I’d made sure the bed was toasty warm, however, and of course Little ‘Tink did her part by spending the night curled up on my shoulder. I didn’t get up until almost 10am this morning so my ever so loyal kitty stayed with me. Then she followed me into the kitched for my “almost” morning Bustelo. Your grandaughter’s gift is intriguing. My young neighbor is a partner in a craft-coffee company. I’ll have to tell him about “Kitty Town” coffee.

Biography: Georgios Papanicolaou was a Greek cytologist and early cancer researcher who made an indelible contribution to medicine with the development of the Pap smear test. This simple yet revolutionary screening method for detecting precancerous and cancerous cells in the cervix has played a pivotal role in reducing the mortality rate of cervical cancer.
Papanicolaou initially studied music and the humanities before turning to medicine, earning his medical degree from the University of Athens. The invitations of Wisdom. (1-12) The invitations of folly. (13-18)1-12 Christ has prepared ordinances to which his people are admitted, and by which nourishment is given here to those that believe in him, as well as mansions in heaven hereafter. The ministers of the gospel go forth to invite the guests. The call is general, and shuts out none that do not shut out themselves. Our Saviour came, not to call the righteous, but sinners; not the wise in their own eyes, who say they see. We must keep from the company and foolish pleasures of the ungodly, or we never can enjoy the pleasures of a holy life. It is vain to seek the company of wicked men in the hope of doing them good; we are far more likely to be corrupted by them. It is not enough to forsake the foolish, we must join those that walk in wisdom. There is no true wisdom but in the way of religion, no true life but in the end of that way. PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

I believe the above names for Satan are capitalized because they are proper nouns, names of one individual being, even though he is a spiritual being.

I understand. I do understand that the ancient texts – Aramaic, Hebrew and Greek – in which the Word of God was originally recorded did not have upper or lower “case”.
I capitalize Satan’s name only out of consistency in grammar rules, and that the Bibles I use, also capitalize his name. Sometimes I have caught myself using lower case – but I blame modern texting habits on my laxity. 😎

We’ve got a ton of birds out there now on our two sets of feeders. I dump mixed critter feed on the ground and they really go after it. Blue Jays sure love peanuts. Rocky and Spanky the fox squirrels hits the peanuts too, but likethe sunflower seeds and the corn cob I’ve got on a screw.
Starlings and sparrows abound, plenty of cardinals, cow birds, house finches, morning doves,. A tufted titmouse or two.
Red breasted wood peckers, Hairy woodpeckers, and downy woodpeckers.
Occasionally a few crows stop by.

I wondered if you are are familiar with phainopeplas, or if they are prevalent where you live. Pretty little birds – I always called them black cardinals, as that is what they resemble.
I hadn’t seen them for a few months, and suddenly they reappeared. They are insect eaters (love that about them!), but when bugs aren’t available, they eat mistletoe- which we have much of unfortunately. Mistletoe is really hard to eradicate from its favorite tree – mesquite. So, I guess the bright side is – I get to have the phainopeplas!

Unusual coincidence: my daughter’s stepdaughter just had a baby girl 5 weeks ago whose name is Amara. Unfortunately the little tyke is suddenly fighting for her life and the incompetent doctors have not yet been able to determine why the infant’s blood cells are oddly shaped or why her liver and kidneys are not operating normally… We are praying for her, her family, and for the doctors’ to acquire more wisdom….

Refugee Resettlers Hit by Layoffs After Crackdown Down on Migrant Business
… until recently the migrant business of foisting illegal aliens falsely claiming to be ‘refugees’ on Americans used to be very big business.
Sadly for illegal alien invaders and their profiteers, it’s going downhill.
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops sued Trump claiming that $65 million had been allocated for 6,700 invaders and that with the funding cutoff, it’s on the hook for millions of dollars.
Reportedly it has laid off a third of its staff.
Catholic Charities in Houston, an epicenter of the invasion, announced it was laying off 120 workers.
In Dallas, Catholic Charities jettisoned 59 employees. A news story cited the help given to an Afghan ‘refugees’.
Episcopal Migration Ministries laid off 22 employees, Jesuit Refugee Services has laid off 400, and HIAS (formerly Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society) cut 22 staff members.
Church World Service Lancaster furloughed much of its staff. IRIS (Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services) in Connecticut laid off 20% of its staff and the Catherine McAuley Center in Cedar Rapids dumped around half of its workforce.
Those are just sample stories from around the country but they’re crucial because forcing refugee resettlers to lay off staff makes it harder for them to reopen again and helps cripple the invasion pipeline.

