The “tree people” are coming today to chop down my 60 to 70 foot beautiful eucalyptus tree. It is dying and way too close to the house, but…….it is making me so sad. I’ve asked the guys to try and watch for nesting birds (we have used them before, and they are aware I’m “eccentric” and promised they would.)
Even so, I shall stay in th house to listen to your offering – and turn up the volume! ❤️
Mornin’ deal lady. I’m well acquainted with tree and big limb removal. I also have good guys. They’re from N. Mexico ranch country and I’ve found young kids there receive instruction that American kids no longer learn. These guys are good, practical carpenters, tree trimmers, fence builders, lawn guys. And best of all, they’re a really nice trustworthy bunch to work with. Had a huge 40ft horizantal limb stretching out to the street. I assumed an arborist would charge a bunch of money to take it down. My guy took a battery-powerer 12in chain saw and removed it in 30min. (!!!)
I haven’t been in a movie theater since only the Lord knows when, but I am going to a theater near me to watch Superman. I SERIOUSLY need a diversion from the “reality” in front of me.

’62? Graduated HS, got my first decent car —VW small rear window. Good enough for visiting friends in OK.
Started college—RTV major, worked at campus radio station, began listening to classical music, joined ‘frat, fired same after a few months (at a ‘frat party some pompous dentist’s son from Liberty lifted the back of my shirt collar, saw it was from JC Penny, sneered and announced that “Pikes’ should wear Gant shirts”.
Doing that solidly violated my ‘redneck rules’ . . . he didn’t realize how close he was to picking himself up off the floor . . .) realized then and there I wasn’t putting up with that kind of BS.
I remember walking away from that ‘frat. Had a great feeling of personal liberation. ’62 was a big year for an 18 year old. Looking back it was a real, personal introduction to adulthood.

In high school (didn’t graduate until 1968), being an enlisted Navy lifer daughter, I was ostracized and alienated, because of the Vietnam war and, according to the “well to do” groups that got to be cheerleaders, etc. not worthy. I’m sure you know what I am talking about. Their parents were pretty much white collar and I hung with the blue collar kids.
Any way to make a long story short, I got my revenge at our ten year reunion. By then, my son was 4 and I was married to a very tall, quite handsome, Marine. I wore the slinkiest, one strap shoulder long dress, with a slit way up on the leg, (my mom was 5’11” and had very long legs) which I was blessed with from her, and the highest heels I could wear. I was 120 lbs and 5’8″ with out the heels. All those cheerleaders and other click girls, and I am being nice, did not age well in those ten years and had had divorces and remarriages and still were not happy. I truly felt sorry for them. In the end, the blue collar kids I had hung around with in school had all aged very well and were very happily married, with kids, and looked amazing after 10 years, and we had the most fun at that reunion. Needless to say, I went back to the 35 year reunion and by then had the horse ranch and it was very informal, so I wore my sim fit wranglers and cowgirl clothes and again had the best time with what was left of my blue collar buddies. After that, I didn’t go to any more and have since lost track of many of them.
I apologize for the length, but I had to tell you about it because of you saying goodbye to the Uppity snots at the Frat. Garrrison, I just love your stories and I pray you have a wonderful and blessed rest of Wednesday.
Re: your reunion story. I’ll bet you were a knockout in that outfit!! Wow . . . and at a HS reunion what a perfect statement to the “cool” kids. Isn’t it interesting what a decade can mean in terms of your personality identity? And speaking of the slim jeans . . . At my favorite BBQ which is located in “little town Texas” it is not at all uncommon to see young women in very tasteful western outfits. Yep, they’re in town—often in from nearby ranches—for the weekend and—wow—do they ever look great. Great story, love. It is always good to hear from you.
Hi Garrison. I enjoy talking with you too. I would not say I was a knockout but I have good genes from my dad, Pequot Indian and French ancestry and mom, irish and austrian. Although my twin did some modeling right out of high school. Until she married and had children.
I went to my own drum beat in high school. There was an awful lot of drugs going around and free love and hippie stuff and that just wasn’t my style. Liked some of the music, Janis Joplin, Iron Butterfly, Vanilla Fudge. etc. and of course American Bandstand was pretty popular and Motown.
When I was involved with the Ranch and showing the horses, I was always in western outfits. I now wear for comfort rather than the tight jeans although I still wear skirts and dresses when I go out or to church. Have a great evening.

