Perhaps the most telling line in the announcement is the last one. “We will send education BACK TO THE STATES, and Linda will spearhead that effort.”
President Trump has announced the nomination of Linda McMahon to be the next Secretary of Education. Likely with the intention to eliminate the federal Dept of Education.

Eliminate, with prejudice. Thank you!
Trump said he wants to strip the entire department.
“We’ll have one person plus a secretary, and all the person has to do is, ‘Are you teaching English? Are you teaching arithmetic? What are you doing? Reading, writing and arithmetic, and are you not teaching woke?’ Not teaching woke is a very big factor, but we’ll have a very small staff,” Trump said on the campaign trail last month.
Mlee, as a former educator, I have learned that the problems begin with how teachers are prepared in the first place. I have found that it doesn’t matter if your child is in a private or public school, the teacher’s ability to TEACH is very important. Also, who runs the school? My grandson goes to a private school and the principal is a social butterfly who loves to gossip. Any problem must be addressed only to the teacher and said principal only gets involved when??? well, I’m not sure when. if ever.
I have done hundreds of teacher evaluations in the classroom. I was once involved with a public school firing of a science teacher…black principal and black teacher. I am not black but I did find the teacher to not be fully competent.
Next, is the curriculum and the textbooks, if they still use them. I remember when I first learned that textbooks were tainted, especially in social studies and math. Common Core was a scam and it came in under Obama. Need i say more?
Next, the on line- learning with Schoology is a problem for me. It’s a Bill Gates Education Management system and there is very little interaction between the teacher and the students. It’s all on computer, every class, every day. Most of the public knows very little about how this works. Students are expected to use computers and yet, they haven’t learned to use a keyboard correctly. Yep, Gates captured your kids years ago when computer labs were used in Title I schools and MSNBC was the first thing they read daily. I suspect that is still the case and with Schoology who knows what is being said thru the headphones.
I retired in 2013 after 42 years. I substituted off and on for about five years.
I started teaching when I was 20 and became a school administrator when I was 40 years old. I have worked middle and high school for most of that time. It is all a hot mess.
THIS!!! I was in college when they instituted departments of education and teachers became ‘education majors’ – learning theories of education – rather than, for example, majoring English or Math or Chemistry to teach those subjects.
Gradually, the standards were lowered to make every student successful and equal – a precursor to DEI.
Then they The New Math, followed by Common Core Curriculum (Romney’s leftist education concoction as Governor of Massachusetts – his governorship was the lab study for Øbama’s tenure in office) – illogical, torturous, working against the mind’s intuition – Common Core did serious harm to Massachusetts kids then as well as on a national level under Øbama. There were actual suicides of young people.
This is not to mention the worst of all – actual sexual predation – propagandizing sexual agendas and theories on our children – grooming, recruiting them into the homo/bi/etc. lifestyle – pushing them to become transgender and establishing gender clinics to actually mutilate them for life!
The *&^%$#@! DEA can’t be demolished too soon!
You forgot new math. Which has nothing to do with math which is why no one under the age of 40 knows how to add and subtract or figure out how to give you change in a grocery store
The “new math” left the tracks when it was given to the “math” teacher who couldn’t add or subtract. This teacher set up the play grocery store and the children had fun but never added or subtracted or multiplied. Fun and games minus math doesn’t work.
At the upper levels “new ways” to work the math problems meant that parents were unable to help their 8th grader with homework. The old way was “wrong”. Was this separation between parent and child deliberate?
And many teachers wanted to keep math textbooks that were more traditional, but supervisors who had been wined and dined by publishing companies wanted the progressive textbooks with the new ways.
Totally agree.
Knowledge of Subject content is more important than pedagogy (HOW one teaches the material.)
And much of what teachers learn about HOW to teach is trial and error… but having an experienced active teacher mentor/guide/advise/demonstrate is useful.
Let me observe a good teacher and I can actually SEE what works and what doesn’t.
Education Schools are a joke, but they do bring revenues to the colleges that house them.
And “Education Majors” are from my experience the weakest minded adults I’ve ever talked to.
They don’t know much about anything.
A HS dropout gets better training from the school of hard knocks.
I also think one is either called to the profession or not. Brilliant people can be bumbling idiots inside the classroom. If you can’t engage students, can’t tell a story, can’t make kids laugh, can’t do the Math (or whatever subject you are supposed to be teaching) please get a different job. You are not teacher material.
Most people who are teachers know a good teacher when they see one. The problem in a lot of situations (not all) is that the Administrators are themselves failed teachers. If you can’t teach well, you have no business “managing” other teachers.
Gosh the whole thing boils my blood.
I too am retired after 40 years, Math, international, private, single gender (girls) and a few years in the hardened South Bronx. I was the same teacher in all locales, and expected the same quality.
Grading is a big problem if it doesn’t accurately measure student product. And since the Dr Spock style reforms when we started giving out “participation” trophies, the whole thing has gotten worse.
Your last paragraph is critical. Feeling hopeless here in Oregon . . . Conservatives have no voice here. Judicial watch just sued state over most corrupt voter rolls in nation. We need Trump’s help to clean up these blue states.
Not to mention the endless accommodations for every diagnosis under the sun, from esl to adhd and autism. Some of these kids take up so much class time that the others sit there, bored.
It seems that young parents are doing a worse and worse job of preparing their kids for the real world. Too much screen time.
Well, you outed yourself when you said you were a school administrator, which means, you were part of the upper echelon problem. Every teacher I ever knew who went into administration became part of the problem. So at 40, that means you were in administration longer than you actually taught which is the way of most who try to get out of a classroom.
