Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

✝️ 🇺🇸 🌲 Make America GOSPEL’d Again! 🌲 👍 🙏
Hope Treepers remember..
DECEMBER 7 1941…say a prayer 🙏🙏🙏
🇺🇸💪😀👍
“A date which will live in infamy…”
Personally observed the drops of oil from the bunkers of the USS Arizona breaking surface with a gaggle of Asian tourists who were loud and obnoxious at the somber memorial of the USS Arizona.
There is no other nation like the USA, none. They have used up the best of us in a lot of ways but there is still yet the spirit of America which is the yearning of mankind to be free of servitude and the freedom to worship Jehovah as we wish and will.
Let us endeavor to be that shining city upon a hill for yet a time.
I too have visited the Arizona memorial and watched the oil seeping to the surface decades after 1941. It is an amazingly emotional experience.
Heart wrenching, benzy.
I don’t remember ever seeing a picture of it like that, where you can see the ship underneath the memorial so well. Thanks for posting!
We aren’t done just yet.
Thank you for your service.❤️🇺🇸🙏
This thing is far from over. Appreciate what we have, defend it.
Monticello,
We visited the USS Arizona 10 years ago. A very emotional time, especially since my Uncle Mel had been there on Dec. 7, 1941. He was serving on the hospital ship, Solace, moored not far from Arizona. The planes that attacked were so low and close, he could see the pilot’s faces. He, and other sailors jumped into the burning cauldron to save those blown overboard. My cousin, his daughter, and I correspond every Pearl Harbor Day – we shed a tear together this morning. 😢
During our visit some Asian children were being disrespectful- laughing, running about. If I remember correctly(?), it is the Park Service that administers the proceedings there. A young ranger went past the parents, directly to the kids and read them the riot act: reminded them that this was sacred space, a cemetery in effect. There were brave men, forever entombed beneath their feet. They could straighten up and show respect or board the boat back.
I told that young man how proud of him I was. 🇺🇸
A little late to the party today,as I was up WAY past my bedtime last night, ironically seeing the band America here in Pompano Beach.
After doing 9 months working in Gitmo,I got sent out Hawaii to work at Hickam AFB and Barber’s Point NAS.I usually worked 7 days a week, for LONG stretches of time.
I had a Sunday off,so I decided to make good use of the day and go to the Pearl Harbor monument.
Got up early and drove across the Pali (was living on base with a buddy over in Koneohe) to Pearl City. The first boat out was at 8?AM…was trying to avoid the crowds of tourist.Much to my surprise,I was stuffed on the boat with nothing but….shall I say “orientals”,who were the pushiest, most disgusting stereotypical camera clicking group I think I’ve ever encountered.
I too saw the oil coming up and quietly prayed for all those names on the walls of the men who gave all…
I also prayed for myself (a very rare thing),for the forgiveness of our Father, the Almighty, for the thoughts going through my head….of which I would never repeat here.
All in all,a sad and somber day that left me with a foul taste in my mouth.
Sorry for the negativeness…I do apologize.
Anyways,last night’s concert was wonderful…Casco 🙂
Casco,
I guess I need forgiveness also, as I perceived “gloating.” 😡
I hear you friend.I’m not sure if it was gloating,as I don’t speak any asian languages and could not understand them. But they were definitely very cheerful and full of laughter, which seemed to me as extremely inappropriate for such a solemn place.Being the only American there (other than the guys running the boat, who didn’t seem too happy about it either),I resisted the urge to yell at them,’HAVE SOME RESPECT for the deceased, will you?!
I don’t know, perhaps it’s their culture or something,or maybe it was just me…not sure. All I know is that it rubbed me the wrong way.Maybe things have change now? This was back in ’94.
I never cared much for Hawaii, but have friends who love it.To each his own I guess… I took 2 weeks to see all the islands before I left,as I knew I wouldn’t be going back.I did like the big island, especially south of Kona, down around Captain Cook.I did like going to the Arizona Monument, but just maybe under different circumstances.
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the day that the Lord has made…Casco 🙂
Hello Casco … have missed you!
And, you’re in good company – I ask the Father every day for forgiveness of my wrong thoughts.
It’s hard not to have them with all the stupidity everywhere…
🥰🙏🏻
Well hello back atcha my friend.Great to see you too!
Yes,agreed.I also ask for this as well, perhaps not as much as I should.I come up short on many levels, but just keep trying to get better.
I pray all is well with you and yours.
Got to get back outside and continue yard work and maybe hang some Christmas lights…it gets dark early.
Blessings for you during this advent season and pax vobiscum! Casco 🙂
Casco, I’m still learning about God’s grace!
We all fall short, but He loves us anyway!
That’s Good News to me – hope to you, too!
May you and your loved ones experience the Lord’s kindness in special ways this Christmas season.
And, Dec. 21 is right around the corner – then, it goes the other way!
Longer days …
Hope your Christmas lights shine bright – and Peace be to you!
🥰✝️🙏🏻
Thank you Miss DellaB.You are very kind! Casco 🙂
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Any time spent seeing America in concert is time well spent, and thank you for your service!
Indeed!Last time was 4 decades ago “where the surf meets the turf in Del Mar.
I hope I didn’t come across as being in the service…never was.Just a contractor who worked on many military bases for years.
That honor doesn’t belong to me,so I can’t accept it…that is reserved for our soldiers only.
I do however thank you for the well wishes and consider it a great compliment.Be blessed and have a great weekend friend. Casco 🙂
Yes. Also 12/6 was 159 years since the abolition of slavery in the USA.

