Afternoon, dear Bet. I surely ‘get’ being unusually busy. I don’t multi-task well at all so this time of year is always a bit challenging. Got my lists . . . and checking them twice as the song says.
Little ‘Tink is especially attentive at this time. The other night about 3am,t I felt the familiar ‘Tink thump” when she climbed onto the bed. This time she made a beeline under the covers, cuddling into the bend in my knees. She didn’t move, even when I got up for morning coffee. She stayed under the warmth of the heavy wool throw I put down to chase the cold from the cold bedroom.
I checked on her several times and found that she was perfectly happy to remain in the warmth all day. She finally came out for supper hours and hours later.
Smart little kitty.

There is a ranch about 2 miles from us, Equine Voices Horse Rescue and Sanctuary. They began by rescuing “Premarin horses, ” that are kept continually pregnant, so as to collect their urine, from which the hormone is harvested. They now take other cases of abuse and neglect also. Thankfully, they have a ton of community support for their endeavor.

Frank Zappa
had a varied and multi-talented career as an experimental musician, singer-songwriter, composer, bandleader and filmmaker.
He released his first album as part of the band Mothers of Invention in 1965. Titled “Freak Out it was, unusually for a first album, a double-sided release. The band recorded four albums for the label Verve before Zappa set up his own record label Bizarre Records with Herb Cohen in 1968. Alice Cooper would be the only successful act to be released by the label.
Zappa went on to record a large number of albums – over 60 across his career, while also touring extensively, mainly in the US and Europe. His musical style was diverse, incorporating a wide range of styles such as Doowop, Jazz, R&B and classical modernism. His lyrics often took a satirical and humorous view of society and he was a strong advocate for the freedom of speech. In 1985 he testified before a Senate Committee against the Parents Music Resource Center, that advocated the banning of lyrics with sexual or satanic content.
Zappa died at just 52 of prostate cancer in 1993. He was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and awarded Grammy for Lifetime Achievement in 1997.

I got to spend time in the studio with him – and hearing some great stories.
I got my first co-production credit on another LP he cut two cuts ( one sampled by the Beastie Boys on “License To Ill” 🙂

and I started Stariving Students Moving Co and that was our first office and my first business. I was sixteen. Company when “National” with franchises and we allied with “National Van Lines” for interstate carries.
I did’nt last long as I started in the music biz by age 18 or so.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

As I entered each one of these doors that opened I found fun. Each new adventure made me stretch and learn things I never expected to learn.
Looking back it all makes sense – but wow – living was full of new beginnings.

and lastly a black.
My best memory of Brandy (the chocolate) … We lived in the part of Wisconsin where the land turns blue with little lakes.
Doc has the day off. He’s standing in the middle of the road, fishing rod in one hand, rifle on the other arm. He is spinning around with tears (not really) trying to decide – do I go fishing today or hunting.
Brandy is right there with him. You can almost hear her say – hey, no matter what you choose, i’m with you.

We’ve had many labs/lab mixes. Great for our abode with old farts (like me!), cats, other dogs and g-kids (now, also greats.)
Our only chocolate, Clarence Thomas, was given to us, when, for whatever reason those who had bought him from a breeder – returned him. A gift from God, truly. I’ll find a pic when I can.
We had recently married. Both of us had children. Mine were actually grown and on their own. Clarence essentially became our”first born.” I’m trying to describe him and tearing up. He literally never needed any “training.” He just lived to please. And, though he was without a doubt the alpha to our other dogs, he would amazingly show empathy toward them and allow them to shine. Hard to believe. I know. I damn near jumped in with him when he left us.
You’ve painted such a perfect picture of Doc hunting/fishing with Brandy. I am drinking it in!
Today is chock full of beautiful mental cocktails.

We’re crazy about them, though, we may have temporarily forgotten what life with younger pups is like!
They had been abandoned in a smaller town near us – eventually rescued and put up for adoption. This is what we use to throw their ball now. (fulltime). Our shoulders are shot!
There’s a plastic toy that shoots nerfs and the dogs chase them!??
That’s too cool. I want some! dogs and nerf squirt umm, projectile enablers 🙂
alas I am an indentured cat feeding door opener lol.
Actually, though this is made by Nerf, it shoots tennis balls. Invaluable!

i just observed a beautiful thing .. i’m sitting in a parking lot, and a man and woman come out of a store.. there’s a curb, he takes her hand as she steps off it , he walks w/her to the passenger side, opens her door for her …. ♥️
i just have to step outside my car to tell him what a gentleman he is, and how awesome that was to witness..
and he smiles and says …. “well, i love her “

It is with great sadness that I report that my elder cat C.J. has today crossed over the rainbow bridge and is now chasing golden mice in Kitty heaven. She was 16 years old. She was a good kitty, and in a way it’s a relief because she was struggling the last week or so with respiratory problems which at the end overwhelmed her. I’m going to miss my little brat and I’m sure my younger cat Libby will too, but we have each other to help us through this.
So sorry jeff … these are for sure the hardest and saddest days of being a pet owner 🙁

Read a couple of articles on South Korea. Clear as mud. Is Pres. Yeol a good guy or a bad guy. Was this instigated by N. Korea and China? Don’t know why he called martial law – something about protesters are North Korean sympathizers.
