The EPA is just ugly and corrupt. Threw an 80 year old man into solitary confinement in CO several years ago for building a retention pond for wildland firefighters on HIS property. His time, his property, his bulldozer, his fuel were used. I think he died in prison because lawyers tried to get him out but Judges in Colorado are so corrupt it was impossible.

There are many seasonal workers harvesting the crops that need to be picked by hand that are here legally. It’s seasonal work. They are like monarch butterflies. They return annually.
Grew up in an area that’s home to large orchards. Many of the apple orchards have been owned and operated by the same family going back multiple generations. Each year the apples are picked with seasonal employees who have been coming to the same orchard, also going back multiple generations. They come to work for the few months of harvest season and then return to their island homes with a bankroll sufficient to support themselves for most of the coming year.

When Joseph Goebbels heard about this he said oh my God this is a gift. We’re losing the war, but we’ll tell all of the German people they want us to be permanently pastoral. We’ll starve to death and even if they [the German people] don’t like the Nazis as we’ve destroyed the country or losing War they’ll fight. Thankfully George Marshall Chief of Staff of the army, ex-president Herbert Hoover and others went to the Roosevelt administration said if you institute this plan they’re going to fight to the death and we have bombed Germany so when we get into Germany you’ll see that it’s almost depopulated now. The net result was they canceled the Morganthau plan that would have permanently made Germany depopulated, disarmed, de-industrialized. What’s my point in bringing up this historical example? I’m happy with the VA but I only get free prescriptions and check ups. I am probably entitled to more but I’ve been lazy and haven’t checked. I volunteered for the draft and served 2 years. I go to the Erie, PA VA hospital and everyone there has been helpful and kind but if I was having surgeries and medical treatments I might be singing a different tune?

The Constitution itself doesn’t say they can only be removed by impeachment, it’s just been treated that way. From my understanding, the Supreme Court was not intended by the founders to be co-equal with Congress or the Executive. It was to have final say over state court decisions but not those of Congress or the Executive. It just took that power to itself in Marbury v. Madison. Theoretically, the Executive could decide that a judge has not been on good behavior and remove him. Everyone would go nuts if that happened, though.

I watched some of her confirmation hearing and thought she was unquestionably a lot weaker than the majority of the candidates. They tried very hard to trap her into making unwise commitments, she had to back up several times, I would research that and get back to you, blah blah blah.
What I have seen, she handled herself pretty well.
She has already been there before. She knows what needs to be done to reduce the dept. to a smaller leaner functioning dept. and eventually it will be eliminated with only the very necessary applications from the federal govt. to education, like education funds for special education, overseen in another dept as it was before.

That is great news. I thought he would try to sabotage it to help DeSantis.
Right now Chip does not want to bite the hand that butters the bread. He’s hoping when re-election time comes that Texans will forget.
And if he has even a lick of sense, he’s figured out that anti-Trump republicans don’t have a future in the party. People like Rubio aren’t true believers and aren’t particularly ideological at all-they join the group they think will benefit them the most. Rubio realized that MAGA is where the future of the party is. Not that long ago he was pushing an amnesty bill; now he’s supporting mass deportations and gutting NGOs. Chip Roy will either figure out what Rubio did and get on board or have his political career ended.
But does this Bill include a whopping 40% raise for members of Congress? I’m sure they’ve snuck some goodies in for themselves.
I haven’t been following this. Is this an actual real budget being discussed? Not just a CR?

Back in 1984 it was changed from the golden parachute that the Civil Service Retirement System was, that provided up to an 80% of high 3 salary for life — to a new system where the Federal employee is now covered by SS; has a 401K like plan [Thrift Savings Plan]; and a small defined pension — where they get 1% of their high 3 multiplied by years of service — meaning if you had 40 years service, it would be 40% of your high 3.
Still a very good retirement plan. But nowhere near as generous as it was for FEDs hired before 1984

Not perhaps as good as CRS, but good… especially if you take advantage of the TSP – Government matches your contribution, dollar-for-dollar, for the first 3% of your paycheck you put into it… then a 50% match for 4% and 5%.

A smart, thrifty young person who starts at say, age 25, can have saved about $500,000-$600,000 by age 55… and with interest and the matching contributions, could be near $1,000,000.
And that’s just TSP – not counting SS and your pension.

I discussed with student leaders past and present, many of them active with the National Student Association [The National Student Association (NSA) had connections with leftist movements – W] this kind of small Foundation to encourage Americans to go they thought it was a good idea too…I was then told by foundations and professors and friends that it that I should not do this that I would get in trouble with the house on American Activities Committee, the American Legion, all of those 50s people [the ones who knew commies when they saw them – W] and I became convinced that it was impossible. It was at that point that the student leaders said to me that they had in the past received funds for international programs from the CIA and that they felt that this was important and could also be partly funded by the CIA. I had particular points of view to put forward which would have been much much more restricting than than the CIA funds were which were free. The reason I think that comes as a surprise is it did to me at the time I mean I had the conventional liberals view of the CIA as a right-wing incendiary group and I was amazed to discover that this was far from the case that they were enlightened liberal nonpartisan activists.
