There are actually 2 Saguaro National Parks – one on the far west side of Tucson and one on the far east side. The west side encompasses a very mountainous area in addition to rolling desert. Sunset there is something to behold.
Many old western series and movies were filmed on the outskirts of the West Park in “Old Tucson.” The list is bigly huge: Arizona 1940, Gunfight at the OK Corral 1957, Winchester ’73 1957, Rio Bravo 1959, The Outlaw Josie Wales 1976 – and many more.
The Arizona Sonora Desert Museum – a world class showcase of flora and fauna of the area is also there.
There is much to criticize about Tucson – but, this area is among the best this area has to offer. If you make it this way – don’t miss Saguaro National Park and environs.
The movie, El Dorado, has many scenes in the area we live (40 to 50 miles south) of Tucson – close to Tubac. Tubac has a very storied history: from Spanish Presidio, to territorial fort during the Apache wars. Much of its history is still evident, crumbling – but interesting.

I don’t believe it was ever really about the delta smelt. It was about power and control. The smelt was just the vehicle used to control the water and who did and did not get it. And when the dams came down so did the power plants and we now have about the highest price for electricity in the country.

The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
Verse 3. – The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding – keeping watch on – the evil and the good. The omnipresence and omniscience of Jehovah, the covenant God, is strongly insisted upon, and the sacred name recurs continually in this and the next chapter, and indeed throughout this Book of the Proverbs (see Wordsworth, in loc.). The LXX. renders the verb σκοπεύοιυσι “are watching,” as from a tower or high place. To the usual references we may add Ecclus. 15:18, 19 Ecclus. 23:19, 20. Corn. a Lapide quotes Prudentius’s hymn, used in the Latin Church at Thursday Lauds –

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles.