I taught 32 years and retired 8 years ago. I still have relatives in the system. I don’t know where you are but the idea that students are expected to use computers and computer labs? Yes. But to comment little interaction between students and teachers? That is all I did. No computers unless a project was assigned and a computer lab was an in school necessity because some kids didn’t have at home access.
Also, I have no idea how you became a teacher at 20. I was graduated HS at 17 and four years of college at 21. What you are talking is almost an impossibility. Furthermore, very few times did I ever have a colleague complain about a textbook in social studies and never anyone in math. Common core went out as fast as it came in. And again, if you were an administrator, why didn’t you do anything to help what you used to be and went to college for……………….a teacher.
And since you were a school administrator, you should tell everyone what the main problem was and that is zero discipline. I don’t gave a damn if you are the greatest teacher, if you don’t have any backing when a kid tells you to F^%k off. Then you got a problem. That was the main issue in education that no one wants to talk about. Forget blaming teachers, books etc. It is not backing from week spined principals and vice-principals whose hands were tied for trying to discipline Becky and Johnny.
Yes discipline almost none. A former sub that knows and was backed for a time but mainly post Covid was not. Unruly and direct f bombs to teacher common in my days. Maybe 1/3 months in a votech setting mostly. To put the phones away and do assigned work and come back from break and engage in the studies. I always told students choices and outcomes and this (me and them) is NOT a negotiation. You have your assignment and any questions I will assist if you have done all you have, listened to the lecture I may have given and done the prerequisite work.
Oh my, in my previous post above I forgot the discipline thing. Goodness.
In my South Bronx teaching experience, after a couple of years the Dept Head approached me and said “Rick you are serious about teaching Math. It’s refreshing to see. How about next year you and I pilot a program for incoming 9th graders. 2 class periods a day, back to back, of Math. No chemistry. The chemistry teacher is all on board with this. He flunks 90% of 9th graders cause they can’t do percentages, fractions, or scientific notation. ”
“OK” I replied. And so next Fall she and I worked with 44 students. (22 per class) 2 periods of Math every day.
2 weeks into the adventure, a young boy in my class (Caesar) was routinely acting up, disrupting, joking, clearly out of his comfort zone.
I asked him into the hallway in between classes and we had a heart-to-heart chat wherem he pledged to behave and join the class. One hoped it was sincere. It was not.
A few days later he and I had another chat in the hall, this time I said “No more warnings. This is your last chance. Get in line.”
“Oh no problem Mr. S I get it. I’ll fly straight now on.”
Again I thought he was sincere. Maybe he was.
But a week later he again lost his self control, and this time as we met in the hallway in between classes I said “That’s it Caesar. You’re gone. I’m done. Don’t come to my classroom again.”
“What?” he was blindsided I guess.
“Don’t come to my classroom again. Obviously you don’t want to be here. I really don’t care. Go smoke pot with you homies on the street corner. Wander the Halls for 90 minutes. I don’t give a rip what you do… Just don’t come to my classroom again.”
AND THAT WAS THAT.
He never showed up again. The other 21 students were relieved AND forewarned. In China they have a saying….Kill the chicken and teach the Monkey.
Later that year, New York State then (maybe still) has a special program of Regent’s Exams, designed to to prove a students has done serious academic work. There are 3 years of Exams, and this 1st year was historically a joke at this public HS. However, our pilot program was successful. 41 if 43 students passed the Exams that June. The success ratio was unheard of in decades.
These days I could never get away with kicking Caesar out of my classroom as I did back then.
Lawyers, principals, single Moms, woke DE grifters would be screaming racism and other BS.
But back then, I saved 21 students by kicking him out.
And I think it’s what the majority of reasonable adults would support if they had any say in such matters today.
Yup thx for this. I didn’t know most of this. I was a sub for about 5 years myself juniors/seniors high school votech. Poor achievement if any from most.
AFEUDA!!
.
“Ministry of Education. Indoctrination. OUT!”
extreme prejudice.
And eliminate the word “like” is a disease and disgusting and everywhere. End of rant.
Nice!
Deconstruction of the Department of Education begins 1/21/25.
Watch a mass exodus start soon.
I was just going to search out this meme from election week. Thank u
Welcome, MVM 😎👍🏻
They can’t even hear where they’re saying in their echo chamber.
She forgot to add no constructive or logical thinking.
She is definite proof of that🤦♀️🤦♀️🤷♀️
🤣🤣
I don’t think she forgot to add that.
I don’t think she’s ever heard of either!
Yep
Sombody point out to her, that back before they created the Dept of Ed,…the opposite was true. Well they didn’t have AI then, but they had middle schoolers reading, high schoolers writing essays, and yes even college students were doing better.
The quality of education, and the output of the education system has been going down for 60 years, but accellerated with the formation of the Dept of Ed.
This may be cruel, but I’ll say it: I hope Jimmy Carter lives long enough to see his creation—the Dept of Education—completely dismantled.
He just turned 100, so Trump and Linda has to work fast….
Love it. I hadn’t thought of that.
Have
One l…You know, since you’re making a grammar or spelling comment…
My mother, born in 1922, had only a high school education in a rural school. She could read and absorb literature and statistical information. She could do math problems in a flash. She was an excellent writer.
Education was both valued and expected in her day.
Let’s get back to respecting the students who excel because of their individual effort. Let’s get back to teachers who want to impart the love of learning.
