We’ve got a nesting pair on the hill above our house. 1st set in 30 years told neighbors to keep an eye out they love cats and the like, love the hoots in the night 🇺🇸🤠🇺🇸

Our previous place had a rather long driveway. My wife befrended a little calico kitty who, at the time, lived in a brush pile on the street. Soon, she was running down the long driveway when we came home so she could get her fur brushed or get some food. That’s when the owl appeared in an adjacent tree. This immediately caused a deadly race between “Calico” and the owl. Fortunately, Calico was just a bit faster in reaching the safety of our porch. When we moved to our current house she came with us. She lived a long and happy life as one of our 7 kitties . . 🙂
Lucky kitty them owls have some talons, had a few times in my life when a owl, hawk and even eagle go silently by and grab a critter close to me and it’s quite a surprise 😳

Once upon a time, I lived in Houston. There was a nearby neighborhood—Montrose—which was mainly populated by ageing hippies and musicians. It was a place of cheap rent, 60’s grace, and remarkable low-end comfort — at least as I prefer to remember it. I had the good fortune to become friends with Guy Clark and Townes Van Zant. This was way before they became famous.
Nonetheless we were the kind of friends who bond, at least for awhile. I was just getting into classical guitar. I owned a decidedly low end Gibson C1 classical. I t wasn’t much but was the best I could afford. Alas, late one night I stepped on it and broke the top.
The guys at H&H music told me to take it to Guy Clark who was a good guitar repairman in addition to be a working musician. Long story short: Guy knew I didn’t have any money to repair my cheap guitar, but he also understood that it was all I had. So. Guy Clark repaired my broken top for me . . . and, as I recall, only charged me $5 bucks.
A little more oral history from back-in-the-day . . .
He called it dispensation. Special dispensation for white boys. There was a routine Guy Clark would remember years later: Someone would call ahead and get clearance that that a group of young white boys wanted to come see Lightning Hopkins. The blues legend would give the okay and upon arrival, would come out to meet them and escort them to their table. Hopkins might have been nasty but felt it necessary to make the point that they were there with him. Just a bunch of white boys probably too stupid to know they were going to places white boys in Houston didn’t belong.

Last week, I was not feeling myself, and was having trouble breathing. I went to to my doctor, she took chest x-rays there were spots on my lungs, she was very concerned, so off the a CAT Scan and Pet scan.
Unfortunately, I have been told, I have stage 4 lung cancer 🙁 ( I kicked Cancers ass already, but you dont come back from that, So Ive been told. No time table given yet, but it is inevitable, that God will bring me into his arms, sooner, rather than later. I am not afraid, in fact, I hope this goes quickly, with less pain. . Ive watched others loved die from and it is not pretty. I dont want to be remembered this way, there are choices to be made, but my will to live is strong, never doubt it.
I only pray and hope that my children, my grand children and the good people worldwide, stand up to the evil tyrants that want WW3 and mass death ,so they can rule over the ashes, and planning to have most of the world, vaporized.
I wouldnt profess to understand what it will take to remove these vermin hell bent on war, but whatever is it, it must be done and soon.
These cultists do not rest. They plot, scheme and lie to keep the plan under wraps.
The sunlight and the power of Almighty God must be thrown at them, . The God battle must be fought, if we are to survive as free people.

I unfortunately, live in the socialist country of Canada. I have been researching this topic, and the use of Ivermectin. Along with other drugs. Many have reported excellent results, but as always, Big Harma and many cancer centers reject the use of anything that doesn’t make them money.
I’m not sure my family doctor or oncologist will let me have any of them. I see them next Wednesday. I will be asking for several drugs, Ivermectin at the top of the list.
I dont see any reason why they would say no, but we dont have the right to try here, as far as I know. They are prescription only here in Canada. We will see how much they care about my life being extended or perhaps saved. I keep the faith no matter what. Im not ready to leave this earth, and if it comes to that, I’m ok with it. I’ve faced it before, and won. We shall see how it goes.
As we all know, lung cancer is one of the ones that you dont survive. But a 1 per cent chance is better than 0.