I’d look up to the top of the Sandia’s, see the tall antennas there, and know my pappy was up there working as an electrical engineer for KOB TV.
And on Saturday mornings we’d hear him give the station call letters, and due to his job working with the latest “technology,” our family had the first color T.V. in the neighborhood.
The first night we had it our frontroom was full of little kids sitting on the floor, thrilled to be watching The Flintstones in living color.
Raven, thank you for the story about you, your family and your dad. When I was six I was catching crayfish in the creeks, tadpoles, salamanders and frogs and digging for earthworms to go fishing. This was in Pennsylvania farm country about thirty minutes from the Amish. In winter we would go sledding, ice skating and when we really had the snow drifts, we built tunnels through the drifts and made forts.
Growing up then was lots of fun, as long as we got home before dark, we would be out from sun up to sundown in the summer. In Winter we’d go in and get warmed up and dry our clothes then go back out and get wet and cold again. Ha, never even thought about getting frost bitten but I guess we had enough sense to go in when we got cold.

I watched the whole interview. There were a few parts where I think Mr. Doricko was loose with the facts. I did not get the impression that he was completely honest. He comes across very smart, but then plays dumb with the capabilities. Kinda vague.
I have not yet watched that interview, but intend to do so.
One thing that I have not heard mentioned much is that the ground was pretty much saturated from rain received before the storm rolled in. I don’t think there is much efficient percolation in the Hill Country anyway because of the thin topsoil that sits on the limestone bedrock.
Tropical Storm Allison that hit Houston in 2001 caused flooding to the extent that school buses on the Katy freeway were swamped to the tops of the windows. Allison came in after about two days of rain saturated the ground.
Hurricane Harvey in 2017 hit Houston and caused disastrous flooding after a day or two of rain had saturated the ground.
Hurricane Helene hit western North Carolina after a day or two of rain had already saturated the ground. We all know how devastated the area was from the flooding.
Rains that come a couple of days before big rain events are what set up these disasters.
Why would anyone go to the expense of cloud seeding when the remnant of a Pacific hurricane is incoming?
Also, why would anyone cloud seed in an area that might result in dumping water onto a watershed unless there is a reservoir that is very, very low?
Yeah because he knows damn well what affect weather manipulation can have and probably has had. Wild that something like this can be allowed to happen with no rules/oversight.

Had a 45% chance of rain yesterday and the forecast for today shows 80% chance with every day for the next 5 days showing 45% or greater chance.
So despite the yard not being fully dry at 12:30 yesterday I got to mowing. Had to get it done while I had the chance despite the temps in the 80’s and humidity being so high that I felt the air sweating and times while mowing.
Got it done and though it threatened to rain all afternoon and evening, it never did still hasn’t this morning yet.

Hi Soaz, update on “kitty central”. They were all given their freedom from the laundry room on Monday. Oh that was so much fun to watch them explore most of the house. I closed off the bedrooms though. They still climb or jump the gate to use the litter boxes and they prefer to still eat in there, and first night went back in there to sleep. Last night they slept in various places in the house, including my office (my trash can was tipped over and various pieces of trash were played with throughout the night)!
Beau still does not know what to think of these little fur balls running around. Percy has no fear of him and is absolutely brazen. Oliver (when not sleeping) just torments him to play with him. I just have to watch where I step so I don’t hurt one of them. Mom is thrilled to have some freedom, but I caught her letting some of them nurse. I thought by now she would be tired of them nursing. It is a “three ring circus” here now.

