When I started dating my current wife a bit before the year of the commercial , my then-future father in law bought a 3 or 4 year old Travelall (mid-60’s) to pull the family’s 20 ft Holiday Rambler. I remember he said it spent more time in the shop than on the road. That was an exaggeration of course but years later he did say it was the worst vehicle he had ever owned. It towed well but had a series of mechanical and electrical issues that I recall.
Cleaning out the house. Found this CD today and me and my kits started our Caturday with this song. Lifted us all on a chilly rainy day in PA. 🙂

I’ve created & sent Fan MailArt to Puddles. He put a photo of one of them on his Instagram one time.
When he performed here … but I found out too late to get a ticket… I had a letter ready to send so I just took it to the theater in the afternoon & asked that they leave it for him in his dressing room. They did & he shared it on his insta; he always shares what people send him & takes pictures after his shows with the people who come to see him… he’s profusely grateful.
Puddles Trivia: he is 6′ 7″ tall and loves onions, sad songs, and crying/making people laugh until everyone’s crying; he’s a seriously talented artist, comedian & entertainer and he *never speaks*; he only sings. He performed as many characters before the Pierrot Clown Tradition.

nimrodman: Apparentlty, this was at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, I think on May 2. The young pilot, with about 200 flight hours, had a dead engine (note that propeller was not moving). The closest airport would have been Santa Monica, just about 3-4 miles south of Riviera.
Riviera CC is just south of Sunset Blvd, below Pacific Palisades.
Did one heckuva good job landing on that very uneven golf course and missing everything that would’ve caused injury or significant property damage.

As to an update, since yesterday I posted a long one, the only important development is that the IDF is calling in some 60,000 reservists who will be replacing regular soldiers in the North and East and the “regulars” (mandatory and career soldiers) will move to Gaza. It’s not the full maneuver yet but it’s quite big.
It will happen during the next week. But this post is not an update.
This post is something different. It is dear to my heart, it’s about the Israeli Air Force in which I served. I wasn’t a pilot but we were a big family an amazing period of my life.
The Israeli Air Force is legendary! It holds most of the modern Air Battles records of modern warfare. It saved the State of Israel more than once. Many of the more able young people of the population are seeking it and only a few are getting through the notoriously difficult few years course.
In 1967 the Six Days War the IAF (Israeli Air Force) wiped out the Air Forces of Egypt, Syria and Jordan in a few hours and saved the Nation from a serious existential threat.
In the first Lebanon War in 1982 the Syrians decided to prevent the IDF from progressing. In Operation Mole Cricket 19, the IAF was the first in history to destroy Soviet SAM batteries 29 of them. It employed innovative use of drones to trick the batteries and followed with jets,
a technique that was later used by the US against Iraq at the beginning of the war. Drones were rare those days. In the same day in two hours they shot down some 86 Syrian MiGs in one of the largest air battle since WW2. The IAF didn’t lose a single jet fighter.
In 1970 Israel decided to deter the Soviets from getting directly involved against Israel in Egypt. The IAF lured the Soviets into an unexpected dogfight. 24 Soviet MIGs were involved and 5 were shot down with no lost Israeli Airplanes. The Soviets used to mock the Egyptian pilots who lost so many jets and that day the Egyptians were actually happy to see the results and mocked the Soviets too (according to actual reports).
I have to mention the destruction of the Iraqi reactor in an “impossible mission” that stretched the capabilities of the jets. And the destruction of the Syrian reactor.
An Israeli pilot is holding the World champion position in shooting down enemy airplanes in modern jet times. He shot down 17. But also following him we have those who shot down 14, 13, 12 etc… enemy airplanes (MIGs).
The “resume” goes on and on, I know first hand that the US pilots learn a lot from the IAF and hold them at the highest esteem.
And, I have to mention this ongoing war. Hezbollah had hundreds of thousands of missiles. We were expecting mass casualties in our central cities all over and thought that we will lose vital infrastructure like electrical and water.
In about a week the entire command of Hezbollah was killed by the IAF including their top leader. Some 70-80% of their missiles were destroyed and this video will give first hand account.
I can tell you from working with many of them, those pilots have “balls of steel”, I have seen them before critical missions when you can’t tell if they will be back. Real heroes.
Note: If you liked the subject ask me about the most intense experience that I had in the IAF. I also had a reward flight in a combat jet but I am talking about something else.