Many good teachers in today’s schools are prevented from actually teaching. For example, the teacher is conversing with students about history. Students are interested. Buzzer rings! Only 12 minutes are allowed on that topic. Teacher has to stop the discussion and move to the next lesson. Lesson plan created by someone in an office far away has decided that 12 minutes is what can be allowed. If the teacher does not follow this exact plan, he or she can be fired. Teachers are turned into AI creatures instead of thinking humans by some well-paid nut in some big building.
Courtesy of CARTER.
Poor Mony is a great example of the products “education” puts out. Clueless.
Require 100% of employees to come back to DOE buildings 5 days a week, 8 hours a day.
Vivek suggests up to 20% may resign.
For only one week.
To clean out their desks and prep the building for demolition.
And begin the search for a real job that might just add value to the country instead of ruination..
Many of the rest will likely resign if you move their jobs and offices hundreds of miles away to other states and away from the big cities in particular.
Then, there’s still the reduction in force that could be done.
What part of “Likely with the intention to eliminate the federal Department of Education” by Sundance;
AND,
“We will send education BACK TO THE STATES, and Linda will spearhead that effort” by Trump,
Did you not understand?
Deconstruction just as I stated.
Think he/she was referring to working remotely. Mandate office attendance and many will quit. No need to fire. No lawsuits. No lengthy severance.
Good point.
Many probably have papers in to transfer to
another Federal Agency. Or will be grabbing
forms to fill out over the weekend.
Bingo.
Cut BK a break, just his typical not “looking before he leaps” response.
Projection by the both of you. I read the article and cited bases on that.
Just your typical attempt to discredit which failed AGAIN.
Try harder
Exactly. These tools, requiring them to show uo, moving depts out of DC, and more, can and will be used for many Depts, but for Ed,…just shut it down.
There is no need to play games, or go for incremental progress.
Shut it down, and thank you for your service, heres your severance package.
Can we mandate that any federal employee who wants his/her pension has to spend a minimum of 3 years of their career in Fairbanks, Alaska? And in Fairbanks, we can set up administrative outposts of the agencies that survive cuts from Elon and Vivek.
I’d also be in favor of putting FBI HQ <or insert your least favorite gov’t agency here> in Fairbanks, AK (or at least Anchorage), with a certain # of years having to be spent as a resident there to get a promotion or receive a pension.
A girl can dream……
No, you can’t play whimsical games w pensions.
But they don’t have ‘pensions’ anymore. They are 403ks.
Any ‘American’ would know that. 👀
Actually the system for the last 30+ years in Feds is called FERS. I decided to call it loffers..low option federal employee retirement system.. some Feds were so worthless you put them on the fire and it goes out…..deadwood.
What have you got against Alaska? <g>
Better still. McMurdo station, Antarctica. They do ‘great work’ there year round
Why any severance? Why not just unused vacation, and to be nice, unused sick pay?
Well, Perot Conservative 6, you are part of the problem. Most every company back in the 50s had a retirement plan.
Then, the money handlers figured that employers didn’t need the burden and along came 401Ks. They works for some people but not all. But the money saved is in the BIG BANK in the sky.
Have you ever work up and realized that your 401K plan collapsed overnight? Has it ever fully recovered?
I read the other day that we don’t really know what is going to happen with Medicare. Seems that Biden and Harris have raided the income generated by the base and used it to fund illegals and fund expenditures to Ukraine, etc.
Now, Medicare premiums are going to go up but as with many government run funds, they don’t know how much yet. Most people know that we have an annual deductible that runs around $200 per person, but few people know that a fee is deducted monthly from each of our Social Security checks to also pay for or into the program. All we can do is wait and see if the fund is still solvent. All I know is that there are fewer ads on TV screaming about enrolling in Medicare, although, it seems that the phone calls have become the medium to hound people about Medicare. ???
Thank the Romneys of the world and Carl Ikahn. As far as insurance ups, it’s off the charts. My monthly went from $480 mo, for two, to $615. Add in yearly max catastrophic of like 12k.
I read more than Sir Sundance and listen to more than President Trump.
Vivek mentioned that we may be on the hook for severance – 12 or 18 months, per employee – as part of the shutdown. Unclear if this was per contract, or for PR purposes.
Hence, getting 10% to 20% to resign is a cost savings.
Please save your condescension for someone else.
My upvote for the smackdown. 👍
The only ones smacked are him and you, again! 😉
The business of primary and secondary education is looked at by many as just a person pushing a pencil on a daily basis. If educators are doing their jobs, they are exhausted by the end of a school day or week.
You sound like someone who doesn’t see that the value of education done right, makes our country stronger and benefits all. Uneducated people are a drain on society. Do you have children? Do you resent spending one red penny of your money on education of the masses? I have heard it all and know that I don’t want my neighbor or their children to be uneducated.
Dismantling the Federal Dept of Education returns the responsibility of education to the states where it belongs. No one will go uneducated…unless the state dept of ed is run by a bunch of grifters. In which case the state will deal with them.
Also the free market and the ability of people and businesses to move about the country will cause many businesses to locate to states where education is taken seriously.
Getting the fedgov out of the daily lives of families works better for everyone. Having each state determine their own way of doing things makes them more accountable to the people than to fedgov bureaucrats with unwanted ideologies.
Still making things up?
Who added the “6” to my handle?? WTF???
There are hundreds of students being “home schooled.” That is one answer but it is risky. Not all parents are schooled equally. Get my drift….
4,400 employees and $68 billion budget
I think it began years ago. If you check out the agencies mentioned as accolades in the announcement, it would seem that many people have been working on hitting the ground running for a long time. I had not heard of the America First Policy Institute nor the America First Works. But these are some stellar groups of people working behind the scenes.
