As anticipated, Tropical Storm Milton is now Hurricane Milton with top winds of 80 mph. In the past 24 hrs., Milton slowed down a bit, wobbled a little south, and gained strength about a half-day earlier than predicted. The probability cone shifted a little south and the center consensus is now just south of Tampa in the Sarasota area.
As mentioned last night, this storm is going to be unique in contrast of condition between the areas immediately North and South of the storm. There are far too many variables for any accurate assessment at the moment; however, all interests should pay close attention. As a result of the slowing, the prudent evacuation timeline has moved from Tuesday morning to Tuesday afternoon.
(NHC) – At 100 PM CDT (1800 UTC), the center of Hurricane Milton was located by an Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft near latitude 22.5 North, longitude 94.0 West. Milton is moving toward the east near 6 mph (9 km/h), and this general motion is expected today. An eastward to east-northeastward motion is forecast on Monday, followed by a faster northeastward motion on Tuesday and Wednesday.
On the forecast track, Milton is forecast to move north of the Yucatan Peninsula and to move across the Gulf of Mexico and approach the west coast of the Florida Peninsula by midweek.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 80 mph (130 km/h) with higher gusts. Milton is forecast to rapidly intensify during the next couple of days and become a major hurricane on Monday. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 20 miles (30 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km) from the center. (link)

