Hurricane Milton hit Siesta Key as a cat-3 storm with hurricane winds 35 miles from center, and Milton departs Florida near Cape Canaveral as a cat-1 storm with hurricane winds extending 35 miles from center.
Tampa Bay narrowly avoided a direct hit as Milton made landfall 70 miles south. Milton made landfall near Siesta Key, at 8:30 pm Wednesday as a Category 3 storm. At landfall, the storm was producing maximum sustained winds of 120 mph while moving toward the northeast at 15 mph.
As the sun rise Hurricane Milton leaves a wake of tremendous damage behind him across the entire state. Assessments are now being made.
At 500 AM EDT (0900 UTC), the center of Hurricane Milton was located near latitude 28.5 North, longitude 80.5 West. Milton is moving toward the northeast near 18 mph (30 km/h) and this general motion is expected to continue today, followed by a turn toward the east tonight. On the forecast track, the center of Milton will move away from Florida and to the north of the Bahamas today.
Maximum sustained winds are near 85 mph (140 km/h) with higher gusts. Gradual weakening is expected, but Milton is forecast to become a powerful extratropical low tonight. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 205 miles (335 km). (more)
If you are in the area let us know how you are doing.

My son in Estero posted that he is safe. He has not reported on damage yet.
The Tropicana Field in Tampa suffered extensive damage, with the roof destroyed.
Prayers sent for the people of Florida.
Remember Katrina when the brainiacs used the New Orleans Super Dome for a shelter?
Super Dome did fine as a shelter. Problem was poorly designed and maintained levee system.
Glad to hear from you, SD. Thankful that it weakened from the cat-5 beast that it was in the gulf. Time to look into donating again.
I have friends in Port St. Lucie and they are safe. The major damage was north and south of their place. It seems Fort Pierce really got hammered. From what I remember of it, most of the homes were old Florida wooden structures and trailers.
Glad your peeps are safe. Apparently, daughter’s house is wood and brick mix…
Daughter’s house took a tornado hit…in St. Lucie proper…
Life, limb, eyesight…liberty. Everything else is replaceable. Thankful those remain intact!
Absolutely…
As long as your loved ones are safe, that is a blessing. I don’t think anyone going through an event like a tornado or their loved ones who have to agonize from a distance got much sleep last night.
God is good to us….
Milton spawned a record # of tornadoes for a hurricane that caused massive damage and deaths. But, the storm surge was less than feared it could have been.
Very sorry. Praying for Port St Lucie. What a hideous day yesterday!
I’m so sorry your daughter has to go through that. It must have been terribly frightful. Glad she is ok!
I live in Viera West, a suburb of Melbourne, on the west side of I-95, about 15 miles west of the Atlantic Ocean. MILTON passed just a few miles north of my home.
No flooding in my community.
No wind damage to my home.
Never lost power.
Now just waiting for the backside of MILTON to pass. Gonna get a lot of rain for the next few hours, but the worst has passed.
Glad things are looking ok for you…
Praise the Lord!!
We might be neighbors 😉 excellent report… same here in Wyndham
My BIL and SIL are in Palm Bay. Power out a few times but, no damage. Praise God. Prayers and thoughts for those less fortunate. We love you all
Hey Neighbor, I’m in Malabar. For the non-local, this is a just south of Melbourne. Lots of wind, no damage at our place. never lost power. Tree branch took out my neighbors line to the his house. No tornados in our area. Minimal rain, usually my 3 acres is one big pond. so just the normal wet spots after a rainstorm. There are random significant power outages in Palm Bay that I noticed yesterday.
My son and grandchildren live in Sebastian (Indian River), and other than lots of debris and wind, they are fine this morning. Didn’t lose power at all. They say there’s lots of wind.
Amen…glad all seems to be ok…
Harbor Castle has power! Neighbor’s trail cam on the river showed not worse than Helene at about 1 am
Live in St. Petersburg, and left Tuesday to go to Panama City. Was going to leave Friday but just heard that St. Petersburg has no water and they don’t want people on the roads because of all the debris. Haven’t heard anything from Duke Energy about me losing power so that is a good sign. There were 50 linemen from Texas who showed up at my hotel last night who had just come down from Valdosta Georgia. The other sister hotels around here have over 500 linemen booked into rooms, so they are doing everything to restore power who lost it.
First time I had ever left for a hurricane.
✝️❤️🇺🇸
Or they wouldn’t be running.
God bless Mr. Edison….
…and Daimler, Diesel, and Ford, for the internal combustion engines that don’t need electricity (beyond a short jolt from a battery)…..
😎😎
….Else those line repair trucks would be useless.