COMMENTARY FOR PSALMS 113
An exhortation to praise God.
– God has praise from his own people. They have most reason to praise him; for those who attend him as his servants, know him best, and receive most of his favours, and it is easy, pleasant work to speak well of their Master. God’s name ought to be praised in every place, from east to west. Within this wide space the Lord’s name is to be praised; it ought to be so, though it is not. Ere long it will be, when all nations shall come and worship before him. God is exalted above all blessing and praise. We must therefore say, with holy admiration, Who is like unto the Lord our God? How condescending in him to behold the things in the earth! And what amazing condescension was it for the Son of God to come from heaven to earth, and take our nature upon him, that he might seek and save those that were lost! How vast his love in taking upon him the nature of man, to ransom guilty souls! God sometimes makes glorious his own wisdom and power, when, having some great work to do, he employs those least likely, and least thought of for it by themselves or others. The apostles were sent from fishing to be fishers of men. And this is God’s constant method in his kingdom of grace. He takes men, by nature beggars, and even traitors, to be his favourites, his children, kings and priests unto him; and numbers them with the princes of his chosen people. He gives us all our comforts, which are generally the more welcome when long delayed, and no longer expected. Let us pray that those lands which are yet barren, may speedily become fruitful, and produce many converts to join in praising the Lord.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

All their heels are well-designed & placed correctly. For me it’s torture to wear heels over 2.25″ (I never took the high-heel habit) OR that aren’t placed specifically to support weight.
It’s a lot like being Hangry when my shoes hurt my feet.
I’ve been looking at & lusting after their shoes for years (but never bought, so many/too many delicious styles I need to win the lottery)… their company has grown a lot since – just a handfull of styles there at first.

It’s not that hard; just time consuming.
We take it for granted now… but that guy Pinet was the inventor of “Left” and “right” specific lasts for shoemaking. Apparently, previous to him, all shoes were made the same on straight lasts. The wealthy had them first then the technology became widely adopted –
’twas ever thus.
That seems ridiculous now – there weren’t always left & right shoes. He was an innovator.
I also love watching shoemakers – and shoe restorers. I could learn that.
I love watching makers of almost anything.

I respectfully disagree. If the power-brokers of the much of the world (and this is who we’re talking about, btw) are complicit in such a vile thing as a ‘pdf-file’ ring, then that is worth dying on. Moral failure that deep has no place. Pres Trump’s supporters would characterize themselves as upstanding moral folks, and that folk doesn’t look away from such crimes.
These dirty people are the people that comprise the swamp, and POTUS’s main mantra was ‘drain the swamp’.
Now he’s saying “there is no swamp, it was a hoax”.
The dissonance with which this rings is startling.
That’s where perspective comes in. In what universe does Jeffrey Epstein and his sordid lifestyle, with accompanying benefactors, represent the whole of the swamp? The people who would have us believe so will be nowhere to be found if we allow this man’s evil life to be the cause of our downfall. Epstein will just add millions more victims to the hundreds already on his tally.
I emphasize again, Epstein is not the hill conservatives should be willing to die on. Continue to ask for accountability, and hope for it. That’s what people of integrity do. But don’t imagine that the Epstein matter, which has been percolating for years, will see its resolution by this administration or in all the hand wringing we are doing. Ultimately, the final accountability in this matter will come from God. If you do not believe that, then there really is no more for me to say.

The visible pictures reveal the low-level center is over land, and while it could reform over the water, it diminishes the chances of this being much beyond a rainmaker. Convection over the water shows its very favorable out there for development, but if the bar is closed ( you’re inland), you can’t get a drink

I’m there man… this is bizarre stuff now. I hate to break out the tired old ‘4d-chess’, but all I can wonder at this point is if this is some massive psy-op he’s playing trying to get some low-level (dis)functionary to leak the list b/c they would think it would be an ‘own’ of President Trump, ie. to ‘I will prove him wrong and be a hero!’ and release the list…
I don’t like his tone of attacking the base though… it boggles me that he’d have this abrupt of a turn around on an issue I’m pretty sure he was behind all during the campaign.

The CH-53 came into service in 1966, it remains the largest helicopter to have ever performed a loop. I flew in the PaveLow version of the 1980’s a couple times, and had a flight over water in a Marine Sea King version from the USS Iwo Jima off the coast of Lebanon to Larnaca, Cyprus. The only downside in being a passenger that I can report is it has a very high pitched whine which regular disposable foam ear plugs weren’t quite adequate in dampening.
Anyway, like the C-130 and B-52, the CH-53 is an aircraft that is a great design that served in Vietnam and remains in front line service today. It remains the primary helicopter used by the Air Force para-rescue.