December 7, 1941 – A date which will live in infamy. Here’s a look back at the attack on Pearl Harbor
https://www.wthitv.com/news/december-7-1941—a-date-which-will-live-in-infamy-heres-a-look/article_41655828-b320-11ef-bdf9-5340a74ea188.html
Notice he did not declare war on Germany or Italy. Only Japan. He did not feel that public opinion would be with him if he did. That was how strong the isolationist opinion was in the US. But both he and Churchill were hoping that Hitler would screw up and that was exactly what happened. Hitler declared war on the US Dec. 11th. Hitler felt he needed to support Japan.
The reality was though was that the US had been in an undeclared naval war with Germany for over a year as Roosevelt stretched the definition of Neutrality beyond any reasonable definition to try and help Britain by providing US Navy escorts for convoys half way across the Atlantic.
The US high command under General Marshall, who had been made Chief of Staff Sept. 1939, had already changed the focus of war planning from one primarily aimed against Japan (war plan Orange) to one that anticipated a two ocean war.
Though of course the US was critically short of everything needed to prosecute a war of such magnitude at first, the most serious shortage that effected Allied strategy well into 1944 was lack of shipping. Even in 1944 it caused Ike to postpone operation Anvil (later renamed Dragoon), which was the invasion of southern France which was to occur at the same time as Overlord. And despite cancelling Anvil, Ike had to delay Overlord for a month in order to gain a month of production of LSTs (Landing Ship Tank).
All that despite the fact that by mid 1944 the US was producing more tonnage of ships than all other countries in the world combined. Even the miracles of mass production of ships achieved by Kaiser could not get around the fact that US steel production could not keep up with the demands put upon it by nearly every sector involved in war production.
Wonderfully informative Rah! =
and a fine Good Morning to you Sir –
That reminds me I have a family member that once collected old political buttons from WW2 and earlier even.
One I’ll never forget says “Exterminate these three rats – Mussolini, Tojo, and Hitler” with a pic of a rat scurrying.
Lots of “I Like Ike” too 🙂
Good morning. Damned leg cramps kept getting me up last night so I had to do something while waiting for the Bio freeze and ASA to work. Always happens when I increase my physical activity these days. Will probably do it again tonight since I’m going to be loading up the log rack in the house today. But then, once I get to a certain level and maintain it for a day or two the cramps stop.
Having the feeling that your big toe is only held back from going to heaven because it’s attached to your foot gets a bit uncomfortable and will get me out of bed every time.
Used to have them, rah. Started taking daily magnesium supplements… gone. For what it’s worth.
I soak in it often. Epsom Salt! aka Magnesium.
Mornin’ Miss Betsy! Have fantastic and blessed Caturday 🙂
Morning, reed 💕 Thank you 😌… Yes!! Old timey effective remedies back in favour for once again 👍🏻
A couple of my TT playing partners just learned of my using it ( its cold temps now and muscles ache! lol ) and in the last two days I’ve been given no less than two bags they won’t ever use!
They don’t know what they;re missing ! The stuff is fantastic! I also just watched a clip of someone extolling the virtues and effectiveness of DMSO for sprains and whatnot.
So I rummaged around and found I still have two jars of the stuff. Hope I don’t need it anytime soon! 🙂
I love using old timey ( homeopathic and regular household ) stuff as remedies. It’s always my “first choice” as I don;t take prescripion stuff. ( thankfully! )
Mornin’ Bets
Magnesium is the answer (a little potassium thrown in doesn’t hurt.)
There is a product called Magnesium oil that works almost instantly. It is not actually oil, but a super saturated solution of magnesium and distilled water. It is fairly expensive, but I make my own for pennies with magnesium flakes. Lloyd was using it last night because he hadn’t taken enough magnesium by mouth. Miraculous stuff, really.
Morning, Corny 😽 What an education on tried and true supplementary benefits I received as a result of the Covid years and Dr Sherri Tenpenny. It was magnesium which jumped out at me. Started taking it immediately and haven’t looked back 👍🏻
Yep, Bets
Really, almost no one gets enough magnesium – such an amazing mineral. It comes in several forms: some can cause diarrhea (avoid those!) and some have proven to be more beneficial for nerves and the calming influence. I tend to use magnesium glycinate and magnesium L-threonate.
Love Sherri Tenpenny too!
When we have muscle spasms or cramps, we rub magnesium gel on that area. Then supplement with a magnesium. (Magnesium with a covalent bond – weaker bond). Many people are low on magnesium. The serum Mg+ is not as accurate. The RBCmg is more accurate. Doctors don’t like to run this test, so I look to see if the serum mg+ results are in the upper range.
Calcium contracts muscles and magnesium relaxes muscles. When calcium increases Magnesium decreases. Vitamin D uses up mg, so your magnesium gets low, if you don’t supplement with mg+. Stress can use up magnesium. ….
If there’s a knot in the area I push my thumb down on the knot after rubbing the area with magnesium gel. I have seen knots next to the spine. The knoted muscle pulls the vertebra out of place and causes pain. Rub the area with the Mg+ gel to relax the muscle, then push your thumb down on the knot. It helps to release the knotted muscle and pulled vertebra. The muscles in the body seems to be tighter when there’s more calcium than magnesium. Adding magnesium seems to relax the muscles.
Donna
All great advice.
Also, most magnesium supplements are quite large – the actual dose may be as much as 3 capsules/tablets. You might think that taking one is sufficient, but it’s not.
Magnesium is also good for mediating an arrhythmia. Though we need calcium, it is not always necessary to supplement it – and, in fact can be counterproductive.
Great info, Donna.
I would like to add to all this great advice on this thread, re different kinds of Magnesium, as which one to take can be a bit challenging. Everyone’s needs are different. I take Magnesium Glycynate, 200 mgs. a day per capsule.
However, you may need different types of Magnesium at different times of your life, or if your health needs are different:
https://www.verywellhealth.com/types-of-magnesium-what-they-are-and-how-to-choose-8748803
“Magnesium
is one of the most abundant minerals in your body.
Hundreds of chemical reactions in your body involve magnesium.
Your body needs it for muscle contraction, energy production, blood sugar control, heart health, bone development, and more.1 It is found in foods and supplements.
Magnesium comes in several forms, many of which are found in dietary supplements. Even though these supplement forms all contain magnesium, their uses, benefits, and side effects may differ.”
Thank you for link jb. I printed article to keep.
I took care of my mom and her sister (my aunt)
I noticed when they would get Afib their Mg+ was low.
Love a good recipe! Thanks for that!
It took 200 mg chewable gummie on top of the 100 mg in my daily multivitamin I take every did. I did that for several months and it did not seem to help.
Have you ever used DMSO Rah?
It stinks but is a miraculous muscle aching “cure”. Albeit temporary.
Helps also with arthritic pain and neuropathy – Amazon for about ten bucks!
Been using it for years and now weekly as my TT games leave me with twists and aches 🙂
Mornin’ Reed
DMSO is terrific stuff. I particularly like the gel – but whoo doggies……the smell can be a bit overwhelming 😳! Also, must be careful to use only on clean skin – it literally soaks in and can drag any other chemicals or contaminants in with it.
Morning ( well whoops PM!! ) soazburrolady!
I’m just seeing posts been running into a table tennis with my knee but yes DMSO stinks to high heaven. Hate the smell so I’ve gotta be pretty mashed up when I use it.
But it’s in the arsenal, for sure.
As to inducting, yes I’ve read DMSO will do just what you say – i also find a get a skin reddening pretty quickly if I leave it on. Stuff I have says also w/ Aloe Vera but I don’t think the cactus in it is helping lol – DMSO will sting for sure.
Anyone ever use the “Bach Flower Remedies”?
I use their Rescue Remedy and that stuff is miraculous also! Cream/Liquid/Gummies whatever. Fantastic stuff too! They have an entire line of about 40 or 50 “flower” tinctures and I swear by ’em. Been using as needed since the 80’s when I learned of them.
Betsy surely knows about them – They’re from UK 🙂
Rah, do you have enough potassium, salt and magnesium on board?
I feel your pain. My cramps come from my sciatica and scoliosis. After walking too much or other physical exertion, ie, vacuuming, my feet and legs go nuts cramping, sometimes my hands too. I use Theraworks and motrin. Helps some. I never knew my feet and toes could bend in so many ways. I take supplemental potassium as I’m chronically low. It’s just another thing I have to live with.
Bananas will help for the needed Potassium.
Also raisins are good for that. Also a nurse once told me that tomato juice is good for the problem of cramps too. You could get some Athletic drinks with restorative minerals.
Little CBD helps with restless legs and leg cramps Rah. Been taking it for 10 years now. Was hooked on narcotics until I found the CBD helped to reduce stress, comfort the pain and helped with an assortment of other maladies. Not a salesman and did not sleep at a Holiday Inn last night. 🤷🏼♂️😁❤️
The sinking of the USS Arizona. Notice the explosions ashore. Those are not from Japanese bombs but from bags of propellant charges for the Arizona’s 14″ main guns. The bags were blown out of the side of the hull by a Japanese bomb which penetrated the deck and exploded in the aft magazine that supplied the two aft turrets.

