Team Trump keeps trying to justify their actions. In some cases, like the AP ban from AF1, if they had just said “we’re rotating the invitations” instead of “they refuse to print govt directed words”, they would not have a judge telling them they need to reconsider content-based decisions. Yes, he denied the TRO, but wrote that Trump is unlikely to prevail.
For the govt probie terminations, instead of just pulling the trigger, they’re playing games with it. Some people are getting fired, others aren’t, some are exempt, others aren’t. Emails are going out to employees “you’re fired” then being withdrawn as an error. Queries have gone out asking who the veterans are, or military spouses, for example.
Then they made exemptions for “mission critical” which is apparently a notch above “mission essential”. But the latter is where everyone ended up during the lockdowns and shutdowns. Guess who is rapidly being designated “mission critical”. And nobody gets a truly bad performance review in govt. so you can’t really use that.
We can do this without being cruel. Not all govt employees are devils, just as not all private sector employees are saints.
Stop trying to justify and explain each and every one. Simply state that the probies not engaged in life or death related fields (health, flight safety, deportations) are terminated effective immediately. Then stand back and watch carefully to see what “mission critical” really means.
They’re making too many exceptions. And they’re talking too much while doing so. The previous administration stuffed the ranks in an attempt to create a massive influx of Democrat voters and donors. Clean house.
I generally agree with the essential sentiment: “Slow the Hell Down!” Don’t be a bull in a china shop. Yes, “you have some kind of a ‘mandate,'” but don’t forget what it means to be “on the other side of your hammer!”
For example – to send out a mass e-mail to every government employee, demanding that they tell you “what they did last week” as an obvious condition to their continued employment – is idiocy. You are attacking the “problem” from the bottom, rather than the top.
“Mister Real-Estate Developer,” if you decided that one or two of your properties were unprofitable and needed to be closed (rather than sold), you yourself would never have approached the matter in this “ham-fisted” way …
My daughter got an email. To me it looked totally like spam and if I had received it I would have treated it as such. Coming from our government it is not surprising. If it had EM fingerprints on it I would suggest he clean up his act and get his people to incorporate some thought and professionalism into their endeavors. It smacked of the kind of incomplete and unprofessional work of some punk who has not spent anytime at all in a basic high school english class..

He should have run it by Kash first.
Elon seems to think it is justified because of what his purpose was. He does not get it, he disrespected Kash and Kash put him in his place.
I don’t think Elon has been told no very much in his life, and I also think he doesn’t quite grasp some normal human interactions.
People get hung up on what the assignment was, rather than the fact that he had no business telling another man’s workers what to do.
Elon has and had every business, and Constitutional authority, to do exactly what he has done.

It has taken less than a month for the bitchers and whiners to start their routine. Everyone who has electricity knows about these emails and if your department head didn’t tell you to wait and you didn’t respond tough shit. If you couldn’t think of five things in a week what the hell does anyone need you for? Mostly it is to find out if anyone is at that email address. Pretty sure there will be fake employees and the money being skimmed off, hence the outrage. If you go on tv and protest, you have put the spotlight on yourself you will probably be one of the first out the door.

Donald Trump has about 18 months. That’s it – then they will hem and haw until the deepstate decides the midterm outcome.
Add to that, if they don’t go at full speed the opposition will be able to catch up faster and stop them.
Given that bureaucrats have made regs that put auto workers, coal miners, oil workers, etc. out of work and said learn to code etc., I don’t really care if they lose their jobs.
Many of longer term employees are covered by unions and have some protections based on the contracts. I don’t see mass firings, yet.
Why is it idiocy? It’s an effort to work around all of the roadblocks to outright firing that have been emplaced since Carter’s sorry hide allowed for govt unions.