Yes her and her office total of about 10. It’s funny we just had a bond issue defeated and our students here can’t read, write or do math at grade level with 60% fail…but our school system is top rated. Ya.. I’m fighting as a taxpayer for paying this crap. Add in our district decided hey add in a slush fund of $1m/year for parents to supplement them to pay for students they can’t or won’t pay extra activity fees..
In order to teach math, reading, and writing, you have to have discipline in the classroom. In order to have discipline, you have to have some kind of consequences for students if they are out of line. The idiotic thing is that teachers are often not even allowed to remove disruptive students from the classroom. Those children who are disruptive have no consequences. They don’t learn and it keeps other children from learning. When one has 5 or 6 of these children in a class (on top of the dopers who sleep through classes) it is more than most teachers can handle – and then people don’t want to be teachers. There is always a shortage and school systems have to fill in with warm bodies to babysit.
The teacher should know how to read, write, add and subtract before trying to teach someone else.
Education majors are worthless-ask Dr. Jill. Teachers should be English, Math, History, Science majors etc.- they should have mastered their subject so they can teach it.
In grades 5-8 we had to bend over and touch our toes well the teacher took a paddle to our bottoms. We had order in the classroom and did what the teacher said. We also had homework.
Yes I was a sub and got fired for just this. Sending an extremely disruptive student to the front office to enforce no phones and discipline. Instagram vids were more important than doing assigned class work. Oh they were students studying to be medical assistants.. and were to write instructions for someone to use crutches after an injury or procedure. Not that important to them. The medical nurse whom license was in jeopardy due to the low pass rate of students for state licensing had to resign to keep her license in tact. ya…
Indeed, the Los Angeles USD deals brilliantly with discipline problems in High School: bureaucrats eliminated the Dean’s office where teachers use to sent the disruptive students out of the classroom LOL!
I know of one little kid in a kindergarten class in San Antonio where there are 34 kids and one teacher without an aide or assistant. That is pretty sad.
In 1953, my first grade class had 70 children taught by one nun in a neighborhood Catholic school. Everybody behaved; we were well taught . A lot depends on your home life, your parents…
Most classroom’s in my State 6% do not know English. The teachers spend a majority of their time with these students because their grades impact the entires schools GPA and it cannot fall below a certain percent. The American students get no education or the above average students help the other kids. In my opinion, homeschooling is the only answer.
I live in a blue State and my grandchildren will never go to a public school with these deranged rainbow hair teachers in charge.
Good!
Clean house Linda McMahon!
Trump wrestled with this decision for a few days 🙂
One sees what you did there. And that’s one more than the number of large urban public school graduates who can read/write above grade level.
My grandson could not read and we sent him to a special school for kids with dyslexia. He was reading at the end of the school year with three months spent out of school due to COVID. The school set us all up with a great computer connected classroom and miracles happened for my grandson. Too bad his medical condition due to doctor incompetence didn’t work as well.
WrestleMama Elegy would would break the charts.
Someone who is not trying to make expanding the Department of Education her crowning achievement but rather to best serve the education interests of the generation that is to inherit this nation and the responsibility of maintaining this nation and keeping it strong; if devolving the responsibility back to the individual states will strengthen those education interests, to serve that generation and the next, so be it; the Department of Education should not exist solely for the benefit of those who run it.
While it is an overall, noble intention…this part of the deep swamp is also treacherous and the potential for abuse is monumental, especially in states like IL.
My fear is it will morph into 50+ mini fiefdoms that will cause another increase in state and local taxes.
Easier to fix at state level than fed
You can’t fix a problem if you don’t know what the problem is.
Example:
We know kids can’t read or write. Why is that the case?
Where was public education being “directed” from before the creation of the federal – level Department of Education?
Local school boards!
Only if she promises to get rid of the teachers union. (No offense to teachers here.)
Excellent point. Since moving to Oregon I can see large reason educators vote liberal. Our state keeps bailing out the teacher pension plans. And you would not believe how lucrative those plans are. Unbelievable.
The D.O.E. Royal Tumble coming 1/21/25
What’s ya gonna do brothaaa!!!
A Conservative friend had a similar observation: Trump’s proposed cabinet is VERY White.
Yes, Dr. Thomas Sowell said send education back to the states.
.
It’s not only white men in trump cabinet
Ben Carson surgeon general, is African am, Vivek ram appointed for DOGE is Indian American Hindu, Marco Rubio is Hispanic
And there are women Stefanik for UN, McMahon for education, gabbard is Hindu from American Samoa
. These appointments are based on merit they are not diversity hires.
And if we can expect Kash Patel and Byron Donalds to be in the mix they are not white
We’ll see. Please, more than one.
Although I gave you a 👍 for your well – deserved smackdown of BK upthread, please take your diversity concerns over to a left -wing site.
It’s not 1950. I thought President Trump had a big tent? Think about mid terms – don’t arm your opponent.
“Please, more than one”.
Please, only more extremely competent and mission loyal ones.
Since this is truly our LAST CHANCE to defeat the NWO Death Cult that’s captured our country hopefully PDJT will reject individuality erasing biological superficialities when choosing his elite team of warriors to fight by his side when he returns to The Belly of the Beast, DC, for battles that will determine Americas fate.
I haven’t heard it said that Ben Carson is Surgeon General. Is that true?
So far just a rumor but it would be great.
The alternative appears to be Lapado from Florida and he is good as well, if Dr. Carson can’t accept due to health concerns.
I would be happy with either. Lapado didn’t buy the covid scam issues (vaccine work, masks work, etc.).
“Appears to be”
In some Media Circles, perhaps. In many others, definitely not.