The two biggest failures of the Japanese attack were.
No more brother wars
Whenever I see the images of FDR speaking to Congress to Declare War on Japan after Pearl Harbor, I get to see my father again. He is the tall man in the upper right hand corner in front of the dark door. Dad was a Secret Service Agent on the Presidential Detail during the entire War, and traveled with him on the plane to Casablanca, and to every major worldwide event including Yalta. He was in Warm Springs when FDR died and remained on the detail with Truman for the remained of the war, including the entire Potsdam Conference. The image linked here shows Dad stanging behind Churchill at the Quebec Conference.

Wow, Colonel
What a fascinating life your dad had. And, what great stories you must know.
How wonderful that you have those historic pictures and your dad is part of them. Wow!
Pearl Harbor Day, Buddy. Not too many remember anymore these days.
Thank you, Mr. Jim, for this most important reminder!
We remember, and this morning hubs has been talking about some of the related events.
A rabbit trail …
Recalling: when the U.S. bombed Japan; the USS Indianapolis was destroyed; his father’s service in WW2; his uncle’s POW time in WW2; the Vietnam war and Hubs’ lottery number barely missed being called.
What a conversation!
Every generation needs to remind the next one about these historic times!
We can’t depend on anyone else to do so …
Thank you, Mr. Jim, and blessings.
Thanks Miss.Della B..I was 6 when it happened…but don’t remember the radio announcements.. I do remember air raid wardens at night …rationing..collecting metal ..I lived in Queens ,LI , NY at the time..👍
🇺🇸💪😀👍
Mr. Jim, I can imagine hearing those night air raids were so frightening, esp as a child.
My only experience with these type things:
I was 11 y/o in elementary school where we practiced lining up in hallway, on our knees, and using our hands to cover our heads.
It was the Cuban Missile Crisis; I didn’t understand then, but it was scary for young people!
🥰
Thoughtful musings. Miss.Della. We do that here too. From my Uncle in Pearl Harbor, Dad on Tinian, Father-in- law in Normandy, and second father-in-law at White Sands, and husband at San Diego Naval Hospital.
I never stop reminding my kids and now grandkids of the sacrifices. ❤️
Thank you for your family’s sacrifice. 🇺🇸 🙏
And same back to your family, lady!
We talk often in our family about these things … and, those loved ones live on with us, right!
My father-in-law was in charge of a German POW camp in Dade City, Fl.
He left behind some interesting stories for his children – including some letters.
After war ended, one of the prisoners and he continued to correspond for years!
Because FIL was a good man, and treated those prisoners right.
My uncle was in a German POW camp for awhile and when he returned, would not talk about it.
The only thing he mentioned was eating rats.
I wish that generation had shared more about the experiences – but, respect their silence …
And, thank the Lord, my hubs was spared from Vietnam war … so senseless.
We have quite a few friends that went and never came back.
And, some who returned, but disabled.
My husband was in during VN, but was never sent overseas.
Many in my high school class of 1967 went and either didn’t return or returned “not whole.”
No more wars we have no intention of winning!
Thank you, Jim 🇺🇸🙏🏻
Wanted to post this – and am so glad you did. I have been unable to fix my postimage woes, so not posting pics etc.
Is anyone else experiencing problems with postimage? Is there a different service a tech imbecile such as myself could use? Would appreciate any and all advice from treeper friends. ❤️
Hello lady … I’m your ignorant tech buddy –
I usually go to postimages.com, but it’s been down.
Today I tried a new posting host, and it worked for me.
Perhaps experiment with it, lady.

