Good morning Miss Betsy. Thank you for all the photos of cats every Saturday. This kitten looks just like one that has shown up in my chicken coop about 4 weeks ago. Not sure how it got in there to begin with. I’m feeding it but it has not warmed up to me as yet. Funniest part is, this cat waits for me to let the chickens out and then it romps and attempts to play with them. Entertainment every morning watching the cat try to rub up against the hens.
Afternoon, Miss P….pleasure 😘 Sort of like one of the two who have mysteriously turned up at ours then. Maybe this little mite will become like Garrison’s Tink who started out the same way and now adores him. I certainly hope so.

Miss B!! I was prepared for “short for Bea”… but not that!!! 😂😂😂 What an elegant way to describe her nature, ncbird. Cats really are their own people. Weve had so many, and no two had even similar personalities. We adjusted ours to each one, as is required of us, we who love them. We could say of the sweet rescue above that Masha was more dog than cat, so out of feline character did it seem. But all the same more human than the one who bore that precious child.
I am sorry you’ve become allergic. We’ve been catless for a few years until recently when two waifs crossed our path. Not on a permanent basis mind. We serve as an ” as needed” B&B. One, a multi coloured male, spent a few days sussing out our premises and decided we’d do. So now he comes in for breakfast, then retreats to a back bedroom where he catches up on his shut eye for the whole day, then out again. He loves his pats, strokes, and brushes. Still working on names…Lovely Lad is what I am calling him for the moment, while my husband calls him Goodfellow, which he is.
The other, a sweet but wary black and white one, hangs about and has come in (barely) to check us out, but is too jittery to stay. We live in hope one day, he will settle and enjoy Chez Jones as his companion does.

I figure with all the chaos and uncertainty which we are immersed in daily in this old world it’s a pleasant way to withdraw and see a funnier and happier side of life which gets buried too easily. I think age, which has pretty much left me alone so far, has decided it’s time to makes its presence felt. Coffee helps so I’m on my second strongish one. Been dreaming lately, something I never do. It’s funny, Betsy. What I like so much about this verse, and the song by Jon Gibson that it highlights, is the reminder that God is close to every one of us because he seeks us out. Every person has gotten a love letter from God, as evidenced in His word and creation, that says “I’m here, I want to have fellowship with you, all you have to do is reach out a hand and place it in the hand that’s reaching out to you!” It’s a comforting and amazing thought, that the God of the universe, self-sufficient, needing nothing, wants to have a relationship with us, so much so that he would, in the person of Jesus Christ, die in our place to pay the penalty of the sin that separates us from Him. So no matter how confused and disordered the situation gets for us, he hears us – he knows what’s on our hearts.
As you’ve so rightly posted, “He has bent down to hear us and our prayers, no matter how quiet or jumbled they may be.” 🙂
Oh I so agree that he does hear us. I’m a walking example of his mercy and love. I’ll try to be brief. Last March I had a stroke, went in the hospital two days then rehab for one week. Walked out with 95% working correctly. In April I fell and broke my right hip. No good deed goes unpunished as I was at my 84 year old neighbors house to drive him to get laser surgery on his eye when I fell. Now I’ve got quite a chunk of metal in there. Smiling. Was in rehab four weeks, left then PT and OP for four weeks at home. By July I was driving and only using a cane. Now I do not even have to use a cane, and have been able to do just about everything I was doing before. In December the surgeon released me. I just tire more easily than I used to, but that could be my age. I had two valleys to go through, but now am on the mountain again thanks to my gracious and loving God.

Well, Aggie… I guess in this company… the “whipper snapper” title fits. I’m okay with it. I am blessed to sit at the feet of such wisdom amongst us. I love the stories and the life experiences and the lessons learned therein.
As for “cattitude”… my cattitude had its fur standing on end this week. Made me worn out which seems to be the normal for me lately. I need a vacation and recharge. Pretty badly. Summer is coming and end of kiddo’s school…. so camping is on the horizon and I think I will need to do more of it this year to recharge, so I can be ready with the Armor of God to fight the demons.

Had the Alzheimer’s kitty who beats up on the Maine Coon both sleeping at my legs this afternoon as I captured some Z’s on the couch. The lion was sleeping with the lamb and all was at peace… thank God.
We all know that age is is a measure of the life lived. I feel 90.
Kiddo’s work shift was canceled this evening and we rejoiced over it. She found an old folio of DVDs from her little tike days and has loaded a hand drawn Disney tale before Disney became so weird and digitized and woke. Feels like “The Wonderful World of Disney” at 6 PM on Sunday nights again in our home… back from the days when you and I were little.
Good times.

