Good morning all.
Mowed my own yard yesterday. Had some leaf grinding to do also. Still have a little weed wacking to do. Took both trash cans out to the road. And then I was done. Couldn’t do more.
Came in and sat in the recliner and rested for an hour then got a shower. Lots of dust because it is so dry and because of grinding up leaves and pine needles with the mower in a good breeze coming out of the SSW. So I was blowing dirt clods out of my nose.
Then sad down to a dinner of sea shell pasta and meat sauce and garlic bread. Once I ate I was done. Hit the sack at 18:30 and woke at 23:10 because of cramps in my feet and the need for a bathroom break.
Physically I’m not half the man I was before this stroke and I’m beginning to doubt that I will ever make it completely back to the condition I was before. That being said, I thank the Lord it was not worse!

Yes I did lose some coordination in my right hand and also lost some balance. Initially I was not lifting my right heal enough when walking either.
Now I have gained back my dexterity and coordination and balance. I can do everything I could do before with my right hand without thinking about it. I am still a little cautious about some things but lets just say I can put my pants on or take them off when standing. I still have weakness in both right hand/arm and leg. The difference is noticeable. But my stride has pretty much evened out without me having to think about it when I walk. What really bothers me most is my lack of endurance/stamina.
Today the plan is to weed wack and then cover all the deck furniture for the winter. Go get gas for the mowers and seed blocks for the birds, and trade in two empty propane tanks for the grill for full ones. I’ll feel darn good if I can get all that done.
Then tomorrow I will be getting new inside wood rack that will fit perfectly in the 42″ high x 36″ wide space I have for it near the fireplace. Assemble that and then fill it up. If I’m still able to go I will be removing the cast iron door for the fireplace clean out at the base of the chimney outside and figuring out a way to temporarily install the louvered and screened vent cover over the hole. That provides the necessary ventilation for burning in the fireplace insert.
By this weekend I want to be organizing and cleaning my new garage to maximize the room we have when I have both vehicles parked in it. Final organization will have to wait until warm weather next year. This year I just want to be able to get the FJ cruiser and my full sized pickup in along with my grill and smoker and at least one of the two large trash cans and still be able to easily access both vehicles.
But overall I’m just thankful that the Lord has blessed us with a couple of weeks of Indian Summer so that I can get my winterizing done at the pace I am capable of before the hard freezes come.

You might benefit from the arm and wrist braces used with firearms. They might go a long way in restoring your skill level, which I know is very high.
Recent court cases protect the right of people to use these braces … for now.

I had a doctor tell me that if you have a severe health event the younger you are the better your chances for complete recovery. I think you are doing well if you accomplished so much in one day! I had to stroke. Was in the hospital for three days. Minor strokes often presage larger strokes so as per SOP they kept me. Did a CUB X-ray and an MRI of my brain/head. Checked out my heart of course and did all the labs.
Came home after consults with cardiologists and Neurologists.
Then a few days later I got what I would bet was COVID. Kicked my butt badly for three days and then I started getting better.
After about 10 days I finally started feeling good enough to start actually doing something again. And so here I am starting the struggle to get back to normal and make life worth living again.

My personal struggle of late, has been to step away from the Treehouse ( but now I’m hooked! ) and get some air and exercise – But these are crazy days we are in, and fraught with uncertainty – so we all spend too much time chasing down news and whatnot – So we pray – and trust we emerge successfully on the other side of all of this!

If blood pressure meds are too strong they will turn one into a sloth. Maybe talk to your physician next visit. Doctors have a set response for the most part to any illness. Stroke or heart attack ressponse is statins and blood pressure meds. Statins can make one very sore but individual results may vary, (I no longer and will never take statins again).
Blood pressure meds have to be of the least amount possible and still lower blood pressure to keep within a desired range. There is controversy these days on the acceptable (“normal”) range of both blood pressure and cholesterol. You may want to do your own research.
IMHO in todays world we have to be very active in our own healthcare and that means obtaining enough knowledge about any condition to make informed decisions which do not rely solely on a physicians advice.

Statins are the first thing the medical industrial complex pulls out of their “kit bag.” At one point, and maybe still, they were The most prescribed med. There are many unpleasant side effects and contraindications. It’s a very complicated subject, but, the fact is that your brain needs cholesterol to function, so, very low numbers may affect brain processes. It can be difficult to get information that puts statins in a negative light, but it’s out there and worth reading. A well recognized side effect is muscle weakness and soreness – note that your heart is a muscle.
Good advice regarding blood pressure. Over the years, “normal range” has been adjusted lower and lower. When my dad was in his late 80’s, his doctor had him on 3 different anti-hypertensives. He could barely lift his head off the pillow. Older folk (I am one) need more oomph to get blood to their brain. Having the blood pressure of an 18 year old athlete may not do that. Dad eventually lowered his meds, raised his BP a bit, and became himself again.
There is no one size fits all.
For BP it’s amlodipine Besylate. 5 mg pills.
Directions are to take two tablets a day. Though the directions don’t say so I’m taking one in the morning and one in the evening to even out the level of the drug in my system.
I am proscribed at statin to be taken once a day at bedtime but I stopped taking it. According to the doc by bad cholesterol level is borderline. According to my reading of the latest research the old standards are way wrong and I am just fine. So I just quit taking it though I did not notice any side effects.
I am also proscribed at blood thinner. Clopidogrel 75 mg. once by mouth daily.
I’m thinking your right about the BP meds and I may back off and cut my dosage in half and see what happens.

My hubs has been under the care of cardiologist for many years, since both his parents died from heart disease.
His doctor referred him to a nephrologist for blood pressure problem.
After several visits, this doctor helped him get on the proper dosage of meds. (3 of them)
And, his BP has been fine now for years.