Yes, flag is out blowing in the slight breeze on this beautiful sunny 40° day.
I pray the families of those who gave all will keep their me.ories alive throughout their generations.
Wonderful music Garrison and apropos on this very early Caturday AM and…
A wonderful day to you, Sir ( The first J.S. Bach is terrific ) – I don’t recall much Bach on and for guitar! Lovely performance.
Your kind words are much appreciated, reed. Have a wonderful day!
Howdy Garrison 🇺🇸🙏🏻🇺🇸
Afternoon, friend jay. 🙂
How lovely, Garrison 😌💕☕ Bach has a home for me, especially at Christmas 🌲I can’t think of a more prolific composer, and all, as he said himself, for the glory of God.
Good morning, sweet Tink, on this December CATURDAY!! ☕🌲😽
Incoming!!
WHOA!! Where did that spot come from on my clean white coat?? My mom is going to kill me!!
Yoga, cat style 😼
Reminds me of my Chickens: he lay splayed flat on the floor like that for relaxation.
Like Gary Larsen’s “boneless chicken ranch”, maybe his best cartoon ever!!
You mean this one? 😂
https://twomenandalittlefarm.blogspot.com/2012/08/boneless-chicken-friday-funny.html
🤣
I had a wonderful Larson..like a book calender thing?? hard to recall, Long ago.
But the one cartoon I remember was with the bear playin’ possum, lying in the road, while bear #2 tries to flag down the truck hoping it stops
Truck has painted company info that says “Bob’s Nuts Fruits and Berries” 🙂
Passenger says to the truck driver “Now, you be careful Vern – That bear may be hurt – – but maybe he aint”!
That cartoonist is an all time favorite. A bit twistedly sardonic so – I get it 🙂
Downward facing cat is the toughest of poses..
I’m having trouble imagining that 😂
All nice , as usual Bet … good job..👏👏👏😘
🇺🇸💪😀👍
My Cherny Kot took down the tree the first two years he adopted me.
Lately, I have readopted the tradition of putting up a tree in a locked room that he cannot enter!
We adapt to them, don’t we, GRM. It should be the other way around. But since we are talking about cats. Well, you know 🌲😎….
Grey
With 9 kitties, we finally gave up, and now put the tree (always a living plant of some sort) up Outside the dining room window. Much safer!
We had 20+ of multiple cats without Christmas tree devestation though the big bad Behemoth that now lives with me ended that!
Mea culpe, we have 20+ years…
Indeed! 🤣
😃 😀 😄 😁 🤣
Love it when we can see human reaction and emotion in our animals. So sweet. ❤️
Posted this a while ago and thought I’d check back…yep, still there 😼👍🏻
Three have found their way to us. Food, drink, shelter after a fashion is provided. Wish I could do more to make their winter warmer 🙏🏻

Speaking of artwork – guess who popped in with an ‘AMEN’ last night !!!
LOOK SEE – 🙃
Bets
Meownet!
Bets,
I’m sure I told you that my daughter rescues kitties for the Humane Society (they actually call her for injured or tougher cases).
She, with the help of my grandson, also feeds 120 colony cats every night! Daunting really.
I am saving this, printing, and framing for her. Thanks so much. 🫂
My cat will actually submit and to my calling it, if I use the magic word!
“FOOD”!
Only word in English it has behaviorally admitted to understanding lol
Ha!! I’m working on the three who have recognized a good thing when they see one…that would be me 😎
Good morning, Betsy!
Your comment touched me … 😪
I miss our kitty terribly, and always on lookout for another stray to wander up at our place.
Hubs made a wood box for our Abbie, and she loved it!
Using scrap pressboard on outside, he glued insulation board on inside.
Then, placed a cat heating pad inside, and temp on low, she couldn’t wait to snuggle there!
I know your furry friends are most appreciative of everything you do for them!
😻
Good morn, dear Della 💕☕ We had an “Abbie” when we were in Wales funnily enough. All our cats there were barn cats who found their way to us and settled happily inside as well as out. You’d think they’d be the same as ferals but they are not. Your husband sounds as soft hearted as mine. Bless him and you for your kindness to the least of these, as I tend to think of them.
I half wonder if two of the three who have shown up here don’t belong to someone in our neighbourhood. But in the event that they don’t, Hotel Bucca for Waifs and Strays always remains open and I hope accommodating as best as is possible for us 💕
Our stray kitty arrived when my granddaughter was five y/o.
She suggested the name “Abigail” and hubs declared it so!
We shortened her name to Abbie, and only called her Abigail when she was in trouble. Haha!
Sounds like your new kitties know where “love” resides.
They instinctively understand!
🥰
Haha!! Same!!! Abigail was our kitty’s full name. But we never checked not see if it was appropriate. Much, MUCH later we discovered that it wasn’t 😎. But by that time Abbie knew his name, too late to change. Oops…
All sorts of memories come when we remember the animals who found their homes with us over the years. How can they not? I know when you think of your Abbie, you see your precious granddaughter at 5, too. Poignant in a world with no rewind or pause button…😌💕
Bets,
Maybe Abbie Hoffman?! Have to be of a certain age to understand that!
We had a Maggie who “transitioned” to McGee.
The Yippie guy!? Abbie Hoffman –
Whose book was entitled:
“Steal This Book”!
They say if you remember the 60’s you weren’t there! Not so 🙂
Now that’s funny!
Can imagine the look on your faces when discovery was made!
Your comment gave me another flashback …
When I was about ten y/o, my grandpa had a parakeet named Pete.
He loved that bird – and my grandma hated it.
She was the one to clean up its cage, after all.
One day, she found that Pete laid an egg in the cage!
The bird had been known to escape out the door several times, but they always retrieved him.
So, don’t know if Pete found a mate while outside?
But, I read that females can lay an egg w/o mating, but they are void.
My departed stray … Abbie.
Never really got mad at her, maybe annoyed twice, haha!
(posting link to see if Imgur.com works!)
I lost a beautiful Blue Lynx Point Siamese to some predators when living in the forest last year. Looked like this sorta. Was too young and energetic and had not used up any of the typical “9 lives” – enough to know it’s way around, we had mountain lions, bears and whatnot. No match. A darn shame.
and now pic won’t post rats. Picture a beautiful Blue Lynx Point Siamese here 🙂
Got it, reed!
Sorry about your loss. 🥹
Stunningly beautiful and the eyes!!!
EE, she went from rags to riches! 😂
The little girl was in dire condition when she “found us.”
Was not very pretty and so sick.
But with care and love, she blossomed.
Her eyes would speak to me …
Looks much like Jinx. I love me some Mountain Ligers!
What a loving man you are, beloved brother 😌💕
Oh, Bets! Another one I’m saving!!!
Dia Duit Betsy back to rain here in the NW. kitty brings coffee would be a great trick 🇺🇸🤠🇺🇸
As is her habit, Little ‘Tink ran to the door as I was leaving for lunch. What was funny is that she wasn’t expecting it to be as cold as it is. She poked her nose out the door. thought better of it . . . and quickly returned to her favorite warm space under the bed covers. . . She may stay there until the weather warms up a bit. Good kitty. 🙂
Yep, Bach reigns here too! And, you’re right Bets; he sounds even better at Christmas!
I heard Raphaella Smits on a local classical music station yesterday. was impressed and so decided to post her playing here . I think she’s a remarkably good player. 🙂
I feel foolish for having never listened to this great and beautiful performer. Thanks Garrison!
Listening to the great Bach Chaconne is kind of a “positive addiction” for me.
Mornin’ Garrison
Wow- you’re on fire this morning! And we are the lucky recipients. Yay! ❤️

