I have FOND memories of fishing off the coast of Corpus. You would laugh so much… in all my “wisdom” I forgot to get us the coveted fishing licenses and our boat captain for the day was retired coast guard so we could have been in TROUBLE. We caught the most amazing fish and fed a whole neighborhood. Of course, we promptly bought our licenses the moment we hit the shore.
I miss the salty air and the laps of the waves. Hope your short trip was wonderful for you and your bride.

I’m like the movie “Hope Floats”, Garrison. Leaving on a parade float and coming back in a beat up old Pinto with a daughter, but mine is not a little girl anymore.
Afraid I wouldn’t “know” Texas anymore… and that, my friend, would just hurt too much. I did an enormous amount of living in Texas – learned who I was out there – “grew up” out there from 20 to 28 years old – found God at a little church there – flourished out there.
Loved every ounce of my Texas experience with the exception of the fire ants and the scorpions. Was super foolish to leave, but I chased my idea of “family” all over this stupid country.
I am afraid I wouldn’t recognize her… nor her me… and that makes me really sad. It’s been 22 years… and I truly left my heart there amongst Texas’s warm nights and vast starry skies.
I parked my boots, outgrew my Rocky Mountain stacked jeans, hid my George Strait CD’s, and never thought back to my rodeo days. My final year there I was invited to join the Stock Show social committee – what a tremendous honor. Was a member of the San Antonio Association of Building Engineers and on the Board of the San Antonio Building Owners & Managers Association along with my CAT days. My “work” never felt like work. It was all pure joy, but I was young and naive… and I had to try to find “family”… I didn’t know then, that family could be what you make it and not the traditional kind. I was a fool and I lost big leaving San Antonio.
As Bet says… sometimes you just can’t go home.
Now I will take my boot scootin’ boogeying self and apply a Cowboy Cha Cha and listen to one of my favorites from my Texan days.
It was a somber occasion. We attended the funeral of our son in law’s dad. Actually, it was a celebration of his life and the pastor did a great job preaching the gospel. Afterwards the ceremony at the Veteran’s Memorial cemetery was very touching. Our daughter and SIL with Miss V stayed in the same hotel we did. Wednesday night we had a good time together. Had a dinner at Doc’s and afterwards sat by the hotel pool while SIL had his cigars and my daughter and I took care of some wine. Thursday morning Miss V brought Elizabeth breakfast in bed. What a girl. 🙂
I’m so sorry to hear of your SIL’s loss of his Dad. It is the hardest thing we do – to love and lose – but only lose temporarily. We have eternity later in our Lord’s Presence together, but it sure takes a long time sometimes… getting there. One thing about funerals… it’s a great place for a reunion.
My ex-husband (or wasband) is from Marshall, Texas. HUGE, DEEP Texas FAMILY. Parents got divorced when he was really young, so holidays were always being pulled between the two Nanny’s (grandmothers) houses with one having a luncheon and the other dinner – where they always seemed to try to outdo one another. We must have ingested about 20,000 calories those days. Their reunions were held in a graveyard of an old church out the middle of nowhere, where they would dress the graves and have one of those Southern Baptist style potluck lunches where everyone wears their Sunday finest and plays all day.
One thing Southerners sure seem to have down… and that’s the ideal of family. Glad you all could come together to honor his Dad and his service to our country.

Well, you should laugh yourself silly that I’m young enough to be your daughter and I make these kinds of cognitive errors… all the stinking time! I attribute it to being too smart and having too small a brain to keep everything inside and thus knowledge and common sense just spills out everywhere. (To try to sustain some semblance of an ego.)
The bills are paid. Kid is healthy and fed. But don’t ask me what I fed her two days ago… I don’t remember and would have to ask her. Some things I remember… some things I try to forget… and some things just spill out and don’t matter.
Who cares if it is Sunday, Tuesday, Friday… it all blends together… and in the end… EVERY DAY is The Lord’s Day.

