This is a worthy thing to do. But what is also earnestly needed right now is: prayer. And, if there is anything “physical” that you can do to assist, do it. You will be repaid for it someday.
“A hurricane strike to Louisiana coastal country” is one thing. Suddenly dumping [more than …] two feet of rain in 24 hours on top of the Appalachian Mountains(!) is entirely another. It will take much more than “money” right now. It will take people, and prayer.
And, let us now agree on just one more thing: “No ‘politics.'” As this Politician very correctly realizes, this is not about politics. Even “the Governor of the State(!)” can find himself right now basically helpless. He is not thinking about “red vs. blue.” Pray for him, also.
If you find that you can right now do nothing more, then: “pray.”

Please, dear Lord, help all of those affected by Hurricane Helene. Please show us what we can do, and guide those entrusted with the hands-on work it will take. Bless these men, women and children who are rolling up their sleeves to make sure what needs doing gets done. In Jesus’ name. Amen!

Nope, I don’t see it. That’s the raised edge of the table not a cord. The table has about a one-eighth inch raised lip all the way around to prevent items from rolling off if the aircraft tilts. The phone is sitting flat on the table surface. The lip would bend a cord up and make it easy to see.

Looking again, I have to agree with you. I believe it’s the lip around the table. I saw the lip under her right arm but thought it was light/shadow. Totally missed the lip on the left. As Debra posted above, she may have more than one device, though, even if she does come from a middle class background.
That is the edge of the paper the phone is lying on, which is flush with the table. The shadow between the phone, page is the table before it meets the raised slide stopper edge. If it were the cord you would see it continue as it goes up over the edge of the table slide stopper. The slide stopper is white and goes all the way across the table and can be seen clearly. The cord would likely not be flat and disappear, worse it would likely have a space gap underneath as it curves around the trim and table.

Thank you Jesus. The light is so slow to dawn on politicians regarding how bad this thing is. There are hundreds of small towns all over Tennessee, gathering supplies, consolidating efforts, and trucking them in to the places that local officials have designated. And yet, there are a few “officials” telling people to NOT “self-deploy” or GET IN THE WAY of rescue teams while NO RESCUE TEAMS HAVE BEEN THERE. Days without electricity, food, water, and no way in or out. Wait for the government? No freaking way y’all.
I’m so thankful and grateful that Tennesseans are stubborn as heck (remember those Irish-Scottish roots!) and they will go and keep going with truckloads and horse trailer loads of food and supplies. It’s all hands on deck. I know if you don’t live here you may not realize what the PEOPLE of Tennessee are doing for all of Appalachia. In addition to so many other organizations from several states. Small groups of highly skilled men, with their chain saws, and their big machines rolling in, from all over. Lovin’ me some toxic masculinity!!