Mornin’ Ms Pattyinporterville!
I not believe I have yet had the pleasure of making your acquaintance!? But I have seen you round these parts before, so..
Have A Wonderful Caturday – is what I hope for you!
So very nice to meet you, too, Reed. I do enjoy reading about your ‘younger years’ in the music world. Lots of interesting folks seem to have branches here.
I’ve been reading here at least the last 8 years or so. I’m what I’d call an occaisonal commenter. But I surely do enjoy reading everyone’s posts daily!
Hiya Patty! Yes, thanks. I enjoy typing about those days decades ago as I have no other place currently to yammer about them 🙂
I’ve been reading here for many years also but only began to post a cpl months ago as my “retirement” has been fully acclimated and I have more time than things to do. So I post a 100 times a day stuff most everyone knows. It helps me to:”think” LOL
Nice to make your acquaintance. This is my last place I will talk/post on the net, so it’s really nice to be among such warm, and friendly like-minded folks.
It’s so different than my last nom de guerre’s internet yammering! Have a wonderful and blessed evening, and thanks again, for saying Hi!!
Thank you, Patty
This is terrific – it takes me back to grammar school Christmas chorus – back when we were allowed, even encouraged to celebrate with music the true origin of Christmas. ❤️
I remember praying in school every day! Just an ordinary public school but prayer was a part of the day back then.
Same for me, Patty!
In elementary school, every morn before class, we prayed the Lord’s Prayer, read few Bible verses, and said Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
Teacher would ask students to come up front and lead in these.
Dreaded it when she called on me ….

What a wonderful classic MMW!
yet again 🙂
Have A Wonderful Caturday pal! and please – and the hits just keep on comin’!
Am feeling so old…loved that song…
Ha I still know every word! Something about mid sixties TV theme songs 🙂
I didn;t even have a TV back then – but friends did and I had to go to a friends house around aged ten to see “The Monkees” and “Star Trek” lol
Ah…down memory lane…I loved Granny and the way she described the swimming pool…”the CEment pond”
Loving this too –
I wanted to BE Ellie Mae when I was a child. She was Beautiful, Rich, and could kick *everybody’s* ass.
I did not turn out that way though, sadly.
A king of Prog Rock 🙂
Well that is an absolute Christmas TREAT straight into my Heart! I Love everything about that –
I’ve always loved Greg’s version of that song… and now Immediately Greg & Ian have made theirs my new favorite rendition of that song -Thank You.
Thanks Magic. Love this one…
Smoke inhalation is a horrible way to die.
Are we still the sleeping giant Admiral Yamamoto spoke of?
There are a whole slew of days that will live in infamy aside from Dec 7 1941…….
“What does it matter now?”
It matters!
This is the first December 7th without Lou Conter.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lou_Conter
He passed this year at age 102 (!) – the last survivor of the tragic battleship USS Arizona (BB-39).
So, we have crossed a threshold, and the beginning of WWII is now passing through memory’s hourglass like quicksilver.
My pop used to tell me about the Williams boys, farmers down the road, he used to plow with, who both went down with the ship.
A whole bunch of the tough, mechanically minded farmer boys went to town and signed up to go klll the bastards that done it. Pop was just a little too young, but was already plowing at his age. Mule plowing.
Much of that America is gone, but some of the spirit is still here, even in embers.
Wherever embers survive, the fire may revive.
God bless all those young Americans from so long ago. Your sacrifices are not forgotten – they are our burthen legacy
Dads son I just listened to a Mike Rowe podcast with Nicki Stratton, granddaughter of Donald Stratton who survived the attack on the Arizona. He wrote a book about the experience in 2016 I believe called “All The Gallant Men.”
That book – Donald Stratton’s – chilled to the bone. It is an excruciating read, and should be put on a “must-read” list for American high schools.
Mr. Stratton (if I recalled his rank, would say so) wrote the most gut-wrenching, accurate book of a USS Arizona/Pearl Harbor survivor, ever done.
I’m gettin’ on, and the Stratton book was the one. Be warned. Required reading for anyone joining the military. Gut check.
Granny,
Looking for “All The Gallant Men” as we speak. Thank you
thriftbooks.com has it for $14.50
And embers, kind of like Sundance cooking milk…(all at once)…
The embers must be gently tended…so as not to blow it out, rather tend it gently until the flame revives, which it may be…slowly…then all at once…
yup – you understood. Thank you, Aggiegirl….
Never forget Dec 7. The kids don’t. We must remind them.
On 9/11 I was at the local hangout, with TWO WWII vets. One of them was on an ammo ship in the USS Enterprise task force, heading back to Pearl he told me they pulled in a few days later and Arizona was still on fire. Moe’s eyes were clouded by 2001 – he was about 80. We watched the towers fall – we watched America’s Mayor Rudy.
We drank large beers, and Moe screamed – THIS IS WAR – THIS IS PEARL HARBOR – KILL THEM SONS A B********”
I never saw an anger like that. His dilated pupils went straight back to ’41.
Here’s to Moe and all the boys caught in the mess. Let there never be another global conflagration.
🍻 in tribute to Moe. 🇺🇸
Yes sir Dads son. God Bless.
And……never forget. 🙏

