NV and AZ still can’t figure out how to do an election.
It will be 2030 before they get done “counting”.

At midnight on election night I sat with my Democrat counterpart doing the final sorting and sealing of official vote numbers, precinct by precinct, within our county.
It involved filling out a form that required simple math — very simple addition — and this adult man (who had a few years on this old lady) had a great deal of difficulty adding almost every number.
One actual example: 12 + 138.
Most of us had the answer within two seconds.
After much pondering he said, “140.”
I always very nicely would say what the correct number was, and it was like a lightbulb came on in his head when he heard it. He agreed and would write that number down.
He told me it bothered him that he was failing at math, after spending his life being an accountant.
My guess is he may have early onset dementia, which was hard to see even in someone I’d only just met.
That aside, maybe there needs to be a little more involved with the selection process of who handles ballots and numbers.

My mother was an executive secretary for many years. Though she only had a high school education, her grammar and spelling were always perfect. She also balanced her checkbook to the penny every month.
After my father’s sudden death, I very quickly realized that he had been covering for her declining mental faculties for a while. Even reading the sympathy cards that arrived was clearly a chore for her, though she tried to hide it.
I finally realized how bad it was when I took a look at her check register, which was filled with whiteout and scribbles and the notation “CE” in several places. When I asked her what it meant, she smiled sweetly and said, “close enough”.

Sorry about your mom. My mom (also an executive secretary—proofread every one of my college papers) began to show signs of dementia at an early age (early 50’s). When my dad would ask her, “What is 3 +3?” she would look at him for a minute and accuse him of trying to trick her. I have lost too many family members and good friends to this hideous disease.
Oh, I am so sorry! My mother was in her early 70s when she began slipping so, while it was horrible, it was not nearly as awful as early onset, which is just a whole other layer of grief and pain, especially for the family! (To say nothing of the financial burden that it causes when someone is afflicted before they are even old enough for Medicare and is often in the prime earning years.)
My mom was the same…she worked as a ‘book keeper’ back in the day, for TIAA…she also predicted Obama Care, around 1961…her account was the University of Michigan…all on a high school diploma…educated by the Ursuline nuns. She would doggedly go after the missing penny in her checkbook, too…

There are four candidates, and the bottom two’s votes will be redistributed to the top two according to the second choices made by the bottom two’s voters. Yes, it’s ridiculous. It looks as if the bottom two only got around 13,000 votes combined. About 500 write-in votes, too.

Create color coded envelope system:Region color, color for state or state substation (CA is big, need 3 delivery locations), color for county, county opens and delivers to precinct (second enclosed envelop). These envelops have priority and no reason shouldn’t be delivered within 1 to 2 days.
States can choose to have their local and state elections on the same day – there choice, they don’t have to use federal guidelines for state and local offices.

Bombing the Houthis hasn’t had any effect – either in their 10-year war with Saudi Arabia or in the recent Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
I read one commentator say that the only way to stop the Houthis is to negotiate with them. That is what worked in last year’s peace agreement between Yemen and Saudi Arabia – and that peace agreement has held, so far. So, my opinion is that they are amenable to negotiations. Since 70,000 air strikes and killing 400,000 Yemenis haven’t worked, maybe the US needs to consider another method of working things out.

I think the stories about him being considered are overblown but… Pompeo is a weird one. I thought he was good while in the Trump admin.
