Oh how sweet and thoughtful 😍 I just watched a small video, one in a series of a man with dreadlocks (the least likely one would think) who takes in foster kitty babies and cares for them until they are adopted. In this particular video he had a coat on with deep pockets, and two littles in each.

The kittens I had were feral rescues. I actually found homes for a few just like that – by carrying them around.
For me it was only one, rarely two. I had to be mindful of them trying to jump out when they got larger.
It was a hit with the young women in stores, but I did not get a GF or wife with that approach!

When my Dad came to live with us under hospice, his doggie, Boscoe, and kitty came too of course.
We have an old water trough sunk in the ground for a doggo pool. After Boscoe tried to drown in it twice and I jumped in for him, we had to fence him out.
The solution was a sprinkler – he loved it!

My roof repairs stopped the “leaking like a seive”; however, the underlying shingles on that shed were probably the lowest quality you could buy. As well as not being installed correctly in the first place.

Our 18 yo orange tabby & white male cat has been doing exactly that for at least the past 10 years….When the Mrs. is out shopping or wherever, Rufus goes up to the bedroom, finds one of her slipper socks and brings it downstairs, head hung low holding the sock and yowling the entire way, and then drops it on the kitchen floor. If she’s out for awhile, he repeats that routine – yeowling all the way – until he runs out of slipper socks.
It’s fairly normal for us to return home from an outing and find several pairs of slipper socks deposited around the kitchen floor.

But he is part orange tabby, so…. 💕
For my cat…it’s a game. Every night since 2016 or so, he brings either pink stripey socks, black socks, or “Kitty face” (a disgusting remnant of a gutted plush toy).. or some combo of the three. The socks belonged to my daughter while in high school and she rescued the cat in college (she’s now grown with a child and 3 other cats that she married). She left Nelson with us.
But I play the game too. Every evening I hide the sock (socks) in one of the upstairs bedrooms, on a bookshelf, a window sill, behind a door…you get it. Every morning they end up on the bedroom floor, or the bathroom, or the back door mat. When he brings them, he howls and meows the whole trip through the house.
i wash the socks, “ Kitty Face” would disintegrate. 😳

Good evening Garrison. Maybe you do need a dog. How long has it been? I understand as it took me several years to get over my Buddy (a Catahoula) that was a casualty of Hurricane Katrina, and Daisy, a Queensland healer that walked up my 1/4 mile driveway at the big ranch one day and stayed.
Now I have Beau, a stray Black Mouth Cur, I adopted from our shelter about 3 years ago, and he has earned his keep, as he told me before it happened, that I was having a stroke last March. He is the best company I could ever have.

Little ‘Tink’s been a bit standoffish of late, preferring to remain outside (usually in the garage or someplace similar) but always in “her” yard. Until this morning. About 5am I felt the familiar kitty bump as she jumped onto the bed. Then just like she’s always done, she carefully climbed onto my shoulder and made herself comfortable. By then, I was more or less awake and very pleased to have her presence nearby. Gave her a pat and a soft “good girl” . . . She responded with an equally soft good-morning purr. Such an affectionate kitty. But only when she wants to.

The kittens will be, (I think), 8 weeks old tomorrow. I’ve lost track. I am worn out and they are eating me out of house and home! Afternoon, dear Bet . . . You are quite right. I think we’re hearing Emilie for the 1st time. Just got back from my favorite taqueria. She serves a great bowl of chicken-tortilla soup. Since I’m officially off my diet (my best friend, former dept. chair, told me I was “looking frail” . . . something I’ve never been told before) I’m making an effort to expand my lunch choices. But, that said, this serving of soup was entirely filling. Looks like I’m stabilizing at 175lbs down +/- 55lbs and 3 and-a-bit waist sizes. 🙂

The question I have for you is this…Do you feel better not carrying around excess baggage? It can’t have done you any harm heakth-wise that’s for sure. Now for maintenance.
We find that the older we don’t eat as much, simply because it takes less to fill us up. I’d love to drop a few pounds but I daren’t eat any less…one meal at 5-ish, and that’s it. My issue is I am shrinking…Top height was 5’3″. But the last time we were dining at my oldest’s with her three, the boys home from university, I asked them both how tall they were now.
They guessed 6′, and they certainly do look that tall from way down below where I am. So of course their mother made us all line up. The boys were 5″11, their younger sister “5”4…and scrapping the bottom was yours truly at 4’11!! YIKES!!! I’m disappearing!!
So good on you for your weight drop, but please don’t disappear on us…a slice of pie or cake won’t go amiss 😎

Used to wonder how our moms could eat so little – it has become apparent. 😉
Soaz and Betsy, I have shrunk only about 1/2″. I count myself fortunate as at my age normally you have shrunk more than that. I truly believe it was my Grandmom and Mom constantly at me to stand up straight, as I was 5’8″ since I was about 14 years old. Actually I would have liked to be my mom’s height (5’11”), but never made it.
As for eating, I’ve been blessed with a decent metabolism, so can eat anything and don’t have to watch my weight too much, but like you both, can not eat as much as I used to, so eat smaller meals rather than one large meal, as I get hungry through the day (I’m guessing it’s my fast metabolism).

If I may, I’ll unpack several things. . . 🙂 This is the 2nd time in my life I’ve lost a significant amount of weight. Around 2000 or so, I did a strict zero-carb regimen, losing 40lbs in a few months. Then life got in the way. Didn’t like being heavy. At all. Loosing weight this time was actually not like work. In fact I enjoyed my lunch practice of chicken fajita tacos and charro beans. Nobody believes that eating tacos and beans is weight-loss food. As someone who knows more about food than I do commented . . . absent the tortillas its all protean.
The other day, I put on a pair of old jeans. Their 30in length signaled that I’ve shrunk a bit. 29’s are more appropriate, now. Sigh. That just comes with age. My best friend tells me I look “frail” so its time to stop losing weight. Glad I can loose the weight but glad I can stop if I want to.
Thanks so very, very much for the Lyle Lovett interview video. What I like about him is how naturally unaffected he is. Despite his fame, you get the idea he could just as easily be your neighbor or your friend. This is a characteristic you can often find in Texas. I call it “Little Town Texas.” A good friend was a motorcycle dealer and so had occasions to interact with Lyle from time-to-time. He loved talking ‘bikes and could easily wile away an entire afternoon doing just that. Yep, he’s that kind or guy.

I was not aware of some of these breeds. I knew a breeder who owned some Camarillo’s and some Nez Perce horses.
Looks like the Mustang was more accepting of the orphan foal then the other horses.

Good morning: Quite a busy day yesterday.
Put of my largest colors and the Gadsden Flag is flying under it.
I pressure washed all the concrete walk, the apron to the new garage, the front of the house from the front door to the SW corner which means both overhead doors and all the front of the garage under the over hanging gable. Then I went around back and pressure washed the deck, which needed it badly and took a lot of time because of mold and lichen in some places. I pressure washed all concrete around back and the top cover the Gnnerac generator.
US that 30 seconds cleaner on the old walk up front and steps up to the front door and then pressure washing made the old match the new as nearly as it possibly could without being resealed.
while I was doing that up front Sherry and Corbin were inside cutting up the top sirloin and vegetables and putting in the tupper wear to marinade until we skew them on the 4th.
Then when I got around to the deck she came out and helped me move the furniture off the deck and then back on after I was done.
I started on the pressure washing at 09:30 and finished at 20:00.
Today I inventory fireworks, check that my 2 x 10 with mortar tubes is functional and make what repairs it may need. And then mow the yard.
We’ll be having 4 guests. The menue is shish kabobs, rice pilaf, linquine salad, deviled eggs, spinach dip wit Hawaiian bred, and home made 4th of July Cheese Cake. Everyone will be here about 19:30 for drinks and dinner followed by fireworks when it gets dark enough.
I shoot them off out over the back field. Tomorrow I’ll get on the golf cart my brother loaned me to use until I get my own and drive and around and pick up the residue from the fireworks.
The dogs will get calming treats. This will be my first fireworks here at home and it will be interesting to see how Buckley reacts. Geisha will be inside and act like it’s a thunderstorm and the cat will be under our bed per usual when we have done this before.
Mrs. Dutchman left an update re her husbands condition and his further stay at the hospital . She posted late in the evening on yesterday’s OPEN thread….

Hello, I am the wife of “Dutchman”, who has frequented this site for many years.
He has been in a hospital for a week, and plans to be there longer while dealing with various cancer-related issues.
He did not have a good cell phone charger (the android phone being his method of online use), but he has one now.
Dutchman has been in a hospital since June 25th. He now has a new trach tube.
He has a “mass” in his throat, partially occluding his airway. If they are going to remove it, he thinks they will take the thyroid, lymph glands and voice box.
Then he will use a Servox (electronic speaking device). He calls it “talking like Darth Vader” – he finds humor wherever possible.
As a whole, he has always been 100% involved in meds that are prescribed, procedures that are suggested, and maintaining open communication with all staff members (even if he needs to write everything down – with almost no vocal cords functioning anymore).
Perhaps he will jump back in here, sometime. He obviously misses y’all or he would not have texted me the request to provide an update.
Not good! He needs some prayers.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

In every phase of life on earth
What we do will prove our worth
How we adjust to the highs and lows
Will determine which way our life goes
When stuck in a rut of sorrow and woe
We really have no direction to go
We haven’t asked God what He wants us to do
We are simply comfortable in feeling blue
We grieve our situation and that’s ok
He would not want it any other way
We seem to think we will figure it out
All on our own mind you we have no doubt
But God knows and He will wait for you
He’ll show you daily what He wants you to do
Signs and wonders before you displayed
All in the balance come forth to be weighed
Love one another is what you must do
Love one another as He has loved you
Listen to the clues He provides you each day
Being true to yourself is the only way
Now is the time to spread your wings
To set your sights on universal things

Melania speaking 5 languages is the very first thing that came to my mind when I heard that dung coming out of JC concerning her.
Years ago before Jay Leno retired, he used to do “Jaywalking” where people on the street would be shown pictures of prominent landmarks and asked where they were located.
Places such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris, or an overhead picture of 800 acre Central Park in NYC.
JC reminds me of someone that would fail that miserably.