Appearances are frequently deceiving, by design, especially during this frenzied part of the PsyWar.
I’m well aware, Cozette! That’s why I check TruthSocial now every day for whatever formal announcement(s) PDJT may make.
I just saw one, in fact. Matt Whitaker for US Ambassador to NATO.
Until I see a TS post from PDJT, I never consider any of these positions filled…
_____
By the way, correction to what I said above. It’s Ladapo, not Lapado.
Why do you think Dr Carson has “health concerns?”
No its NOT true. Dr Carson just publicly said he will be 100% backing PDJT but he will NOT be doing it as part of PDJTs administration.
Fwiw Surgeon General is one of the positions RFK Jrs MAHA Team will be picking since the SG is part of the MAHA Mission although of course the pick will be announced by PDJT
When did Dr Carson say he won’t be a part of President Trump’s administration?
No. Dr Carson responded via a tweet that he will NOT be Surgeon General.
Ben Carson is not part of the cabinet.
Yet. Regarding health concerns expressed here, Carson recently said he HAS a position in the admin. he would LIKE, and will be meeting with PDJT soon to discuss it.
Didn’t sound like a man begging off serving due to ill health.
I thought Elon was African American 🤔
It’s looking very 1950s. Vivek and Dr. Carson not in the cabinet.
Are you implying there aren’t qualified Conservative African Americans?
Are you implying that there is a “diversity” quota?
Good grief… 🙄
What? If you have been following him the last several days, you would he has been constantly promoting a race baiting theme in an attempt to distract, divert and instigate a division on race discord.
It’s has been so obvious that Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and Ronny Milsap would see it.
Pretending not know is not a good look.
Try harder.
Just common sense, and an appreciation for the big tent, and mid terms.
If Dr. Carson and Harris Faulkner were already on board, it wouldn’t look so obvious.
BK trying to be clever.
There used to be a Perot Conservative on CTH. I don’t think that is you, 6, is it? How long have you been here on the branches? You seem to have a disproportionate share of criticisms of current selections.
What is your ideal, if you had your druthers?
Good eye, CountryDoc.
Eight – ten years?
How many times have I brought this topic up before. Rarely?
I noticed the same thing in the name. Not sure it’s the same person.
I have no idea who or what ‘6’ refers to, sounds like a conspiracy.
I’ve only criticized a few selections. Maybe he’ll slot in gray beards like military expert Colonel Douglass McGregor into Deputy positions.
Who added the “6” to my handle? Odd.
It’s looking as though candidates are being chosen based on ability not skin color.
What a concept.
Mid terms, big tent, and POTUS Trump securing 25% of the Black male vote.
I’ll note the caterwauling if we get the impact in two years.
Are you? You don’t appear to be offering qualified candidates.
There are tens of thousands of successful Black businessmen and leaders. Dr. Carson is but one.
Junior Bridgeman and Sidney Moncrief are highly successful business leaders.
After reading up on Noem I’m disappointed by her milquetoast track record.
Are you implying that anyone should want picks based on fulfilling quotas for screen world photos?
Hopefully not.
Why?
Its an infantalizing, individuality denying, divisive and ultimately fatal thot framing thats spread by those infected by the NWO mind virus.
Nice word salad. Team Trump has had years to prepare for this moment to continue the ‘big tent’.
Good luck w the mid terms.
And Susie wiles appointment is tribute to highly qualified woman appointment first woman chief of staff
Trump appointments are based on merit regardless of gender or whiteness
Do you have anything good to say about PTrump picks? …..I didn’t think so.
You are going to get an America for all people whether you like it or not. MAGA!
Your race card is broken.
BTW – Dr. Thomas Sowell doesn’t talk like you.
He’s got some good picks, and some wasted.
This is politics of the highest order, and if POTUS Trump wants success now, and in two years, African Americans require a seat at the table. And not a token spot. Or the GOP share of AA votes will shrink dramatically, and the House will flip.
Duffy, as one example, looks like a great man. But he’s not a dynamic transportation executive, nor does he represent a vital constituent group. Noem is physically attractive, but her track record appears weak and indecisive.
It’s not a race card, it’s a glaring oversight, or worse. He’s spent a decade creating a big tent, and now it looks like a country club.
P.S. Not Amarosa.
Blah blah-you would have done better-seats at the table (is this the 70s?) -join the TV commentariat-or send a note to the transition team. As Dieter used to say “your conversation bores me”
hat tip for Dieter comment!! 😀
Please pray for armchair pride opiners who STIIL apparently believe they know enough to meaningfully critique what PDJT is doing; especially armchairs who are do pride blinded that they make dire nostradoomer predictions about Americas future if PDJT isn’t smart enough to take their advice.
Bottom line, armchair I-Know-Betters, obviously dont. Hopefully they wake up and savvy up before its too late.
Now a CTH Praetorian Guard steps forward as someone dares to offer a contrary position.
Apparently POTUS Donald Trump learned to soften his delivery from said criticisms this campaign, or was it just Father Time?
Go ahead, pick a whole Cabinet without a single African American. Good luck w that.
My cabinets are mostly white but some are maple and a couple cherry. JFYI.
(Who cares what color cabinets are.)
My cabinets are Maple. some of it it Birdseye. I can’t tell what race the Birds are…
Please forego the black eyed peas.
Hopefully helpful feedback:
“Please” is a magic word thats lost its compel compliance power.
Thank God.
In other words, request denied.
Highest level politics in the world care.
Midterms care.
Black men, who voted 25% for POTUS Trmp, care.
#3 are allowed to vote in #2.