Why not take a more honest approach? Email everyone to check a box that verifies terms of employment, sign and return. That would be more effective in discovering who’s actually present in the workforce which is what Musk claims he’s only trying to determine. Good, because everyone knows there’s no way to nail down productivity by asking employees to email what they’ve done in the past week. So, the current approach is merely a ruse.
You want to get rid of people? Fine. But be honest about it. All employees, good or bad, are entitled to that.
To help identify ghost employees, they could have easily sent out an email to all people receiving paychecks and said they need to go to their direct supervisor, in person (or on zoom), and have that supervisor give them a preset unique code that they enter into the email and return.
It would also later implicate any supervisors if they provided a code to someone who was not working for them.

Agreed. I think that there are better ways to get this accomplished. By sticking with the tradition (?) and hosting the White House press briefings in the same room on the same schedule and working with the same people and the same press organizations, the Trump administration is inviting a TRO and legal troubles.
How about this approach: The AP and all the crusty old legacy left-wing media can show up every day in this room as they have always done. The White House can then send an intern or a janitor to turn on the lights. They can stare at an empty podium all they want.
Meanwhile, independent reporters and REAL journalists are invited to have one-on-ones throughout the day.

I worked in gov in DC. The only way to fix it is to break things. Tear it down to the studs. Its hard to fathom the rot and sloth unless you have lived it.

President Trump “slowing down” plays right into the hands of the enemy opposing him. TIME is the finite asset being fought over in this battle. Every delay gives Time back to the enemy and takes TIME away from President Trump.

There’s nothing wrong with breaking things and creating chaos. It’s a legitimate and highly successful management strategy, and is especially needed in dealing with bloated and inefficient organizations.
But even creating chaos requires planning. Critical is an implementation plan. We have to assume they had one. But where was the communication plan? It’s obvious from the fallout that the internal communication on this was sorely lacking. I hope they learned from this because the last thing we need for them to do is to slow down.

If we are honest, the federal government should be cut by 75% plus. It’s not even an issue whether they are a good worker or not. It’s about whether what they do should be done at all.
Then we should be discussing their inflated salaries and pensions. The vast majority of taxpayers make less money and have no pension. All hires going forward should not have a pension. Taxpayers shouldn’t work to 70 so that a government worker can retire in their 50s on a large penion.
I’ve worked in Gov. in a very responsible and demanding job and paid just above field workers in the profession (I was overseeing) and worked really hard and effectively. I worked for over 35 years for the Gov. I was forced out and had to retire as they made it impossible to continue. Ie retired or do stupid crazy and inefficient things that the taxpayer whom would not pay for. Illegal and immoral and dangerous to the field I was overseeing…wanted no part of this or the ability to testify in front of congress for doing the wrong work as directed to do. No! Enter retirement. Enter the biden regime economy, 10% inflation per year in real numbers, not cooked numbers. X 4. This equals 40% reduction in real buying power of my earned retirement. That’s just 4 years. This is after in most years the paltry cost-of-living increase. And now Feds making what and more than you do in retirement for mid or lower level jobs and tasks.
Again, I never said don’t cut it. I said do it evenly and do it fairly with minimal exemptions and few if any ways to escape it. Giving people a month to find a new job so they don’t lose their house is not going to break the bank. It will however earn people’s respect.
When you dip into the territory where the cuts are arbitrary, you open yourself up to lawsuits (and losing those lawsuits), and you come off not as a righteous defender of the public trust. You come off as a vengeful mercenary.

That’s not a flow chart. And it just proves my INITIAL point at the start of this comment thread. Team Trump is making it too easy for people to hide in this table of options and appeals. They are trying to carve out exemptions for things that don’t make sense – military retired, spouses of military, this or that “critical” function, etc.
The simple effective thing to do 3 WEEKS ago was one standard Executive Order across ALL agencies: “All probationary employees are terminated effective 4/1/25. Re-hires will be considered on a case by case basis depending on mission importance and budget impact.”
But did we get that? Nooooooo. We got on the stupid train with Elon and his weird “tell me what you did last week” email. There are about a million ways to accomplish the same effect – who actually works here and do they respond to direction? – that which wouldn’t create cynicism.