Two letters to the captives in Babylon; In the first, they are recommended to be patient and composed. (1-19) In the second, judgments are denounced against the false prophets who deceived them. (20-32)1-7 The written word of God is as truly given by inspiration of God as his spoken word. The zealous servant of the Lord will use every means to profit those who are far off, as well as those who are near him. The art of writing is very profitable for this end; and by the art of printing it is rendered most beneficial for circulating the knowledge of the word of God. God’s sending to the captives by this letter would show that he had not forsaken them, though he was displeased, and corrected them. If they live in the fear of God, they may live comfortably in Babylon. In all conditions of life, it is our wisdom and duty not to throw away the comfort of what we may have, because we have not all we would have. They are directed to seek the good of the country where they were captives. pointed a lil to close
alarms went off
all the guards came running over
lots of noise
they came quick
ready to do their job
they were really mad
then they saw it was just me
they all knew me
we knew each other very well
so
it was ok
much laughter
all i did was point out to her where Rembrandt painted himself in the painting
my finger got a lil to close

it was very crazy for a while
but
i was smilin through the whole deal

Well a Piney (American Red Squirrel) just moved in and ran off the fox squirrel that has been hitting my feeders. I suspect that once the pine trees start producing cones again the Piney will go back to it’s preferred habitat and source of food and the fox squirrels will come back.
Steve tells me that the squirrels have been burying whole peanuts I have been leaving out for them around a pile of wood he has left over from the log cabin we built in his back field last summer.
I swear that some of the birds give me the stink eye when I let one of the seed blocks get too far down or let the 8 lb. feeder get empty.
I am surprised that the fox squirrels aRe intimidated by the smaller reds.
I see that happening in my yard too.
On another note, today’s temp is so nice that I went outside and cleaned out five birdhouses (wren and blue), and subsequently evicted three tenants (field mice).
I figured it was warm enough that they are safe to be out of the birdhouses by now. If they get desperate at night, there’s enough places for them to hover for cover.
one of the (nailed into the tree) houses they (mice) took over is a bluebird house. Hoping to see my very first bluebird family use it this spring.
I have no idea if birds will get scared off by the mice smell, and therefore reject the house.

If you wonder what is happening to college education, you need to see an email my girlfriend just got. She teaches at a local community college and assigned a paper that was due right before the spring break (this week). She woke up early and spent until lunchtime grading these papers, so that she could get her midterm grades for the class turned in on time. After posting the grades, she gets this note from a student:
“Good afternoon!
I am aware that you are unlikely to receive this email but I was unable to turn in the paper by the date because I was invited on a spontaneous spring break with friends and didn’t have time to do the assignment until we settled into the cabin we are staying at. Unfortunately, the cabin does not have wifi and I have no service at the cabin so I am unable to work on it or turn it in. I understand if you cannot help me out.
Thank you so much!”
I’m working from home today and am watching my girlfriend have a meltdown over this. I said to just ignore this: the paper is due when it’s due. The little bastard can still turn it in late this week for a reduced grade. And if he doesn’t have internet, that’s on him. The students had two weeks to do the paper plus the extra week for late submission. So screw this idiot for running off on a vacation before the paper was done and finding no internet at the vacation spot.
But my girlfriend is terrified that this guy will go to the dean with a complaint that she is not being “flexible” or “supportive”. She is seriously upset and doesn’t know what to do. Apparently, other professors in her position would allow the student to turn in the paper extremely late for some points. Even after the late period is over. I could see if the guy was sick, but that’s not what happened.
This is why college grads go into the workplace and think they don’t have to come in on time or every day. The professors can get in trouble if they don’t coddle the students.
Does anyone here have kids in college?
He knew the rules and what was expected of him as an ‘adult’. It would not be fair to the other students to give him special conditions to suit his social life. Sooner or later he has to learn he is not the center of the universe.
