Hi, Bet, love. Re: air conditioning. Would you believe I cool my whole house with one 18k btu window unit? I close off the front and back bedrooms and the center part of the house remains quite comfortable. I also keep a small 5k btu unit going in my back yard study. Total cost last month was $360 which I think is quite reasonable for virtually 24/7 air conditioning.
Met with a quite nice car salesman at the Ford dealer this afternoon. We got along fine, although getting a Maverick like I want continues to be sketchy. There are some in the pipeline I’m told so we’ll see what turns up.
Yep no car air conditions is not comfortable but, fortunately, I don’t drive much or drive far—store, lunch, etc . . .
I went out expecting to buy a new truck but it was not to be. I think I’ll take the old truck to my mechanic. The problem may well be a compressor clutch which will be a pretty easy fix. If so, I can just keep driving my trusty 23 year old Ranger. I have a number of options—don’t have to have a Maverick—so we’ll just have see what happens.
Little ‘Tink’s constant attention is truly endearing. She is, indeed, a wonderful companion. What a surprising transformation from her previous feral condition. When I tell her she’s a good kitty, I get a soft purr in response. I really like that. 🙂

Good morning, Bet! Yesterday I took mom grocery shopping. Our routine is I drop her off, go work out and then pick her up. I had a list from Elizabeth so did some shopping too. As I was loading up the car a nice lady asked if we needed help. I politely said, “we are fine, thank you.” Inside I was thinking, “Lady, you talking to me? Can’t you see that I am in my workout clothes and my t-shirt is still wet from exercising?”

Keeping Chris and you in my prayers, Bet. We had a very pleasant July but August brought the summer with full blast. The good news is that we have just over a month left of it. This morning had to spend some time outside. Last night my truck decided to not want to start. So after charging the battery all night and getting the same result this morning I pulled it out, then it was my turn to water the garden, then drive to Napa Auto parts in town to find out that the my 1 yo battery was just fine. The store guys suggested a dead starter. Called my mechanic and his diagnosis was a connection problem. There was some corrosion on the negative side of the battery and the cable. Wire brush, sand paper, and elbow grease, and the truck is running again. But it got quite hot outside so I am leaving the well filter change for tomorrow. Our youngest son, Nipper’s dad showed up and helped some and will come back tomorrow to help with the filter. Almost forgot, the morning started with spraying wasp nests, to be continued tomorrow. Never seen so many red wasps.

I have tried to plant Cardinal Flowers in the past and was unsuccessful as they like moist soil. So when I bought some last fall from the local native plant sale which is a great way to get native bird/pollinator friendly plants at a low price, I planted them near my birdbaths for the express reason of watering them every other day when I change my birdbath water. So they are doing well and the local Hummingbirds are using them daily. They are beautiful in of themselves. Remember Fall is the best time to plant especially in southern states

Thank you, Jonrilus. It is God’s Words. They bubble up within me. They bring sense to chaos that I witness. I can sit and listen to the absurd and when God seems ripe with response, He’ll sit me down and the words will form in my mind. Took about 20 minutes to write that this morning.
Yet, as I read it again aloud to my dearest precious daughter – my eyes welled up with emotion at the counter to the calls to slaughter our children.
Children. God’s most precious gift to us as humans. His most excellent creation… people… made in His Image for His Divine Purpose to be the Hands and Feet of God while on this earth… as its stewards.

Mornin’ Patience
You are so sweet to think of me! ❤️ you always! I saw your posts to me one day this week and it brought a tear to my eye.
Lloyd is still in the hospital. There have been a couple of screw ups that have prolonged the stay – one of which was major and totally avoidable. I have spoken to the Chief Nursing Officer. Can’t fix the past, but maybe help patients in the future.
We’re hoping he can come home soon.
Last night there was a tornado warning for the area where we live, so I raced home to secure animals and be home – it’s over 50 miles to the hospital, so I guess “race” doesn’t really apply! Went around us thank heaven.
This morning everything is SNAFU. I can’t get the well to turn on, my dishwasher quit, all my outside lights won’t work, and a can of soda exploded in my face when I took it out of the refrigerator! Just finished cleaning the fridge and washing the floor. Yikes! I might not be on the right Santa’s list!
Going to get on my way to the hospital soon. They gave Lloyd food (liquids, but still) yesterday. Yay! I’m going to stop and get a coffee milkshake if I can find one.