Thank you. Thank you for the kind prayer. I had some pretty major issues come down this week. Major loss of a key employee and another staff member in our small business for terrible reasons. Then, I was Spiritually attacked and I was faced in an instant with choosing God or my livelihood.
I chose God.
The instant I chose God… it was like a heavy chain fell off me. An awful experience, but a beautiful relief.
I opened my front door today, thinking it was the Amazon delivery… and the blood drained from my face as the two attackers were on my front porch. I did not let them into my home under any circumstances and met them head on outside. They both tower over me… but my GOD IS WAY BIGGER. We had a “Come to meet Jesus” meeting and I shared Scripture, life lessons walking in the Christian faith.
By the time it was over, both grown men were in tears because The Holy Spirit was working on them so hard.
Esther 4:14 appeared in my email that I hadn’t read yet, in the middle of this crisis, and they had no idea who Esther was… so I told them her story and what she did to intervene for her people and I likened our scenario to that one. That even under the fear of death, she interceded for her people.
Sometimes evil overtakes people and they’ve co-existed with it for so long, it becomes a lifestyle. The son of the father tried to pull a fast one having adopted strategy from the life and practices of the father… tried to coerce and manipulate me to do something very wrong using the power of his father… and I said “No.” under threat of denying the son and retribution coming from the father who controls my paycheck.
What a horrible test of my faith and looking at my daughter and feeling the roof over our head was jeopardized. What a terrible sinking feeling. Maybe this is why God has kept me here? Because He Is pursuing them.
I hope this experience teaches both of them a valuable lesson on how behaviors affect those who are collateral damage around them. How so easily poor decisions can ruin their and others’ lives, reputations, and integrity. And above all… actions built on lies are like a house built on sinking sand. No foundation and doomed to fall.
God appears to be saving a family here. I pray we broke some generational sin here today. May their lives become a great testimony, I pray.
We must have courage to stand even when we are scared out of our minds. God Is with us through our fears. Today, it’s a win for the Kingdom. I hope it stays that way as the grip on these two is strong.
Together we all keep fighting the good fight of faith.

When I was a young Christian back in the early 1980’s, I ran across a gospel tract that was written by a missionary that ministered up in Alaska during the construction of the oil pipeline from the north slope.
In the course of his work, he was shown some data from a petroleum engineer at that time. The engineer told him that there is more oil under the north slope of Alaska than in Saudi Arabia.
So much oil, in fact, that the original plan included 3 (4 ft. diameter) pipelines to carry it all.
Due to massive complications mainly caused by government, only one was built and put into operation.
He wrote a book along with the tract, but I never bought it. I think I still have the tract packed away with vintage gospel tracts somewhere in my mother’s basement.
When I dig it up, I will have to put in a search in eBay and Amazon. Maybe someday I will be fortunate enough to find the book. I have no clue as to the name of the author without finding the tract.
If CA would tap their natural gas reserves, they wouldn’t have so many earthquakes.

If NY would have allowed fracking in the Marcellus shale formation under a large portion of the state, we would have had an economic boom.
Alas, that was prevented by Andrew Cuomo because upstate NY (outside a few large municipalities) votes overwhelming (R).
So they lied, using the green new scam, to amend the state constitution to ban fracking. Something that cannot be easily undone.
The pollution evidence they cited was erroneous. It is my understanding that fracking was developed in more arid regions. Those techniques were not suitable for areas receiving much more rainfall.

Good morning from Northern Ontario. The cows are all laying down and seem to be enjoying the warmer weather.
We have one dear mom that seems to be close to calving. My daughter took a light out last night to check on them. Nothing yet. It is nice if you can get them right away and then them dried off with towels they do much better.
Last weekend my loader tractor short circuited and a whole bunch of wiring fried to the ignition switch. My dad is coming up with another tractor this morning and also extra wiring that he keeps around so we can fix the burnt one.
My son has classes that get him one step before life guard. He isn’t old enough yet to complete his NL(National Lifeguard) but this will get him so that he can be an assistant Life Guard as a summer job at camp this summer. My daughter is fully certified last year.
She came up with me so I wouldn’t fall asleep. Allan Jackson from her play list in her phone coming up. I’m not good at that tech stuff of creating play lists for car rides.
Anyway. Coffee sure is going down good this morning! Enjoy the Saturday.

Wonder your tractor didn’t catch fire from the wiring. Many a barn and tractor shed has been lost in our area thru the years from tractor fires. A battery disconnect for when parked and not in use can help prevent tractor fires.