A few weeks ago I learned that my local A*way store had the “horse de-wormer.” In the Green Apple flavor no less.
I took Diamateous earth to deworm myself years ago (and I really did see worms in my poop) , but recently learned DE does not kill the pips (or the baby parasite worms)., that burrow into the gut to hide from antibiotics..
The online adds for Ivermectin do not seem trustworthy to me. I am happy that I have a vendor who actually sells a horse de-wormer nearby.

I m taking ivermectin for metastatic breast cancer but was unsure of the dosage. After watching the video now I know. It would be 5 pills a day at $4.00 a pill Luckily here in Tennessee we can get ivermectin over the counter at a compounding pharmacy. Easy peasy.
it is dispensed according to your weight. So at 126 lbs I get 12mg tablets. Now, my husband weighs 250lbs so we are going to have him get the tablets for his weight. Hopefully we can save some money.

My prostate cancer was successfully treated by surgery 3.5 years ago.
I would have preferred a focal (localized) treatment by MRI guided laser ablation of the lesions, but various factors eliminated that possibility.
I tried some natural and holistic things (with my doctor’s approval) during the years I was being monitored by active surveillance. They did not work for me.
I did not know about Ivermectin or Fenbendazole at that time, otherwise I would have tried them.

When you LOVE something or someone… you want to share them with everyone. I’m not sure about the “sleepless nights” part. The independent study itself would be really good for that quiet time in between daylight hours for sure, but you do come together once a week during the school season to go over your findings and share each others ideas and answers to the study questions. Such GOOD STUFF and these ladies and gentlemen really do “living” together no matter where each other are in the world.
The cool thing about Bible Study Fellowship is it is the same study throughout the world. So, if you are like GrandpaM and travel to Europe… you can drop into a study in Europe… and everyone there will be studying the same thing you are in America, so you never skip a beat.
In my online international women’s group… we have ladies from IN, MI, AZ, SC, NY, Canada, Phillipines, India, and China. They are deep women and it is even more thoughtful when they share that they are persecuted in their home countries just for being Christian and thus must sometimes worship underground.
It’s a really good group and it’s very little time that passes when one… a man or a woman… can become like “family” to one another.
I highly, highly recommend it.

Earlier I posted that my oldest Granddaughters husband, who works for the VA finding jobs for veterans, was told that he must resign or be fired by Thursday next week.

Now his bosses, which all think he’s been doing a great job, have told him his position is secure at least until Sept. this year. My personal thoughts and evaluations of several important issues:
Based on my reading, some pretty reliable sources are saying that the US taking back over the operation of the Panama Canal is going to happen much more quickly than most expect.
As for Greenland? I have no inkling yet about how that is going to turn out. I’m not even totally convinced that Trump is even that serious about it. It is possible that, being the bargainer he is, that it is a ploy to gain some concessions from the Europeans that he deems vital to our national security. But if I had to bet, it would be that he is serious about the US taking over Greenland one way or another, short of direct military action.
Did you know that the Chinese have two mining companies operating in Greenland right now?
BTW, do not be surprised if China makes their move to invade Taiwan this year. April and October are the two months when historically weather conditions are most favorable for an invasion attempt.
Mitigating factors are:
1. The Chinese economy is not nearly as strong and stable as it appears for several reasons and the coming sanctions and tariffs and this administrations monetary policies will exacerbate their economic problems. Further, believe it or not, sanctions/tariffs against Canada and certain countries in S. America will also hurt China. Thus Xi Jinping may have serious economic problems on the home front to contend with.
2. Xi Jinping knows that if he goes, he’s going for all the marbles. A failure, or even possibly unforeseen problems and delays in victory once the operations have started, would result in the end of his reign. So he will have to be absolutely confident that his forces will prevail and do so quickly before he makes the decision to go.
3. I expect that Trump will begin providing first class weapons to the Taiwan military instead of the 2nd class stuff that the last administration has limited them to procuring.