God bless all the guys like you, GB, who understand how stuff under the hood works and enjoy tinkering with engine stuff to keep them running!
I will happily fix you a sandwich and serve it to you with a nice cold beer!! 💖
Thank you so much, Catherine. I know we have several Treepers who are mechanically capable and knowledgeable about “how stuff under the hood works”, as you so aptly put it.
Exactly.

I know one of those lineman, great guy.
If you want help from FEMA, just hang out your pride flag
Funny but I suspect there may be some truth to that statement.
The crew that was operating that helicopter have been grounded.

My sil in N Ft Myers reports they did not lose power, which is amazing. My niece in Naples did lose power. No comments from either regarding damage or flooding. We’re thankful.
Hope you hear something soon!
Am in north fort myers. No power ,trees down, fences down. Manufactured home lost siding. Other than that I am very thankful.
Our Lord saved us again! First Irma, Ian,Debby, helene, now Milton.
I am blessed
Hey guys…
southbound road reports and fuel availability comments would be greatly appreciated. specifically The Turnpike, I-95 areas towards St. Lucie…
I’m not down there currently, but I suggest you post this question on some of the Fort Pierce Facebook pages. Ask if the WaWa at I95 at Fort Pierce exit has gas. They have a 2nd location US1/Virginia Ave. Good place to start.
I hope your trip goes well.
Also, both the I95 & Sunshine State Parkway exit on the same street/location. The 1st WaWa is immediately o the right. Keep going on same road and you’ll come to US1 and 2nd WaWa is on the left side corner.
Jax area has plenty reserve fuel per the mayor.
I’d like to request same on 75-S.
‘Bama country is lovely… but I only planned to stay for the wkd & have headed home on Mon/Tue. I didn’t want to risk not finding gas on the way down with a very old pup on board + really didn’t want to greet Milton! 😉
Coming to last Fri PM, I took the panhandle route & it was smooth sailing the whole way (*just fyi for anyone, as I wasn’t sure post-Helene… but figured better option over GA route).
Meanwhile, my ph’s been telling me I’m in “Milton”, GA all week?! I’m no where near & never heard of… but I took it as a sign to avoid!
Hoping all FL Treepers are safe & sound!

This is what the news recommends in SFL to find gas stations with gas.
Thank you!
Maximum sustained winds of 85. If that’s the storm of a generation I’ll eat my hat.
Fake news did not change their stripes overnight. Occurred to me yesterday that Milton provided a full week news cycle blackout for any stories on Isreal, Ukraine and most importantly Kamala.
Today is aftermath stories. Tomorrow is discussing the weekend. Then back to another boogeyman to distract again next week.
Fake News did a great job focusing on Milton and not Commiela’s “media blitz” that was a disaster for her.
I wondered about that. There seemed to be a lot of red the graphics guy was coloring over the hurricane. Like urgently, way more than in the past.
Because the weather channel since Katrina produces nothing but weather porn. The day the “real” one hits nobody will believe them. All this has been done on purpose.
“nobody will believe them”,….
A follow up report and private memo by an official at the Nat. Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami told his mgmt that due to all the previous ‘over-hyped’ hurricane Watch/Warnings announced for the 20 years prior to Hurricane Camille,….. many residents of the MS Gulf Coast did not evac went they were given the NHC update at 5pm,… about 5 hours before Camille roared ashore, that announced that she would hit with 180 mph winds and a storm surge of 15-25′. People were shocked and freaked by this report.
Those residents had never seen or even heard of such a massive, deadly storm but the dire warning came far to late to run.
This man, who said he would get slammed for his memo that encouraged the NHC to change it’s policy on Watches/Warnings, tried to tell them. Did they listen,… I doubt it. At least he tried and later his memo became public as part of the Camille records at Aoml/Noaa.gov.
To give a perspective on Camille, per the AOMAL/NOAA reports,…an Oil Company employee stationed on a Oil platform near the eye as Camille passed, about 40 miles south of the MS Gulf Coast, reported that Camille was driving waves in his area of 70 feet in height.
Such wave heights had never been recorded or known of prior to Camille.
The NHC came under a lot of fire post Camille,.. and rightly so. Lives were lost due to typical CYA Bureaucratic thinking. Almost 150 lives were lost on the MS Gulf Coast by Camille.
The only meteorologist anywhere that called it right, about 12 hours prior to Camille hitting the Coast, was in NOLA, a Mr. Nash Roberts, who was not only a local network TV affiliate Weatherman, but his primary job was working for the Oil/Gas Industry to help his clients protect their expensive platforms and personnel in the Gulf from dangerous weather.
