Last month was not a one-off accounted for by not paying people in front of the end of the fiscal year to make the deficit look better.
By the way that tax receipt amount is only about 13% Medicare so there was just $4.3 billion – in other words Medicare and Medicaid were, last month, 1.76% funded with tax receipts. Of course Treasury doesn’t split that tax receipt amount out between Social Security and Medicare — on purpose.
That’s right — we have now gone exponential on the unfunded part of Medicare and Medicaid (which was recently 20% funded) — last month it was less than 2% funded.
Either Trump stomps on the entire medical system on day 1 of his Administration with indictments by the dozens and enforced level and transparent pricing (as I’ve put forward now for well over a decade) — no mealy-mouthed bullshit, no “we’ll work on it” and no obstruction by any member of Congress — or the entire federal budget detonates, the economy detonates and if you let that happen then you DESERVE the complete failure of the American economy and system of government which is exactly what we are going to get.”

I think that they think they are addressing the debt, but they aren’t, which is Mr. Denninger’s whole point, the problem is almost entirely in CMS and that has to be fixed yesterday.
Have you seen any acknowledgement of this from anyone in the nascent administration? I have not.
When one corporation bills another corporation for goods and services, there is negotiation which leads to price discovery. When a corporation bills the federal government for goods and services, there is no negotiation, the bills are simply paid.
Given carte blanche, there is no incentive for a company to restrain the amounts of their charges for goods and services authorized by law to be reimbursed by the Federal government. In order for the government to contest overcharges, there must be a line item in the budget to pay for the cost of contesting the charges or prosecuting fraud. Congress always opposes paying to expose waste, fraud, and abuse, so there is no line item in the budget to do it.
Congress must authorize DOGE. It is because the Antideficiency Act requires work done for the Federal government to be paid, and Congress has to authorize paying for it. There will be opposition, because Congresspersons are joined at the hip with those profiting from the budget deficits.
I have asked this question in the past. How much of the “debt” is held by the U.S.? Debt can be wiped out without destroying the country. If the totality of government were forced to live withing existing tax revenue that would indeed slow the race to the bottom. No more spending increases of any sort until the mess is cleaned up.
One thing I have always considered when pondering President Trump’s administration(s) is how adept and experienced he is with bankruptcies, and how he could well be the person to handle an outright default of the U.S. sovereign debt. The US and CH are so economically co-mingled sometimes for brief moments I don’t concern myself with the real possibility of a “Red Dawn”.
But, the idea that the international banking cartels would be left holding an empty bag in a monetary default is some small consolation. But it couldn’t happen to a nicer basket of snakes.
By now I think the actual banktruptcy has occurred. Just never announced officially. Because then the people panic.

IMO these “freak weather events that have now become normal” are manmade and deliberate to drive people out of their homes so that they can be purchased by Blackrock, Vanguard and State street. Something I have been talking about a lot, just recently even, is the extent to which Ukraine’s president has had any agency, and the fact that he keeps being framed as an obstacle to peace, despite it’s been widely known now that he was ready to make a deal with Russia very early on.
As far a what he thought was going to happen, or what his motivation was,when he ran for president and won, we just don’t know.
What happened afterward seemed obvious, to me at least. Did he run based on getting membership in NATO? I don’t recall, but I wasn’t really paying attention, but we know that after he got in office he started talking about it all the time.

And WE here know that the young and upcoming smart people in this country that will go places want nothing to do with “Institutions”.
I can add to this something I’ve witnessed on a personal note to confirm this: I’ve got teenagers right now that are nearing the end of their high school years, they were smack dab in the middle when Covid hit and really felt that event deeply upon them at these critical ages.
They were forced to wear masks to school at a time where their faces were all zits, they were highly self conscience, masks made it that much worse, they then suffered huge consequences at school if they took them off.. I mean this time was a complete disaster for all the kids that age and imagine their slowed time perception, they felt as though it would never end.
And let me tell ya, they have not forgotten at all what “School” is all about and what ‘school’ did to them.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, they’ve had a transgender disaster forced upon them… they can see and understand that it’s wrong and nuts, and yet they know they are not allowed to say a word.
So you think this generation will want anything at all to do with “Institutions” ?
What at all good has come from any of them that they’ve seen?
They will be shunning them like a house full of evil.
The kids in this generation cannot stand school and have muddled through, but I’m not seeing any kids at all in our little group of people that are ‘college bound’.
I see plenty of smart successful kids that will be heading into careers in local jobs where there are clear paths upward and this is good enough- they feel.
They don’t seem to desire to be well off, getting by is good enough. Quality of life matters to them.
So yes, I do see a growing backlash towards all “Institutions’ because of what these places all did to us during Covid.
That had a much larger impact on young impressionable teens that what we understood.. they unwittingly taught the next generation how bad an “Institution” is.
These kids are now at an age TODAY where they are developmentally at an age where they can articulate the anger they felt back then that they couldn’t explain at 12 and 13 years old..
Their generations are going to be very different and I think the Democrat party has no idea, even still, that they created a couple generations that despise all that they are.