You don’t need to thank me dear lady. It gave back as much or more than I put into it. Going through the SF training and then the 7 1/2 years on A-teams gave me the confidence that I could do anything I wanted. There comes a time in any person life that determines who and what they will be. At that time a person either rises to the occasion and succeeds or they fall back. They may not ever admit that the failed, but that is exactly what it is. A failure to stand up to the challenge.
Meeting that challenge changed my life for sure and it was the service that made that change in me. I KNOW it changed my life for the better.
When you board an aircraft as a passenger you are putting yourself in the hands of God. You have no control over your fate.
And I had much more violent and dicey rids in Hueys and Black Hawks than I ever had in a CH-53. But unlike those that flew and rode in them during Vietnam, I never had anyone shooting at us when doing so.
Personally, I loved flying in helicopters. I had the attitude that what will happen is out of my control so enjoy the ride. Your experiencing something that the vast majority of people will never know.
My wildest ride was not during an infiltration or exfiltration and it was in a Huey.
I was an instructor at SOMED at Ft. Sam Houston. We had to keep our wanna be SF medic trainees proficient in jumping and keep them eligible for their jump pay. So, when we couldn’t get a C-130 we would get a Huey for them to jump from out on the DZ at Camp Bolus which was the field training area for all medic trainees at Ft. Sam.
My Dad and uncles were coming down for a fishing trip at Port Isabel. Every year my Dad and his brothers would go on a fishing trip together and Dad would always bring one of his sons. That year it was my turn and I had arranged for two weeks leave for the trip. I already had one family friend that came a couple days early staying in the spare bedroom of our family quarters which was a house on Chaffee street on post. But my leave did not start for a couple days. Doc also apparently knew that I had been staying at the school house a lot of nights till 22:00 or later writing lessons plans and clinic scenarios long after everyone else had left.
So we had this jump scheduled and I jump mastered the trainees. Doc Mollof, who was an SF qualified doctor that was the commander of our course knew the situation with my coming leave and that I had a visitor with others coming in the next day. The pilot of the Huey that came out was a Major and the Docs wife was the copilot. I found out that Major was a Chicken Hawk from Vietnam that had flown assaults, Medivac, and gun ships in Vietnam. IOW that guy had done it all!
Now usually we just rode out to the DZ in a CUTV or duce and a half and then rode back in the same way after the jump. After I had finished with the trainees and the chopper was getting ready to head back, Doc told me to get on the chopper and they would take me straight back to Ft. Sam, he also must of arranged to tell that pilot to give me the ride of my life.
I got on board and put on the headphones and mic. That pilot took off and went to one end of the DZ then swung around and crossed the length of the DZ gaining speed at 5 ft or so above the ground. He then pulled up hard and did a hammer head over the other end of the DZ and then came across the DZ at low level again at full speed. I LOVED IT!
He then told me that he was going to fly low level into San Antonio to stay below the level at which radar could detect us. He flew down real low up gullies and washes a full speed passing close by the walls and the trees.
Upon getting close to the urban area of San Antonio he popped up to altitude and then we circled the tower there before he flew to Ft. Sam and landed to drop me off at the huge parade ground of the post about three blocks from my quarters.
I loved every single minute of it.

Hell yea! I just depends on the situation. I wasn’t strapped in when I took that ride I just described. In fact after the hammer head when he sped at low level across the DZ I was on my knees on the floor sitting up facing the open door on the side where everyone else was getting ready to leave , holding my hands like I was shooting a machine gun at them.
We would sit with out legs hanging out on the skids whenever the weather was warm.
One evening we were flying a Huey out to Bolus to rappel in and then provide medical training to ROTC trainees. It was getting late in the day and we were all sitting with our legs hanging out enjoying the ride and cool breeze.
Then we started noticing little brown things flying by our faces every once in a while. We finally figured out they were bats that were being blown out of control by the prop wash. We all left our legs hanging out but after that we leaned back to keep our heads out of the slip stream.

Witnessing my children being born granted a rare glimpse into the miracle and truth of creation, with no faith needed, and that love is the most powerful force on earth as I would give up my life, in an instant, without any hesitation, to protect my child and spouse. When each of two elderly family members passed away, there was a surprising sense of peace, a holy peace, that permeated the entire room at the moment of death, and for several minutes after, that all those present felt and acknowledged. Right after my mom’s funeral, I received a clear, telepathic communication in her voice that said, “It’s okay honey, I’m alright”, which is exactly the way she would say it.
