I’ve lost count of how many large foals I’ve had to pull from mares when I had my ranch. Now I’ve got just my old, (28 this year), breeding stallion left, and he has earned his keep one hundred times over and will get the best alfalfa and senior feed I can give him.

To have a ranch with many horses… you have been truly blessed. There’s just something about horses that’s really special.
When I was a little kid I would work and save every penny so I could rent a horse and go riding when I could. We lived on the edge of town and there was a lady who owned land along the river close to us and she had stalls and pastures where people could board their horses.
She also had a string of horses people could rent. Each weekend, both Saturday and Sunday, at one, two and 3 o’clock she would take out a ride along the river for one hour. I was on one of those rides almost every weekend.
When I was about 10 years old Irma, the lady with the stables, offered to rent me one of her string for a whole month! I was in heaven. For $20 I could have my own horse for a month.
There were a bunch of kids who had horses there and for a month I was one of the ‘gang’. Greatest memories of my youth.
Irma was like a horse whisperer long before there was such a thing. Lots of folks in town who wanted a horse for their kid would go to her, tell her what they were looking for and she would get them a horse. She would go to auctions to get the horses, usually 2 year old unbroke horses, and she would break them.
She taught me how to do that. After my one month, June, was up she let me keep coming down for free and help her break the young horses.
Then at the end of August she asked me to come down to see some new horses she had bought.
There was some man who leased a couple thousand acres of land and had Morgan herds running on it. They were wild horses that ran free. He had lost his lease on the land so all the horses had been rounded up and sold at auction.
Irma had bought one, a bay gelding, 18 months old. Wild as a march hare. She had him in a stall and asked me if I would like to break him and keep him as my very own horse. Of course, the answer was yes!
I named him Joey. Since he was only 18 months I had about 6 months to just gain his trust and work with him before I could think about riding him. Greatest time of my life. I can still remember as though it were yesterday the first time I rode him. I walked him into her arena, closed the gate, got on him and just walked him around and around the arena for a couple of hours. I never wanted that day to end.
Oh Patty I loved horses my whole life growing up. Rented one when I could but it wasn’t very often, as I was one of four girls with a dad enlisted in the Navy and not making a whole lot of money.
At the age of 40, my girlfriend’s daughter had an old ranch gelding and I bought him and my girlfriend and I rode on the trails of the Arizona mountains. Thrill of my life as the old gelding, Sunny, was used to take cows up to the mountains in the spring and back down to lower elevations in the Fall. He loved running up the trails and jumping over fallen logs on the trails. What a grand way to really learn to ride.
At the age of 49, God gave me my often prayed for request. The man I married wanted a horse ranch so we moved from the Mogollon Rim in Arizona mountains to North Texas with Sunny in a small horse trailer with chickens, a stray cow dog, which was very pregnant and hungry we
picked up at a rest stop between New Mexico and Arizona and our other two dogs.
When we got to the ranch in Texas, Suzy, our stray that evening delivered three puppies. What a load of fun that drive was! By the way, that drive didn’t phase the chickens as they laid eggs that very morning! Wonderful, great memories.
I am so happy God so blessed you. What wonderful memories you have. And to have a horse ranch! That’s truly the icing on the cake.
Once I hit 70 I seem to take more strolls down memory lane. Memories are kind of like what our skeleton is to our flesh, the framework of our life.
And that you still have your beloved stallion – what a treasure.
I will be 75 this year. Memories are what keeps me happy, content and loving God for giving me all this.
I can not ride any longer as I broke my right hip last April, so swinging that leg over would be quite the challenge even though my surgeon released me in December and said as long as I was on a platform to mount the horse and it wouldn’t throw me. He said he had ranchers that after hip surgery/replacement were still riding.
My, what I called, bombproof horses have all passed on, and the stallion has some arthritis so I wouldn’t want to ride him any more, although he has always been quiet when I rode him to bring up my cows to separate the calves to wean.
I’ve enjoyed talking with you so much today. I feel blessed to be able to come to the CTH and get an education and talk with those that have the same ideals and love God. Have a blessed evening Patty.

Gagarin was fascinated by flight from an early age, building model airplanes with other children in his youth. He went on to volunteer at a flying club for training as a Soviet air cadet, subsequently being accept to the Air Force pilots school in 1955.
After undergoing physical and psychological testing in 1959, Gagarin was selected along with a group of other pilots for the Soviet space programme. Then in 1960, he was selected for the final group of candidates known as the ‘Vanguard Six.’

Biography: Milton Berle broke into show business by winning a Charlie Chaplin impersonation contest aged 5 and went on to become the first major American television star, so much so he was dubbed ‘Mr Television’.
Berle had a successful career on stage, in vaudeville and on radio before landing a role on the new TV version of “Texaco Star Theater” in 1948. He became its permanent host and dominated the early days of television with his quick wit, gags and funny costumes. The show was so popular it is reputed to have driven the sales of new televisions and forced bars and clubs to change their usual day of closing to the same day the show was on.

Regrettably most of us are a product of who everybody else thinks we are, and since they themselves don’t understand who they are, they project mostly their own insecurities, and we end up with one very blurred/distorted vision of reality. The “manual” of course is the key. Not just as a moral history lesson, and bunch of rules, but the gateway/code to unlock “the spirit of your mind” in order to “know” God – a noble quest, if that is even possible, yet might be the actual reason of our existence.
Just a qualifier – the “moral history and bunch of rules” are 100% necessary – perhaps my use of wording needs refinement.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles.