Every day and night!
Yes!🙏❤️ Non stop!❤️🙏
All Americans need to prepare.
Now.
Immediately.
Everybody needs to be ready for anything.
Cash on hand
Shelf stable food.
Plenty of potable water.
Remember that only a small percentage of Americans have emergency supplies on hand.
100%
Backup power, lighting, cooking and comms.
Means of self defense, network with trusted relatives, friends and neighbors.
Most of all, pray.
Guns and bullets cause when people run out of food/zwater
They are coming for yours
You may need to protect your families
Gobermnt ain’t gonna help! Proven!
And that’s just as well
Ain’t that the Truth!!!!
You hit the 🎯 !!!!!
Agreed — by inches, over these last 100 years of conditioning, the Gobermnt has habituated us to “listening to the experts” and giving up our pioneer spirit whereby our native due diligence once helped us to wrangle our challenges.
I figure that the first BIG blow to our independence was FDR’s 1935 SS Act, which was purchased on the heels of the Great Depression crisis.
“Hi. I’m from the Gubmt and I’m here to help”
And it was an easy sell, wasn’t it?
Give ’em an inch and they’ll take a mile.
When seconds count, well, you know the rest…
I’ve thought of this almost hourly during this past week.
I just rented an SUV. I had not done the math on 4 cat carriers inside a sedan in a Cat 4! Plus a rowdy pitbull mix, survival gear and plastic boxes of critical paperwork!
The single cab pickup will survive and if she don’t, it was a good run. I wonder if Port Saint Joe is still messed up..
be safe my friend. God be with you and your precious cargo.
Amen, sister! Many thanks, SC!
Good Luck to you, your family, and your fur family! Stay safe!
Thanks Turtle! I will!
If you get in a bind, come up further North.
Just got back to east coast, got ranch in Bartow area secured as much as a ranch can be.
Will spend tomorrow securing place here.
End of week will be back to ranch to see how that survives.
Please stay safe all.
Be safe bro.
🙏❤️🇺🇲
If you have any access to higher ground for your pickup, to avoid high water, maybe you can get a friend to help you leave it at a good spot. Where I always leave extra vehicles during a ‘cane, is somewhere in the clear of anything falling, but with treelines at a distance on as many sides as you can. The trees cut the wind way down and also flying debris.
Good fortune to you!
And don’t include help from the Government in your plans.
sElections can be “hurricanes” as well, CYA 30 days to go
👍🇺🇲❤️
God be with them one & all.
Very fast spin up. Moving with the wind. Anyone looked at tide charts for time of impact?
Water temps at Sarasota Fl at 86 degrees. Warm water all the way in.
High tide for Lemon Bay {Sarasota Co} for Wed is 4:48 am and Thurs am is 5:47 am, 1.8 and 1.7 respectively.
Tides not as much of a factor as which side of Charlotte Harbor gets the ‘dirty’ side of the storm.
Rode out Ian in Englewood.
Ian did not have a ‘clean’ side.
Manasota Key is still a mess as with most Gulf Coast beaches.
Trust God. Fear not.
And payday is Tues…..
Don’t like the setup on this one, just a gut feel from 32 years in Florida.
I damn sure don’t like it. I am still in shock over the Harris biden Appalachian Armageddon.
If Tampa takes another beating gas will be hard to get, if Crystal River gets smoked, no power for half the State. (the 51st State just received beaucoup power plant parts, back home Duke says parts to fix damaged power plants are facing “supply chain issues”).
The real problem I see is too many people trying to evacuate at once. And evacuate to where?
Sweet Home Alabama, here comes a whole buncha Florida!
🙏❤️🇺🇲
Ryan Hall shows a model that predicts a Cat5 developing that almost immediately diminishes to a Cat2 or Cat1 after landfall.
That’s the good news.
However, the wind field is predicted to be fairly large upon approach.
Still best to be prepared to evacuate as needed.
Stay safe.
Helene has caused me to focus some attention onto my preps. I live in So Cal so the highest probability big threat is that of a massive earthquake. At least that is what I discuss with my wife while I go about (like today) reviewing my preparations. There are other threat that can occur but when discussing “prepping” that is the one that makes the most sense to the average person.
I just got done assessing my household goods supplies and first aid (home and auto). When my wife gave me “that look” I just said to her, “You know who isn’t laughing today about being prepared? The people of Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee.” I don’t just prepare for a massive earthquake to help us, but because there are so many folks that don’t take it serious, I have to prepare to help others”.
That shut her right the hell up.
In situations where one may need to evacuate in a hurry, have vehicle gassed up packed with essentials and valuable papers, etc. ready to go immediately. Don’t forget weapons.
Nowadays I don’t go below a 1/2 tank. Papers are in a fireproof safe w/ carrying handle.
Armed and trained.
And I might add, knowledgeable about use of force guidelines. This is important because in California the law doesn’t look favorably at deadly force.
I would advise everyone armed or considering arming to train and know the law.
I do not know any individual in my immediate neighborhood who has prepared for anything. However, I’m certain that there must be some people around here who are keeping their prepping activities well hidden in secret from others.
There is something pathological about a huge civilian population who refuses to prepare and most of whom mock those that do prepare.
That pathology has one root in Tipper Gore, who famously declared that we should all hunker down in emergencies and wait for the government to tell us what to do.
My wife isn’t a Libtard idiot but she isn’t MAGA either. She is a very special person who I love dearly and so I prep DESPITE her and at the same time FOR HER.
Even if society goes off the cliff it will be nice to hear her say “l am so glad you saved all this for us”..
That’s a name I haven’t heard in years!!!
Her biggest contribution to history: “Parental Advisory” stickers on music and comedy albums. As a teenager it was like a big sign pointing to the *good* stuff. 😆
I didn’t own very many tapes, CDs or vinyl without one on the cover back then either come to think of it!
I remember that! Too funny!
My neighborhood is a MAGA oasis so know I’m not the only one, but the majority are clueless as C-19 proved.
That said, I look after the elderly that can’t take care of themselves.
Daily our army-of-the-awakened grows; with each brutal pounding our ranks surge.
May God be praised.
I wonder if there are a fair number of people who have done at least a moderate amount of preparation but they choose not to advertise it. If the manure does hit the oscillating appliance, it’s better for the Lemmings to not have any idea of where to go, IMHO!
100%. You don’t want anyone to know what you have in the event the catastrophe is long term.
However for me, if the situation is short term in nature I will be banding together with neighbors to help those in need.
It’s what I did during lockdowns and people who are not able to help themselves need help.
Absolutely! And I do have people in my life, and in my neighborhood, who are not able to make a lot of preparations and I am happy to help them.
But for the people who have mocked those of us who have expressed concerns, they’re on their own! I have no interest in them having any idea what provisions I have, because I have no intention of sharing with them!
“I’m certain that there must be some people around here who are keeping their prepping activities well hidden in secret from others…”
Exactly. NONE of my neighbors knows a single thing about my prepping. A few years ago, I did a stringent cleanup of my single car garage so I could park my car inside, all the time, instead of sort of using the garage as an extension of house like most of the neighborhood does. I unload purchases only after the garage door is shut. No one knows about my preparations or my supplies.
I don’t trust them.
Too many of them are (for sure–this is central Oregon not too far from I-5, 40 miles south of Portland) lefty know-it-alls. To risk even general conversation about such things is not in my plans.
I have extraction plans deveoloped with family. They have established a good tribe of mules who have acreage. It’s all good.
But I absolutely keep my prepping to myself. Even some of the self-identified “conservatives” who are neighbors are so clueless and foolish. They believe what people in authority (including HOA) tell them about anything. AND THEY HAVE ALEXA/SIRI WORKING IN THEIR HOUSE. And they talk to it. Once I realized they actually did that, about a year ago, I have not set foot in their house since.
The companies who manufacture, monitor, and maintain those things have acknowledged in press releases that they are prone to “accidentally recording conversations in the house”. Yeah. Right.
Where does one find a reliable source of info for what and how to prep?
mypatriotsupply they have very good articles on their website too.
Sundance has provided much info on this subject. Here is one that I bookmarked:

Off-topic hurricane, on-topic earthquake:
Cali is having a bid swarm of smaller quakes. In Cali, make sure you have one of these gas shutoff valves attached to your gas line by a registered plumber. Usually you have to pull an easy-peasy permit from your city.
https://www.littlefirefighter.com/gas-shutoff-valves/
Then go door to door meeting all your neighbors and see if they have one.
Can save a neighborhood post-quake inferno, and these are high quality.
The city recently mandated installation of one before all home sales, but existing owners are grandfathered in and don’t have to get one. Good way to BBQ yourself and neighbors, with prevailing Cali coastal west winds.
We had only two holdouts in Mom’s neighborhood. One was an 85-ish antisocial survivalist hermit woodworker, and the other was an 85-ish Jewish couple I’ve known my whole life, (the engineer husband said, “if the quake’s strong enough to break my gas valve then I’m dead anyway, so ‘no, thank you.'”).