Creating an imaginary Borg called “black men” then claiming to read that Borgs mind.
The grift goes on thanks to Reverand Al Sharpton wanna bes.
Thankfully, more and more people are reclaiming their sovereignty and individuality. These people speak for themselves rather than claiming to speak for a Borg.
This is politics, not hockey. Perception matters.
If the GOP goes back to garnering 5% of the Black male vote in the midterms, the House will flip to Democrat.
Nobody with a brain cares. #3 who see beyond skin color have brains.
It’s clear that you are not conservative yourself, hence your focus on race, and the fact that you lead with “A conservative friend…” Do you have only one conservative friend?
You can believe whatever you like. Trump has tempered his language, and created a big tent, hence his victory. I look forward to his whacking the Federal bureaucracy and unleashing our economy.
I’m not focused on race, there’s a clear non-big-tent cabinet. Optics matter. Non verbal communication matters.
P.S. And please, not the black Lindsay Graham.
Oh, you are highly focused on complexion and genitalia, no matter how you attempt to couch and disguise it. Fail.
Then why haven’t I brought this up the past ten years?
Ok, read all your posts. A whole lot of nothing. You want a racially diverse cabinet. That’s sweet, personally I’ll take one with enough experience to crush the cabal, not one based on affirmative action. You need not respond, your slip slip is showing young lady.
When Trump retires into a glorious sunset, and the GOPe retakes power, Democrats return, and start relaunching all of the axed departments – you’ll wish our tent was bigger.
At the end of the day, results matter. Nobody will care if the delivery man was a particular shade of grey. What he left behind is what will be remembered.
“VERY white” cabinet ==
An individuality erasing, Marxist embracing, way to view human beings
Like PDJT, I prefer to call it a VERY competent cabinet.
Noem competent?
President Trump doesn’t look at skin color but accomplishment.
Then why did he push and pass the First Step Act? Why did he create Opportunity Zones?
Why did he hire Amarosa?
Midterms. Big tent. Swing states. Influential types. Lots of reasons.
There is literally no need for a FEDERAL Department of Education.
EVERY STATE IN THE US HAS IT’S OWN DOE.
NO NEED FOR A REDUNDANCY OF
BUREAUCRACY!
Same thing applies to the major health agencies.
And, no need for FBI ofr DEA, either.
Understanding the stages involved in a major restoration project can improve ones understanding of what PDKT is doing.
Understanding inspires awe and gratitude plus the willingness to help him succeed by spreading these feelings far and wide so the 24/7 distract, divide and criticize PsyOps from ALL sides FAIL.
She will do to the DOE what Hulk Hogan did to his WWF opponent when the ref was distracted. There will be blood.
No need for blood, just eliminate the Dept, Federal involvement has only resulted in teaching to the test, for 10 out of 11 years leaving one year to teach them any skills they need for college. The better the test results, the more federal money the district receives.
Federal involvement has made 95% of the population obediant to illegitimate authority.
Well,if we don’t teach civics the result it?
If they aren’t taught how to calculate percentages the result is?
If they aren’t taught to write cursive the result is?
They don’t have a clue how the system is structured.
You can charge them any interest rate you please.
They cannot read our founding documents.
Make Education Great Again!
Back to the states where it should have remained.
They need to shine that DOE seal real nice and bright, and stick it up Obama’s candy a$$.
Jimmy Carter started Department of Education in 1979.🤷♀️
1974
1979 and Carter are correct
started operating in May 1980, an election year hail mary by Carter
I wasn’t implying he started it. I was implying he is an enemy of the people.
You forgot the “turn the sumb***h sideways” part. 😉😄
Shut down the department of education and pass school choice. Make every Democrat vote against it.
Speaking of school choice, my old Catholic grade school shut down over a decade ago (consolidated with another school).
To make some extra money, the parish now rents out classrooms to local home schoolers.
Sad – but sounds like making lemonade out of the lemons…
Same type deal here.
We have school here in my town that
was shut down and new school built
as part of expansion, modernization…
Old school is now Charter/private school.
I served on a “Board of Specified Jurisdiction” that Cardinal George had set up to stall off the closings of Catholic Schools. The only plan they had was to fund raise their way out of the predicament.
The problem was and still is that parents are overburdened and cannot afford to pay for Catholic education when property taxes are taken from them to pay for the public schools.
When I asked the apparatchiks of the Archdiocese why none of them were pro-choice when it came to education their response was that then the government would dictate what they could and couldn’t teach. So the Catholic schools continued to close and now the churches are being closed too. But the Cardinals like put a spin on it and give a nice sounding name to these schemes- Cupich gave it the soupy name of “Renew My Church.”
“Renew My Church” sounds like some gross modern Protestant thing where the “men” wear basketball shorts to church and listen to a woman talk about the Bible.
Yep, the catholic church let the government roll over them during the “pandemic”, too.
and then the churches closed…
Now my understanding is that many support illegal immigration as it fills their pews, and they qualify to administer aid programs (Obama).
The FINAL head of this ill conceived department… I pray.
It occurs to me that buying stock in companies that produce migraine medicine could be a short term positive, by short term I think 6 to 9 months, with all the libtards that probably have head pain.
Emeritus Professor of History here. When I joined the faculty at UCLA in 1974, students in my first year classes could reasonably be expected to write essays at the 12th grade level. When I retired from Minnesota in 2014, I found myself dealing with students who were functioning at the level of 8th graders. I retired in no small part because I could no longer do my job. Here’s one example: I was addressing a first year survey course, with a map of Egypt and the ancient Near East projected from the rear of a large lecture hall. Seven hands went up as I talked about the importance of the flood stages in the Nile and Tigris-Euphrates basins. I pointed to a student at random. Where’s Egypt, he asked. When I pointed it out on the projection, the other hands all went down.
