Employees who work in high end areas be it table games, slots, restaurants, VIP lounges, butlers, hosts, cocktail servers, and bartenders can make so much money in tips.
I have seen high end gamblers tip a cocktail server $25,000 in one tip. One patron asked an employee how much she owed on her mortgage and she replied, “$150,000”. He tipped her that much.
One gambler had just sold his business for $50 million and was celebrating. He tipped the porter $5,000. He tipped the dealers (who split 400 ways) $350,000. He tipped and tipped and tipped. The bosses called his host and let them know what he was doing (just in case the guest was off his rocker) and the host said that the guest wanted to do this.
High end servers in restaurants do fantastically. $500 to $1,500 a night.
This incentivizes people to become better at their jobs, learn excellent customer service, learn to be friendly and conversant, and strive to be that person who puts up with a lot of “rich people drama” but gets to make a lot of tips for the stress.
There are a lot of very wealthy people who enjoy going out and talking and laughing with pleasant employees. It is a break from their day-to-day stresses. They like seeing a bunch of people smile and say “hello” when they arrive.

I always overtip! Not the type you reported but to the extent that I can. The smile of the waitress that receives a 50% cash tip makes my heart happy!
I worked extremely hard….and like bringing joy to others. “No tax on tips” was brilliant from a brilliant businessman!
