Mornin’, dear Bet. Just got up a little bit ago myself. Little ‘Tink is sleeping in . . . . someplace so its been a slow morning. Had a great time last night passing out tons of candy from a neighbor’s porch. Halloween is a traditional kids night in our neighborhood. It was gratifying and also fun to see whole families coming. Side streets were filled bumper-t0-bumper with cars.
Families traditionally come here because our streets are safe. Costumed kids of all ages—most coming with moms and dads—were having a great and safe time . . . Caregiving got in the way of Halloween so this was my first in a long time. Really enjoyable. 🙂
It doesn’t take anything for me to start remembering our three grands nearest to us (now grown) and the neighbourhood Trick or Treating. I have been doing just that this morning…lots of wistful sighs, wondering how time, when these final days to an election which will determine if we as a nation still have a chance or whether the tombstone goes up on our Republic’s grave, slows to a second by second crawl and the years when we were walking with them, making those “mental cocktails” sped by so fast. I have no answer.

Israel Update:
-There are reports that Khamenei the Supreme Leader of Iran ordered the Military to attack Israel again. The Head of the Revolutionary Guard (that is basically their Chief of Staff) said that the “response against Israel will be unimaginable”. His Deputy said something similar. There are reports that they will wait until after the US elections not to give Trump extra points.
There are also reports that it will be before the elections and there are reports that they will launch it from Iraq and not Iran to avoid retaliation on Iran.
In the last hour I also saw a report that motion in preparation for an attack is noticed.
Chief of Staff of Israel said today that if they attack again the IDF will use means that were not used before. Note: While I hope that we don’t suffer casualties to some degree I can’t avoid the thought that again God is forcing the necessary actions like happened in Gaza and Lebanon. The enemy just makes mistakes and forcing Israel to act.
If we take a mass casualty event in their attack, the blood will be on Biden who used all the pressure he could to block a proper response to the first and second attacks.
-Today we had casualties from rockets. Close to Haifa a woman and her son got killed from a rocket. They were Druze (Druze are a none Jew none Muslim community who are loyal citizens). Then in a north city area one Israeli and four Thai workers got killed from a rocket that hit their vehicle. Both incidents were in open agriculture lands. Note that Iron Dome does not intercept rockets that are projected to go to open lands.
-Following, the IDF ordered evacuation of a city Nabatyeh in South Lebanon and started bombing munitions and other Hezbollah targets. Also an evacuation order in the Shia area in Beirut.
-Secretary of US Defense Austin talked with his Israeli counterpart about : the humanitarian problem in Gaza, how to de-escalate the war in the north and how to end the war in Gaza and about the hostages. Note: Instead of talking about how to win the war they are just extending it with endless pressures. Prayers for Trump.
-About 6 drones intercepted. A few from Iraq and possibly one from Yemen too.
Iraq is releasing almost daily videos of how they send drones and missiles to Israel. At some points we will need to hit them hard. Very hard. They are an arm of Iran.
-After the IDF captured hundreds of terrorists and suspects in Jabalia north Gaza. A video of Interrogation of an UNRWA employee was released. The man describes how Hamas is “seeing their vehicles as means of defense for themselves and how they take over humanitarian aide and channel it as they wish”.
Note: We must resolve the distribution of the Aide. Who holds the food holds the people.
I know there were efforts to resolve it but I don’t know where it stands. But the problem is known. A part is that the IDF doesn’t want to be responsible for the welfare of the population and a proper replacement to Hamas was not resolved.
-After Macron from France denied Israel from participating in an important Military exhibition in France. Israel won the case in a French court. They lifted his order.
-Bibi at an Officers Course graduation ceremony:
“I do not set a target date for the end of the war, but I do set clear goals for winning the war”
“We treat the arms of the octopus and at the same time hit the head of the octopus – in Iran”
“We are changing the face of the Middle East. But to be clear – we are still in the eye of the storm.