Here is my story that you never heard before, I think.
It was the early 80s. At that time I served in an Air Base in the desert called “Ovda” close to the south city of Eilat.
Israel was fighting the Palestinian terrorists who were in Lebanon and harassed and attacked the north of Israel.
They messed up Lebanon too and the IDF decided to get rid of them.
Israel had good friends in Lebanon who were the Christians. Israel intended to help the Christians with weapons and training and make peace with Lebanon. Unfortunately Hezbollah later assassinated the Christian President and messed up the plan.
Anyways our Squadron were engaging the terrorists in Lebanon. We had an amazing Head of Squadron, he was a smaller guy with a huge heart, smart and a serious warrior. Everybody loved him. He was also trained on the latest US technology and airplanes and possessed sensitive confidential knowledge. He had an impressive combat record. He led the Squadron also in the air.
I will never forget the day that he took off and damn! His airplane didn’t come back to land. We were all in shock!
We were devastated. At first all you know is that he didn’t land. There is no other data. The rest of what I am telling you is based on what he told us when he was back. So yes, I spoiled it and told you that he survived too soon 😁.
He was over Lebanon and he got hit from the ground. His steering system got locked and he tries to pull the steering stick and it is not responding. He is struggling with it and refuses to eject too soon, his plane is rotating and he looks to the side and see Syria and looks again and see the ocean and looks again and see something else, he is rotating and loses altitude, he decides to eject. He ejects and on the ground there is a battle over who is going to get him?
The terrorists? Or the Christians? They shoot at each other and some shoots at him too. There is the Christian territory and the Muslim territory.
He manages to steer his parachute to land on the Christian side.
The Christians treat him well. Kept him about a day and send him back home with a small airplane.
After a day of a nightmare for us and his family who lived in the base we hear that he is well and will come. We never had a plane shot over enemy land in my three years of service aside for this.
We wake up, I don’t remember if it was 4:30AM or earlier, we were told that he is coming.
Everyone is going to the landing area and waiting. There is some food and drink like a party setup.
The small airplane is approaching and all of a sudden I see our jet fighters welcoming him mid air with low flights and aerobatics. It was quite spectacular and emotional. His family is all excited with his kids all waiting on the landing area.
Then we see him coming. Dressed with a training suit and is all smiling and happy. His back took some mild injury from the G forces of ejecting but he is overall well. His meeting with his family is unforgettable. So exciting and emotional.
He then talks to us and tells us what happened and leaves with his family.
About a week later he was already in the air again. It is a policy to minimize the time of being grounded to avoid developing a trauma and a backoff.

I believe that I heard that the IAF made some significant upgrades to some of their planes and the US actually threatened to hold off on supplying more military products until Israel showed them what they had done.
When I was in Israel I saw them doing practice flights. These guys are a true treasure. I’m sure these pilots are the standard the world over.

Yes all American planes are custom made and get improved systems inside. This is why the F16 is an F16I and the F35 is F35I, etc…. I don’t know about a US / Israel crisis on the matter. Initially Lokheed Martin had some oppositions and a compromise was reached. Israeli jet fighters have added internal fuel tanks to reach farther, compatibility to Israeli Israeli missiles, more capacity for flares and Chaff (things that are released to divert threatening missiles), Israeli warfare electronic systems that can jam enemy radars and Russian anti aircraft missies. Of course a lot is confidential so I don’t know it all. But I attach the best video that visualizes and explains it below. As to the stories that I promised i will add it above in an answer to another friend who asked for it. Here I am posting the video. Watch is, it’s very interesting.