It’s a laxative ad?? 🙂 Seriously though if you think about it, place a 2 foot wide plank or board on the ground and most of us would easily walk, or in the case of a professional rider, ride without feeling we are going to fall off (to where??). Now place that same plank 100 ft up and most of us would barely be able to make one step. The part of our brain that says Ah ah buddy, we humans are not supposed to hang out up here is now in charge. What is bewildering though, is that it’s the same part that’s likely to kill us. Pure logic should say, sure you can walk on a 2 foot wide “ledge” – you do it easily on the ground. They did a study (CT scan or something) on a guy who climbs sheer walls – no ropes, no safety, free climbing. Anyway they found in his “fear” center (apparently where this vertigo thing lives) he has an abnormally low brain response to what is “average”. Maybe sometimes it’s better to have a few marbles loose in the brain.
It’s kind of like free climbing. Do it enough and the end result is inevitable. People trip on cracks in the sidewalk, raised thresholds, and stairs. and slip in the bathtub all the time. For the vast majority of those that persist in such behavior, sooner or later it’s going to happen because we’re all human! The Alps are full of plaques and little memorials marking the place some free climbers met their ultimate fate.

After sundance’s celebratory article about the USA’s alleged great victory and beating of the “Snow Mexican” Canadians, I thought he would remind his devoted flock about the final game between the USA and Canada tomorrow. Maybe he will tomorrow. My take on the game.

A Hard Fought Cold War Victory
I’ve been posting info about the final 4 Nations hockey game between the USA and Canada @ the Boston TD Garden tomorrow @ 8:00 PM EST. Players on both teams have worked very hard to be selected to play at this top level and represent their country, so IMO, they deserve to be recognized by many of their fellow citizens including a POTUS, a PM and aspiring leaders engaged in a national election.
I know most Canadians will be watching. International hockey became a huge draw when Canada’s NHL’ers played the Soviet Red Army team during the Cold war in the 1972 Summit Series. Canada’s out of shape older players underestimated the Soviet team and went to the U.S.S.R. down 2 games. All of the Soviet players were officers in the Red Army and were at their fittest due to the hard regimen they had to follow to stay in top shape. The Canadians were playing during their off season and were definitely not in top shape or prepared for what was coming.
The Soviets dominated the NHL’ers in most of the games in Canada. They won 2 games in blowouts and Canada won one in a close game. (There was one tie due to no O/T) Team Canada was booed by their own embarrassed and stunned Canadian fans during the Vancouver game. So Canada’s heading to the USSR for the 1st time down by 2 games with 4 more to play. The Soviets won the 1st game in Moscow so Canada had to win the next 3 games in front of whistling Russian fans and some cheering Canadians
The final game in the U.S.S.R. was tied, as was the series 3 games each, until Canada’s Paul Henderson scored with 34 seconds left in Game 8. Canada won 4 games to 3 but the Pravda newspapers declared they won because they scored more goals in the 8 game tournament. (Thursday-Sportsnet in Canada and ET; ESPN, ESPN+,TVAS in the USA.)
I hope the Canadian spirit of those 1972 players will show up tomorrow in the final game like it has in many hockey series since then. It usually does but the USA has high spirits and drive as well. Enjoy the game.
80 years ago today U.S. Marines stormed ashore on the Japanese island of Iwo Jima. The ensuing battle would last more some 36 days. . U.S. casualties included roughly 7,000 dead and another 24,ooo wounded. Very few of the Japanese defenders survived. That was a fight.
Of course. Not sure if you’re comparing war to a hockey series or not because there is no comparison of course.
There were many other brutal battlefields of course you failed to mention where American soldiers were killed: Here are only a few:
The Alsace region or Colmar Pocket (7,000 died); Guadalcanal,(7,100 dead) the Huertgen Forest(19,200 killed); Luzon (10k dead Americans); Okinawa (12,500 killed) Ardennes (15,000 dead) Normandy (16,290 killed) and so on.
Even those terrible numbers don’t come close to the slaughter in the American Civil War. There were more Americans killed in Civil war battles than all the recorded dead in WWI; WWII, Korea and Vietnam.
I think 2%’s point was that today is the anniversary.
That makes sense and it is an anniversary that should never be forgotten. These American men and many other men (and women) died to free the western world and forgetting their sacrifice or booing the anthem or burning the flag of any of these nations is misguided.
Some have the opinion that it wasn’t worth it. IMO it absolutely was! Iwo lays right about the middle of the long flight route (about 1,570 miles from Guam to Tokyo) the B-29s flying out of the Marianas had to take to get to targets in Japan and back. Almost all that route is over open water.
And to add to the problem, there is almost always a constant weather front along that route about 1/2 way between Iwo and Japan because of how the jet streams converge.
B-29s landed at Iwo more than 2,900 times. Most in some sort of distress that would have made making it back to Guam unlikely or impossible. Each aircraft had a crew of 11.
Besides providing a landing area for B-29s in trouble the island served as a base for P-51 fighters which could escort B-29s on some missions and which also made fighter sweeps against the southern portion of the home islands.
Finally, had that stinking volcanic island not been taken, it would have required constant bombing missions to prevent the Japanese from basing fighters there that could attack the B-29’s on their bombing missions.
As terrible as the cost of invasion was, it paid off in spades in lives and aircraft saved and the moral of the crews taking part in those long bombing missions.
