This is a bittersweet Caturday for me – the first without my precious Bad Bad Leo. He died in his sleep, totally unexpectedly on Sunday. I left something akin to an obituary on Monday’s OT about his life and how he came to live with us, but can’t afford to repeat and shed more tears. So, I would just like to post a few pictures of a most wonderful, precious, loyal, brave little kitty.
My heart goes out to you with the loss of Bad Bad Leo. I read your obituary on Monday with many tears. It is three years since my B-2 passed away, still miss him terribly. He came in from outside and went to my husband to be petted and then came to me to be petted and then went over to the downstairs door and lay down and passed away. Heart breaking!! We had him 12 years.
We got him at the vet office, we were there with Mary – my German Shorthair Pointer . B2 was in a cage in the office, Mary went over to the cage and B2 came rite up to her. Needless to say he came home with us. My dogs are all raised around cats so B2 was accepted as part of the pack. He was the same coloring as your Bad Bad Leo, he had the extra toe on the front feet.
The name B2 is because I always called my yellow kitties Barney, so B was named I’m a Barney too! Even tho I still have four kitties there will never be any like my B.
God Bless You for taking such great care of your Bad Bad Leo.

Thank you so much Marti for this most thoughtful post and for sharing your story of B2 (love that name). We still have 8 kitties, but it does not lessen the pain. Sometimes “non-animal” people will say something along the lines of, “well, at least you have your other animals.” It doesn’t work that way – no one would ever say that to a parent who has lost a child. All of God’s creatures are unique and special. ❤️ 🫂

You are so right. Having the other kitties does not lessen the pain. B2 was at the top of the list for being special. He would let the dogs pick him up and carry him around. If he meowed they would put him down and pick him up again and bring him to us. They never harmed him in any way. He would curl up on the couch and sleep with the dogs. Especially with Mary, she would lay her head on him and snuggle up to him to sleep. Oh, so many memories of B2 and Mary.
Many tears shed reading about your Bad Bad Leo. Sorry I wasn’t able to reply to your post on Monday. Hard to reply with so many tears flowing. These kitties will always be special in our hearts.

We live in a very rural area much too dangerous for smallish dogs. So we always have large to Xtra large pups. Not one has ever not deferred to the kitties.
B2 and Mary sound so lovng and special. No wonder you have such great memories.
I can’t remember why I walked into a room or what word won’t make its way to my mouth, but…….I remember the most minute details about the many dozens of animals who have graced my life.

Your sorrow and missing I can feel from here. Been there so many times as I know you have, that terrible price we pay for giving and receiving love. My eyes are leaking, girl…
But Lord only knows how his life and peaceful passing would have been so different had he not found you. Something I’ve told myself for each of ours who are with us no longer. And for what small comfort at this sharp moment that may be, I pray you will use it to start to patch the crack in your heart. I’m sorry….I’m so sorry. You know Bets that we have an old guy, Ozzie who has slowly been slipping away from us for months. The day after Bad Bad died, I thought it was over for him too. I fervently prayed that we be given a bit more time to recover, and God thankfully answered that prayer.
All this time, I thought I was preparing for the loss of Ozzie, but the unexpected happened. Another reminder that we are not in charge – only God is. His will be done.🙏

It can hardly compare, but with the two little waiifs who have somehow found us…little gentle Tuxedo and his multi coloured companion who we thought was more ginger…it is the latter who has decided that he is the owner of this abode. He had two days of wary investigating before he gave us the seal of approval and now comes when called, enters to eat, decides which bedroom or sofa to settle on, adores being made a long fuss of, then sleeps for hours before arising, meowing to be let out, returning when he’s seen the world.
It’s little Tuxedo who remains unsure, sitting at the door, even as his companion walks in right by him, turning to coax him with trilly purrs. He’ll get there…
Of the two we would have bet good money it woukd havve been the opposite.
But to your point, I am feeling His presence more of late, learning to let go of my own suredness. Our mighty Father is indeed the Author of all, knowing the number of all the days of His creations. We simply try to make their short lives here the best they can be…angels can do no more. And I’m sure St Francis nods in approval to count you as one of those. As I do to count you as a very precious friend. Love you, Corny 😘

We’re still trying to come up with names, which for some reason is always difficult for us.
We’ve been without animals for so long now, and so our house has been just that…a house. Life in it makes it a home, no matter that these two are transient. The mostly white with multicolours is really too pretty to be a boy….
I know you ascribe to the old saying that a cat should find you. I suspect there are others who will cross your door in time. They just know…💕😽
Betsy, Perhaps name him after an artist as they get splashed with paint , eg. Cezanne, Picasso, Paintpot . Palette ( not masculine enough ?) Jackson Pollock might be appropriate,
or Michelangelo, Leonard Da Vinci, for a more impactful name 🙂

Bad Bad was abandoned by cretins who moved out and left him, along with many other kitties. We have taken in 3 of the friendlies. The others are very feral and live in our garage and little barn. All have been trapped and neutered.
We originally named him Leo – and then our grandson heard “Bad Bad Leroy Brown” on the radio. And that’s the “rest of the story!”