Rube Goldberg
(1883-1970)
American cartoonist whose cartoons inspired the Rube Goldberg contests (Pulitzer Prize 1948), dies of cancer at 87
Biography: The American cartoonist Rube Goldberg had a long and very successful career, producing thousands of drawings that were syndicated around the country.
Today he is most remembered for the Rube Goldberg machine, drawings of over-complicated devices designed to perform simple tasks featured in his cartoon series “The Inventions of Professor Lucifer G. Butts” . In fact in 1931 Goldberg became the only person to be included as an adjective in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a ‘Rube Goldberg’ was “accomplishing by complex means what seemingly could be done simply.”
Rube Goldberg contests, inspired by the cartoonist’s drawing began in the 1940s at Perdue University and were revived in 1983. The are now popular nationwide contests.

Peter Carl Goldmark
(1906-1977)
Hungarian-American engineer (developed the 33-1/3 rpm LP phonograph record format), dies in a car accident at 77
Biography: Peter Goldmark emigrated to America in 1936 and worked for CBS Laboratories developing new technology for broadcast and recording.
After leading the successful development of the 33-1/3 rpm long-playing record, he continued to innovate at CBS. An early version of color television broadcasting was not commercially successful due to incompatibility with existing TV sets, although his equipment was used for scientific work, and by NASA.
He later developed a phonograph player for automobiles that was an option in Chrysler vehicles during the 1950s. Goldmark also worked on early versions of home video recording systems, but CBS worried that it would create competition against their broadcasts.
After retiring from CBS, Goldmark researched teleconferencing and remote medical consultations for rural areas.
He was awarded the US National Medal for Science for his lifetime of work by President Carter.

Harry Morgan
(1915-2011)
American actor (December Bride; M*A*S*H, 1975-83 – “Col. Sherman Potter”; AfterMASH; Dragnet – “Bill Gannon”), dies in his sleep at 96
Biography: American TV and film actor who appeared on TV in M*A*S*H and Dragnet.
Morgan replaced Henry Blake in 1975 in series 4 of “M*A*S*H” as the medical units commanding officer Colonel Sherman T. Potter opposite original stars Alan Alda and Loretta Swit.

Chuck Yeager
(1923-2020)
American test pilot who was the 1st man to break the sound barrier, dies at 97
Biography: Chuck Yeager was a United States Air Force officer, flying ace, and test pilot. He was the first pilot to exceed the speed of sound in level flight, a feat which he achieved in October 1947.
During World War II, Yeager fought as a P-51 Mustang fighter pilot on the Western Front. He shot down 11.5 enemy planes, as well achieving the feat of an “ace in a day” after taking out five enemy aircraft in a single mission.
After his combat career, Yeager went on to work as a test pilot. He flew a number of advanced experimental airplanes, including the Bell X-1, with which he broke various speed and altitude records.
True blue American, Chuck Yeager.
Yeager, a Hillbilly that knew his talents and limitations and lived his life to the fullest. A real rounder. Right at the top echelon of stick and rudder men and a natural born mechanic to boot. Those that haven’t read https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1586034.Yeager are missing out.
And I never use the term Hillbilly in a derogatory way because quite a few of the people I have worked with have been hill jacks that have more common sense and a better developed work ethic than the majority of people I’ve met.
Not to forget “Smilin'” Bob Hoover – Chuck’s wingman on the Bell X-1 flight.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Hoover
Considered by many the best “stick and rudder” pilot who ever lived. His first pilot’s license was signed by Orville Wright.
Remember the scene in the original “Top Gun” – buzzing the tower so the boss spilled his coffee?
That was Bob Hoover – and got him busted down to the chase pilot for Yeager on the sound barrier flight.
Find Bob’s book used online – “Forever Flying” —– amazing read. Broke out of Stalag camp, escaped with Russians, crashed planes in the most insane ways- and I’m just humbled to say that I was a young pup allowed to be his automotive wingman for almost ten years – – – he didn’t run on blood – he used anti-freeze.
Check YouTube for him doing barrel rolls while pouring juice and not spilling a drop.
One time he flew a general and inverted the craft so gently that an aide pointed out to the (later) freaked-out general that the sky was the ocean and the ocean was the sky…..
I just read the wiki, and the story of Bob’s escape from the German Stalag is very brief, and sanitized. What is missing is the interlude after the escape where he and his fellow escapees were forced to join a Russian platoon for a few days. Brutalities happened because it was war. Bob found his way through a horrible situation, with a clean conscience. I hesitate to post this, and no more details – he personally told me the whole story – but I just want to remember a great, dignified, country man, whom I came to know by happenstance, who had to face war, head-on, and made it to a grand old age.
December 7th salute to the GREATEST GENERATION
“War is Hell”….attributed to William Tecumseh Sherman, Civil War General.
Yes. And Robert E. Lee knew it. Maybe the most tragic public figure in American history.
That’s why I said “top echelon”. “Tex” Johnson belongs in there too.
whoa, i’m about to hit the sack for a couple hours……\\
rah – would those be someone’s initials?
Yeager and Hoover were a great American team
Talk about Pancho and the late-night horse ride and the closed gate and Yeager’s ribs and the teamwork it took for the next morning to craft the broomstick and the X-1 launch. God bless Chuck and Bob. That was the ‘A Team’ Those were American boys.
Excellent post.

