Wow! That was beautiful. Thanks for the cool find, Garrison. That young man has mastered such an incredible art. Voices of angels. I used to love the pipe organ at the Crystal Cathedral when I served there long ago as the Head Greeter under Robert A and Robert H Schuller – long before the big scandal that set that church into other hands. It was gorgeous in there and the sound… amazing. The Glory of Christmas was my favorite to serve and I could stand in there performance after performance and never dull from it. Times long ago.

Agreed, friend. I served as a lay leader there for about 18 months. The building should still be there…. isn’t it? Haven’t checked in on it in forever. Terrible sad state of affairs about their financial mishandling. The Catholic church purchased the cathedral. Had a beautiful cemetary where Marie Callendar and Roger Williams were buried. I was the Los Angeles county rep for Power Systems Associates (Caterpillar) for industrial engines at the time. Built a home in Fallbrook (NE San Diego county). A different lifetime ago. I got to see Norman Vincent Peale and Dr Laura Schlessinger while there. It was terrific, but they didn’t teach on consequences… and that could be problematic. Served under Pastors Lawrence Wilkes (yep… that was his name…not Welk… lol) and Terry Nyhuis.

I had the good fortune to hear the Newberry Organ played at Woolsey Hall, located on the Yale University campus.
It has quite a storied history and some pretty impressive stats:

160 miles of electrical wire
9 pipe chambers
2 relay rooms
2 2o horsepower Spencer turbines
Now, I don’t know what all that means, but the sound – heavenly!
The King Of Instruments. The one discussed was in a chapel with a 7 second reverb (!). A long ago friend left town to become an organ builder. Ended up working on historic pipe organs.
What a cool job. So thick in heritage and depth. Legacy work.
Oh, yes. Organ builders still traditionally sleep in the organ loft and are brought meals by the church members. A very intimate, to say nothing of the expense, experience. People always remember. 🙂
When I was in the Army I happened to be at Ft. Meade. One night at a bar I met a guy that was part of a team the traveled around repairing or rebuilding old pipe organs. He told me that they did not modernize them in any way. They used the exact same materials that were originally used when the organs were installed.
Might have been my friend from long ago. Not many real organ builders around (never have been, in fact). What your bar companion told you was true—that’s how proper repairs are made. The organ played was built in the late 1600’s. We were hearing what the original congregation heard . . . 🙂

Thought I’s check out the webcam at the Zugspitze. Tallest mountain in Germany.

Been up that mountain quite a few times and that is where I attended the German Army ski instructor school.
Included in the panorama are the peaks of the Alpspitze, the 2nd highest mountain in Germany and one that I helicopter skied from the summit to the base. The Grossglockner, the highest mountain in Austria which I climbed, and the Tiroler Wildspitze in Austria that I climbed. Did a lot of training in those mountains you can see. In Bavaria, Austria, and Italy.
And let me tell you there is nothing like a low level night infiltration flight by helicopter through that terrain. Never a smooth ride with the updrafts and downdrafts.
Anyway it looks like it’s turning out to be quite a ski season in Europe with a lot more snow on the way. London and Paris are going to get a real good snow this coming Sunday/Monday

I pray thwarted any control over their minds, bodies, and Spirit and and open infusion of wisdom and great discernment to drown out the voices of false prophets, false leaders, false media, and an interruption and collapse of any algorithms created to silence the voices of the Truthsayers.
Father God, Your Son Jesus used twelve disciples to go out into all the world and preach The Gospel. They were wildly successful. How much more so could our work on Your Behalf be bountiful through the gifts and technologies given? Help us to reach those who can still listen, repent, turn from sin, and be saved.
Lord, You created each of us by knitting us together in our mother’s womb and You made us perfectly in Your Image. No one can replicate or duplicate Your magnificent works. The plains and fields declare Your Glory and the skies trumpet and declare Your Son’s Second Coming.
Holy be Your Name!
The clouds move through the sky like the folds of Your robe garment and sweep through, so that all may see Your Glory. Light beams shine through so we may see Your Countenance as You bring Light to our fallen world.

Happy New Year, everyone, from the Woo girls. Daughter is blessedly off today. She gifted me a beautiful Henckel pots and pans set and a Tramontina crock pot set, which currently holds our New Years celebration meal of corned beef slow cooking for four hours. We will have fresh cabbage, turnips, warm German potato salad, and a lime Jello mold made using crushed pineapple and coconut milk, topped with whipped cream for dessert.
Her company closed a sister location in Bloomington, Indiana this week. There is talk from her manager, that her location may be next, which would be a bitter loss for my sweet girl and for our community… but through this, we will rejoice anyway… for sometimes it is the Lord Who moves our mountains to force us into change. God’s Will be done.
The is God’s earth, we are God’s people, and all within it. Give Him praise always! For if He Is with us, who can be against us?
