Israel Update:
This is a short one to fill in the gap and clarify what is actually going on.
There are conflicting reports about “hunger in Gaza”. Pressure mounted and eventually Israel gave up and today they dropped aid from airplanes and announced a humanitarian ceasefire from 10AM to 800PM every day until further noice. Also enabling the UN to take in hundreds of trucks daily and secured routes for it and enabled fuel for a water desalination plant and a water pipe from Egypt to be laid into an area that is still in Hamas hands in the North.
This causes a lot of upset in Israel. “Our hostages are starved and get no visits and we feed the enemy”.
The truth is that while most if not all the images of skeletons and reports of death were fake and it can be proven, there was scarcity in North Gaza. The areas where Hamas is still in control because it has hostages there. Israel did limit aid to the Hamas areas and since whatever goes in goes for Hamas the others had scarcity and prices rose a lot. So we saw real images of mobs charging on trucks. Bad images. Those are a few specific areas in Central Gaza and possibly north.
So Israel is trying to handle the mess up. And the air drop of food is not enough to make a dent but we are trying to resolve the accusations. Most Israelis have a vivid recollection of the Gazan mob celebrations the massacre in 10/7 and beating the hostages who were made to parade in the streets of Gaza. Most Israelis don’t really care about Gazans. We don’t want starving kids but we are more thinking about our starving hostages who did not see the Red Cross ever. We are pissed off that Gazans are not helping to bring back the hostages.
So now, what’s next? Trump just said that “He knows what should be done but he wouldn’t say”. Pretty clear to me that he is talking about resolving the war with or without the hostages. He is talking about the military option.
Bibi and the IDF thought for many weeks that they can bring about 10 hostages back and buy some 60 days of ceasefire to decide and organize about the next steps. He is now facing the awful decision of moving forward while the hostages are still there. This is going to bring in the Hell not only on Hamas but on Israel too.
The families of the hostages, the media the left and even some center left will go to the streets and we may see massive protests. The soldiers will have a hard tine too if they are on the left.
But it is a decision time. We can all pray for Netanyahu to make the right decisions that will give the best outcomes for the longest terms.
For sure, all the negativity in our media is ignoring one fact: Trump and Netanyahu are not going to have on their name the survival of Hamas, the most brutal terror organization, who could restore and rebuild. They are not going to give them a pass. One must understand those two leaders to know that this is not going to happen.
God bless our leaders with wisdom and right decisions for victory and eventually peace.
Most Gaza’s are brainwashed and petrified of their captors, Hamas. I don’t know why any Gaza’s would still be in North Palestine as the corridors were opened for them to move South way back. Again brainwashed people may have stayed or been made to stay. The media is complete bs, playing on people’s emotions and allegiances. I can’t imagine what any hostages are going through at this point so I can’t comment. I do know the media is not anyone’s friend and making a final decision based on how it plays out on camera is a fools errand. Protesters are either paid or just idiots (another media play to make people believe one way). I hope your Country decides to just follow through and finish this war. Trading a couple hostages for hundreds of Hamas is just making it harder for the soldiers to complete their mission. Hate breeds more hate and only a few pull themselves out of that pattern. I don’t hate anyone but those people breed it. I hope a decision is made soon with disregard to media interpretations! God Bless and keep you safe David!

When I was a small child, my mom had a big wire-bound music book called The Great American Songbook. Inside were not only the lyrics but the sheet music for guitar and piano, of every Americana song you could think of.
Mama was gifted and could play any instrument by ear. She taught herself to read music and she taught us to love it. This was her absolute favorite song in the book. She always sang the harmony part… God rest her soul..

Just adding that my British father in law couldn’t read a note of music, but he had the extraordinary gift of hearing a song one time and then playing it on the piano…exactly as he had heard professionals play it.
His favourite was Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, but it was the same with every American song which he could hear during WWI, he could do the same. He had hands “like hams” as his son, my husband, always said of him…but he always hit every note with delicacy when it mattered and not when it didn’t.

I do miss her. She gave me my love of very old music. She played the autoharp, up on her shoulder like Mother Maybelle Carter. She had bunches of 78 records we thought were just amazing. Bluegrass was a favorite genre of hers.

The first video is my cousin Paul Herman. We were close as kids. He wrote that song together with Dido in England. This song took the equivalent of the Amy Award of England. He is a song writer and a producer of music from London. His father was a holocaust survivor who weighted 66 Lb when he was released from a concentration camp. Later became a world known fur coat designer.
The second video is Juju Brener, she is my SIster-in-law’s granddaughter. They live in LA. She is also an actress. Played in the Hocus Pocus film of Disney and more. It’s a long story but they are all actresses, her grandma, her mother, her sister. Her mom was my friend when she lived in Israel. She moved to the US at a teenager with her mom. Juju’s grandma went back to Israel. Her grandma is my sister in law and my friend. Juju’s mom and sister are sitting in the car in the video.

It is Monday. Medicine is difficult. Practicing medicine with excellence, treating people holistically, and making a living at it while staying healthy is becoming almost impossible in the the context of the U.S. medical/industrial complex.
We spend > 4Trillion dollars a year on health care. Most of that money is being grifted. Physicians and nurses, and other frontline health care professionals are being made into slaves from their education, to licensing, to professional maintenance of certification, to malpractice, to insurance credentialing, medical records certification, “quality” measures.
The environment we work in makes it nearly impossible to treat people with competence and compassion.
Primary Care, continuity care is being eliminated.
Physicians, nurses, nurse assistants and techs hanging in there because they love people, but their compassion to do the right thing no matter what is being taken advantage of by the money changers of the U.S. health care pot o’gold.
I am grateful for this country, for my profession, for my training, for my opportunities, for many many blessings. I am trying not to whine. But we are losing our health care systems.