This update by Ryan Hall is excellent, he shows a few different models. Some have Milton strengthening to a Cat 5 above Yucatán. Thankfully, all show some weakening as it approaches FL – around Cat 1 to Cat 2/3 at landfall.
He does a good job explaining the fear on social media – the more fear the poster makes you feel, the more money they can make depending on their motives (sell a product, views, etc). Prepare for a Cat 5 and hope for extreme weakening as it approaches. Don’t be afraid, prepare and evacuate early.
The only issues with the weakening is the wind field gets larger and depending on eye location could have catastrophic storm surge issues for Tampa.
I think by tomorrow evening/early Tuesday the cone of land fall will narrow to the point where the landfall will be known +/- ~50ish miles (my best wildest a@& guess of the range).
It seems to me that the coast of Africa is the problem here!
Thanks E, will bookmark this guy for future reference.

I subscribe to his channel. Ryan Hall is a very good guy in many ways. Wise. Expert. Compassionate. Reasonable.
He often partners with another young meteorologist, Andy Hill, who is excellent. Each of them have complete teams in their home location(s) but they frequently combine their efforts when there are big weather systems, including blizzards and tornados….to give widest coverage and warnings possible. Both very fine young men.
Evacuation orders already issued for Anna Maria Island, parts of Manatee County and Pinellas County.
Storm surge worse than Helene anticipated.

Worst case is if the eyewall passes over Clearwater/Tarpon Springs; that will push the maximum possible storm surge into Tampa Bay. McDill AFB is three feet above sea level so try and picture a 10 -20 foot or more storm surge into Tampa Bay. (On second thought, don’t do that.)

I do NOT claim to be knowledgeable about hurricanes but I don’t ever recall seeing one forming in this area of the gulf and then moving eastward…don’t they normally form in the Atlantic and then move northward and/or westward?
I was thinking the same thing, vikingmom. Also not familiar with one starting in the Pacific, crossing the Mexican peninsula, and then strengthening across Gulf of Mexico. Lord have mercy, the “conspiracy theories” becoming foregone conclusions is exhausting. One just never can be too sure the origins – what’s Spiritual Warfare, what’s manmade, and what’s natural – they ALL are the WRATH of GOD when the demonic are allowed to land punches.
MANY hurricanes originate out in the Atlantic but not ALL
Found an article and map of all hurricanes since 2016 showing many originating in the Gulf
Caption says “developed into a depression”, so Gulf ones wouldn’t include depressions from the Atlantic that simply reached hurricane intensity in the Gulf, the way I read it
For what it’s worth
Here’s Where Every Hurricane That Made Landfall in the U.S. Since 1966 Began Its Journey | The Weather Channel
Plotted is where every hurricane that made landfall in the mainland U.S. originally developed into a depression or storm since 1966.
Sorry, Nim… I may have misspoke.. I do understand that hurricanes form in the gulf…. lived in S Texas 8 years… but thought I heard one of these hurricanes started in pacific and jumped across the Mexican Peninsula and re-energized in the warm waters of the Gulf. Maybe I’m totally off base, but thought that once they hit land they peeter out. Who knows… I don’t get enough sleep in my life and frankly the entire world is simply confusing. Can’t trust anything we read anymore online and only half of what we see with our own eyes!
I wasn’t intending to single you out specifically, J, I’ve seen several people discussing this topic the past few days and had a phone call from my sister today insisting on HAARP weather control because ‘all hurricanes come from Africa’ but Helene didn’t
so I looked around a bit … it took about a dozen failed hits on keywords until I came across this one article with a map that’s pretty clear about the issue and I figured more Treepers should see it
thanks for replying
In the book of Genesis 1: 26, “and let them Rule over…. all the earth.” God gave Adam the Rule but when Adam fell, he handed over the Rule of the earth to Satan Genesis 2: 19. “By the sweat of your brow….to dust you will return.” In the book of Job, if read carefully, there are four areas of power Satan has, thanks to Adam, although under God’s ultimate control, of course. The four areas are: 1. evil inclinations to our fellow beings Job 1: 15, 2. weather phenomenon Job 1; 16 [lightening] and 19 [wind], 3. death Job 1: 17 and 19, and 4. health Job 2: 7. In 2Thessalonians 2:5-7, we are told that the “one” or Holy Spirit holds Satan back. As we get closer to the 2nd coming the stronger Satan’s influence will become. IMO
Good catch. Thank you.
Gordy, thank you for this. I’ve taken a picture of your comment so I can research this. Interesting reading for sure.
Thanks, JWoo. I was a weather observer for the airport in my area for 14 years and on good nights [I did graveyard shift] I used to spend a lot of my time reading God’s word and taking copious amounts of notes. My Bible is almost shredded and written in all over the place. Went from Genesis to Revelation 5 times throughout those wonderful years. Learned that the Bible is jam packed full of hidden treasure.
There’s a weather guy on YouTube I like in addition to Ryan Hall, it’s Direct Weather (he does daily videos going over the models).
In yesterday’s video (Sat 10/5) he shows all the historic tracks for hurricanes in this area. Very rare, a lot of 1880’s ish tracks.
Here’s the link, the first part shows the historical tracks:
Very interesting! You can hear the forecaster trying to just explain the trajectory, but the doubt in his presentation is pretty obvious! What do you do when you see something very unusual, and frankly suspicious, and your producer is telling you to shut up and not mention it?
Check out Mikes Weather Page. He’s the Daddy. Awesome and so down to earth.
Bookmarked, thanks. I used to have the link but I lost all my bookmarks sideloading the Brave browser update onto my Kindle, and had to start from scratch.

