Very true. A few days ago I had to turn off a documentary because the narrator’s English was so massacred. Almost every word with a letter ‘t’ that is supposed to be pronounced, did not have one, except if the word began with a ‘t’.
Little was’ li ull.’ Parrot was parruh, other words fascinay in , carpeh, ospi ull (hospital) fla (flat ) ca a log (catalogue) Is that even English?
Accents are different problem, I like most accents, I understand most accents, they add flavor to speech.
Foreign accents can even be described as ‘charming’. Before I lived in North America I used to think American accents were very exotic and pleasant to the ear. I listened in fascination to my aunt’s American husband, from West Virginia, a really nice man. Now ‘North American’ is normal for me, I do not notice an accent.
But that sloppy English must make it very difficult for people whose first language is not English, to understand what is being said or to learn the language.
What a waste …
