In light of the Lord’s encouragement, my advice to the people of Christ, in times like these, is simple…

So true about medicating kitties – got the scars to prove it! One time a vet gave an injectable for me to use (after begging) and it was heaven. Don’t know why we couldn’t have more of that – liability issues I suppose – though they do allow injectable insulin to be prescribed.
Pretty sure many kitties don’t get the full ration of meds due to the difficulty in administering.
Been there, done that, sis. And have the battle scars to prove it 😬
I watched a small video this week of someone hiding three small pills deep into a piece of cheese (I think) then giving it to their rather large dog. And unlike Maggie who swallows anything we give her whole, this lovely animal rolled it around in his mouth, swallowed the cheese and one by one spit out the three pills.

Sleeplessness… it’s going around. We are approaching our last day of “vacation” tomorrow and daughter has taken to intermittent sleeping at night and sleeping through part of the day to recharge in time for her part-time work shift.
We were so desperate for sleep last night, we gave feline Melatonin to the three troublemakers (kitten girls and the grumpy ol’ mean Alzheimer’s cat – cats get it too according to the veterinarian) to try to get a full night’s sleep. Yeah… no.
The elder cat, Timmy (blonde domestic shorthair), is really, really sweet and cuddly during the day… almost a bit of a problem he demands so much attention…. and he is a BIG BOY. Sundowners hits around 7 PM and he flips a switch and starts going on a butt whooping spree as if he were an unruly teenager. He initially will go to bed with Savannah and then he wakes in the middle of the night to Tomcat the others.
Feliway, Composure, Cosequin, and kitty Melatonin – we spend a small fortune on therapeutics for the beautiful little furry beasts.
The kitten girl barn cats were unphased, as if they had been given a glass of wine on a date night and it just made them more affectionate. LOL (Your memes are so “right on” sometimes.)
I got up myself at 1:30 AM and took a 3 mg Melatonin for humans. If you can’t join them… beat them.

We take 15 which usually does the trick (Mo’s RN sister says it is safe to titrate 30 mg), but last night it didn’t. Got up for a cup of a tea and took 5 more plus ibuprofen for the kinks.
Our Welsh barn cats, all of them save one (our beloved, sweet first) were so gentle and unperturbed by anything. Our Jack Russell Penny though she was a cat and they all lived in blissful camaraderie.
Nothing specific kept me from drifting to dreamland. but as here with our friends, I am reading comments from others who are enduring the same thing. I believe most of us are unsettled and with cause…not that Jan 20 is going to remedy that. I think we are on for quite a ride this year. Do cats (and dogs) have that supernatural sense?

Fully believe our cats and dogs sense anxiety and heightened awareness. No doubt.
Yes, I’m a lightweight with most things medicinally. I’ve gone up to 6 mg but do not take it regularly as I heard one can develop a resistance to it… thus upping the dosage. Not sure the truth to that claim, but I was taking them regularly years ago and then they seemed to be inert and I stopped taking them to sleep.
If we can get our workouts in, the increase in oxygen and exertion helps us sleep better. Some minor muscle injuries waylaid us for a while. Contrast therapy of alternating ice and moist heat (15/20/15 minutes…. etc) helps with some of those kinks. Magnesium, too, upwards of 600 mg a day. Magnesium lowers lactic acid in aching muscles, which causes the hurt. Works wonders.
Timmy is Savannah’s very best friend and the brother of the Russian Blue, Danny, we lost two years ago, so he is deferred much grace. We go through a nightly routine of separating him from the others when his mind leaves him. If he’s sleeping, he’s good.
It’s when he wakes in the middle of the night and the kitties practice their nocturnal rounds… things get hairy. If only Harold the Maine Coon would realize he’s bigger and put up a good defense, it would help considerably. Alas, Harry is a lover not a fighter… so he “screams out” when Tim is being a jerk.
I still wouldn’t trade any of them for the world. I would like a nice sleep, though.
I’m afraid we sacrifice much when we take these toe beaned creatures to our hearts and in our homes. There isn’t a day goes by that I don’t reflect on our brood when we lived in Wales. Miss them all 💔

Two of our little waifs which have found their way to us are letting me stroke them now, which is real progress. I keep thinking about how long it took Tink to come around, hoping we’ll get them there. Bitter cold is coming on Sunday and I am very worried for them. I’ve set up boxes in the garage with blankets. They may belong to someone in our neighbourhood which is what I am hoping so that they have a warm home. But just in case…

Once upon a time, patrick…
I’ve always liked this tune. Had it on a CSNY album back when it first came out.
Recently I “discovered” a group on YouTube who does this and other oldies tunes **very** nicely….even awesomely IMHO… It’s a group of older male musicians and some young foxy chicks doing the harmonized vocals.. Group is called Foxes and Fossils and have been doing this for about 14 years or so.
Well. Our family has been in Florida since Monday. We stayed in Zephyrhills for the first couple of days with family at New Years. Then a day trip to Tarpon Springs. Very quaint and intriguing town.
Then we travelled to Ft. Lauderdale and spent the morning at the beach.
After lunch we visited my daughter’s boss who lives in Ft. Lauderdale. Wonderful home on one of the canals.
After we raced north as far as possible to see Space X launch. We found a place to pull over and what an experience.
After we thought it would be fun to see if we could see Mar-a-Lago. What an incredible police presence. Still we got as close as possible and had to turn around.
Tomorrow we head back to Wesley Chapel area and head out for range day! That should be a blast!
Florida is so wonderful. We love every visit.

