One interesting thing to me is that the two defense pilots had their fighter planes staged at a rural airfield down off the plateau air base at Wheeler Field, at Haleiwa air strip. It was a barely groomed airstrip, maybe asphalt paved or maybe just graded dirt, I don’t know the history
It’s interesting to me because it’s on a limestone shelf that I’ve surfed off of in later years, there are a couple surf breaks just off the shelf. This is the best aerial footage of the nature of that cleared shelf, to whatever extent it was groomed as an airstrip.
That limestone shelf is found at many other places around Oahu and was formed during the Last Interglacial stage, about 125,000 years ago, at a sea level about 20 to 25 feet higher than present. In the same way there are coral reefs offshore where the breaking waves are, this shelf was the same kind of reef but with higher sea level and a shoreline a bit inland from present, up to 25-ft elevation.
After that, the continental ice sheets re-formed for about the 4th time on a roughly 100,000 year cycle. The ice sheets sequestered a lot of the world’s water and sea level plummeted to about 450 feet below present sea level. So the coastline in those glacial times was miles out to see from present shorelines.
About 17,000 years ago, the ice sheets melted away and sea level rose back to present level by about 6,000 years ago, likely engendering many of the flood myths of ancient civilizations.
This area of the North Shore of Oahu was also home to some G.I barracks, and corrrugated aluminum quonset huts from that period still were available as cheap rentals for surfers into the 60s and 70s. I slept in a couple in the 70s. There might be a couple left, though most have been replaced by more modern-built housing.

Another interesting thing to research online is that the last 125,000 years of glacially-lowered sea levels enabled migration of early humans across exposed land that is now water. The best example is the peopling of Australia by the Aborigines during a sea-level lowstand around 70,000 years ago.
Think of sea level being 450 feet lower than present. If you live at the coast, how far out would the shoreline have been?
Sea level was low enough that there was an exposed land bridge between Australia and New Guinea so they were part of the same land mass. And there were narrower straits of water between islands in the Indonesia chain that out-of-Africa folks migrated down to island-hop over to Australia.
You can keyword search to find Wiki pages and anthropology articles that describe all this, it’s pretty fascinating and a hobby of mine (I’m retired and have the time)

Nope. Envoys are created by and for the POTUS as needed. Ronald Reagan sent Donald Rumsfeld to Lebanon as his special envoy while I was there.
Now Sundance described them as a kind of human recording machine that just transmits messages back and forth. But they do more than that. They tell the POTUS what they observed and what their interpretations of what they observed are. They give their judgments on the veracity of the responses they report to the POTUS because they are the only ones seeing the facial expressions and body language of those they are talking to.
Often what appear to be very mundane observations are actually strong indicators. Was the desk of the person the Envoy was talking to clean and organized? How many times was their conversation interrupted by officials reporting to or advising the subject? What was the attitude of the officials in the palace or government building where the meeting took place?
All kinds of things are tip offs that when taken together and properly interpreted can provide far more insight to what is going on than the mere words of the subject being communicated with.

But, every once in a while we got: Chubby Checker, The Chiffons, Beach Boys, The Marvelettes, Martha and the Vandellas, Ronettes, Four Seasons, etc.
We wore white gloves, stockings, and tiny little Queen Anne heels. The boys sat at one end of the gym, the girls at the other.
Afterwards, we dropped the pretense and played like the kids we still were – sometimes even skating on the nearby duck pond in our finery!

The very first song we learned to play sitting outside on the wooden stairs was the terrific Eric Burdon & the Animals smash hit – “House of The Rising Sun” and we killed it! and it was more fun than being in class!
The really funniest part of the story is that Eric Burdon ( who sang the hit record ) lived immediately next door to my friend with whom I learned to play the song! lol.

Biography: Waller was one of the most popular African-American jazz pianists of the 1930s. He began performing as an organist for silent movies, moving on to the piano for club dates and Broadway shows. His longstanding band “His Rhythm” were early successes from the infancy of recording in the mid 1920s and continued through to his death in the early 1940s. His energy and spontaneity and the band’s continuity resulted in many one-take recordings which were both popular and profitable.
In addition to his music, Waller earned fame as a comedic radio performer on shows such as the “Rhythm Club”, and was starting to transition to film when he passed away.
Recognition for his contributions continued long after his early death.
His jazz hits include now standards “Ain’t Misbehavin'”, “Honeysuckle Rose”, and “Squeeze Me”. The first two of which were inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
The 1977 cult film “Eraserhead” by David Lynch featured Waller’s rare jazz on pipe organ recordings. A long-running Broadway revue “Ain’t Misbehavin'” debuted in 1978, winning several Tony Awards, and Emmy Award; the 1988 revival won a Grammy Award.
Waller was inducted into The Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 1970; The Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame in 1989; and awarded a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1993.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I am guilty as the author in reacting one of these little beings, but thinking on what she says here widens the meaning of fear and how people handle it, made me think how I handle it. We have a spider here called a “wolf spider.”
They’re very large, scary looking……and totally benign. In fact, they eat all sorts of dangerous insects and other spiders. They will, sometimes, surprise you and be in a mug in your cabinet or fall off on your counter. I always leave them alone, or set them outside if the kitties are stalking them. My fiends laugh at me and I laugh with them. They really are a gift. 🎁

Evening Prayer For Forgiveness
Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing me through this day and Lord, forgive me for the times when I have wandered outside Your best will for me, instead of trusting You implicitly.
Thank You, that You are such a gracious Shepherd to me and that You come and rescue me even when I lose my way and stray from the path that You have laid out for me.
As I look back over today, I know Lord that there were things that I should have said and done differently, and times when I reacted in a manner that was not honouring Your holy name. Forgive me I pray, but thank You, Father, that You always faithfully prepared to gently bring me back to Yourself.
Give me a good night’s sleep I pray, knowing that there is no condemnation because I am in Christ, and may I wake up in the morning refreshed and ready to do Your will. In Jesus’ name I pray,

Heavenly Father, as I lie down to sleep tonight, I pray that You would guard my sleeping and protect my mind from wandering thoughts and unnecessary planning. Teach me to wait for Your perfect timing and not to try to plan my future in my own strength.
