Long before there was an internet, the government ALWAYS had a way to check anyone’s communications. They could tap your phone, read your mail and install listening devices. They always had to have a warrant.
Isn’t the whole problem with all of this is that law enforcement and government are now routinely lying to obtain warrants or not even bothering with warrants? When these illegal searches are proven unjustified, there is no justice for the victims.
I see this whole problem as being just that. ILLEGAL searches with no repercussions for the guilty. It seems that we, on the right, have just decided that we will never have an honest judiciary so our solution is to allow a communication network that no one outside the communicating parties, can breach.
We will now turn a blind eye to enabling child porn, child selling, drug dealing, thievery, election stealing … all criminal activities that are facilitated by unbreakable communications.

Used to be under the rule of law, there is first evidence of a crime. A warrant is issued by a judge on evidence indicating a crime has been committed. Then the police execute a warrant to gather further evidence. An arrest is made.
Law enforcement wants to search for a crime by scrubbing the internet. Then they want the person’s data, so he can be arrested. No warrant. No probable cause.
That’s the issue than. The government should not be looking at anyone’s communications without a warrant. If the government legally obtains a warrant because of a wealth of solid information leading authorities to believe someone is planning deadly crimes, is what Pavel is doing with Telegram preventing law enforcement from viewing pertinent information when they have a legitimate warrant?