Love Mike.
vickingmom I have lived on the Gulf Coast my whole life and have seen a lot of hurricanes. Never have I seen one travel from west to east! Local news here has been fear-porning Felix for the last week, which as been out in the middle of the Atlantic and will not make landfall in the US. I’m still trying to decide if Helene was “enhanced” by our government. My gut is saying yes, which makes me question the west to east path.
Thank you for your response! Coming from someone who has been there and seen that, I am even more suspicious and concerned!
If you had seen one like this you would be the worlds oldest Bionis-Granny.

This is not helpful info since I can’t remember where I saw/found it.
I’ve been that! obsessed with devouring every first-hand video account of this “event” I think merits my attention.
Some people uploading live video with commentary (from east TN and W NC) allude to or outright say that there’s lithium in them thar hills which one in particular well known WEF mbr has taken an interest in.
Please delete this post if my lack of data points fails to meet the standard by which rumor or hearsay is separated from fact. I’m hoping some younger person with better resources than mine can take the lead in following up on this possible link.
Even I, 1,000 miles away, am troubled by what is unfolding. I have reasons to be concerned about both Asheville and Hendersonville; it’s a slight connection but nevertheless important to me.
Yes, and Kamala’s pretend husband stands to really profit from those mines.
He is a YUGE shareholder.
Truly? I’ll have to research that and gather data, that is, save it for quick reference. 😉
I agree, Granny. Suspicious cat! 😾
Didn’t you listen to the press conference that DeSantis did that is included in Sundance’s post?? It was very informative. He answers your question directly.
I thought it odd too.
Rare, but it does happen. I would say that Gulf hurricanes can often be more unpredictable (harder to accurately forecast the path) than those originating in the Atlantic.
Hurricane tracks generally move in a westerly direction but fronts, highs and other meteorological events can impact it. About 15 years ago a hurricane moved westward following the coast and then turned around and back tracked. I remember that one well because one of my co-workers evacuated his daughter from Tulane just a head of the storm only to have it turn around and follow him (and his daughter) back to Ft Walton Beach. Hurricane can be bloody minded at times.
Central Fl here. I have a 2 week+ supply of canned food , water and other stuff. House prep should be done Tuesday.
Heavenly Father,
Incline Your Ear and offer Your Mercy to Your beloveds and faithful! Father God, Your Will Be Done on earth as it is in Heaven. May the testimonies created by these days and events live on forevermore in the hearts and minds of Your faithful. Bring salvation on the masses and grant Your leniency on the wicked, so that they too shall be saved. Father God, turn them from the errors of their ways. Heal our nation, our people, our lands, and may You be forever praised!
In Jesus’s Holy and Saving Name, AMEN
Amén !
Amen and Holy is thy Name with thanksgiving for all that you are doing and will do for those who love your blessed name in the Appalachians.
How did we get to Milton so fast? Helene, I, J, K, L, then Milton. What did I forget or miss?
Kirk and Leslie are doing nothing in the Atlantic now. I&J don’t know.
In the satellite era many storms get named that no one would’ve ever known existed pre-1970’s/80’s.
Historical comparisons of “named storms” should only be compared to landfalls, that’s the only storms we knew about pre-space era.
Isaac Joyce (my sister’s name- fizzled out)
“Helene” kinda caught me by surprise, because there wasn’t much of anything newsworthy before. Maybe a couple, one of which gave us here in central NC a day or so of heavy rain. Period. Not even much wind to speak of, despite all the local hype.
As a whole, as usual, the annual NOAA hurricane forecast was overrated, especially on major storms.
NOT naysaying the need for caution! Just that the Warmers keep trying and trying and trying to bring the end of the world down on us, and it ain’t happened yet.
That’s funny!
Kirk & Leslie are wimps!
(Thank goodness!)
Tampa here. One thing I’d recommend for anyone in Milton’s path – roll up your rugs and put them on sofa or somewhere high. If water gets in house, soaked rugs are extremely difficult to move. Learned this the hard way about a week or so ago.
I continue praying for ALL affected by these catastrophic events.🙏🏻
I also watched Ryan Hall Y’all. And he took pains to not be an alarmist and still express the possibility of the storm becoming at CAT4, and even a CAT5. His opinion, very understated, was to go ahead and evacuate. The question I have – is Hwy 75 the only way out – and wouldn’t it make sense to evacuate early (Tuesday morning) rather than wait for the rush? Although, how far inland to evacuate is the question.
DeSantis is saying people do not have to drive 500 miles to get out of the way, but that they could evacuate to another county, which is somewhat comforting.
I95 goes right up the East Coast, SR 19 goes up into Kentucky..
US Rte 441 leads into central, then north Georgia.
I-95 is always congested now. I have been in a mass evacuation on the interstate leaving Florida twice for evacuation going to a relatives out of state. It crawls literally for hours upon hours. Getting off the interstate and finding a decent restroom is another headache. I have seen many stranded during an evacuation whose cars ran out of gas, overheated, etc. Plan for the worst, hope for the best.
🙏❤️
People should see if a friend or relative would shelter them, and go there first. Hotels are another option, but they book up and are expensive. I personally don’t want to be locked in a shelter with strangers, but that is another option for those with limited resources or no one to help them. Counties normally announce shelters open for elderly who need oxygen, etc, shelters that take pets, etc.
South across the state to Miami is an option. I-75 goes south and takea a hard left turn (east) to Fort Lauderdale.
BUT, Milton’s actual path is still up in the air. So “south” might not be a good move at all.
This is a terrifying rescue