By that judge not recusing himself due to that very real conflict of interest should be immediate grounds for removal from the bench, that is, if we are going to hold the judiciary up to the one requirement – ‘acting in good behavior’. Will be interesting to see what Congress does, it’s in the hands of the House to initiate impeachment procedures.

There is no need for any House oversight committee – Bondi has faced her first true test, and has failed miserably – just release the files.

Actually, the release of this info, or failure to release, as a TEST of Bondi, may be even more valuable than the release if the material, itself.
She SAID she had the material, but at present (giving her the benefit of the doubt) things to review are, is it accurate and complete (or are her subordinates withholding some of it from her, or inserting inaccurate info, so that once released it can be discredited? I have been asserting the firings thus far are the low hanging fruit. They for the most part a recent hires, easy to fire. The entrenched deep state is still intact, again, for the most part.
I do not think it is going to get easier any time soon.
Particularly without any arrests for crimes these folks have clearly committed.

I have been reading posts here about releasing the Epstein files. But there may be a few legal problems with that.
If someone’s name (X) is on the list, it is an implication of guilt for which the government probably does not have a case or witnesses or anything other than a name on a list. If published, there would be suits brought against this administration that will tie it up with case after case for defamation.
I don’t know if that would be beneficial when what I want this administration to concentrate on is the dismantling of the deep state – all the intelligence tentacles worldwide.
Epstein was an intelligence operation.

As for me, I don’t believe one single thing about the content of those “files.”
Fundamentally, Epstein was a blackmailer. He maneuvered powerful people into “compromising positions” – or at least, said he did(!) – and then extorted them for money.
Therefore, do I at-face-value accept his “tantalizing, scatological” ‘files?’ Frankly, no.
Therefore, do I think that they should now be “released?” Frankly, no!

Went to the grocery store yesterday. Eggs were over $10 for a dozen. Went to the organic section and they were $5.85. I usually get them from my neighbor for 6. There was a sign on the door where the non organic eggs were that said there was a supply issue because of bird flu. Malone said at CPAC this was BS.
I notice eggs are more expensive at supermarkets like Kroger’s/Safeway, etc…I’ve been spending 3.99/dozen at Whole Foods, I think Trader Joe’s has similar pricing. Of course, there’s a range with more expensive options.

All the big name stores like Kroger, Aldi, etc.. are all over $3 a dozen, but the small locally owned chain of grocery stores in my neck of the woods are still selling them for $2.79/dozen, no limit.

Why did Minnesota add 50,634 drivers in 2023 when they typically only issue about 2900 per year?? Then they quickly added another 43,881 the following year.
Did Fedex and UPS move their Headquarters to MN?
Did they build an entire campus for truck schools?

The answer is yes. 2016 I was at Heavy Metal Truck Driving School in New Port Minnesota. The majority of people there were migrants and couldn’t speak English. There was a discussion about whether people should be getting a CDL if they couldn’t read English. Instructors vowed to not pass those students. Shortly after they went out of business.

Well, that could explain the train crash last Dec 18 in Pecos, Texas that killed two train engineers. The video is awesome in a terrible sort of way. It was a whole string of errors.
The trucking company did not find a good route for the lowboy trailer.
The truck driver apparently did not have the experience to know he couldn’t make it across the tracks.
NO ONE called the railroad for 45 MINUTES to tell them there was a blockage on the tracks.
The train could have been stopped 4 times over (it takes 10 minutes and a mile to stop a freight train). The train was going 68. I sincerely hope the truck driver’s CDL was yanked immediately and the trucking company was fined into oblivion.

What’s Hochul doing? Unionizing the whole program. She’s consolidating it all into one company. So now your relative caring for grandma is part of a union. The union is in your home.
How did she choose the one company? She only looked at 4 bids and apparently it was known in Albany she would choose that one because the CEO donated to Democrats.
This new version of the program has been tried in multiple other states and not only FAILED but ended up costing the taxpayers MORE.
Currently there are 600 companies administering the service to 280k patients. 600 NY based companies who will be out of busines if this goes through.
