Still have not seen the little ones since the day they were born. Cleo comes out, greets me every time I’m out there, mostly for her food (she acts like she is starving all the time!). Probably due to nursing those seven kittens. She is getting closer (rubbed against my leg one morning), but still will not let me touch her. When she is done eating she goes back under the coop. One hopes to see the little ones soon. Will keep you updated.
And I am grateful. Not rich but comfortable with no financial worries. That is a lot more than a whole lot of others can say.

Today I have something different. Something very special. I am warning you that you may need tissues. I always try to be informative, educational or inspirational. The first four videos are about the returned hostage who was in Gaza 505 days of which 450 days in a tunnel with no light. His name is Omer Shem Tov. He was only 22 years old when he was captured at the Nova Festival. He just finished his military service 10 months before.
The key video is the fourth one but you can’t fully get it without the first three.
The first three are only a minute to two each. I consider it highly inspirational and educational. The fact that he is even appearing so sane is a miracle. He by the way became religious.

Basic Training
SSG Haywood was my DI and a great one. Big well built black guy. Airborne Recondo. Single and liked to party on the weekends. I know because Mondays were always hell!
But Haywood knew his business.
He knew exactly how long he could put you in the front lean & rest on asphalt under that mid day July sun at Ft. Jackson without causing more than a minor 1st degree burn.
And he knew exactly how far he could push without causing injury. While trainees in other platoons were suffering heat exhaustion and in a few cases, heat stroke, we had no heat injuries in our platoon, even though we always ran to the ranges while other platoons marched.
He made me 1st squad leader which meant that I served as platoon guide, although there was supposed be no such thing in the Army anymore.
He also knew that I had signed up off the street to become a 91BS. Special Forces medic. And he knew far better than I what was in store for me. He proved it by yelling every time he wanted my attention “Hains! Get your goat smelling ass over here!”
He rode my ass both physically and mentally more than he did any of the others in my platoon which were all NG out of Hartford, CT. That is all except on other which was a Generals son who got in trouble and choose enlistment instead of jail.
The very fact that they put that misguided recalcitrant kid in Haywood’s platoon was a sure sign of the confidence they had in him to deal with a tough situation.
Eventually he called me into his office and told me he had gone as far as he could go with that kid. I got the message. And the very next morning when everyone had got up and were making their bunks and buffing the floor that little A-hole was still laying in his bunk. I lifted up his bunk and flipped his ass out on the floor and he came up swinging and I beat the punks ass until an older black NG trainee grabbed me and said “Hains, your gonna kill that boy. Let us take care of him from here on out.”
And they did! And that punk finally fell in line.

Oh that was a great video of horses and their antics. I loved watching my horses carry on and do silly stuff. I could not go into the barn with a bottle of water and get too close as some of the horses would grab it and turn it up and drink from the bottle. I never thought about videoing them. Oh well, I’ve got the images in my mind to remember.
My horse, Joey, loved soda pops. On a hot day I would get two bottles out of the machine, one I would drink and the other I would give to Joey. He took it in his mouth and help his head up so he could drink it and then would give me back the empty bottle. He was such a character!

Once upon a time – many years ago – I had a small file box. On 365 individual cards I wrote one of these uplifting thoughts. They were to be read daily, then moved to the rear.
When we became full time RVers (space was limited) I typed them into text files.

(13-18) “Here is comfort for the relations and friends of those who die in the Lord. Grief for the death of friends is lawful; we may weep for our own loss, though it may be their gain. Christianity does not forbid, and grace does not do away, our natural affections. Yet we must not be excessive in our sorrows; this is too much like those who have no hope of a better life. Death is an unknown thing, and we know little about the state after death; yet the doctrines of the resurrection and the second coming of Christ, are a remedy against the fear of death, and undue sorrow for the death of our Christian friends; and of these doctrines we have full assurance. It will be some happiness that all the saints shall meet, and remain together for ever; but the principal happiness of heaven is to be with the Lord, to see him, live with him, and enjoy him for ever. PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Officer Pulls Woman From Burning Car
A Goodyear (Arizona) police officer rescued a young woman from a burning car following a multi-vehicle crash on I-10 early Sunday morning. (Watch; Warning-Graphic Images)
The woman was taken to a hospital in critical condition and is expected to survive. She was identified as the daughter of a Goodyear firefighter, but her name was not released.
The police officer was also hospitalized, suffering severe burns to his hands when he used them to put out a fire in the woman’s hair. The officer’s name was not immediately released.
The woman became trapped and honked her horn in a plea for help as flames engulfed her car. The officer used a multi-tool to break a window of the car, allowing the woman to kick out the remaining glass before the officer pulled her to safety.

LOL this is too great and funny!
Burned up the pile in the fire ring. First calm day we’ve had in awhile and the grass is still wet with dew. went around with the nippers and took out all the volunteer trash trees trying to grow and put them on the burn pile. Used my little electric single hand chainsaw to cut up some scrap trim and stuff I’ve been needing to burn.
Walked the yard and picked up sticks. Filled the mowers and made sure they’re ready to go for when it dries out.
Called a fencing guy to come out and give me a quote on running brown chainlink fence with a single gate to make a dog run. That way we can just let the pups out the sliding glass door from the sun room to go do their business. He’ll be out Sunday or Monday to give me a quote. He does the fencing on the side. His primary job is at Pendlaton Penatentury where he has worked for 37 years.
Taking a break and a couple of Bayer back & body. The next task is weed wacking. Then use the trim mower. Then grab a beer and sit down on the zero turn mower and get the yard mowed. Supposed to rain tomorrow and Saturday.
I have been cutting my grass at 2 1/2″ to get ring of the brown left over from the winter. but now is the time to raise the deck up to 2 3/4″ because soon it will be hot and dryer.
Today is the day the water guy delivers the 5 gallon jugs of for our water cooler and salt for the water softener. Our well water is potable but is still pretty hard even with the softener and if I wait to long to change the whole house water filter the magnetite builds up in the filter and we get an odor.
I have looked into changing out my existing water softener for one made by Culligan that has hydrogen peroxide injection that will eliminate that order by breaking down the magnetite. But haven’t pulled the trigger on it just yet. I suspect I will this summer. As it stands now I change the whole house water filter element every 4-6 weeks depending on water usage. I can smell when it needs to be changed.