Love the Treehouse! For what it’s worth, this link was posted in a conservative newsletter I saw yesterday, that had a video explaining how the last hurricane was engineered. Sunday video update on Tropical Storm #Milton, expected to become a major hurricane that will bring life-threatening hazards to much of the #FloridaPeninsula.
Please prepare for this dangerous event, especially if you’re in a coastal flood evacuation zone.

Hoping all who can will evacuate.
When flying over it to go visit family that live in Florida, over the years, always wondered how that State hasn’t sunk into the ocean given the large percentage of lakes, lagoons, swampland throughout that State; and given the damage from the hurricane two years ago, how that State’s land hasn’t all washed away from centuries of these storms is a mystery 🙂
I will take living in the desert with the occasional earthquake anytime over those annual hurricanes!
Over many decades, The Florida Water Management Districts and Army Corps of Engineers built canals and drainage controls throughout the state to help dissipate flooding. Also the land has Karst topography, full of Swiss cheese type limestone/coral bedrock underground.
The rain water spreads across the state, like pouring liquid on a table, which gets absorbed by lakes, canals, caverns and aquifers. The land barely moves since there is no slope to the rising water. There may be pockets of flooding due to urban sprawl and too much concrete covering green spaces. Outer barrier islands and coastal areas are always at risk of disaster, but people like to live on the water. They pay a heavy price when nature comes knocking.
It is quite special that Florida wells continually get resupplied and provide fresh drinking water, all while being completely surrounded by salt water. If this were not the case it would be impossible to live in Florida, hence the need for tropical rainfall. In a nutshell, Florida is a beautiful state for many reasons and when the weather is nice, it is paradise.
Thanks; this helps a lot in understanding the give and take of the land there.
You are welcome. Here are a couple of interesting resources about the management of Florida lands and waterways. It is quite a remarkable and challenging endeavor.

Make sure that you have sharpened can openers, that you can find easily.
Some cans are hard to open with a dull can opener – ex. #10 cans of freeze-dried food. Before Hurricane Milton hits you, I suggest you sharpen your can openers. To do that:
– Close the can opener. I.e. have the two handles next to each other, instead of spread out. (If the can opener is closed, then when you turn the handle, the gear will turn the round blade, which is what you want.)
– With one hand, hold the can opener and slowly turn the handle. (Use your left hand for this, if you’re right handed as I am.)
– With your other hand, rub a whetstone or a strong nail file on the slowly turning round blade. (The nail file of nail clippers works, but it’s a little bit short.) Rub for about 10 or 15 minutes. The can opener will open cans a lot easier after you sharpen it.
Put the can opener in a place where you’ll find it, even if Hurricane Milton moves around the contents of your house. For example you might tape the can opener to the inside of a large, strong door.
Friction opening a metal can of anything from soup/beans/veggies/dogfood/etc. when one doesn’t have a can opener or a knife or anything sharp & pointy enough to get what is in the can out of the can is not too hard to do. Takes a bit more time usually, but it works..
For those who are not aware of how you can open a metal can of anything using friction, I will explain, although it is somewhat self explanatory.
Take a can of what you want to open & find some concrete, like a cement/concrete block, the concrete sidewalk, street curb, or even a rough stone/rock. Place the can with a bit of extra pressure/weight to speed things up & swirl the can in a circular motion with continually pressing the rim into the rough surface to remove the rim or the top of the can. ( Used to be that cans had rims on both ends, but now a days, the not easy to open cans usually only have one “rimmed” end).
You can go back & forth instead of a circular motion, but it seems to be more efficient to go round & round.
😉
When ya start to get some “seepage” of the contents, you know you are on the right track. 😉
Take a look at the rim & surface you have abraded & decide if you want to modify your method to just work on one edge and the open things up to keep one edge together, or just , depending on contents & your immediate need, make the motions to open the can the rest of the way, however you think will work best for you.
This DOES work. Give it a try sometime when ya don’t “need” to do it, to try it out.
Prep doesn’t just involve “having” things, it also involves the “actual Doing” of something to practice. If nothing else & most times just to get the knack of HOW to do things..
😉
GOD Bless YA~!
& G’Luck~!
Bon Appetit too 😉
Thank you.
That’s great to know.
Superb information.
I was going to purchase a file the next time I went to the hardware store. Do you think that I should buy a whetstone instead?
Any reason to buy both?
Several years ago I picked up a large variety of miscellaneous tools at an estate sale and some of them need sharpening, particularly the garden shears and branch cutters.
I’ve used a Swiss Army Knife (SAK) with a can opener tool. Most men carry a pocket knife. And there are many knives in your kitchen.
Being a knife guy, I never leave home without at least a good pocket knife and a rescue knife. Keep them on my person in multi-pocketed Duluth Trading Company Firehose work pants.
Pretty much a necessary survival habit.
Ladies can get a small SAK for emergencies. Inexpensive.
The friction method works too, just a little less messy with a knife’s can opener.
Rub the blade gently, so that you don’t accidentally damage the can opener.