I feel for your heartache, Ms BurroLady. It has been quite obvious for some time here how much you love all the critters at your ranch, large and small. And from your stories and photos it seems they sense and return that love.

Proverbs 27:23 – Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds.
Isaiah 40:11 – God’s nurturing nature extends to His creations
Luke 12:6 – Animals are valued by God1
Timothy 4:4 – God’s creation is good and to be appreciated

Bad Bad Leo shows his contentment in his photos. What a wonderful name! You made him so happy. You can see he has his own personality. They all do. I have had many cats and they were all individuals.
I loved them all but one or two were very special sometimes because of their rough start in life, so I felt a special responsibility to give them a good life. They brought me so much joy.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss of Leo the Lion cat. I didn’t see your post on Monday and will have to go read it here shortly, but I wanted to offer my sympathy and wishes that we could just hang on the curb together and have a good cry.
Your Leo looks like our Timmy – the Alzheimer’s kitty I felt a little down the last few days and started looking at everyone as a “responsibility” – like why in God’s Name did I go and adopt FOUR cats??? I was so close to being “done” and then I went and re-upped my membership in the Cute Cats Club and adopted two more.
Cats, dogs, the rabbit that seems to have set his path off my back patio with his or her tracks in the snow. The Robin birds who seem to be demanding attention in this cold weather, yet we are “forbidden” to feed any of the wildlife here… because the management wants to suck the very last joy out of our souls and then charge us out the butt for the privilege.
Well, I “accidentally” dropped a few handfuls of raw almonds and dried cranberries for our feathered friends prior to the big temperature drop. They can just sue me.
Simply can’t help myself. To me, it just feels like an honor when a wild animal (or a domesticated one for that matter) wants to set up house near us. They feel safe with us and then they bless us with the show of their offspring… little wild parents who, too, love their babies and want to present them to us to oooo and awww over.
But, blue I am – with the reality that everything is finite. I simply don’t know what I’ll do when my little fledglings (all of them) leave the nest. I just can’t take heartbreak much anymore and I rail angrily against it. Get mad at myself for the tears, get mad because I allowed myself to fall in love with the loss.
I simply can’t see the “Bad Bad” in ol Leo Brown, the baddest cat in the whole d@mn town. Meaner than a junk yard dog. He doesn’t look mean to me. He looks like you could pass him a plate of lasagna.
I know it hurts, friend. I am so very sorry. I’m sending big hugs to you from my angel to yours – Spirit airlines. It’s just not fair. Their time with us is so short and I simply can’t imagine my Heaven without them, and I just long to go “Home”… but then the ones I have here… nestle in. They seem to “know” I need them and I can’t think about how loving them now… is going to hurt later. I just must bathe in the here and now and pray time will stand still… for just a little longer.
I’ll mix up a drink, and meet you on the curb. No makeup, no muss, no fuss… my mascara would just run anyway.
He is sure a beauty and I know he was so well loved. You are an amazing Mom. I know you’ll keep loving… but for right now… it’s time for mourning and God holds every one of our tears.