Israel Update:
This one will be relatively short because I translated for you two news updates from Channel 14 in Israel. They did such a good job that I thought it should be translated.
-Overall the main banks of Hezbollah were decimated with lots of money and gold lost. 20 of 34 branches across Lebanon, mainly Beirut.
-Hezbollah said they will escalate and they did. Wider sphere of attacks all over the north and also central Israel. Drones and missiles. We had a soldier killed from a rocket and a couple badly injured.
-The day before it was Beirut and manly financial institutions of Hezbollah. Today Command and Control centers.
They have a lot of bunkers under buildings in Beirut from which they manage the war. Today was a day of taking down buildings in Beirut. We do let them evacuate. You will see some videos that I have.
-IDF keeps the fight in North Gaza Jabalia area. Unfortunately I saw an enemy video of hitting a tank with a missile.
We will know tomorrow if there is anyone killed and injured. The tanks are very strong and have an active protection system that shoots at missiles in the air. So sometimes the videos look bad but the crew survives. I will know tomorrow.
Anyways there is a large force working on a deeper cleanup of the North of Gaza. They ordered civilians out and there are videos of tens of thousands exodus. The plan is to move people out of the north and clean it up. This is also a bargain chip for hostage deal. They want to be back to North Gaza and the IDF is pushing them out. In Jabalia there was a strike inside a school a few days ago. Of course the UN of Hamas and others tried to exaggerate it and today the Speaker of the IDF released a picture with some 14-16 faces of terrorists who were killed there with their names and affiliations and positions. Those schools are no longer teaching grounds.as if they learned anything there aside to be genocidal terrorists. Also mosques used to be strategic locations of Hamas and are no longer safe places. We destroyed about 800 mosques of 1,200 that exist there.
Mosques had some of the worst battles.
-Speaker of the IDF is playing some game with Hezbollah, he is teasing them about the half a billion dollars that they have under a hospital saying that “like we knew the whereabouts of all who were assassinated, so we know exactly where they have their money and gold”. This creates tension and people are evacuating this hospital. I have no idea how the IDF will deal with it. Could be a risky Special Forces raid in Beirut. But that is high risk. Maybe they will demolish the hospital after it is evacuated. It’s not only the money there. It is also a Command and Control area as far as I know.
-Blinken is in Israel. Had over two hours with Bibi. Came to say :”Don’t attack Iran, end the war in Gaza, end the war in Lebanon.” This man really needs another job. A complete failure. I have no idea what Bibi had to do with him for so long?
Maybe Bibi is pressing to get cooperation on a strike on the nuclear sites in Iran.
-The IDF finally confirmed the death of the assigned successor of Hezbollah. They now got his body out. The strike was a couple of weeks ago. In the same strike also the head of Intel of Hezbollah was killed and some 14-16 high officers.
-A report from the high levels of the IDF that they can be done with the operations in Lebanon in a few weeks.
This is actually wrong. Pushing Hezbollah 2.5 miles back is not going to handle the safety of the citizens. As a reminder Hamas invaded South Israel on 10/7 up to 13.5 miles. I think that Bibi will use the opportunity to get Hamas shrink so bad till the Lebanese government will take control. I think he is playing a Chess with the Biden Administration. We do have a problem with some of the higher levels of the IDF. Some need to go. Those who were responsible for the failure of 10/7.

I don’t know because people have adopted evil as their preferred religion but, if they saw what is actually taking place in a spiritual sense when abortion is the transaction, vs. birth, it might change thinking. Again, I’m not convinced it would. The path to heaven and hell are operational, the stumbling block is Jesus. When a person stumbles over him it is the conviction that they feel for their chosen separation, sin. Some run to God most run away in shame and guilt, to something worse.
The angels, God, are tasked with moving our love, our desire, to God. There is no limit to Gods ability except our free will. He will use the sinful nature itself to turn our focus, we all have seen it. Beauty for ashes! Evil is twisted, it is Gods love and power diverted. There is no other power just the twisting of our perceptions, all done by Lucifer. Abortions are the sacraments to him.
Can you even imagine the weight of one innocent child aborted by a mother? That life attached to her, completely vulnerable and full of Gods unconditional love for her. A helpless life, an immeasurable gift from God to a chosen person, “chosen”. And to see it as a spirit? No hate, no judgement, just love for the mother, and she meets it after she leaves this body. Moms know the gift. I would imagine it would break you or harden someone so hard that they could not see forgiveness.

The fear is amazement that one is saved, rather than lost. It’s like the slight shiver you get on top of a spectacularly beautiful vista when you notice the cliff a few feet away and realized that you might have slipped off of it and fallen to your death. Or when you turn your head sharply, causing a bullet to miss you just barely and a few minutes later your knees almost buckle when you think about it 🙂
Number 1 for me has always been gratitude. It’s the underrated component of worship and of other aspects of life. Yes, people mention it a fair amount, but not nearly enough. “Reading is fundamental” in education and gratitude is fundamental in life. You have to have an attitude of gratitude!
I believe we must add confession (of our carnal/sinful thoughts, words and deeds) and our expressed repentance to the prayer “recipe.”
1st John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

I was in Wal-Mart yesterday and noticed the frozen Honeysuckle turkeys for 88¢/lb., didn’t know until this morning that it’s a major promotion. I should have bought a couple then but I was buying supplies to bake my donations for the annual church bake sale and I need to rearrange my freezers before I get turkeys. I bought some canned pumpkin at a good price, store brand at $1.17 (15 oz. can). I didn’t notice prices of other traditional Thanksgiving menu items but the article says you can serve 10 for $47.
I hope shoppers remember who was in office when those prices were the norm and vote accordingly!