Birds at my feeders:
I have an 8 lb squirrel proof feeder and two large seed blocks in cages up close to the windows on the North side of the sun room hanging on shepherds hooks. Then out on the old Cottonwood tree I have a 1 lb. feeder and another feeder for unsalted peanuts in the shell and corn on the cob. I spread critter and bird feed on the ground at the base of the cottonwood for the species that feed off the ground and won’t use the feeders.
Quite a list:
About 4 species of sparrows
House finches
Yellow Finch
black capped chickadees
Tufted Tit mouse
Nut hatches
Cow birds
Morning Doves
Blue Jays
Red Winged black birds
Common black birds
Purple Grackles
European Starlings
At least two pair of red breasted woodpeckers
Several pairs of Hairy woodpeckers
Several pairs of Downy woodpeckers
And two pair of Red Headed woodpeckers.
We have had a pair of the Red Headed woodpeckers stay for the season for several years now, but this is the first time we have had two pairs of that nearly endangered species.
We also have migrants pass through. Thursday a pair of Rose breasted grossbeaks stopped by to get a feed probably on the way further north to their nesting areas. And every couple years a magnificent Pileated woodpecker will stop by for a day or two checking out my old wood pile for insects and larva. Last year a Baltimore Oriole stopped by.
I have to fill the 1 lb feeder everyday. The critter feed I put on the ground every other day. The seed blocks last about three days. The 8 lb feeder 5-6 days. During the winter the species that winter over will empty that 8 lb feeder in 24-30 hours when there is snow on the ground and it gets down around zero degrees F.
The Red Headed woodpeckers dominate at the feeders with the Red Breasted coming in a distant 2nd. No other species, not even the Jays or the European Starlings, which come in groups, will screw with those two species.
The Red winged black birds and the Morning doves are the ones I really love to hear.
I also have at least 3 Fox Squirrels and a Piney (Red squirrel) that hit the feeders out on the Cotton wood tree. And one early morning while I had the dogs out to do their business I saw a Momma Possum and her three young ones feeding. For some reason I haven’t seen any raccoons stopping by. I see rabbit tracks in the snow during the winter that have stopped by to feed but haven’t actually seen them.
I only put out the peanuts in the shell every three days or so because trying to keep it full would run me into the poor house. the Jays and Woodpeckers are all over that feeder when it has nuts in it.
Sure the feeders make a mess under them. But I don’t care.

Good afternoon rah. Love to hear your bird feeder stories. I feed the birds here all year. Yesterday the house finches brought their fledglings to the bird feeder and were feeding them, until they got the idea they could get the seeds themselves. That was fun to watch. The feeders are out in front of my office windows, so I get to watch them while I’m on my computer. The Ruby-throated hummingbirds returned last week.
Do you remember the real bad winter around ,I think February 2021, here in Texas when the grid failed. I was going through 50 lb sacks of feed every few days. One morning I noticed a lonely female Robin. She was watching me from a distance. I had meal worms for the Eastern Blue Birds, who stay year round, in their own feeder. I threw some on the ground then walked away. The Robin came over and ate them. That whole week of bitter cold she waited a distance from me until I put meal worms out for her on the ground, several times during the day. She hung around all during that week of cold. When it warmed up again I didn’t see her. In all my years of feeding and watching the birds, I had never seen a Robin actually looking for feed from a human. I felt so privileged to witness this. It was quite special to me.
I do see a flock of Robins every year early Spring when we get the rain, so I hope she is in that group.
I keep a log of what birds show up here. I’ve had Inca Doves, and White-Winged Doves, and I think I am located on the fringe of their territory, as they are not supposed to be here in my area. Also have the Morning Doves and Ground Doves. Love to listen to them.
I’ve also had the privilege of seeing a male Belted Kingfisher near my pond. Great Blue Herons and Giant White Egrets are daily visitors at the pond. Late Winter brings the Wood Ducks and Double Crested Cormorants for about a week.
My Carolina Wrens are making a nest under the lid of my propane tank again this year. They are smart as no predators can fit into that little hole they fly in and out of!

We have plenty of Robins here. They love to come feed right after I cut the grass. They’re doing well this year I think because of the rain bringing up the worms. Had one nest on the flange of the I beam that supports the garage overhanging gable. She successfully raised two broods in that nest. I left it up all winter but no bird occupied it so I’ve taken it down.
The sparrows and house finches and woodpeckers bring their young to our seed blocks to teach them to feed also. Very cute.