I so wish you could go Direct Pay… my functional health practitioner does it.
They do accept insurance, but mostly cash and I find them quite reasonable considering. Expensive diagnostic tests run through my insurance… but there are some diagnostics, they do and are quite reasonable. They’ve expanded twice because there’s such a demand for them. I waited 4 months to have my first appointment with them and I’m so glad I did. None of the red tape.
I want you, CountryDoc and our Aggiegirl to start a practice together.

Same publisher of Beatrix Potter’s work (they were artistic contemporaries born 30yrs apart; CMB published from 1911, BP published from 1902) – she’s an incredible story too.
Beatrix Potter first illustrated & painted various botanicals, most prominent were studies in mycology, that were submitted for acceptance but initially rejected by the university academics because she was female; though NOW those very same original works are in their museum… because that collection is peerless and has never been surpassed.
A film about a portion of her life was made – Miss Potter is the title – a very well done gem with Renee Zelweger & Ewan McGregor (sadly he’s dead-to-me now I can’t watch it anymore

(1-8) “Jesus Christ is the Vine, the true Vine. The union of the human and Divine natures, and the fulness of the Spirit that is in him, resemble the root of the vine made fruitful by the moisture from a rich soil. Believers are branches of this Vine. The root is unseen, and our life is hid with Christ; the root bears the tree, diffuses sap to it, and in Christ are all supports and supplies. The branches of the vine are many, yet, meeting in the root, are all but one vine; thus all true Christians, though in place and opinion distant from each other, meet in Christ. The word of Christ is spoken to all believers; and there is a cleansing virtue in that word, as it works grace, and works out corruption. And the more fruit we bring forth, the more we abound in what is good, the more our Lord is glorified. In order to fruitfulness, we must abide in Christ, must have union with him by faith. It is the great concern of all Christ’s disciples, constantly to keep up dependence upon Christ, and communion with him. True Christians find by experience, that any interruption in the exercise of their faith, causes holy affections to decline, their corruptions to revive, and their comforts to droop. Those who abide not in Christ, though they may flourish for awhile in outward profession, yet come to nothing. The fire is the fittest place for withered branches; they are good for nothing else. Let us seek to live more simply on the fulness of Christ, and to grow more fruitful in every good word and work, so may our joy in Him and in his salvation be full.”

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

My first thought in the morning is of God;
Asking His blessings – for me – is not odd;
What is odd and quite perplexing to me;
Is the smile on my face when I think of Thee!
What comes to mind in Morning Prayer?
With each petition – through each layer;
The joy experienced when reminded;
The truth exposed – no longer blinded!
Thank You, Lord, for opening my eyes;
For helping me see – for making me wise;
For sending me – a great gift in disguise;
Someone to respect – a friend to advise!
You touched my heart where others could not;
You accepted my help – without a thought;
You laughed at my jokes – though silly they are;
You welcomed my friendship – from near and afar!
You challenged my knowledge – and added to it;
You carefully connected the dots adrift;
You made me wonder ‘bout God and His plan;
To where it would lead – from whence it began!
You gave me a place – to pray and to love;
You prayed with me – stayed with me – above;
Together we lifted up many a friend;
And brought forth God’s blessings to that end!
How can I thank you – what more can I say;

Like vs Love
Musings from a low branch at the Treehouse
The summer of 1990 found Doc and me wandering as vagabonds. Literally.
We put our household goods into storage, stocked our 22 foot class C motor home with necessities, trailered our car and ‘hit the road’. We went as far west as Grand Junction, Co, as far north as The UP of Michigan, and as far east and south as Atlanta, Ga.
Doc’s comment about our fun adventure was that two people living in that small a space have to LIKE each other a lot.
Like – to feel attraction toward or take pleasure in
– enjoy
– likes baseball
Love – attraction based on sexual desire
– affection and tenderness felt by lovers
– After all these years, they are still very much in love.
Another ‘oldster’ and I have been discussing his parents. In his memory, his parents were very different in nature and had different interests. He wonders how these two people stayed together. He opines that it was because (for them) divorce was not an option.
While I didn’t know them well, I do know that they were married in 1933 and were together for 90 years or more.
After their three children left them ‘free’, they worked together to restore a family cabin to a livable delight. They had an Airstream travel trailer which was later downsized to a camper van. My friend’s dad remodeled the inside … making it suitable for their ongoing travel adventures.
As I muse upon these oddities I am reminded of Doc’s observation: you have to LIKE someone a lot to spend lots of time together in a small living space.
Noel Coward’s song (Hey Ho) “If Love were All” echoes my thought. Sure, (sexual) love and devotion dominate our perception of love. But …Perhaps it is more important to LIKE the person you want to be with

For some indiscrnable reason, I get assurances there will be a consult on this surgury, but no consult.
Worst part is, Wife has to stay in a motel room, and taxi 25 miles every day, each way.

Several hospitals in the Phoenix area provide very inexpensive or subsidized accommodations for families of their patients. If I knew the hospital you were being treated in I could be more specific.
