Authorities at the Port of Long Beach on Friday seized 55 tons of dicumyl peroxide, a chemical used to make methamphetamine.
The shipment originated in China and was destined for the Sinaloa drug cartel in Mexico, according to a news release from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The dicumyl peroxide was identified as a result of an initiative launched by ICE in 2019 to identify suspicious shipments of chemical precursors from China, India and other source countries that are destined for drug cartels in Mexico.
Since the initiative was launched, it has led to the interdiction of almost 1,900 tons of chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamines and fentanyl.

According to a new report from Mexican newspaper Tabasco Hoy, the Mexican Navy intercepted 23,368 kilograms (51,517 pounds) of fentanyl at the Port of Lázaro Cárdenas, the largest Mexican seaport and one of the largest harbors in the Pacific Ocean.
The Secretariat of the Navy said joint work between the Naval Unit of Port Protection No.63 and the Tenth Naval Zone and Customs at the port uncovered the illicit drug in a 40ft shipping container. Preliminary reports show the container wasn’t entirely filled with fentanyl.
The vessel was a several hundred-meter container ship flying a Danish flag, in which according to its freight manifest, the fentanyl was identified as “Calcium Chloride.”
Navy and port officials completed a random search of the unnamed vessel, and when they carried out specialized Customs laboratory testing of some of “Calcium Chloride,” it turned out to be fentanyl.
Within one container, there were 931 sacks of fentanyl, totaled a gross weight of 23,368 kilograms (51,517 pounds). The container ship came from Shanghai, on China’s central coast, and was eventually going to drop off the cargo in Culiacán, the capital of the state of Sinaloa.
If one is to believe the Commie Scrumpet Maria Van Zeller on her “Trafficked” series from about a year ago on National Geographic channel, a Cartelito she interviewed said the Mexer Cartels were focusing on producing meth in a rudimentary “shake and bake” fashion here Stateside like Appalachian/Ozark garage chemists figured out how to do with plastic Sprite bottles and readily available chemicals from the local hardware store.
The balaclava clad subject of the interview went on to state that the Cartels had operatives inside the pseudo ephedrine production facilities and storage warehouses and that is how they could make a more portable and profitable de centralized production network.
The hillbillies that pioneered the Shake and Bake method were/are only able to make micro batches of meth on account of the small number of pseudo ephedrine pills their scabby tweeker minions can buy because of FDA regulation.
Why would the Cartels go to the trouble of sending precursors here to smuggle it into Mexico and then back in as finished meth?

Having seen the operations of a meth business running out of a virtual brothel across from my new house for seven years; I can attest to the fact that the “scabby tweeker minions ” are real here in the Ozarks.

At The Big Picture, a clip of Sen. John D. Rockefeller (then Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence) discussing how oversight actually works has been posted. It’s from an interview given in 2007, about the time the FISA Amendments Act was being put together to replace the expiring Protect America Act. The amendments act, among other things, extended the length of warrantless surveillance and gave telecoms retroactive immunity for their participation in the NSA’s bulk collections.

Pompeo is an ass. The strike is a “model for the free world” only in the sense that such an attack could be carried out here in our own back yard with minimal effort by our enemies.
When I read that article, I think yesterday, I was going no way that was over a ton of Semtex 1A or even 1H or 10. No way. With a specific heat of over 2600 kilojoules per kilogram for the least energetic variant, well the math pros here can do the calculations.
I remember what 8oz of reactive metal, in my case potassium, did to the high school swimming pool and that was just a hydrogen explosion, actually more a deflagration, and nothing approaching the high explosive energy of products like Semtex, which is no doubt what would be used to take out a bridge. Why?
Because a computer can’t actually think.
If you want to put it more-succinctly, it doesn’t have a conscience. That is, it has no way other than analysis to call “BS!” on anything. And its analysis is subject to being polluted because it has no conscience and much of what it ingests as “information” is opinion rather than fact and worse, garbage, sometimes intentionally.
This in turn means that once it “trusts” something as true how does it ever decide it was bamboozled?
The issue should be obvious — once it is bamboozled and it feeds back into it what it “learns” it gets progressively worse.
Humans do this too by the way but we have a way to break the doom loop. We have that “little voice” in the back of our head. Nobody knows how or why it exists but it does. There are people without it and they’re extremely dangerous because absolutely everything they do is transactional, which eventually devolves down into a cold calculation of whether they can get away with whatever it is and whether it has benefit. If the answer to both is “yes” they do it without regard to what happens to anyone else.
A machine doesn’t have a conscience.