I write all of this, Cuz, I heard Nash’s report that morning on TV and called my father at his Ice Plant, and Yeah, he was freaked and took immediate emergency actions to prepare for perhaps the worst hurricane to hit since the 1900 Storm that killed 6-8K people in Galveston, TX.. (A ship’s captain in the Caribbean Sea that had experienced the hurricane there,.. He radioed a warning to Galveston that it was headed their way,…. that was not headed.)
Forewarned is forearmed,…. when it come to hurricanes in the Gulf of MX.!
I also heard the NHC’s latest dire update on TV at 5 pm that day,… to late to act,… but only to hunker down in dread and fear.
I remember Camille, 1969. It tore up the whole coast in TX.
This was a Cat5 storm.
There’s no way to know 100% where and when and at what strength it ultimately hits. Although I agree with the general premise regarding the media, I believe that in this case the coverage was warranted.
Had the wind sheer to the north held off just a few hours more or the dry air not come in from the western side when it did, this could have been much much more catastrophic. Thankful it wasn’t, and respectfully disagree with this comment. People’s lives were at stake. Some few did die.
So encouraging to hear of folks loved ones safe. Clean-up efforts are dangerous also. Pray for everyones safety as they regroup, and rescuers help them.
My brother texted me from his job at Chevron Refinery in Pascagoula to inform that his daughter, a Tampa Sheriff Deputy was off duty, at home with the lights flickering,.. and Safe, late last night.
Thank the lord,…. she is a smart, tall, blue eyed, blond beautiful woman that our entire family adores. She stopped her Med Sch training at Ole Miss to go into Law Enforcement,.. go figure, but to each their own.
Texted him back that her biggest threat may be today,… when she reports for duty and may have to confront looting criminals.
Bro said she’s locked/loaded and knows her job. Best of luck to her, with my prayers for her safety.
I have family near Orlando. Haven’t been able to reach them. Wondering if cell service is down there????
Just heard from our daughter near Orlando. They are okay and they have power.
Sister in Orlando reports better than expected. Winter Springs/ Oviedo area. No damage no loss of power. Palm Bay niece reports no damage, no loss of power just debris from huge oak tree… I’d say they all dodged a bullet.
Our niece is near Orlando. She has cell service but power has been sporadic. Was headed out this morning to assess damage.
I’m in Lake County north of Orlando. Sprint and T-Mobile aren’t “down” for my folks and neighbors, but say “emergency calls only”.
I’m on AT&T using the phone as a WiFi hotspot, as we have no power since 9:30 last night.
Good to see you here, Taq. Did your aunts/relatives who were planning a visit arrive ok?
Flight cancelled, arriving Sunday afternoon instead.
Good info from Desantis…Thank you Sundance…thank you.
My son is just East of Orlando on Merritt Island. He reports no damage and no loss of power. Lots of strong wind and rain. Still Cat 1 now. Retired Army moved from Colorado to Florida to get away from snow and tornadoes. 😀. Spent 20+ years in missile systems technology and now loves watching from his front porch all the rockets blasting into space from Cape Canaveral! Prayers for everyone in Florida.
I ws shocked just now to see Acapulco destroyed no news of that anywhere, no Lithium underneath so not important to cover? thank you Sundance and have a great day everyone be safe
Viera/Melbourne area dodged a bullet. Less rain and wind than expected… branches down… debris from trees… still have power. Relatives in area reported same result… we got lucky/blessed … tornadoes stayed away for thankfully… others to the south not so fortunate… could have been WAY worse here. 🙏 for those less fortunate ❤️
Bradenton here, a smidge east of I-75, Exit 220. Local family and a friend came to stay with me. Friends home too close to coastline and daughters home is frame construction. Lost power about 8pm, landfall time. 7 of us together made the most of it. Power not restored yet but generator is running. Everyone is safe and uninjured. Praise God! Lost a couple of trees, those that didn’t fall are strpped naked, lanai is in tatters, downspouts gone, but house held! Debris everywhere, looks like a war zone. Blessed beyond measure!
Good report. Glad everyone is safe. The rest can be repaired.
Bradenton here also. Just west of I75. Same situation as Yaya. Several big trees down. No power since 7pm last night. Thankfully have a 16 kw Generac and (full) 500 gal propane tank. No damage to block house. Roof redone a few years ago with “wind mitigation” upgrades. Surprisingly the lanai cage is completely intact. Can’t get out yet as driveway is blocked. Everybody is fine: 4 humans, 3 dogs and 4 horses. Thanks to the Lord.