I’ve spent many hours talking it over with my younger son, who was finishing up high school during this period. Senior classes were done over video chat, and were a complete joke. No senior prom, no graduation ceremony. Starting college was delayed a year, because I wasn’t paying those kind of bills for hastily assembled correspondence courses.
It’s an understatement to say that those events shaped him. He’s a very bright guy, but he went from having huge ambitions to…as the article suggests…wanting a quiet, comfortable life. Even now, he’d be just as happy working a trade as finding a job in his degree field.
He’s not angry, but he fully understands how his life has been interfered with.
Younger kids are going to need trauma therapy, and there won’t be enough to go around.
Besides, you can’t trust a child therapist these days.
I totally agree with you and see this in my own kid- that is at this point now of needing to make choices about his future.
What it is, is that they can now see how small and powerless they really are, so why bother… if you can scratch out a living and be happy, THIS is the goal here not becoming a cog in ‘their wheel’ and allowing them to use them up and spit them out.
That these students at only 16, 17 and 18 years old have figured this all out already speaks volumes about the traumatic event they endured and how intelligent they are -actually.
They know right now what it’s taken their own parents nearly a lifetime to figure out.
I call it COVID resentment. It’s worldwide and across generations.
Spouses and parents dying in practical isolation generates resentment among the older ages. A friend reported that 60% of small businesses in Vienna, Italy went broke during Covid. Chinese investors scooped up the assets and now they run around like they own the place.
We are early in the diagnosis and the repercussions are just starting.

My older daughter, valedictorian of her high school, graduated from college in the wake of the Shamdemic.
Her little sister lived through the hell of Shamdemic Skuuling, and to her credit, dropped out from high school and earned her GED, sparing herself the toxic socialization of 1.5 years of indoctrination.
Officials from the local school who advanced their coerced flu shot for entry to face to face classes, the foot in the door for subsequent coerced poison death, were put on noticed by me that they were behaving like a certain political party in Europe in the middle of the 20th century for coercing experimental gene therapy on my daughter.
I will never forget and I will never forgive.
I wish I could tell you how many stories I’ve heard like this- and I’m with ya, never will forgive or forget.
We all endured horrendous life changing disasters..
I mean think about this: everything that everyone had going on just stopped and much of it never got going again or completed.. The Loss is staggering of what was being produced in the pipeline that all just ended.
But now imagine this happening to these high school aged kids that are in no way wired at all to deal with this.
I recall listening to some students back then that called into a talk radio program about the desperate need to return us to normal.
This kid called in to say he’d quit school in the 10th grade- him and most all of his friends.
He explained that he’d spent the entire year before prepping for an auto mechanics course that he was beginning and this all ended.
He had no idea at that stage in high school what else he could do, how do you start your career path over within the 10th grade? There were no guidance counselors available. You can totally see why the suicides of the kids this age took right off.
As the parent of a teen that age, I totally get where he was coming from, his entire plan for his life just ended and he had no idea at all as to how to rebuild something else and no help and a mere two years before graduation this all hits them.
And what did parents know back then? We knew nothing.. none of us even know what on earth would be left or what we’d be working with on the other side of it all.
And these kids were not developmentally prepared at all during those years to deal with that fell upon them.
So they quit school..
Get this, my son has hung out with a group of 4 boys since grade school, there are 5 total in this group.
My son is the only one left that is still in high school right now, all the rest of them quit because quite similar situations as that kid that lost his mechanic course.
The Democrats still do not have any idea the amount of anger we have towards them.. to say they are the party of Institutions and that we all want nothing to do with institutions- this is all really just scratching the surface.

She put a ton of energy into it, writing the script, getting the cast and team up to NH etc. It was quite the scene. She never finished it. I think I now understand why — the whole thing is just too painful. The good news is that she has had jobs even during COVID, but her latest job is hybrid. Her boy friend has had trouble getting full time work.
