The Army changed the name of nine bases in 2022 and 2023 following recommendations by an official naming commission. All nine bases were originally named for generals or leaders of the Confederacy. Among the more controversial of the changes were decisions to change Fort Bragg to Fort Liberty and Fort Benning to Fort Moore.
I work at one of those nine bases.
I have not heard from ONE person who thought it was a good idea.

DOGE has found Social Security checks going to people 150 years old, multiple checks going to people with the same social security number, and hundreds to people with the same address.
This raises questions
Who is cashing these checks or are they automatically deposited to bank accounts?
Is this a way to pay Antifa and BLM soldiers?
Will the authorities find and prosecute the recipients of these fraudulent checks?
And it takes a month for a ‘decision’ on a claim? For an average citizen?
I’m betting nursing homes, either management or staff, are good for a few.
But yet, if you die on the 30th (or 31st) of the month and the check has been deposited SSA will get the money returned. You must be alive for every minute of the month to collect that months check.
Yes, and it can take months to stop the payments. Often the spouse has no idea that the money should have stopped so they pay rent and funeral costs before getting notification they have to pay thousands back.
What was really interesting was that there was no check on the Do Not Pay list!!
That means that the employees responsible for paying could do everything correctly to stop payments for a deceased person, but if a bad actor managed to throw that paperwork away or otherwise keep the payments going, the payments could go on forever!!

My husband died on the 1st of the month, and SS still tried to claw back the previous month’s payment. They claim this is standard policy, and the survivor has to jump through hoops to get the money returned.

Perhaps these universities could get rid of a 120 billion dollars worth of useless and expensive administrators.

I believe most/all of these administrators are leftist and drive leftist policies and propaganda. It’s not just in the universities though. I recently saw a graph of public school hiring of teachers compared to administrators and administrator hiring is far outpacing teachers.

Covid vaccine requirements, gender medical procedures, and others. Dr.s that work in these hospitals are required to conform to hospital policies or lose their jobs.
I remember asking my Dr. on a routine visit about hydroxychloroquine during the early days of Covid. He said they will not prescribe it in their hospital. I always thought treatment was between Dr. and patient, but I guess not when administration is involved.

Since WW2, the rest of the world has tariffed US goods at obscene levels. Not once do I remember any “Noble Prize” economists commenting on how that was bad for the rest of the world. My guess is, realizing the fight Trump-47 would have in Congress to formally end that agreement, doing reciprocal tariffs and matching the VAT (value added tax) that European nations add to goods purchased there is his way of ending it without ending it until he can get the critters in Congress to have real-life comparison of the difference between the Marshall Plan and ending it by using matching tariffs and VAT’s.
I suspect more money in Congress’ coffers will be the closing argument when he comes to them to formally end that agreement.

A simplistic view on a complex issue.
I was a buyer for one of the largest retailers in the US during the last Trump administration.
Tariffs were announced on many products. Example – Washing Machines from Korea. Result? LG and Samsung announced moving production to the USA (Tenessee and South Carolina) before President Trump was even innagurated.
Tariffs from China were dramatically increased on Tools. What happened? In most cases the cost of goods were lowered to offset the tariff, or most of the tariff. In other cases the product moved production to the US or a country that was not impacted by the tariff. And finally, there were a few products that raised prices, which in most cases resulted in canceled contracts, and purchases from a different supplier.
@Sundance has posted the inflation data multiple times that proved that overall, the tariffs did not significantly raise consumer prices.
I know these examples from my tenure in purchasing these prodcuts. These are facts.
So… respectfully, please expand your analysis to include the historical results that disprove the simple view propagated by the left wing media, and repeated by you.

The House Committee on Oversight and Reform will spend today investigating how to address the crisis of improper payments made by the federal government each year. The hearing is called The War on Waste: Stamping Out the Scourge of Improper Payments.
It comes as DOGE works to create lasting efficiencies for taxpayers, and following record improper payments under the Biden administration.
During fiscal year 2024, federal agencies reported $161.5 billion in improper payments – money sent to the wrong entity, for the wrong amount or wrong reason – according to data released by the Office of Management and Budget in November.
That means President Biden left office having presided over $925.7 billion in waste, fraud, abuse and duplicative payments – and that’s just what agencies were able to report.
Adjusted for inflation, the figure grows to $986.2 billion – almost a trillion dollars lost through improper payments!
That’s the worst for any president since reporting began in 2004, even when adjusting for inflation.
NOTE: Perhaps unsurprisingly, the single-year record came during the fog of Covid, as enormous amounts of cash were shoveled out quickly by Congress. Fiscal year 2021 say $281.4 billion in improper payments, which we now know includes Covid-related aid that was subject to massive fraud.

USAID was able to claim plausible deniability because it was putting money into pooled UN accounts, which a report by the SIGAR Afghanistan War government watchdog revealed, “prevents tying humanitarian assistance expenses—including for the purchase and transport of cash into Afghanistan—to a specific donor’s contribution.
Putting the money into UN pooled accounts allowed USAID to claim that they “do not provide assistance to or through the Taliban”, they just put money into “pooled UN accounts” which they do not control, and “as a result, State and USAID do not know how much of their total contributions to the UN have been used to purchase cash for use in Afghanistan”.

The Department of Homeland Security recovered $59 million of taxpayer funds the Federal Emergency Management Administration sent to hotels in New York City to shelter illegal immigrants.
DHS clawed back the payment Wednesday after firing four FEMA staffers Tuesday for making the payment in subversion of agency leadership and the Trump administration’s broader agenda, as National Review previously reported.
“Secretary Noem has clawed back the full payment that FEMA deep state activists unilaterally gave to NYC migrant hotels,” DHS assistant secretary Tricia McLaughin posted on X Wednesday.
“FEMA was funding the Roosevelt Hotel that serves as a Tren de Aragua base of operations & was used to house Laken Riley’s killer. There will not be a single penny spent that goes against the interest and safety of the American people.”
McLaughin was referring to violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, which has built up a presence in multiple American cities due to the Biden administration’s soft approach towards immigration enforcement, and the Venezuelan illegal immigrant who murdered Georgia nursing student Laken Riley last February.
Jose Antonio Ibarra was convicted of murdering Riley in November and sentenced to life in prison for carrying out the bloodthirsty act. President Trump signed last month bipartisan legislation named after Riley that empowers federal law enforcement to detain illegal immigrants arrested for theft and related crimes until they are deported.

They published false stories, were rewarded for their efforts, quietly walked those stories back, and the board refused to admit their mistakes.

I just listened all the way through to the remarks from President Trump at the Tulsi Gabbard press conference, in the video Sundance posted yesterday (the part about Ukraine).
One thing that struck me today was that, although I haven’t listened to all his interactions with the press, it seems as if there has been a change in tone from the questioners. Not as much trying to put him on the defensive or play gotcha. I could be wrong.
Another thing, they ask such stupid questions, and interrupt as he carefully lays out everything as completely as he can, when if they hd just waited they could have asked him an intelligent question. That was a very, very well-thought out statement from the president.
How stupid can you be, to ask him what’s his plan?
The worthwhile question came at the end, and it was something I wanted to know too, was the Fogel release part of the deal?
That Fogel release is like the USAID revelations, we knew it was going on, but hearing about it in detail, how unbelievable was it that the Biden administration wouldn’t lift a finger to help that man?