We have barn swallows. Every year they nest in the unused chimney of Steve’s garage. They are wonderful flyers, unbelievably quick when on the hunt. They’ll come down low and swoop around Steve or Betty when their mowing the back field to pick off the insects the mower kicks up. Fun to watch.
During the summer during the evening as the sun goes down they show up circling Steve’s garage in formation. Then one peels off and goes down into the chimney. Around the go again, and another peels off and goes down the chimney. Repeat until they’re all tucked in for the night.
Leave for Daytona Beach the 8th for a week to see my kids and granddaughter.
Had Jimmy over for dinner yesterday. He’s the house and dog sitter we went over the routine with him. $50.00 a day to have someone in the house you trust taking care of the two dogs and the cat is a bargain these days. He even feeds my birds and squirrels! Tuesday I take him to the grocery store to pick out what he wants in the house to eat while we’re gone.
Also having a neighbor like Steve that will check in on Jimmy and help him out if some problem comes up is a great plus!
Niki has stopped all chemo. She has fought the good fight for two years with multiple course of different chemo but despite having the Mayo Clinic on the job the cancer has spread to her heart and spleen. She just wants to live out the rest of her life not being sick and weak every day. She and Laura were heading for the beach yesterday and she was excited about it.
Allison is thriving. She’s a great goalie on her soccer team. Honors society student. Way ahead of her grade level in almost every subject, including math and english. Not afraid to stand up for herself or any other kid she thinks is being bullied. She is tall for her age and I think she’s going to be a real looker. If she was a few years older I think she would qualify to be one of Musk’s DOGE whizz kids.
I may whine a little bit about the mowing this time of year, but Steve and I coordinate so we mow at the same time and I sure looks nice looking out the sun room windows over acres of well kept and mowed field with trees. This morning we had a Peacock walking up the driveway. it is one of several that got away from someone out here that we see and hear occasionally.

COMMENTARY FOR 1 CORINTHIANS 1
“The Corinthian church contained some Jews, but more Gentiles, and the apostle had to contend with the superstition of the one, and the sinful conduct of the other. The peace of this church was disturbed by false teachers, who undermined the influence of the apostle. Two parties were the result; one contending earnestly for the Jewish ceremonies, the other indulging in excesses contrary to the gospel, to which they were especially led by the luxury and the sins which prevailed around them. This epistle was written to rebuke some disorderly conduct, of which the apostle had been apprized, and to give advice as to some points whereon his judgment was requested by the Corinthians. Thus the scope was twofold. 1. To apply suitable remedies to the disorders and abuses which prevailed among them. 2. To give satisfactory answers on all the points upon which his advice had been desired. The address, and Christian mildness, yet firmness, with which the apostle writes, and goes on from general truths directly to oppose the errors and evil conduct of the Corinthians, is very remarkable. He states the truth and the will of God, as to various matters, with great force of argument and animation of style.A salutation and thanksgiving. (1-9)”
All Christians are by baptism dedicated and devoted to Christ, and are under strict obligations to be holy. But in the true church of God are all who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, and who call upon him as God manifest in the flesh, for all the blessings of salvation; who acknowledge and obey him as their Lord, and as Lord of all; it includes no other persons. Christians are distinguished from the profane and atheists, that they dare not live without prayer; and they are distinguished from Jews and pagans, that they call on the name of Christ. Observe how often in these verses the apostle repeats the words, Our Lord Jesus Christ. He feared not to make too frequent or too honourable mention of him. To all who called upon Christ, the apostle gave his usual salutation, desiring, in their behalf, the pardoning mercy, sanctifying grace, and comforting peace of God, through Jesus Christ. Sinners can have no peace with God, nor any from him, but through Christ. He gives thanks for their conversion to the faith of Christ; that grace was given them by Jesus Christ. They had been enriched by him with all spiritual gifts. He speaks of utterance and knowledge. And where God has given these two gifts, he has given great power for usefulness. These were gifts of the Holy Ghost, by which God bore witness to the apostles. Those that wait for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, will be kept by him to the end; and those that are so, will be blameless in the day of Christ, made so by rich and free grace. How glorious are the hopes of such a privilege; to be kept by the power of Christ, from the power of our corruptions and Satan’s temptations!”

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Well, I just found out that my nephew Mason, who is the GM of the family business, has Stage IIIC colon cancer. Apparently it’s in the sigmoid. The reason why it’s IIIC is because it’s in the local lymph nodes. No cancer in evidence anywhere else. I think he’s only 43 years old. The big C sure is making it’s rounds in our family right now it seems.

I was amazed to see that in exodus, but it has great merit if you meditate on that issue. The promises of God are laws just as gravity cannot be changed.
Also, heaven resides in our thinking as well as hell. The word of God is the mirror to see your thoughts, the sword dividing asunder the bone from the morrow. Cool stuff!