🙏
I watched Ryan Hall livestream last night. Tornadoes caused multiple fatalities in St. Lucie county…it was one after another.
I was watching that too. That livestream likely saved lives!!
Ryan Hall, Y’all
on YouTube
I’ll be watching that for every future Hurricane.
Just now heard from relatives in Ft Myers – Said all OK and they did not leave. They suffered tremendous damage last storm. They deserved a break… 🙂
JAX/ST Augustine area.
Never lost power.
Live in an area that is surrounded by flood zones but itself is not one. No issues with flooding or surge.
Power never went out though it did for friends 15 mis away.
Heavy rainfall was main issue but no apparent issues with that either – surveying the local landscape.
Fell asleep at 0100. Missed all the action.
Could hear heavy traffic on I-95 all night long.
So, fairly benign from our location. Been through many hurricanes. The deal is once one decides to hunker down about two days prior you are committed. There are few to no options at that point. Think at this point I’m gonna start a $100/mo emergency fund so our family can exit stage left for 3-4 days. Stress reduction management as it were.
Per SD, cash is king in an emergency. Keep it in a safe place until needed.
I’m in Ormond Beach on the east coast. The storm is pretty much out of here as I write. Locally I don’t see any damage…the more southerly track helped us here. No power loss.
Thomas… I’m your neighbor! Aside from losing power and some fencing we’re feeling relieved. We evacuated to LPGA to be closer to my son and his family but found things fairly quiet when we got back today.
Pleasure to meet you!
Here on east coast damage was mostly from tornadoes.
Never lost power, that is a miracle, was out for 14 days and then 11 days in 2004 season.
Got real lucky biggest thing at house was a few avocados got plucked a week or so early.
Getting reports from ranch in Ft Meade, eye went over it once again, couple trees down, bunch of limbs, power out, generator doing what it’s paid to do.
Cows and horses all good.
Hope others can say the same.
i live in sebastian and other than tree debris, have power and water. still windy and no rain. just took pics of neighbors’ homes who live out of state so they know extent of impact. so far all is well here.
What we have witnessed is a bonafide miracle. The power of prayer at work. We were not foolish enough to think we could pray a storm away but if we could just weaken it enough and sap it’s power before landfall that would be awesome. It appears that the storm was much less damaging than anticipated and that is a HUGE relief to all of us here in FL and all of our families friends and neighbors. We give all the Glory to God and thank all of you who prayed. God Bless America
This!
Sundance are you saying This!! is where its at? Praying? United as Believers across this country? ???? What is “This” . I am sincerely asking. You have been such a beacon of light for me and the people I have influence with. You are answered prayer! who knew? Peace and Love Sundance…(I sent my son down in FL your prep list!! EXCELLENT info!! peace, faith & love
Amen!!! Yes ALL Glory to God!!! Yes it was a bonafide miracle!!!!!!
Amen 🙏
Daughter in Orange county, no power, no internet, cell phone iffy.
People hunkered down in Bradenton not too far from beach – all ok. Say not to much damage. Modern storm resistant home, sits up, home generator.
Leesburg Florida (Lake County). Relentlessly wind and rain battered. Retained power and Internet – no noticable damage to house or vehicles, large limbs down on our property, but trees remain upright.
Grateful to God for His provision of safety and care.
I hope everybody is safe. I’m still furious about how my fellow North Carolinians have. been treated by our traitorous federal government.
Good Morning!! God is faithful! He answered our prayers. I do not understand all the events taking place these days, but I know that God is all powerful and loving. Those that seek to destroy humanity were disappointed their plans did not go far enough. I pray for God to eliminate their abilities to cause such devastation. I hope ALL of us will have our eyes opened to their evil intents. For now I will humbly give thanks to a Might God who spared so many. Thank you Elohim, Yeshua, Creator of this magnificent earth, and humanity. Amen Amen Amen Amen!!
Praise God – Amen!
Very fortunate in Ponte Vedra. We have power and all seems well. Thank God!
Thank the Lord Almighty for rebuking Hurricane Milton and giving the folks in Florida a reprieve.
I heard from my family outside of Tampa. The only damage was a fence that was blown down. They have small children and sheltered in place. I am so thankful they made it!
We have family in Zephyrhills area. Roads flooded and impassable. They still have power and no bad wind damage.
I was whispering prayers and I believe all of America was. We need to give a huge thanks to God here.
DD
I have family in Zephyrhills and cannot reach them this morning. Thank you for this comment from that area.
