I have a good friend who was stuck on the other side of a creek with a collapsed bridge and Duke Energy said it would be 2 months at least before she got electricity. Well the people on that road got together and they propped up that bridge and Duke Energy still said they wouldn’t come along so they worked on it some more and lo and behold some power company probably from Canada who was down here helping out powered right across that bridge and she got her power back after 3 weeks not two months.
I did NOT know this – Amish bussed into North Carolina to help build microhomes after the hurricane hit there.
I happened to learn today that following Hurrican Helene slamming into North Carolina and hanging there and resulting in massive flooding, that the Amish community were bussed in weekly to help build microhomes to help provide shelter for people in Shennanoa, North Carolina.
As I did some searches for this to validate it, I noticed NOBODY was reporting this in the mainstream media. In fact, the only places I COULD find stories about it all sounded exactly the same and were found on alternative media sites.
I was about to chalk this up to being a feel-good story, when I found the story also mentioned on the web site of a commercial company that sells microhomes.
This is WONDERFUL! And just a magnificent example again of people helping other people in their times of need.

I keep relaying to my husband what is happening on the ground there. Taking away the tiny homes that the Amish built, taking the campers that have been donated. I just can’t. Hopefully day one President Trump does an executive order that grants these people the rights to their land, extra money, etc. But I cannot imagine how they are going to survive until then. May God blanket them in his care, provide and help them.
I have been searching for a link to an organiztion that would steer people into homes out of state until they can get on their feet. I have a home that just two of us are in. I have a complete attic that can be finished. I have land enough that 2 campers could be put on, we’d have to make arrangements for the sewer somehow, water would not be a problem.
I’d host an entire family right in my home.

If you have a septic tank, not that complicated to set it up so the holding tanks of the trailer/rv can be dumped into your septic.

Some trailer parks, most all State and National parks, truck stops, etc. have em, small fee involved.

The Pew Research Center survey found 53% of Americans “somewhat” or “strongly” approve of the president-elect’s agenda, while 46% disapprove.
Support for Trump’s second-term plans broke along party lines, with 88% of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents approving and 82% of Democrats and Democratic leaners disapproving.
Nearly 60% of respondents indicated they were confident in the 78-year-old president-elect’s ability to make good decisions about economic policy, the survey found.
Majorities also expressed confidence in Trump when it comes to issues related to law enforcement and criminal justice (54%), immigration (53%) and foreign policy (53%).

Fearing deportation, some Haitian migrants leaving Springfield, Ohio
Moise, like most fellow Haitians in Springfield, is here legally through Temporary Protected Status, which Trump has vowed to end. The TPS program allows federal officials to grant deportation relief and work authorization to migrants from countries beset by war, environmental disaster or another “extraordinary” crisis.
Moise says she knows about 10 friends and neighbors who have recently left Springfield, along with several restaurant employees.
She said she also learned while in Springfield that her mother was fatally shot at their family’s business in Haiti.

Bessent has been a major fundraiser and donor for Donald Trump. He was an economic advisor for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. In November 2024, President-elect Trump named Bessent his nominee for Secretary of the Treasury.
