The question is not really whether Sea Island will attempt to regain their power position in 2028 through Ron DeSantis, the question is more appropriately considered: from what position will they launch DeSantis into 2028.
The Florida Governor’s term ends in 2026. Will the traditional path of a year in the private sector to accumulate wealth be followed, or will DeSantis take this opportunity to fill the Senate Seat of Marco Rubio with himself.

Perhaps the last sentence in that statement provides a clue. No one uses the phrase “proven record of results” more than the tribe of power organizers who constructed the public image of Ron DeSantis. You cannot converse with a member of Sea Island about DeSantis without them saying “proven track record of results.” It’s almost an autonomic response.
Many people forget that Ron DeSantis previously tried to run for the Senate in 2015, filling the seat from Marco Rubio’s first guided effort to be the Vice-Presidential nominee of the Jeb Bush/Marco Rubio ticket.
Jeb failed, Donald Trump crushed him, so the Senate seat never opened; however, behind the scenes Club for Growth had already positioned DeSantis as the heir apparent.
It will be interesting to watch what happens.

Pres.Trump has built buildings and facilities which are designed to SERVE people, and OPTIMIZE their experiences.

Lived with it from the time I became aware that my father was involved in the politics of Illinois while working in business in Chicago from Eisenhower on until my father left the state in 1967. It was impossible to think of politics in any other light after that as I was her age and in high school. Then JFK was murdered, and Bobby, finally MLK. Then there was a mass murder as Richard Speck and murdered many nurses all at once in their room in Chicago.
I was not aware of what was happening beyond that but I didn’t vote until now. I could never quite see the difference between that and the candidates. But Trump?!?!?!? I could see the difference. I have seen Donald Trump grow in his compassion for people until he fully realized and embodied the best interests for the people first and, therefore, America first. From 2016-2020 he fulfilled his promises off a white board hand-printed in his office. He never stopped fighting for us in absentia from the White House from 2020-2024. NOW he has welcomed a forward line of people we have all been watching hopefully and sometimes desperately during the gap of the last four years. He is the President of the Unite States in the true spirit of what that office requires. Let those who want power for themselves and not the people and the nation, choke on it.

That’s 14 months of Gaetz running the DOJ WITHOUT Senate approval of his nomination…plenty of time for Merrick Garland and Christopher Wray to shop for adult diapers.

Any recess appointment Trump makes, presumably early in 2025, lasts until Congress is in session the following year, normally in December, 2026, so that would ensure his appointments are in office nearly 2 years rather than the 14 months mentioned in my post!

I am going to go a bit against the grain of CTH on this one, but I do NOT see DeSantis nominating himself. I think he would rather deposit a very large chit into the favor bank, take the Nikki Haley private boards for $$$ route (his lovely wife does like the finer things/s) add another chip by endorsing his successor as Governor and then position himself for 2028.
Remember, Senate to President is a rather rare accomplishment. He may also talk a lot of MAGA and then seek a position in the Trump Admin later in the term when someone inevitably bows out.
I agree with your assessment of Meatball possibly not nominating himself for Senator.
However, I would also point out that we have had a lot of Presidents go from Seantor to President in just the last 75 years:
Truman from Senator to VP first;
Kennedy;
Johnson;
Obama
Two selected by the Derps.

I really don’t think he is going to appoint himself. That would be an exceedingly stupid move. Then again he let the power brokers convince him to run for President..
I don’t see how DeSantis can be governor and a Senator at the same time.
Then again, the establisment GOP changed the Florida Resign to Run law to accommodate DeSantis to make his presidential run official even though he had been violating it.
Nothing DeSantis could do or say would ever make this family vote for him in any position.
