Hi’ya, dear Bet. Little ‘Tink went walkabout tonight. She had a neighbor’s tabby kitty as a compatriot . . . they both showed up at our respective doors at about the same time. They’ve done this before.
Both are pretty street-wise kitties so the anxiety largely stems from their respective mom and dad. While we reside in a pretty safe neighborhood, it was still with some relief that they showed up at the appropriate front doors. Good kitties!
Instead of tea, I’m settling in with some gentle sippin’ whisky which let’s me sleep like baby tonight. (Happily, I have a slow acting metabolism so light imbibing at night before bedtime is easily accommodated.)
Since tonight’s going to be a bit colder, I’ll also most likely have a kitty companion curled up on my shoulder tonight. She’ll, of course, be most welcome. Tale care dear friend. And sleep well. 🙂
They just know where they’re going, don’t they, dear friend 😸 As I mentioned the other day, after a long spell with no moggies, four have suddenly been making appearances…a sweet ginger female (I’m certain), a tuxedoed black and white with white spats (he’s ever so proper, just sits with his two front paws together), a solid black one who has been injured at some point but seems to be better, and a multi coloured scrapper who makes guttural noises at the solid black whom simply sits there in peaceful silence.
That’s the line up. I think two of the four belong to someone(s), but the other two?? I have pushed a quilt under couch in the garage where the solid black sleeps; and have arranged other accommodations for whoever. They are all fed of course…
So you’re “Faulkner-ing” once more…good! I hope you get a good night’s rest and stay warm. We’re colder as well, but it is a welcome change from the insufferable year and expensive air con. Rah has indicated our winter will be milder than some. Hope he’s right.

Sippin’ within the Faulkner custom— more appropriately within the larger Appalachian cultural context, has it’s own distinct esthetic. Some whiskeys are uniquely suited for proper ‘sippin’ while others are not.

Properly handled, you’ll soon find yourself enjoying the experience in a decidedly Faulkner style moment.
The ‘Shine in my father’s experience was often a bit rough. Sippin’ allowed one to become more accustomed to the overall taste without the typical ‘Shine burn. Small amounts, gently taken, made for a good evening. Faulkner would not only understand . . . he’d approve, I think.
I now have a wondrous if not vicarious glow after reading of your ‘shine 🙂

But it is way more than a pity. Because there comes a bittersweet escape for a small while, a return to those days known by people from those times, made real once more in reading about them through the pens of gifted authors who knew how to turn a story. No price can be put on that…or the memories which come with them.

The next 3 weeks will be well below normal in the eastern US including the Carolinas and we got people living in tents with no heat, running water etc 8 weeks after the event. The number one priority of this administration should be to rectify this now rather than starting WW3
Snowed Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon at my central Indiana home. Accumulation more than 3″. It was beautiful!
Can’t remember the last time we had such a snow so early in the season.
By Midnight Thursday it was starting to melt. It rained Friday morning. Snow gone by Friday afternoon.
Geisha and Buckley loved it and were playing in the snow Thursday during the day. Asked to go out more than usual. I took the dogs out Friday morning when it was just misting and there was still snow covering a good bit of the ground. When I took them out last evening after dinner they looked confused because the snow had magically all disappeared. I could almost hear them thinking “This isn’t right! Where did it go Dad? Bring it back!”

Oh boy do kitties destroy Christmas decorations, trees, plants, etc. We decorate very sparsely these days, plus……..so many Christmas plants are deadly to kitties (all my favorites.) And, they chew on light strings – never a dull moment! We started decorating a tree Outside the dining room picture window – not quite the same, but safer. 🎄
Ok, Corny, I just gotta tell this.
Once upon a time in the early 80’s my Mamaw on Mom’s side came to stay with us a bit before Christmas.
She and Mom decided to pop some popcorn and string it on the tree.
It looked good on that tree!

about the eating thing – i was always taught that it is a mark of respect to the animal who died to use every conceivable bit of the carcass for food, clothing, dog chews, teaching tools, etc., etc., etc.

i.e.: the animal provided for many others and thus did not die in vain.
that might be a touch New England Puritan for some (😆),
but if you like head cheese or beef tongue, it’s a comforting thought.

Good morning dear. Hope this finds you well. Gonna be lazy today. Just helping Sherry by bringing in the totes of winter clothing and bed cloths and stuff. Out comes the winter coats, overalls, boots, and in goes the short sleeved shirts, shorts, summer bed cloths,etc. Then I carry the totes back out to the garage.

We had fireplaces in our two living areas and dining room in Wales. On cold and sometimes snowy Christmas mornings we woukd set coal fires in each one where normally we’d have only one in our tiny morning room. I took such great pleasure in decorating the whole of our Victorian rural home. And on Christmas Eve, we’d watch Carols and Lessons from Kings, the best part of the Christmas season.
When we returned to Texas it was with gratitude that we discovered we could see that sublime service on Britbox.
Until last year when for obvious reasons the BBC decided such a broadcast would offend certain parts of their growing population. I don’t have to explain further…
We are by ourselves each Christmas now, and I do not decorate.
So I am grateful for beautiful photos like this one, tex, as they give rise to warm memories of Christmases past for us. I know there are those who say “it’s too early”… not for me it isn’t. Never for me…

I don’t know if anyone here is familiar with Andrew Tate, a piece of human excrement that preys on people for money. A product of an undisciplined generation. He has created a following that now engulfs our young and their morals have been compromised.
He could not have done this without “only fans” and other sites like this. They glamorized all sorts of perverse acts for money. Free speech is not represented in “only fans” it’s a twisted (evil) version of our rights. Just like worship of Lucifer paired with Christianity as a form of religious worship.
The constitution only works in a moral society.
I know girls who have engaged in “only fans” and they are not able to make decisions based in morals or character. They see money and lose all chastity for a lie. Just one more characteristic of abortion, feminism lies. Moms promote this behavior in many ways and the child is paying the price. Boys have no father they have fathers, if lucky. Discipline is gone.
I hate tattoos, pagans mark their bodies to give the message “I am a pagan” it’s in the Bible “do not mark your bodies it is the temple of the lord.” And I see young women all marked up because they hate who they are. Abused and left to coup with a society that has no regard for their well being. Men and boys never think about the impact those tattoos will have on their future and society.
All this is so simple to reverse, all of it. Read the Bible, teach people the truth and then allow them to make decisions, if not we get what we see. It’s a manual!
