Sanctions on Russia strike again.
There are devastating wildfires in northern and central Portugal with 2 dead and 17 injured. Fighting the spread of fires has involved more than 1100 firefighters.
The leaders of Portugal have asked the EU for 8 fire-fighting helicopters. Four have been dispatched.
Coincidentally, several days ago, Portugal transferred to Ukraine 6 Russian KA32A11BC that had been purchased in 2006 for firefighting. Those helicopters had been used for fighting fires in Portugal until 2018 when sanctions on Russia caused a shortage of spare parts.

It had to be more than just the lipo batteries which can burst into flame if shorted, but not explode unless very strongly confined. I’d expect sabotaged packs with explosives that detonate when heated, easily swapped out enroute. Then, some kind of electronic exploit in the pager, already present due to a design defect or created, that shorted the batteries when a certain signal was received.
The Israelis have previously done the same with cell phones which were more likely to be deadly because when answered they’d be right next to the target’s head. “Hello?” “Is this so an so?” “Yes.” Bang.

Public officials, large corporations, and NGOs rake in huge sums of money housing, transporting, feeding, and employing for sub-existence level wages, our newly imported indentured servants and sex slaves. Just as many of these public servants are R’s as are D’s, and none answer to any higher power than themselves.