My Oldest son, his missus & my two grandboys look to be smack in the middle of the current “track” for Milton.
They just moved to Titusville, Fla, from S.E. MN in the last few months to help care for my DILs aging & infirm Grandmother who has lived in Fl for some time.
I sent the last article about Hurricane Prep from yesterday, with all the info about storm prep, and related info and asked him to read it & share it further, since he/they have limited experience with hurricanes.
I am praying for all who might be affected & not just my own family.
GOD Bless~~!
Be Prepared & Be Safe~!
Tampa here. Respected local meteorologist Denis Phillips posted 5:00 update….
“ MILTON / Sunday 5 PM update is in. No major changes with this one as some of the models that were trending south earlier are now back north. NHC will be conservative with track changes to keep it consistent.
Milton is now stronger with winds of 85 mph and will continue to get stronger through the night. It’ll approach the west coast of Florida Wednesday as a major hurricane. No new watches for Florida with this update.”
We are on the barrier island of Tierra Verde in South Pinellas County. We flooded from Helene and just had new drywall delivered but it’s not going up. Debris is still everywhere piled up along the roads that I fear will become projectiles. We are evacuating tomorrow with our oldest whose apartment totally flooded from Helene and she lost most of her furniture and belongings. Praying for everyone’s safety.

That’s the kind of stuff my relatives are emailing me.
The ones I’ve received primarily focus on THAT ORANGE MAN BAD BAD BAD spreading *bad* rumors about FEMA, and grrrr, grrr, grunt and moan, how DARE he spread rumors???
This however is expected at this point, it’s boring, dull, almost a full decade in since the memorable scene of them Floating Down The Elevator In Trump Tower.
But whatever AI is determining from tracking my keystrokes has probably placed it in apermanent of disrepair. I have so many different interests and research plenty of contradictory subjects, I would confuse AI.
In any event, I will take PDJT’s narrative, long before I’d ever accept the words of the MSM.
That must mean I belong to a cult. Right? God Almighty, the reporters are so very predictable in their slurs and manipulative taunts.

I. DO. NOT. NEED. TO. SEE. Port St. Lucie. On their picture….
Ok, now I know we have our issues with Dan Rather, but here he is talking about hurricanes and not being political. He was probably the first to show hurricane radar with the geography of a map. Watch how he did it with 1961 Carla coming into Galveston. Pretty ingenious for the time. About 3:30 of this video. The first part is talking about the TV station being pretty small and not much ratings. Apparently the NY folks saw his reporting and put this on all their stations nationwide. Just put yourself in that time and how revolutionary what he did with simple stuff was.
There are other videos of the actual reporting and such, not him looking back.
Maybe start at about 2 minutes.
That footage of Dan Rather is classic, and through the decades was broadcast many times.
THAT broadcast is why he went from being the popular local broadcaster to being scurried to New York where he became the major CBS news anchor for decades.
I remember seeing DR reporting on a hurricane in Florida, hanging on to a palm tree with one arm while using a mic with the other. That was years and years ago.
liar. Dan Rather pathological liar. Get behind me.

The flying debris from hurricane Helene is gonna be a real danger
Yeah the f**ktards at FEMA have dropped the ball yet again on managing the debris removal from affected neighborhoods in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties.
If ron! can’t pull off a Miracle with his Executive Orders the 10 ft+ high piles of wood and housewares along so many streets will become potential missiles flying around ever which way.
I just saw the piece on this from the Tampa area ABC affiliate just before 7 pm.
As you said above, we as well, haven’t seen any debris pickup in Hillsborough or Pinellas. Also wondered if the debris might end up floating and blocking storm drains?
Its not just these two counties either….