This was in 1989. You had to be there over the ensuing decades to understand just how badly the no child left behind mantra betrayed our academic mission. K-12 public education is an oxymoron of the worst sort.
I thought “no-child-left-behind” was a Bush 2 innovation, roughly 2002.
So, you’re saying that in 1989 the students were already being left behind?
Long before that.
No child left behind was a Ted Kennedy creation passed in its entirety with great fanfare by George W.
When I joined the faculty at Minnesota in 1977, there were remedial programs in math, and in computer science. In 1989, my department was the 41st to revamp the curriculum. this in keeping with the lack of basic historical knowledge that we were seeing in our first year courses.
No child left behind means the troop never sets out on foot.
As always, the trivial answer is zero, which happens to be the liberal solution to everything.
Schools also stopped teaching geography.
In the spring of ’89, one of our Twin Cities stations polled the senior class statewide to get a sense of this very question. Roughly 35% of these kids couldn’t identify Canada as our neighbor to the north.
Fantastic news!💃💃
President Trump needs to put freeze on
hiring for Federal government as soon as he is
inaugurated.
Retrograde would be nice. If you were hired last 6 months…bye!/s😁
The Department of Education employees probably have their
transfer to another agency papers in.
Can she do it on day one?
She sounds like a great choice.
Cannot wait til the DoE is gone. I do believe it is what destroyed the Public Schools in the US, having lived thru the before and after as a student (before), then a teacher (after).
Jiayou!!!
i have to agree.i graduated in 1980 and i could see it going down hill from there.i hope jimmy carter lives long enough to see trump dismantle his baby!!
Good move, let education back to the States. Those with woke policies will have dismal results, people will vote with their feet. Leftist ideology can’t survive free competitition.
Perhaps the most telling line in the announcement is the last one. “We will send education BACK TO THE STATES, and Linda will spearhead that effort.”
In the immortal words of Jean Luc Picard: “Make it so, #1!”
The genius behind this is that the left will inherently continue with their policies at the state level, while red states will make dramatic changes. The quick and end result is that students in blue states will be FAR less competitive than students from red states, for both elite college slots as well as jobs, and then blue state parents will do the rest.
Put another way, this policy inherently punishes blue states without explicitly doing so.
MAGA!!
I live in a blue state and the schools are so bad our grandchildren are home schooled.
I retire in 5 years but plan to work my last two years out of State. Moving to a red State with my family.
The grandchildren will most likely continue to be homeschooled because we have trust issues with the government at the federal, state, and county level.
The teachers respond….
.
Art!
That was funny. Must follow this guy.
We have to get the Dept of Ed out of the RISKLESS FINANCING of college as well. When the federal government backs education loans, there is zero downward pressure on the rate they can charge. Student fails out? Bailout. Under qualified entrant? Bailout.
Then, we need to crack why colleges are amassing huge cash reserves then not issuing merit scholarships, instead dumping all the students to loans. And then, get colleges out of the federal grant systems, where professors are incentivized to become PhD paper mills for that sweet sweet research money. It would also help to get the colleges to give up patents on things paid for with federal grants, instead of letting private technical colleges profit from public money. I’m looking at you Ivy Leagues.
Those endowment funds at the Ivy League are doing quite well…do they ever spend the money?
For example: Harvard University has an endowment worth $35 – $40 billion.
They typically spend half the interest dividend.
Talking about somebody right for the job of dismantling the Dept. Of Mis-Education, Miss Linda will do it the right way!!
Bravo!
cross posted at https://freedomaustralia.freeforums.net/thread/6311/president-trump-nominates-mcmahon-education
Sending education back to the states is not only a good idea, it was the very idea on which our Constitutional Republic was founded!
Our corrupt, imperial federal government is eerily similar to the English Crown from which the American colonies declared their independence!
Once that was done those colonies became states…the same states that President-elect Trump and his Minutemen and women are reliberating from this new tyranny that has descended on its citizens!
What we are watching unfold is a genuine second American Revolution!
Not only that, John Dewey’s version of public education must go.
Dewey’s touchy-feely vision of education is getting floaters. Back to the 3Rs baby!
I’ve waited a very long time to the Dept of Ed completely dismantled.
Absolutely great choice!!!! This is truly encouraging!!!!
God bless this amazing President. Thank you, dearest President Trump and your chosen agent for change, Linda McMahon!
Wow. Just wow!
Ever get a “yes” answer to prayer and yet not believe it? I’m there. Head wag!
👊🙏✝️🙏👊
I hope she knows her job is very short lived. If trump doesn’t eliminate this dept. then he will be another reagan who said he would, but didn’t. That’s the one thing that pissed me off about reagan.
great news!
education has been dumbed down in this country, academics pushed aside for woke and DEI nonsense.
Of course, I live in corrupt Illinois, and little will change (might get worse in fact) but parents won’t
have to travel far to make their displeasure known. People can move to states that have standards
of excellence in education. Blacks in Chicago have found their voice, showing up at town hall events
and, yes, voting for President Trump. Things are about to change.
If they ask for severance pay just tell them Biden sent it all to Ukraine to protect their border….
One of my daughters always planned to go into medicine. Upon entering high school I was aghast to find out that Latin was not taught as part of the Advanced Placement diploma. I wound up having to pay for expensive Latin classes when she went to college. They also did not offer either Trig or Calculus. This was in 1997..