-Today Lebanon reported of 100 killed. (Mostly Hezbollah).
-IDF: We destroyed about 70% of Hezbollah’s stockpiles of UAVs. (Unmanned airplanes/drones).
-In the powerful first 36 hours of the attack on Hezbollah ( a while ago) 250 airplanes attacked Hezbollah with 2,000 munitions on 1,500 targets. In addition 1,000 air attacks were done to aide the ground forces. The purpose was to prevent and reduce their capabilities and that was successful. We anticipated thousands of rockets per day and that never happened.
-Since the beginning of the war 1,300 drones were launched into Israel. 231 made it to the ground.
-The death count of this Black October soldiers and murdered civilians is at 87. RIP.
We are happy to end this month.
-In October the IDF killed 250 terrorists in Gaza who took part in the 10/7 massacre. The “black list”.
-Something about another zone. The elected Progressive government of Britain is in a deep dive. Their Prime Minister Keir Starmer has now the worst popularity in modern history of the UK. Stupidly enough the Conservatives competed with the Reform Party of Nigel Farage and so the Progressives won with only 33%. But their system gives the winner a full domination.
So the residents of “the conquered lost island” are now left with the Islamists, crushing economy, thought control and despair. And Britain has posed an arms embargo on Israel.

I can’t thank you enough for your in-depth information.
Being a fan of old movies, I recently watched Cast a Giant Shadow released in 1962 in the US. It is about WWII hero US Col David “Mickey” Marcus who was an advisor to Ben Gurion during the 1948 period of the establishment of the state of Israel.
Marcus apparently was invaluable in formally organizing and training the early Israeli army. Tragically, he died as a result of “friendly” fire in Israel only months after accomplishing his goals.
The movie prompted me to find and read the book of the same name by Ted Berkman which, of course, is much more detailed than the movie.
Marcus was a fascinating and heroic individual, and I wondered if his story is still taught in Israeli history.

Good Morning all.
Generator is up and operational in the automatic mode but I still have to get hooked up with the remote monitoring and control system.
For 10 months I had been using the Kaspersky Anti-virus service. It was the best out there as far as I was concerned. Russia and China have the best hackers so it makes sense that it one or the other could produce the best anti-virus software. It also provided VPN and various features for cleaning the hard drive, eliminating unwanted Apps and programs, and configuring to maximize speed.
It was by far the best anti-virus/anti-malware program I had ever used. It ate everything! But since it originated in Russia the US government first forbid it’s use in government systems and now mandated it become unavailable in the US, even for private citizens, and thus blocked any updates. An antivirus program to be effective has to constantly be updated to recognize the new viruses as they emerge. So I had my nephew over and he removed it and installed other antivirus software.
I still have electrical work to be done. The weather head, which is where the power comes from the pole to the house must be raised up higher above the roof line. That will get the cable well above the peak of the sunroom roof and away from the edge of the roof of the main part of the house. That should be done next week and when it is, since the power to the house will be off for awhile, my new generator will get a bit of a test workout as it supplies the power to the house.
I also have a new 100 amp main breaker to install since the existing one has been kicking out occasionally I just got a new one.
All is right with the world when rah is sharing the ins and outs of home repairs and operations.

Back around 2007 I read several articles in software review magazines about Kaspersky’s products. Almost all the reviewers ranked Kaspersky near the top of the anti-virus / anti-malware market at that time. So I dumped my Norton product and bought the top-rated Kaspersky product
Despite my diligence, two years later my desktop was stealthily infected by a remotely-controlled “bot.” I only discovered that when my Comcast email stopped working one day. I went thru several hours of troubleshooting but was Unable to figure out why. So I finally called Comcast Tech Help line.
After some back and forth, the Tech rep told me that my email had been blocked because it was sending out SPAM emails at a rate of thousand of emails per hour. I was incredulous to say the least, but the rep would not budge from his story, and even read me my client’s outbound email stats from the past week – it was staggering. He said that Kaspersky was not as great as they had claimed and that he had found very few A/V programs that could stop everything that was targeted at Windows PCs.
So he had me change the default comms port numbers that my email client was using, and that solved the problem for the moment.
But I was quite disappointed at Kaspersky and Windows’ vulnerability, and 24 hours later I bought an Apple MacBook Pro laptop for myself and my wife. We’ve not had a virus or malware problem since switching systems.