Absolutely. My wife is a family physician. She was raised in a rather different culture and experience.
I laugh every time she is out with me as we feed cows together. I doubt she ever imagined that she would be with rubber boots out in the cow pasture.
I’m glad she is out with me because many of the characteristics of women and cows are not terribly different. Her experience is surely loved and appreciated around this farm.
Last year I sustained a terrible hit to the head and was bleeding like crazy. She ushered me up to the house and cleaned me up. Then a phone call to her friend who has a clinic up here. He drove in, opened it up and it was Saturday afternoon stitches with his family and mine gathered around! 😂

Good morning Dan. Twenty-five years ago, I married and soon after we left the Mongollon Rim in Arizona and moved to North Texas because he wanted a horse ranch. At the age of 49, I learned to buck hay, herd cattle (on horseback), pulled large foals out of mares, mucked stalls and learned to ride cutting horses. Do not regret any of it. What a wonderful ride it has been. By myself now, so sized down to a smaller place but still have my 28 year old breeding stallion and some chickens. Thanks for bringing back good memories. Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

About 30 years ago my husband and I were rehabbing a house that was so bad it should have been razed and not restored.
We were both working regular full-time jobs, and working on old fixer-uppers we lived in at the same time, in our “free” time.
One Saturday my husband went up a very tall ladder multiple times with multiple pieces of new trim to replace the rotten wood that had been there.
When he was done I spent the rest of the day going up that same ladder, painting the trim as far as I could reach, moving the ladder, painting again, and doing that same thing across the front of the house until the first coat of paint was applied, then started over applying 3 different paint colors on the board at the same time (with 3 buckets of paint hanging from the ladder and 3 different paint brushes wrapped in plastic bags hanging out of my pockets) until the entire trim of that one area of our old “Painted Lady” was done.
It was around 9:30 when we got done working for the day, and the sky was finally getting dark. We were pooped, but happy we’d gotten so much work done.
Went inside, took showers, hopped in bed and then we heard it. A squirrel making all kinds of chirping sounds outside on our front yard. The squirrel was kind of screaming, making loud noises, but with a chirpy sound.
Then we saw it run up to the house, and next thing we knew something was running back and forth across the top of the house.
We lay there silently and listened.
That was when we heard a terrible sound; the quiet cries of baby squirrels in the attic.
Momma was trapped outside and her babies were trapped inside when the new trim was installed, and the first chance she’d had to try to get to her babies was when we went inside for the night.
At 10:30 my husband gets dressed, goes outside, puts the ladder up against the house and climbs it with a crowbar in one hand, and rips off the newly installed trim looking for where momma squirrel can get inside and take care of her babies.
Three weeks later, after we knew the entire squirrel family was long gone, the trim went up again.
Kudos and blessings to you and your husband. We can just imagine that mother’s anguish. ❤️
A medical (true) short story by Doc
90 yr old man was admitted to hospital with pneumonia. His health had been declning and his younger wife had quit her job to care for him.
After getting the old man stable, Doc took him off all his many medicatons and put him on our good multi and essential fatty acid products – and sent him home.
During a follow up visit, Doc asked the wife how things are going. She said hubby is doing so well she went back to work. But there were 2 problems. 1) he got out on the tractor and wouldn’t come in for lunch. Doc said – ‘only give him half a tank of gas.’
2) she worried about him splitting wood with maul and axe. Doc had no recommendations. He gave her a hug and sent them on their way

We have a huge murder of crows here – and boy Are they noisy! Not just cawing, but also some clicking sort of noise. I’ve read that they are terribly bright and also can develop a liking for certain humans, and can hold a grudge if they deem you unkind!
I enjoy them, but they do tend to displace the great horned owls. whom I also enjoy. They also get to a huge amount of our pecans just before we do!