… “Some Fort Myers Beach residents have expressed concern that a lot of debris, particularly on the north end of town, has not been picked up yet with the latest hurricane looming. There is worry that the debris sitting in front of homes right now could become an additional hazard during Hurricane Milton if not picked up in time.”

Retired Colonel Douglas MacGregor has a program on YouTube right now about how the Military Industrial Complex now has a patented ability to steer these hurricanes and, in fact, did steer this storm to its devastating results. If you haven’t seen this, you should take the time to look at the presentation here: Hurricanes and Geoengineering (youtube.com)
MacGregor and his guest contend that this event was orchestrated and controlled by our government. More evidence, I suspect, of how desperate they are to swing the coming vote in their direction by preventing MAGA voters from getting to the polls and who knows what else?
Thank you, Sundance, for making this site possible.
Vote MAGA always.
THANKS.
Great find.
I subscribe to his channel, but have been so focused on catastrophic weather that I haven’t stayed current with his videos
Okay.
I respect Col. MacGregor greatly. And I believe he is working with others to save the country, and the world.
What is freaky is that someone basically described that system that you see going off in the blue flashes in that video to me more than a decade ago, as a way to steer hurricanes. I don’t remember whether has was suggesting using frequency bursts. I think it was something else, but it was the same basic idea – a ground based network that would produce a force to either break up or redirect a storm. I genuinely believe it was a completely independent avenue of thought. Perhaps a Providential discussion.
What are the odds?
If he could come up with that idea, so could the DOD.
Even so . . .
I don’t know how much people can handle.
“The truth would put 99% of people in the hospital.”
Yeah. Yes, it would, wouldn’t it?
Nanoparticles, sprayed on us like bugs.
Over at least the last 2 years.
My garden didn’t grow like it should have this year. I thought maybe it was due to bad mulch.
Maybe not.
From a legal standpoint, recovering damages faces a sovereign immunity hurdle right off the bat. It has already been invoked with regards to things the government did in connection with Covid.
Nothing can be done to get justice until we have a complete turnover of all government personnel. And a vote to waive sovereign immunity.

We’ve also been watching this channel. Good concise live coverage.
House in Clearwater 8 miles inland in northern Pinellas County. Also a condo on Clearwater Beach. No worries on the condo. The unit is undamaged from Helene but the complex still has no water and no electricity. Our house is on the highest point in the county at approximately 90’ above sea level. No trees around close enough to hit us so all these storms are wind events for us. We monitor the NHC site and then grab local TV once the storm moves closer. I believe where we are we should be OK as long as this thing stays south of the mouth of Tampa Bay. But we are prepared and constantly monitoring. If we have to move out we have a plan. Blessings to all. Somewhere in the great State of Florida the upcoming week is going to really suck.
Even if someone posted this, I’m going to say it again; please check on the elderly people around you.
They can only do so much.. they need help and watching out for.
We’ve all got to do this.
I don’t think young people think this way as much as they should, so it’s up to us that are somewhere between not young and not old to get it all done!
I’m praying for strength for all of us..
Speaking of elderly! Question. I’m widow w 2 pets on ocean, Space Coast. I’m in condo. Do you think I’ll be ok. Nobody else seems worried. Th.
You will be fine. Once it hits the west coast it will degrade to a CAT1 or 2. Barring any unnatural shenanigans you’ll be fine. I’m space coast too.
Having been a resident of Lee County, FL, through the pandemic and several storms in recent years, I believe this is the first full length press conference I have seen of Gov. DeSantis. Usually the sound is messed up so one cannot hear anything. I sent him messages that local TV stations were messing up his press conferences, besides the absolutely gross and hostile press questions especially during the pandemic, they were totally useless as to information. I don’t know if he ever saw my messages but this was a 1000% improvement. Please God let my screens stay in!
Seriously speaking, I would nothing past the mainstream media.
What you describe, particularly how often it occured is exceptionally peculiar
However so is the modern day propaganda and influence machine of what’s left of the MSM