I was attending IU in Bloomington when IU went undefeated NCAA champs. The student tickets were broken down into 3 lots. A student could only get one lot or IOW tickets for 1/3 of the home games. I lived on the first floor of McNutt Quad. It was a Co-ed dorm with men on one floor girls on the next then men on the next floor etc. My girl friend lived on the 2nd floor. Every time there was a home game that I didn’t have a ticket to my girl friend found some friend the her floor that had a ticket but wasn’t going to the game and I got it. So I saw every home game.
Kent Benson, the starting center on that team was from New Castle and lived in McNutt Quad. We would sometimes eat in the Cafeteria together.
One morning I happened to be in the old Football stadium for some reason. Can’t remember why I was there but Knight and the team were there. He had them running the lines on the old grass football field. Start at and end zone line run to the 5 yd line and back to the end zone line and then to the 10 yard line and back to the end zone line etc.. He had them doing that the entire length of the field!
I’ll be a Bobby Knight admirer and fan forever!

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. I heard that some of the American media are going crazy about the huge “Israelis for Trump” billboards in Tel Aviv.
This is excellent. David. Israel is such a beautiful country. I visited quite a few years ago before I was married with kids.
I want to take them for a trip sometime to see Israel. My 14 year old son is extremely bright. He has mentioned that he would love to join the IAF. I don’t know about today, but when I visited I tried to find ways to join the IDF. It is impossible unless you can demonstrate Jewish lineage.
It wearies me to hear of so many American who don’t bother to vote. Such a waste of what good men sacrificed so much to protect.

The cheat is massive and we have “put our hand to the plow” doing what we can physically but we obviously need divine intervention. I think that we should include in our prayers that God convicts the hearts and minds of the cheaters themselves. Remember: “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.” We need to ask God to turn these people’s hearts and minds to not do this despicable cheating. (PS: Fasting won’t hurt either).

I had to have my computer repaired almost 3 months ago… and as with every building/repair job, there was a choice to make between fast/good/cheap. One can have 2 of those but never all three; I chose good & cheap so it was not fast. Three months later I’m testing it out. There are a couple minor bugs/adjustments to remedy but I’m connected again. I’ve been strictly in observer mode – reading on an old device but was unable to see videos, most pictures, and no posting/commenting.
So… the French architecture restorations I’ve been following in recent years have made much progress over these weeks so I’ll pick up sharing somewhere near where I left off.
This is the chapel of St. Joseph at Chateau de LaLande built in 1863 by the family who owned the chateau for several generations before that; they built this chapel in honor of their child who died very young, and both the architectural and decorative restoration craftspeople (who have all worked also on the current Parisian Norte Dame restoration, so world-class artisans with lifetimes of experience) have made it clear this one is a unique example of extremely good design and lavish decoration. The work is now nearing completion, but skipping ahead would take some of the fun out of watching it unfold (I admit I have binge-watched this to present time). The restoration all in will exceed a half million Euros for this tiny jewel box of a private chapel.

The rebuilding/restoration of these old places (not far from each other in rural France) is uplifting (to me anyway, some here have agreed) – with admiration & respect for a time when things were built to last hundreds of years (without computers or modern power tools), by what was once state of the art construction & decoration techniques, which is now historically significant and worthy of saving & reviving for future generations. It seems an apt metaphor for the theme of the times we are experiencing here too; vision forward.
Stuff worth doing gets done by envisioning the outcome, team effort and bit by bit.