Just heard from family in Zephyrhills. They had to find a road and drive a little to get cell service. Now back and will stay put. Roads are flooded. Some cars in apartment complexes are almost completely underwater in the parking lot if in a low area. Some wind damage. All okay but said very scary and too close. Even though they were not in a mandatory evacuation zone, they will NOT stay for the next one. Will get out. They would have left for this one but couldn’t find gas and tried since Monday afternoon, including runs in the middle of the night hoping for refueling. No gas. They are all okay but it scared them nearly to death! The gas shortage was a problem for evacuations.
We live in San Antonio, Florida, near Zephyrhills. Thank you for your hurricane reports. Our neighbors sent us photos of our area this morning. (We are currently visiting our daughter and family in Maryland). There was little storm damage and no loss of power.
Home of the rattlesnake round-up.
This is not intended as criticism–just wondering if Floridians may begin to get some 5-gal gas cans loaded and ready as a standard precaution once the calendar gets into August each year?
Have them ready in case….and if they’re not needed, go ahead and use them up over the winter and refill, so the gas is always fresh…..
I suppose those in apartments, etc. might be forbidden from having such on hand, but anyone who has a freestanding garage/their own property should be able to do it.
Yes. We thought of that. True that in most apartments there is no storage. Could maybe store with friends and just keep empty until possible emergency. By the way, my Zephyrhills family lost power and it is still out as far as I know. No word from them tonight.
I heard from a high school friend who lives in Sarasota in zone C and had to evacuate to a friend’s house. She returned home to find one roof leak and the lanai still standing. She said University Parkway is a mess looked like the storm went straight down that road. She’s not a Christian but I texted her Praise the Lord for answered prayers! I asked if she had power and haven’t heard back.
We are in Lake Placid, Our electricity is off and we got about 70 mile an hour winds. The brunt of the storm went north of us. A mobile home park here got hit by a tornado. We had 4 tornado warnings going on at one time.
What are the thoughts of this hurricane affecting the voting November 5th?
Will people be able to get to the polls?
My guess, no impact for 99% of those impacted in FL
Wish I could say the same for NC.
Halfway between Tampa and Orlando along I-4 corridor. No house damage, small limbs covering the yard, wood fence down. Never lost power. Walked the neighborhood an hour ago and pretty much the same level of damage. Checked on a few elderly folks, all seem fine.
God is great.
Hurricane Milton blew the roof off of Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg – quite a bit north of landfall.
Nassau County, NE FL here. Thankful to report this was more of a nor’easter for us. After Helene’s glancing blow we took all precautions and were prepared for all eventualities. A miracle indeed, Silas!
I live in Port Charlotte, FL. About 33 miles south of Siesta Key. I had max sustained winds, at 43mph. With gusts to 78mph. No surge. A few branches down. They buried our power lines a few months ago. I never lost power. Though it flickered a bit. Very blessed. However, Punta Gorda, 2 miles south of me, got some very bad storm surge. After just cleaning up the surge from Helene. Pray for them.
Have a friend in Palm Bay, south of Melbourne. Dealing with cancer. Anyone have any info on damage to that city?
A day late, but did not see a reply soo – Generally Palm Bay area was has minimal damage. There are areas without power thought. I was surprised last night to see major shopping/strip mall dark last night on a major road. Yesterday afternoon, drove around a little and saw several streets lights not working – no power. On Friday, FPL is showing 44K people without power in Brevard County. Hope you friend is well
I heard from family on north side of Tampa. Flooding where it’s never flooded before, not homes floating down river, but rose several inches inside their home. They have a big retention pond adjacent, with land rise between. They went out in middle of the storm to dig a half dozen ditches through land rise so their property could drain. They were in a bowl, street drainage grate needed to be cleared, too, debris blocked it, part of reason they ended up flooded.
No power. But they have generator.
“Emergency teams assessing conditions after Hurricane Milton slams Sarasota, Manatee”
https://www.heraldtribune.com/story/weather/hurricane/2024/10/10/emergency-teams-assess-safety-after-flooding-high-winds-by-milton/75583076007/
Mom and Aunt in Sarasota a few miles inland from Siesta Key. Have power. Doing well. Haven’t heard from brother yet. Same area but cell tower may be down.
After MTGs’ statement, and then the the Alex Jones presentation on the topic ( Who I have always considered a bit kooky ) I am now thinking that yes, indeed, it is possible and likely these storms may and are manipulated.
The interview cited a company that could guarantee a clear weather wedding day for $100,000.00 and many others going back to Viet-Nam.
Was this storm manipulated? The last one did not follow a natural path.
The implications are interesting.
I can only say for certain that it bears consideration.
Hurricane Milton exposes just how pernicious the left is to our country.
The following should be sent to all the “woke” companies out there peddling their DEI:
