From my experience, I would encourage you to not let your guard down and to prepare for things to potentially deteriorate dramatically. I lived in LA during the Rodney King riots. The protests/riots in the local area of the courthouse after the verdict occupied the police, and that was all it took for them to lose control of the entire city as the entrenched Mexican crime gangs quickly took over elsewhere . We learned it’s a very thin blue line between law and order and absolute chaos when there is no longer a viable police force to keep the gangs in check. All hell broke loose everywhere in the city. Gangs members were burning the city down and robbing homes all over, including in the Valley and in neighborhoods on the west side. This was never reported in the news. I was at Cedars Sinai Medical Center when they evacuated all non-essential personnel as the buildings being burned down on Wilshire Blvd started to approach the Beverly Center. ( a high end mall near Beverly Hills then for those unfamiliar with LA) From the Med Center it looked like a war zone, there were so many buildings burning. Gang members were shown on the local evening TV news vowing to burn as many buildings as possible to prove their loyalty to their gangs. Lacking any police protection, neighborhood patrols banded together carrying sticks and rakes to try to protect their neighborhoods and businesses from being burned down. (Most people had no guns then.) Like Newsom, the Mayor refused to acknowledge they’d lost control of the city and refused to call in the National Guard. This went on for three days before the Guard finally came in. It was like a war zone with curfew at 6pm, everything came to a standstill.
I pray this will not continue to escalate and you will all be safe! Hopefully Trump will have the National Guard in there asap despite Newsom and Bass fighting against this.