“Just, the facts Ma’am”.
My eyes are leaking….
I guess I will expand on this one a bit this year.
RCA had many plants around Indiana, mom worked in one at one time in Bloomington. (early 70’s)
I also worked in one on Sherman Dr in Indy, that location only injection molded/pressed 27″ + tube TV cases before the entire place was freight trained to Mexico(NAFTA).
(I was an outside contractor to work on their forklifts essentially 24/7/365 (on call).
I also would be called to go to another customer on the west side that just happened to be a former RCA plant but had been sold when vinyl became obsolete. I would guess that is where they made Vinyl records (it is HUGE) as the machines that spit out the vinyl pellets that are later heated & injected into the machine is still to this day 50+ years later still made there.
It has different purposes for use & probably formulation as it is now for wire insulation by a company that does (among other things) all the cross country High Voltage lines … they would have various company videos running in the employee break room, the one I found most interesting is the Helicopter repairs on active high voltage cabling.
Not sure they could pay me enough to do that tho, but I saw the safety video for it so I might be qualified now … LOL.
(there is a Holiday Inn Express commercial buried in here somewhere I think)
I’m guessing the were trolling for people to fill that position for what ever $$$$ they were offering.
(that’s a hard no thank you for me tho)
Yes! RCA and Columbia Records had a pressing plant in Terre Haute, IN! Why, IN? I will never know. All the Columbia Record Club stuff pressed there.
Remember get any 12 LP’s for a buck? ( then you were on the hook for more at full retail price ) 🙂
Also one in Santa Maria, CA that I actually went to – why? I cannot recall. Was just a kid.
I was a bit young for the LP version of Columbia house, didn’t have the means for the tape version but BOY Howdy when it got to CD’s, I don’t even remember any of the names past Columbia house tho I guess BMG was one I probably subscribed to them as well as 3 or more.
<BMG> was also a customer that I went to once, it was close to our shop, only thing I remember about the place was literally DUMPSTERS full of returned product(the side of building I was working in anyway).
The strange part about those old record ( or even CD ) clubs is they carried competing labels stuff through sub-licensing deals. I never fully looked into it as I was never a retail person but I do remember you could get stuff that was from RCA ( or whomever ) from the Columbia Club etc.
When I stop to think about things like this and looking back I think what I thought of others decades ago when THEY’D say stuff like
“Aww, ya know music’s got no melody these days – they cant sing and lemme tell you! I remember when” etc etc LOL
Now I do it 🙂
You triggered a memory out of Boynton Beach, FL….its gone now…Blackrock probably owns the land/s.
https://virtualglobetrotting.com/map/motorola-paging-plant/
Wow, he DID!? Fascinating.
I remember the transition from lacquer to vinyl and 33 1/3 Long Playing records 🙂 ( umm reading of it! hah )
Remember also the old movies where a woman would smash old 78’s on the side of a Victrola when in a scene calling for chaos – You get the picture!
LP’s didn;t break, but they sure would warp and melt!
Ha! I love the Rube Goldberg contraptions!
In my mind’s eye I still recall the one “schematic cartoon” made for the “automatic napkin” that would wipe the diners face – ( I’m sure you can imagine lol )
Living close to Purdue (middle brothers kids all went there as was their moms Alma mater), the annual Rube Goldberg competition always was covered by the news media, never got to see first hand tho. Did witness the bridge building competition @ <Rose Hulman> when brother was going there. They would hang weights off student bridge designs, one’s holding the most weight won before breaking.
Brothers frat house was opposite side of road from where the Columbia house complex was since that was mentioned upthread by Reed.
“Rube Goldberg competition”
Love it and wish I’d seen one! How cool is that. Contraption Contests!
. . . but deliver us from the Evil One.
The Jesus Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy upon me, a sinner.
I pray. A sinner, redeemed in the Love of my Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
My gratitude knows no bounds. My savior, unto thee.
Good morning, reed … I keep missing you to say thanks for your prior greetings!
What an appropriate place to catch up with you –
Because I am redeemed by the Lord Jesus Christ, too!
Every single day, I give Him my gratitude and devotion.
So thankful the Lord never gave up on me!
Blessings, reed.

Howdy Miss.Della .B!! It’s so nice to see you – and hello too!
Yes, this is THE place. It’s a warm and inviting room and so many here, bathed in the reflective light of our shared love of Christ. A refuge indeed.
To your point re “hello’s” and whatnot – It’s funny now to me. Because we will reply to one another, and yet often the next day ( or whenever ) and three new threads appear from SD – and then you may never see the person you just chatted with! until the “next hello”! I admit I forget what or where I typed something lol ( but I’m getting better ) I count how many page posts at the top of a super fast moving page, and scroll around incessantly!
Until the next thread 🙂
So thank you Della. My sister, in Christ. Praise be !
Have a wonderfully blessed evening 🙂
You tickle me, reed!
It was Thanksgiving hello.
See, I’m as lost as you, haha!

Now here’s a Christmas present for the person that has everything they ever thought they wanted.
BTW, when I played this video Alexa in the kitchen responded and played the whole tune. Had to go out and tell her “Alexa off”.
Ha! I remember those! Rah
I would love to have the one I remember best. The one that sang Al Green’s classic “Take Me To The River” – is genius lol
You called “Alexa” her?! 🙂
Sure! It has a female voice. I sometimes told by trucking GPS “Shut up Bitch” also because it had a female voice and nagged at me.
NICE 🙂
for real bird lovers.
Brilliant!!
Rearranging my priorities for the day…

You are just the person who could do it! Go for it, and don’t forget to post your pics. 😊
Just filled the feeders for our winter hummingbirds. Lots fewer of them, but still lovely.
You know that Woody our woodpecker would go to town on my knot head😉

Take care of the hummers you get.
Maybe weather or migration pattern causing lower numbers.

