Thoughts on the passing of Jimmy Carter.
A very decent and good man who was an absolute failure as President.
Gas lines, the collapse of the S&Ls, stagflation, economic malaise, and a demoralized and underfunded military were his legacy as president.
He knew he had failed at the job and did not run for a 2nd term.
I know, I, like many others here lived it.
As a kid…gas lines in Dallas were a wake up call.
I used to park my car in line at a friend’s gas station at night and walk home. Next morning, gas up and off to work. Following night, rinse and repeat with our other vehicle, as IIRC, you could only buy gas on days that the last numeral on your license plate was odd or even to match the day of the month.
Oh, and by the way – you’re cold? Put on a sweater. The opposite of MAGA.
Somewhere in my house, tucked away in a drawer, I still have my I’m Even bumper sticker.
I was living in Gardena, CA at the time and had a wonderful boss (family owned grading and paving business). His wife would pack food in my car and take her books and park in gas lines to get gas for me. It was often a multi hour wait in line to get gas.

I’ve used CD on one of my pups who had a very virulent cancer in his mouth. I believe it gave him another year of comfortable life.
My husband uses DMSO every day on his joints – the smell is a little rough, but it works!

The comment section is blowing up because this woman has published her intention and belief that as a recently naturalized US citizen, she now has dual citizenship with Germany simply because her government allows it.
I would say about 25%+ commenters tell her that she is violating her oath of citizenship by not actually renouncing her German citizenship and that she is, in fact, publishing her immigration fraud for the internet and the US Government to see.
That leaves the other portion of the 100% commenters saying “welcome to the USA! you’re one of us now!!”
Insanity. Who will be the first to contact immigration authorities for clarification on her claims in the video?
Wow, that was privatized quickly.
Yeah. Seems she listened to someone about the legal jeopardy she put herself in. She stated in the video that she didn’t want to lose her green card because it meant so much to her. But she wanted/intended to go to Germany for a period of time exceeding some regulation within her permanent resident status. She had “won” the naturalization lottery and went through the process including swearing the oath and signing to confirm. She stated that she believed Germany didn’t need to change her status as a German citizen and would retain her German passport and thus would have dual citizenship.
She stated that by going through the naturalization process, she would be able to visit Germany again for an extended period of time. That was her stated purpose — to get around the limit of time associated with her permanent resident status.
It feels like she thought she was getting away with something and that it was legal simply because she believed Germany would allow it. By implication, she didn’t seem to think the US government’s view was relevant… or severely misunderstood the oath and the signing of it.
….and it’s back. Could have been edited? Will review. She certainly seems to implicate herself with motive and intentions.
I wonder how many people are dual citizens of the USA and Mexico, Ireland, Israel, and so forth.
After taking the oath, I don’t believe there are any communications with other countries about it. It’s on the new citizen to manage those details and I suspect many don’t. But if you’re Ted Cruz and you have dual citizenship with US and Canada while trying to run for President in 2016? You might want to clean that up before anyone notices. And that’s the catch — the “before anyone notices.”
According to the video, her German passport was active and she intended to use that rather than applying for a visa as a US citizen. It would save trouble when processing through customs… but then processing back into the USA she would need to return under a German passport which wouldn’t necessarily cause any red flags unless they are using facial recognition (I hear that’s now standard) and it would likely pull up her US passport identity…. which would cause questions. And if she used her US passport upon arrival, they might be like “uh… we didn’t know you left!”
So I don’t know. It would be complicated. But I imagine enough words were written to convince her to pull that down and probably get ahead of anything since she hasn’t actually DONE anything yet…. no US passport yet or any of that. So maybe the controversy helped her to remain as a US citizen and to clear up/prevent future difficulties.

