Godly is not a word we can use of many in government that profess to be Christian or Catholic. It seems they have never considered Jesus warning, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord’, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount and all his teaching recorded in the four gospels clearly spells out the will of God. It does not mean adapting the commandments to fit modern fads. Russ Vought has made clear statements about where he stands, statements that I have not heard from most other politicians. It is easy to use a Christian or Catholic label but an entirely different matter to be a faithful follower of Christ.
