The crazy thing is that my sister likes being fat. She calls herself a BBW (big beautiful woman) and does not want to lose weight. When she had to lose 30 pounds in order to have surgery a few years back she did it easily and said she could lose a lot more “easily” if she wanted. The barter token is “a hard-to-compute number.” The entire scheme is based on “trust” in both people and technology. Common sense will tell you they are right! We are creatures of habit, and we get distraught when they are disturbed!
My point was that the article contradicts itself.
I enjoyed living for many years in Arizona, which does not observe Daylight Savings Time. (Except on the Navajo Reservation, which does.) Folks who live in the desert want to take that extra early-morning time to tend their yards in the relative “cool.” (sic)
If you didn’t have a watch or clock and didn’t know the official time, you couldn’t figure out when is a good time to tend your yard?
Here in Erie, PA it is night time at 7:3o AM. If the clocks weren’t set back it would be night time until 8:30 AM. As of NOW, children are leaving the house to walk to school, or much more likely, waiting outside to be picked up by busses, when it is officially daylight which is a good thing. On the other end of the day, children would be coming home in daylight whether it is at 3 PM or 4 PM so Daylight Savings Time wouldn’t apply either way.
The school issue has been the only explanation I’ve heard that makes any sense at all. It would have no impact on my life at all.
If farmers or anyone else wants to start or end work according to the amount of daylight it certainly would be extremely easy to just inform employees that for “X” months we start at “X” o’clock and for “Y” months we start at “Y” o’clock.
Too many things are tied to the method of time being used by the community at large for your way to work. Sure, someone can get up earlier or later or go to bed earlier or later, but most people have obligations that require adherence to the time method of the community at large, so it wouldn’t be practical other than for people who led relatively isolated lives and didn’t have obligations to others.
Daylight Savings Time was put into effect for farmers. Period.

This behavior on Trump’s part mirrors how he acted when Thomas Massey stood in the way of allowing the emergency COVID relief bill to pass on unanimous consent.
That bill was at that time the single most expensive piece of legislation ever passed.
Massey hopped into his wife’s SUV and drove back to DC to get there in time to force that bill to be subjected to a more regular process. The legislators needed to show up for work and own their votes. If cashiers were expected to be present on the job to ring up a $50 sale during COVID, legislators should be on the job before passing a bill that could create a massive amount of debt.
Massey ate snack crackers and slept in his wife’s vehicle in order to be present to object to the manner of the vote. In the end, he forced the other members of congress to return for a recorded vote.
Trump contacted Massey. When Massey returned the call, Trump did not ask for Massey’s reasons for slowing down the process. Instead, Trump berated him. Trump threatened to get Massey primaried out. Trump tweeted that Massey was a 3rd rate congressman. It was quite nasty.
Now, Chip Roy is being subjected to the same treatment for trying to pull a spending bill into something similar to regular order.
This is not a good look.
At least Chip Roy may win his next election with more than the 61.85% that he garnered in November.