I hope everyone taken in by Fettermans BS have learned their lesson now. Fetterman voted NO on Hegseth’s confirmation after indicating he would be a yes vote.
I listen to Dan Bongino’s pod cast sometimes and he was totally taken in BY Fetteman.
I responded to a Dan Bongino tweet with:
“Dan, I Love you man. But I hope you recognize now that Fetterman played you and a lot of others.”
Fetterman is NOT the moderate Democrat that he is trying to portray. Actions speak louder than words.
And to think there were some who thought he could be persuaded to switch parties. He’s just another democrat Zombie. he’s just smart enough to realize that Trump took his state so he talks the talk.
Collins,Murkowski, and McConnell voted against. VP Vance cast the tie breaking vote with the quip “I thought I was done voting in the Senate”. I hope he still isn’t done doing that.
Now the real battles begin that will tell the tale of who is who and what is what.
McConnell is the chair of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense so Hegseth and the turtle McConnell will no doubt be banging heads is the weeks to come. That is unless Senate Majority Leader Thune grows a set and strips McConnell of his chairmanship.
The way I see it that the only way that is going to happen and that Tulsi, RFK Jr.,and Patel are going to get confirmed the usual way is if maximum pressure from we the MAGA is applied to make the weak sisters in the Republican caucus hold the line. Otherwise Trump is going to have to get Johnson to adjourn congress and make recess appointments.
If Thune doesn’t dump McConnell he will confirm what many of us already strongly suspect and others think they already know, that he is NOT fully behind Trumps agenda as he has claiming he is. I am certainly not optimistic.
And if Johnson doesn’t do whatever is necessary to help Trump get his choices confirmed then he will confirm the doubts many have about his MAGA credentials.
Again: ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS!
We need to address these clowns’ control mechanisms.
How many decades of beating our heads against the wall trying to wake the weak wing of the Uniparty? These fools respond only to who controls them, if we don’t find a way to break that hold we will bash our own minds out in vain.

My daughter’s emergency pit bull rescue got his pathology reports back on three tumors removed during neuter surgery. Each testicle had a large tumor plus a baseball size one on his side. Each tumor was a different type of cancer still encapsulated, so now, all gone.
He’s got the perfect name, Lucky. He was tagged as abandoned and injured from being doused with some kind of chemical. Burns all down his back. Now he’s in a place where he’s being loved on and cared for 24/7. My daughter says he’s becoming like a puppy since his surgery. Loves people and all her critters, including the cats.
I am so excited about this young pitty I just had to share his good news. God is so good!!!!

I love this site for its in-depth commentary, I check here several times a day. Has this site become a pay only site? If so, I will strongly consider paying for the articles, although, I believe it might limit its reach. I am dismayed, greatly, by a 2X3 inch pop up that seems to carry columns from this site but there is no way to make it shrink or go away. It remains a major barrier to reading on my Ipad (my contemporary newspaper). I sincerely hope that this is a bug not a feature. There isn’t information within the black rectangle as to why it is there or how to get rid of it. Please inform me.
I and others have posted about this issue for the last several days, with no response from admins or SD. Which I do not really understand since as you and others have posted the ad which cannot be deleted has really ruined the user experience here. Many of us read the CTH site on an iPhone or IPad or another mobile device, and the ad along with the other pop up ads have become overly intrusive.

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Just wanted to share this: A twitter thread totaling the amount of money that Catholic charitable orgs have been raking in to help illegal aliens. I’ve known this is going on for several years, but to see that over a $Billion has been funneled to illegals when US citizens are homeless, struggling to buy food and get needed medical care is just outrageous.
Whenever you hear, “We’ll never afford to be able to deport 10 million illegals,” just let them know that cutting off this type of aid (I’m sure there are other agencies/Churches, etc getting funds too) will encourage these folks to self-deport and will free up funds to get the criminals out first.

The Sanctuary city of Tucson had (operative word “had”) 2 illegal alien shelters going full blast till…….2 days after the inauguration. One was run by Catholic charities, the other by a different NGO. They were so committed to the cause, that they pulled out 2 days after the funding dried up! It’s a business and we are the payer!

I haven’t had the blessing to be able to read all your posts. I am trying to drag my wagon to put away the Christmas tree. I stored a small portion of the Christmas decor yesterday, but I am having motivational issues. Now I’m looking at my cheery tree and thinking how I can decorate it for Valentines Day. Yeah, I know that won’t pass muster.
Took Savannah to Aldi’s today because they had a small display of blooming Hyacinths that wafted through the entire store. It was marvelous! My Spring favorite and hers, so when she was called to pick up a shift today, we made the point to head over there prior to. We adopted a small one to bring home with a little bit of “hope” for Spring.
Aldi’s had turkeys on sale for $0.77/lb, and since we didn’t have one for Thanksgiving, I picked one up for $14 to brine and roast for tomorrow. We’ll portion it and into the freezer it will go. I also made my first homemade Greek yogurt today and it is fermenting in the oven and will be ready tomorrow mid-day. Thinking of trying to make homemade butter with the whey, because I don’t want to waste anything, and I hear it is also really healthy for smoothies and fermented drinks.
We are so weird. Nice to know we are in good company though here with others who can appreciate our silly stories in our tiny existence.