Biography: Cornelius Vanderbilt rose from humble beginnings to become one of the richest people in nineteenth century America as an influential shipping and railway magnate and the founder of the Vanderbilt family dynasty.
Vanderbilt began his trade ferrying goods and people along the inland waterways around New York. During the 1812 war he secured government contracts and enlarged his fleet. After the war he switched to the steamboat industry, making his way by undercutting competitors and offering more luxurious services to passengers. Vanderbilt’s business made him tremendously wealthy and he was nicknamed ‘the Commodore’ for his dominance in maritime trade.
After the California gold rush Vanderbilt formed the Accessory Transit Company to transport people, via Nicaragua to the West Coast. During the American civil war Vanderbilt lent his flagship steamship the Vanderbilt to the Union Navy at the request of Abraham Lincoln.
If was only later in his career that Vanderbilt turned his hand to railways, for which he is most remembered. He had gained control of the New York and Harlem Railroad by 1863, which controlled access into New York. He then acquired a network of other railways so that by 1873 he could offer the first rail service from New York to Chicago. In 1869 he began construction of the first New York railway terminal, that would be eventually replaced by Grand Central Station. When he died in 1877 his personal estate was the world’s largest at 105 million.

The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck is a children’s book written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter. It was first published by Frederick Warne & Co. in July 1908. Potter composed the book at Hill Top, a working farm in the Lake District she bought in 1905. Following the purchase, her works began to focus on country and village life, incorporating large casts of animal characters and sinister villains. Jemima Puddle-Duck was the first of her books set wholly at the farm with background illustrations based on the farm buildings and yard, and nearby locales.
Jemima is a domestic duck of the Aylesbury breed, whose eggs are routinely confiscated by the farmer’s wife because she believes Jemima to be a poor sitter. Jemima searches for a place away from the farm where she can hatch her eggs without human interference, and naively confides her woes to a suave fox who invites her to nest in a shed at his home. Jemima accepts his invitation, little realising her danger: the fox plans to kill and roast her. Kep, a collie on the farm, discovers Jemima’s whereabouts and rescues her just in time. Potter indicated the tale was a revision of “Little Red Riding Hood” with Jemima, the fox, and the dog acting as parallels to the fairy tale’s heroine, wolf, and woodcutter. Jemima, Kep, the farmer’s wife, and her two children were all modelled on real world individuals at Potter’s Hill Top farm.
The book was hugely popular. Spinoff merchandise included a soft Jemima doll in bonnet and shawl, a Jemima painting book in 1925, and illustrated fabric placemats hand-fashioned by Potter and distributed to friends. Critically, the book is considered one of Potter’s best.

If you have not seen ‘Miss Potter’ – a film (2006) about Beatrix Potter’s life during her rise to success and beyond, I strongly commend it to you. She was a Brilliant woman and far ahead of her time in many respects.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

The weather models cannot make up their mind of come to any form of agreement about exactly where the heavy snow band is going to be. This morning several have started showing the heaviest snow band coming in right over Indianapolis again after showing it coming in over Louisville the day before. Not only are the weather models unable to agree with each other, they can’t even agree with themselves for a 24 hour period. Pretty sad performance this late in the game. I guess by Sunday afternoon I’ll find out when it gets here if we’re going to get the heavy stuff that I am hoping for.

Waves were always mesmerizing to me. At Maverick’s, Half Moon Bay, California – they are reporting a new world record of a surfer tackling a 108 foot wave. Brave and totally crazy!
Waves this big move so fast that surfers have to be towed into it by the jet skiers… rather than swimming into it… and sometimes rescued out of it by the jet skiers. Nimrod could probably give some great commentary.
Imagine the surfer is 6 feet tall… then the wall of water towering heavy behind him.

This would make a fun “misheard lyric” game. I hope this new “magi” song brings a smile, and perhaps a tear, but far more than that, I hope it gives you hope and makes you happy at the good news of Jesus, The Savior of the World. (Spoiler Alert: Song doesn’t end when you think it will. Giddyup.)

Commemoration of the Reconquest

Hi there. Just saw your message from yesterday and I wanted to alert you that I left you a response. Big hugs to you, friend.
Daughter got off work last night and it was too late to cook anything. Getting off at 8:15 to 8:30 PM can tend to play havoc on dinner plans. We were hankering for a gourmet hamburger and fries – as we do not fry anything at home – so off we went to our little farm to table restaurant down the road that serves until 10 PM on Friday and Saturday nights.
When we got there, Savannah abandoned the idea of simple burger and fries and went all out for a prime rib, medium rare, green beans, and macaroni and cheese. Well, the servers at this little place tend to favor her and they brought out this HUGE hunk of beef – about 2 inches thick – 5 inches wide – and at least 10 to 12 inches long. That sucker must have been at least 24 ounces of die hard locally sourced prime meat! She was in heaven and was eating like a seasoned cattle rancher!! And then she ordered a brownie dessert… and she PAID THE BILL generously tipping the sweet server $20. $75 for the meal… not bad considering the quality of the steak.
The two guys next to us who looked like bald, very muscular, FEDS… laughed at us as we received our dinners and I joked that I got the kiddie meal and kiddo got the adult meal. She had her leftover prime rib for lunch and put half of it in the freezer for another day. I laugh that she’s such a voracious eater and prone to high end gourmet. Her favorite part of the meal? The green beans. This place makes FRESH green beans, crisp, and perfectly seasoned – we have to order them every single time we’re there.
It’s hard when our kids grow up and become adults and our time together is shortened and they begin to pursue lives on their own. I thank the good Lord that she still wants to hang out with me and even treats her old Mom once in a while.
Feeling blessed. I pray your days are blessed as well!!! Live and love life. It is a God-given gift.
Incidentally, kiddo was a bit peeved at me that we are out of coarse cut horseradish at home. “Mom, when you drop me off. Please go to the store and buy some horseradish for steak.” LOL… I’ve created a monster.