Back in the dinosaur days we took either Spanish or French in 7th and 8th grade and Latin in 9th. At that time it was called junior high school. We took Alg I in 7th, Alg II in 8th, Geometry in 9th. Trig and Calculus came in high school, 10th and 11th grades. We also took Earth Science, Chemistry, and Physics. US History, World History and Geography. English Grammar and Literature.
This wasn’t even considered advanced studies, it was what was expected for us to know in order to navigate life in the world back then.
Another winamin!!!
Yes!!
A good first step.
Next step: outlaw teachers’ unions.
A “temp job.” I’m sure she’;ll do a great job and I hope her term is over before Trump’s term is over. And I mean that with her success in mind.
That said, I think the youtube algorithm is already responding to this news as I was just pushed a news story on the subject of Texas educators being unsupported and quitting which paints a dismal picture for “education at the state level.” Of course this disregards that the federal education department has done nothing to help any of that.
I’ve been aware of this issue in Texas for quite a while but also aware how board members and administrative people make a ridiculous amount of money under their budgets while the teachers and schools are quite poorly funded.
The “news” story never seems to mention this strange disparity and instead blames the top elected leader in Texas (governor) for the problem. Nevermind that nearly all of the district level people “earning” all of the money and making decisions on where the money goes manage to keep it closer to themselves and are most of not all Democrats.
It’s ALL a mess. But eliminating it at the federal level should only be considered the beginning.
Teachers unions and the like will continue doing what they do.
WAHOO!!!
YOU GO, MR PRESIDENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!
Grinning and doing the Trump Dance!!!
FANTASTIC!!
Although, I can see further balkanization as people continue to move to states that support home schooling and/or a public school that teaches the 3 R’s and dispenses, with prejudice, the woke trash and substandard “math” they are teaching kids. Our young people are graduating from colleges and universities not knowing how to think critically, or to read and write well, and have no knowledge of our country’s history. The Sciences have been destroyed. They just learn to hate the “white patriarchy” and call everything racist. “Gender studies” is trash and needs to be eliminated. I would even vote for dispensing with “Women’s studies” as that has become all about being the victim.
My two cents.
The more commonly heard story of people leaving California is no small part of that, but did you also know the same problem exists in Illinois?
We’ve all seen the elections maps in the states where EVERY state is painted red with deep blue spots. Part of this could be explained by dense population centers and the mental illnesses that leads to. But given that most government employees by practical 100% rate are Democrats who run elections, isn’t it reasonable to at least SUSPECT these “deep blue states” exist though systemic election fraud?
Years ago, I saw an ad for teachers that they would give you a house if you taught in Chicago because there were so many empty homes. At the time I thought. There’s nothing anyone can give me to teach in Chicago!! Pretty sure this was before Trump 1st run. There was even a term given to the phenomenon. “feral housing” because the homes had been vacant so long trees and vines had started taking over the structures.
Ew!
Federal oversight of “School Choice”…is there a more stealth way of getting federal dollars into private schools??
What I’ve heard Vivek say on podcasts is that the Dept of Ed was created for a reason that no longer exists (which was ensuring states did not misspend money meant for poor rural usually black schools).
I’m guessing the strategy is to say they are not within their original frame, then say that another dept already handles the original issue, if it even exist (in this case DoJ Civil Rights division).
Vivek says that only about 10% of the states’ Ed money comes from the Fed but they use it to bully states into doing what they want.
Can’t wait to see the first dept eliminated. And watch the rest fall!!
In that mission the DoEd has failed miserably.
Can we start a Federal agency Hunger Games? !
May the odds ever be in OUR favor!!
Even here in Texas the grandkids are being taught gender & biological sex are two different things.
That’s a F’ing horror. If the government is allowed to redefine vaccine, the education secretary can redefine words too. Time to put that word back and tell them, “make up your own word the way you make up pronouns.”
Our Constitution does not allow for bloated agencies in the first place, so we must leave education to the states and dramatically cut costs at the local levels. States monitor education results, issue licenses and enact laws to supposedly help students so we have duplicative services at the Fed level.
Local school boards are accountable to taxpayers and scrutiny of performance is the only way to get quality education from charter, public or private schools. There are great teachers, but top heavy administrative personnel who never set foot in the classroom, have to be scaled back and more money is not the answer.
In the age of AI and remote learning, many jobs both in and outside the classroom can be eliminated. Huge salaries, perks, pensions and benefits are no longer affordable and teachers unions wield too much political power. (The Supreme Court ruled in Janus vs AFSCME that unions cannot make members pay dues, so they are becoming obsolete.)
After years of paying huge sums, we can no longer afford this education model. The proverbial well is dry!
And remember, it’s not like this department has been around for “forever” in the US. It was initiated by Jimmy Carter in 1979 and formally began operating on May 4, 1980.
I recall a statement going around at the time which went something like this: “It was Carter’s gift to the teachers unions”.
Education has been suffering ever since…
Does anyone really think this dept will be eliminated? Great talking point, but this effort will get tied up in court for the next ten years. The cries of college loan recipients working on gender studies degrees, and the lawsuits of 4,000 Dept of Ed, will be all the rage. Even though this Federal Dept, along with many others, should be dismantled and cast to the wind. at best, they will shift the responsibility of the Educ. Dept. to other Federal agencies, it will continue to exist in other forms. Even though Congress may have illegally established this Dept., you can bet Congress is counting on a corrupt legal system to make certain it’s not abolished.
The recent SCOTUS decision reportedly is powerful regarding executive authority.
OMB can also starve the funds?
Yes, there will be lawsuits.