While the content of the naturalization oath is very clear and backed by US law, it appears that (8 U.S.C. 1481(a)(2)) was revised in 2022 to ALLOW people to seek additional citizenship and yet at the same time (which hasn’t changed) the naturalization oath law requires renouncing their former citizenship.
This is a MESS which probably needs to find its way to SCOTUS. It’s not just illegal immigration… it’s this sneaky new update to long standing law also. The Biden administration made legal any form of split and conflicting loyalty. This is completely against the founding principles of this country and I think against the constitution.
Who created and passed this revision? How do we start a campaign to reverse this? Under this revision, it is legal to have citizenship of an enemy nation and also serve in the US military? Does anyone not see this as a problem?

Well. That was an experience.
It occurred to me following Elon and Vivek’s reasoning America shouldn’t have one single non-Indian sailing a naval vessel or flying a fighter jet. After all we’re just lazy uneducated backwards hicks who should step aside for our mental superiors.
I’m not quite sure that’s the message. I encourage you to look at the timeline of H1B abuse and what it has caused in terms of people leaving tech and engineering fields. Add to that the current generation of engineering and other technical types coming through the educational pipelines. Fewer and of lower quality due to DEI (remember who the schools have been discriminating against).
Musk and Ramaswamy may be directionaly correct in that we simply do not have the volumes of up-to-date skilled people to do the work that lives on the cutting edge. This would be due to historical abuse of H1B coupled with DEI in skills education.
Add those two together and what picture do you get in terms of US American candidates for such work?
It wasn’t a problem when the abuse started but it probably created it and DEI made it worse.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Living near WPAFB old Wright Field was heaven for a kid with flying on the brain.
When I think about that day I can still feel the wheels leave the ground!
Once the flying bug bites there is no cure…
Fun to talk about, too, isn’t it. Passenger jets are not the same.
I always thank the airliner crew for the ride. Generally I get back thanks for flying with us. I reply “you fly, I ride, when I was flying it was behind 65 horsepower”.

Used to live near WPAFB myself a long time ago. Worked for a catering company and mowed yards when I was a kid in high school. A couple of years I got to flip burgers and turn hot dogs and brats for folks in one of tents on the front row at the Dayton Air Show.
Wow, was THAT ever cool. Got to watch the show while I grilled for people who were all happy to be there.
Great old birds, and great new birds flying and doing their thing.
It.was.AWESOME.
I miss the sonic booms and fighters blasting overhead to this day.

Mom had a massive stroke two days before Christmas.
Her husk is in Hospice and she will hopefully pass soon.
She would have been 94 in April.
I begged her not to get the covid death shot but she insisted (your not a doctor!)and my sisters took her anyway. For their trouble mom got a stroke and heat attack. I truly believe she would have seen her 100 birthday had it not been for our evil gvt! She recovered a great deal and was in good spirits in 2020.
If you would like to put in a good word for her easy passage I would appreciate it.

The posts about President Carter today and the comparisons and critiques of his presidency……..had me researching the ranking of Presidents by a variety of historians and pundits.
I absolutely reject most of the rankings! Liberal academics don’t apply logic or even understand it based on their ranking of the Presidents.
Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) continually comes in very high, sometimes even above Washington or Lincoln.
For cripes sake FDR is given credit for ending the Great Depression when his own Sec of the Treasury said this, “We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work. And I have just one interest, and if I am wrong … somebody else can have my job. I want to see this country prosperous. I want to see people get a job. I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises. … I say after eight years of this Administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started. … And an enormous debt to boot.”
FDR had almost 14 years to end the Great Depression………huge fail. How in heck can anyone state with a straight face that FDR ended the Great Depression? It ended in spite of his New Deal government spending. Why did it not occur that all that New Deal spending was interfering with business and the recovery?

It was the Japanese bombing Pearl Harbor that started the end of the great depression in the US. However, it took a decade for the US to fully recover from the debt accrued during the war. That being said, the US was far better off in the decade after the war than any of the other major combatants despite many countries never paying their war debt to the US. Rationing and food shortages continued in Britain for seven years after the war ended and their treasury has not and never will be what it was in those colonial days before the war. When I went to Germany in the 80’s there was war damage, lots of it, still visible in East Berlin. In 1989 the main train station in DieKirch, Luxembourg still had war damage showing.