I love those very smart and very emotional birds. Love them.
I have had many crows through the years. Never inside, but they were my outdoor pets, without a doubt. I would call to them and they would answer. I would call to them and they would come to me, albeit 20 feet up in a tree.
One time one of my crows was damaged by a passing car — probably by someone who wanted to kill it on purpose (my brother-in-law hates crows and does exactly that) — and very damaged and in terrible trouble he walked into our yard and walked up right next to me to let me know he was in big trouble.
I picked him up, took him to a wild animal advocacy hospital, and told the people there that this was MY bird and pleaded for them to help. Soon they had me cleaning the gravel out of his eyes, giving him water via a syringe, and just doing things to check him out. They said he needed to be still for a few days until his wings recovered a bit, so I asked if I could bring him home and take care of him there.
They said it was illegal to let me do that, but said yes anyway.
Wow. It was one of the greatest joys of my life to be able to care for my bird.
I have photographs of him perched on the shower ring in a big old bathroom we never used, but was his home for a week. As he perched there I’d talk to him and scratch the top of his head, trying to get all the embedded gravel out of his skin, and removing the dried blood from his feathers. As I took care of him he slowly lowered his head and closed his eyes, as if to tell me he approved of what I was doing.
In less than a week he’d gotten better and I thought he needed to stay longer to make sure he was OK. My husband, who knows his wife is a little wacky when it comes to letting go, said it was time for him to go. He was right.
As we took the big dog cage my big crow was carried in outside his murder showed up in force! They all knew me, too, and between them and “my” crow, the neighborhood was alive with the joyful sounds of family.
The door was opened and away he flew, 20 feet up in a tree.
I am going to post a speech I gave years ago when I was a member of Toastmasters. I started and stopped the speech holding a crow/raven mask in front of my face, and I made a huge cardboard cutout of a raven in flight to hold over my head when I get to the part of my speech where I talk about the size of an average raven.
I totally agree with you about the insanity of not being able to own crows or ravens. Remember the raven in ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’? Super cool to see.
The thing that sickens me the most about not being able to own crows or ravens is the fact that any one at any time can kill all the crows or ravens they want. First time I heard that I thought it couldn’t be true ’cause of them being “protected” and all that crap. Then I did a quick search on the internet and found photo after photo showing lots of dead crows and ravens. Broke my heart knowing how truly sweet those birds really are.
But at this point in my life, I prefer to “own” my crows and ravens — of which I have many — while allowing them to soar freely and just come visit me.

In 1930s America there was a bounty on my head of one penny. When I am in a group of my own kind, we are called a murder. My family is Corvidae. I. . . am a crow.
All my life I have been attracted to crows and ravens. While in Yellowstone last month, my interest in those birds was once again piqued. I have since discovered that I am a Corvidophile. . . a person who is an admirer of the Corvidae family of birds. I am also a Corvidologist, a person who studies and is interested in that same family of birds. This morning I would like to share my interest in those birds with you.
The Corvidae family of birds consists of ravens, crows, magpies, and jays, and lesser-known birds such as jackdaws, rooks, nutcrackers and choughs (chuf like cuff). Choughs are known to exist only in Ireland, and currently number only in the hundreds. Blackbirds are not in the Corvidae family.
Ravens are the largest birds in the corvidae family. Ravens are the largest of all the perching birds in the world. Ravens are the largest all black bird in the world. They have black eyes, black beaks, black legs and black feathers. The average height of a raven is 24”. The average length of a raven is 44” from the tip of its beak to the end of it’s tail, and the average wingspan of a raven is 50”. Here is what it would look like if an average sized raven flew over my shoulder.
Ravens and crows are the largest species of songbirds in the world. Yes, I said songbirds. Although the only sound most people think of when it comes to crows, ravens and blue jays is the cawing sound they make, Crows are known to have a greater repertoire of sounds and songs than any other bird in the world. As a matter of fact, crows are considered the linguists of the bird world. When we think of a bird that can repeat human sounds, we usually think of parrots. But it is a proven fact that crows are better mimics of the human voice than any other bird. Crows have been known to copy the sound of human laughter, of other animals, and of other birds.
More than their size and great talent, Corvids are considered the most intelligent birds in the world.
The Audubon Society Encyclopedia of North American Birds states that corvids have achieved the highest degree of intelligence to be found in any bird.

In August 2002 a study of crow intelligence was done in Oxford, England. The results of that study made world news.
A crow named Betty was tested to see if she would select a straight stick or a hooked stick to use as a tool in getting grubs out of a log. Betty’s cage mate stole the hooked stick from Betty, and what Betty did next amazed the scientists. Betty took the straight stick, made a hook on the end of it and used it to get the grub out of the piece of wood. No other animal before, not even mans closest relative, the primate, had ever both made a tool and used a tool before Betty made her hook . . . no animal other than man. To make sure it wasn’t a fluke the scientists ran that same test on Betty ten times. Nine times out of ten Betty found a way to make a hook on the end of a straight stick so she could feed herself.
Crows intelligence has not always gone unnoticed. Years ago Aesop wrote a fanciful tale titled ‘The Crow and the Pitcher.’ In the story a thirsty crow comes upon a pitcher of water. He leans over to drink out of the pitcher, but the water is too low in the pitcher for the crow to drink. The thirsty crow flies away, finds a rock, brings it back, and drops it in the pitcher. He again flies away, finds a rock, brings it back, and drops it in the pitcher. He repeats that process over and over again, until the rocks rise in the pitcher, making the water level rise also. The thirsty crow drinks his fill, then flies away. A tall tale? Betty in Oxford, England probably doesn’t think so!