They are the ones narrating the false narratives that make up the fake news.
I think hearing for the first time ever, the word adrenochrome in the same sentence with this specific nonprofit created an indelible permanent crack in my previous generally accepted beliefs that I can still feel yo this day.
I was aghast
And still am.
Decades ago, there was never this much hype and fear about tropical storms and hurricanes. The meteorologists waited until they knew the narrower path as the storm was approaching, approx. 3 days away. Everyone who was mainly in that path was warned and prep started without any panic. The weatherman on TV used a plastic hurricane with a pushpin and he moved it across a map. They used to give out paper maps at the stores, so kids could track storms at home. It was a learning experience and people were taught about the dangers without causing complete hysteria all over the state. The colored graphics today are so intense that they cause unnecessary drama and subsequent fear.
Except for the bullseye, other areas would get high winds, downpours and possible power outages but it was an inconvenience for about a week. Food was heated in the can with solid sterno fuel like beefaroni, spaghettio’s or soup. That’s how people survived and they would begin cleaning up the outside once the storm passed. There were devastating storms and some loss of life, but most people survived quite well.
Only hurricanes used to be named , but now hurricanes plus every tropical storm is named. This is to trigger high deductibles on insurance claims, reduce lawsuits and affect other liabilities. We should not have a cone of uncertainty to cover the entire state but instead wait until 3 days out then narrow the focus. Those in the direct path are going to get the worst damage and attention should be focused on that area alone. The rest of the state will have minimal damage and minor disruptions.
It is crazy to shut down schools and businesses hundreds of miles away from the main impact zone. Newcomers to the state are put through the mill unnecessarily, making preparations when they are not going to be severely impacted. The whole system of severe weather information needs to be revisited and streamlined for maximum effectiveness.
your comments are about the hysteria and fear mongering and monetization of crisis are not unfounded.
however, and this is important…set all of that aside and realize that NOW more than ever, more people are living closer to the shorelines and are MUCH MUCH MORE DEPENDENT ON A WORKING INFRASTRUCTURE. Independent, healthy and thriving, and very strong human beings have been replaced by at least three generations of very unhealthy, fearful, easily distracted mouth breathers. And this is just me being nice about it.
does this mean we should care less about them. Absolutely NOT! but it is a reality that today, threats of natural disasters are profoundly more disruptive to the lives of human beings than it has ever been.
also disruptions to infrastructure in one region has direct impact on other regions. Particularly with power generation and transfers as well as intermodal transportation and responder resources and communications. To say that a hurricane should be treated as a local event, is not a reality.
what you are saying held true when local communities were far more self reliant, food was local and power generation and restoring power could be done in a non wide network connected grid. that just doesn’t exist today.
for better or worse, the modern society, with all its technological advances has some disadvantages to the former “old world”, when men and women and families and communities could work out at the local level how to prepare, how to respond and how to restore. There was no billions and billions of DEI-directed non sense thrown at the crisis. just sleeves rolled up and get it down attitudes.
there is probably a lesson there for anyone wanting to step outside the matrix.
roll your own. develop your bug out plan. because hurricanes, believe it or not, isn’t even close to the worst case scenario.
God Bless America
Thanks, your perspective is noted and appreciated. Oh yes things have changed, and not necessarily for the better. The fact that the “nanny state” has to manage our collective diapers and protect us from every possible calamity is extremely unhealthy. People need to have more rugged resourcefulness and less dependency on government, which is sometimes unreliable. We are connected to a larger network in many things, but local control and good management of allocated resources are key to surviving any crisis.
Sending prayers and good luck to all in the path of Mother Nature’s mayhem.
God Bless America, now and always.

WASHINGTON — Today, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), through FEMA and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), announced $300 million in grants through the Shelter and Services Program (SSP), which was authorized by Congress to support communities that are providing services to migrants. Two hundred seventy-five million dollars will be distributed in the first allocation, and the remaining $25 million will be allocated later in the year to accommodate evolving operational requirements.

Spent many yrs on Gulf coast of Texas….preparing for yrly hurricanes was a normal process for us.
Moved further north to n.e.Texas so we don’t prepare for hurricanes but we’ve prepped for so long that we just live that way. We keep water, dry goods, canned goods in abundant supply and have 2 camps stoves just in case. We installed an in-home Generac so we have constant power when power goes down.(Best investment we ever made!)
People need to prep regardless of where you live…never know when sghtf.
Pray for our people in America..we are under seige everywhere we look.
Tampa here. Just got text from family member, “South Tampa – out of gas.”

T’would be nice if that hurricane, instead of devastating Florida, could run that same pattern that that Evergreen container ship ran in the Suez Canal a couple of years ago, before blocking it for a while, and then just dissolve.
Just a thought.
Paradise Found, not Paradise Lost.
Asking for some friends.
Enough is enough? Seals are wonderful??
Tried to get flight out for Monday to NJ. Ft Myers to AC or Newark. Wanted $800 for flight that is normally $250. When I went to book it, it was gone.Found flight from ft Lauderdale for $300 but didn’t feel like driving 5 hours 2x. Wife isnt thrilled, but I was staying home anyway . After 25 years on best coast of fl . and 1 small evacuation, maybe it isnt the best coast anymore
Pray and help others.
Be safe.
Prayers for both of you.

Sundance I am sure that you are preparing 100% but just from an old timer experience Gordon Dunn wrote a historical book called “The Atlantic Hurricane” that has this October date period historical tracts which show that approach from the south has a sharp right turn almost due east at your location for many historical storms. Take care of your family as a priority over posting. The first cool front passed over western NC at 5PM today with the secondary and third fronts moving toward us now. The secondary front will be the main steering front for Milton. Look at water vapor satellite images at: https://www.tropicaltidbits.com/sat/ and watch the dry line for steering direction.
Impressive. You don’t sound ordinary.