IMO this man is a best buddy of the father of lies.
Any ideas on why this ungodly punk is checking out?

Yep – most exclusive “club” in the world …
I’m hoping plane crash.

A coup attempt in the shadow of Oct. 7
Many fingers are pointed in the direction of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. But the evidence—and blame—says otherwise.
By Caroline B. Glick

(Dec. 6, 2024 / JNS)
This week, Channel 11’s journalist Ayala Hasson broadcast a two-part exposé on the Israel Defense Forces’ self-investigation of the massacre at the Nova music festival on Oct. 7, which took place a kilometer from the Gaza Strip. Hasson’s reports reinforced the fact that the IDF and Shin Bet top brass are to blame for Hamas’s successful day of genocide.
A total of 364 people were brutally murdered at the Nova music festival and along avenues of escape. Thirty-nine were taken hostage. The rave opened on Oct. 5 with 3,800 revelers.

Oh, both tragic…and shady. Very shady.
Hmm, what if anything might this hallowed day of December 7 share any similarities with tragic events of October 7.
Must. Not. Speak. To. That.

I posted this in the thread late last evening and in case anyone here has a hankering for some fine if not somewhat unusually pop musically Christmas music. I thought to re-post it today early in the hope more get to bookmark it. It puts a smile on my face so once again —
My old dead murder acquaintance Philip Spector made one of the best Christmas LP’s ever ( imo ).
“Santa Claus is Coming to Town” ( track five? ) is a standout and a personal favorite by The Crystals!
This is a keeper – ( at least for anyone alive mid sixties era : )
I do believe some of those cuts were used in Goodfellas, track one anyway.
Thanks reed. Just getting into the Christmas music. I don’t like to start too soon – like to savor the the specialness. ❤️
Same here ! I like the week before to be immersed in Christmas music. But I listen to a fair amount of Gospel stuff so seasonal music blends together. It’s just weird we had not gotten through T-Day and suddenly it was ON commercially.
At least President Trump and our lovely First Lady Melania have made saying MERRY CHRISTMAS cool again 🙂
Have blessed evening soazburrolady! I think I’m headed to Flagg tomorrow – so wish me luck! ( kidding ha )
Yes you did and still appreciated today! (Eeyore notwithstanding, lol).

On 12/7/1941, the Japs sneaked attacked Pearl Harbor.
The USA was still fighting them 3 years later.
The USA would be victorious in 8/1945, less than 4 years from the start of the war.
Here is a brief video of one of the casualties of that war, Loyce Deen.
A naval aviator is buried at sea in his plane / The only case in the history of the U.S. Navy.
The film shows the burial of a naval aviator at sea in his aircraft. USS Essex (CV-9) , Battle of Manila Bay, November 5, 1944.
On November 5, 1944, during the Battle of Manila Bay in World War 2, a Grumman TBF Avenger torpedo bomber of Torpedo Group VT-15 assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Essex (CV-9) came under heavy enemy 40 mm shell fire.
The Grumman pilot, Lieutenant Robert Cosgrove, survived and managed to land the badly damaged aircraft on the carrier. The radio operator, Seaman Digby Denzek, also survived, and the Aviation Machinist Mate 2nd Class Loyce Edward Deen, was killed.
The aircraft was so badly damaged that it was decided not to restore it.
Loyce Deen was buried at sea in the aircraft in which he died. He is the only known US Navy sailor to be purposely buried with his plane.
Before burial, fingerprints were taken and dog tags were cut off, as per the protocol.
Captain Carlos W. Wieber, commanding officer of the Essex, and his crew, as well as Rear Admiral Frederick C. Sherman, commander of Task Force 38.3, attended the funeral.
Thank you for posting this. Amazing to watch!
Happy “cartoons and cereal day” everyone.

peace to all who gather here, and thank you Jesus for our joy in being together.

Mornin’ Patience
Great stuff, as always. I’m temporarily (I hope) out of the picture posting business till my IT guy (Lloyd) can fix my postimage woes. But, with all you talented Treepers strutting your stuff, it’s OK. ❤️

What pray tell is personal space? My old failing kitty, Ozzie, is having balance and spacial issues, so I wrap my legs around him all night to keep him from falling off the bed. He has kitty osteoporosis in his spine – the xray looks like Swiss cheese. I think a fall would kill him (and me). Then there are the other guys wanting their space.
When I am tempted to complain, I think of how I will miss them when they are in Kitty heaven. Works every time! 😻
Here’s a different read for Treepers.
Just got thru reading a column that lays out why the Russians are not a military threat to “invade Europe.” Fascinating explanation of the histories of Russia, Ukraine, Poland, and Turkey.
Plenty of maps and photos. The author is NOT a dry analyst!
Also, mockery of the Democrats, a hilarious story about the author bought his wife a sturdy purse for Christmas at a gun shop, and a photo of Gretchen Whitmer that makes her look like a Nazi camp guard.
And the author, an investigator, is a fan of the Treehouse. He links to it on his site.

Ruby Crowned Kinglet. The Ruby streak is only on the adult male and is very hard to see. This is usually how they look to most. They seem to be more common (they are really uncommon in fall/winter/early spring as they nest in higher altitudes mountain areas) than the Golden-crowned Kinglet. I usually get 1-3 that stay all winter and hit my Suet and Bark Butter feeders. They are smaller than Chickadees.

As usual, Patience… all great pic to bring laughter to this old timer early in the am …👏👏👏

You guys are really pushing for me to get a cat or two.
I have mentioned this great movie before, but its now on Tubi for free. It is a true story of a car design genius who gets persecuted by the government (reminded me of PDJT’s persecution by the Kleptocracy in Government) because his innovative & great designs would upend the Big three automakers. Its a 80’s family friendly movie that I believe you all would enjoy. Let me know if you like it. Be well everyone
I saw that years ago! Good movie ( iirc? lol ) !
Good day everyone. Secret Santa is now ongoing in our local community and I thought you might like to watch today.
Sometimes, things may not be going so well for you but there might just be unexpected help along the way.