I am so sorry you are both going through this. 50 miles is quite the round trip, but it gives “thinking time” while riding the dashboard, I guess.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Good morning, dear duchess 💕
So here I am after a lonnnnng absence from the inner branches of our Tree. It became necessary for me to pop in at the top so people would know I was still breathing but then to withdraw for a while. I can’t explain even to myself the journey which I inexplicably found myself on. Suffice it to say my heart has been scanning horizons here and further and seeing so many with heavy and terrible burdens that I have…how to phrase it…needed to pull away to refuel, as I alluded to above to Patience.
Closer to home, we have reached that point, markers I call them, when all which was beautifully familiar, is no longer.
Our two beloved twin grandsons are now moving away to their respective universities. The first, Charlie, left yesterday with his mother, sister, and his brother, Jack, to Southwest Texas State in San Marcos to get settled in. His brother follows him in September to LA Tech on Louisiana. I am beyond thrilled they will both be at “smaller” universities, given what larger ones have turned intom
I am really feeling it. The good Lord above placed us near at a time when we couldn’t possibly see coming that we would be needed as major influences in the rearing of all three, a blessing for us all of such magnitude. We knew these days would come, but nothing can prepare for full force blindsiding of emotions for everyone which have come with this most natural life change. The thing we anticipated for the last few months has arrived.
In essence, we turn them now over to God with prayers that He will guide them as they make their way into a more dangerous world none of us recognize anymore.
My first born, their mother, knew this would be hard…she posted on FB this morning…
“It’s TXST move-in day. The “organized” process is already wheels off to a level of 1995 Black Friday sales. I’m tired and emotional and not even to campus yet. Taking bets on how many times I embarrass my kids in the next 24 hours.”

Good thing I found this last week (or was it strategically placed so I would see it??) and sent it to both lads 😎

This made my eyes well up. Pools of tears flowing, as we are too watching “the changes” in scenery.
You are living your best life and the Tree waits for everyone. The Tree knows when it’s time for refreshing, for unplugging, for nurturing one’s soul and for each of our journeys to set forth.
It reminds me of the book “The Giving Tree” and I’ve been feeling that so much more poignantly lately.

Love you for that, dear Woo…scenery changes is exactly the perfect description. We’ve all experienced them. It doesn’t matter that we believe that in anticipating what we can see coming that we can steel ourselves and think we will simply sail through. Even when you intuitively know the time is coming, nothing prepares you for the impact.
I know my inadequate explanation puts into stark relief our journey versus the truly terrible trials of others, like yours, dear friend. So I hesitated to be so open about what has affected my spirit…that where once after I placed my reduced number of posts I couldn’t find anything else in my dry well.
One last indulgence…
I remember naïvely thinking when I was younger that if I I could get my children to the point of self sufficiency, my day to day concerns for them would lessen…

I was barely breathing last Sunday over breakfast after camping… counting my daughter’s arms and legs and hands… as she reveled in military bliss. Serving my daughter up to this decrepit government…spit!!! But then I quiet myself… we will need very good people on the inside. She wants to harden herself… and that, she will.
I have a countdown now and it’s very possible I’ll crawl in a hole and die for I know not what I was doing that was so important in my life before she came along.
As for the adversity… the continual strengthening of the faith muscle… I figure God is just giving me stories to write.
We all have our testimonies and God Is Good and Merciful all the time!

I have been aware that these godless rumours have been circulating Older Biddie. And there seems may be evidence to support them.
This is one of those things which has diminished my spirit over the last number of weeks. Not Walz in particular because he has only been newsworthy for a short while. But for the children who are the prey for such monsters who are peppered throughout every walk of life.
I have to continue to pray that Almighty God Himself, seeing it all, is acting so that all of it is being finally exposed, so that there is no possible cover anymore for these individuals.
If the thought of our littlest in the hands of the depraved is too terrible to know, imagine what these children are going through.
If Walz is a monster of this persuasion, may the Good Lord make it clear so that no one is deluded that there is only place for him. And it is not one heartbeat away from the presidency.

Weren’t we lucky to have grown up during a time with so much talent emerged driving a revolution in what we call music. I don’t care. From Abba to the Zeppelin, so much was changed. I saw some of them live in their prime, also The Who, The Band, The Stones, Edgar Winter, The Steve Miller Band, The Allman Brothers, Billy Joel, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Pink Floyd…………
I sat on the living room floor and watched the first moon landing.
This is well-done. He addresses the technical aspects of modern digitally-edited and adjusted music and the resulting product quality, then capped off by the de-valuing of music product via those music streaming subscription services. I had never given much thought to these issues.
I was thinking he was going to address the deteriorating quality of music itself and the lyrics – all a symptom of a dark-captured industry…. But thats another topic for a different discussion.
Broad-winged Hawk. I have them here, but have yet to see a Kettle of them, though I have had 5+ a few times. They are beautiful especially in flight

Hi JWoo, hope all is great with your family. I would guess they were more than likely Red Tailed Hawks, but all Hawks are a treat to see. I saw some migrating Warblers today while looking at some local ponds, and at work yesterday. I could not id because they were quick & I did not have my binocs but that means the early migration is under way. Keep your eye on the sky migration is starting. Best to you
If you ever get to see a Kettle of Raptors (usually mostly Broad-winged Hawks) it is quite spectacular and something you will not forget. I have been lucky to see a handful up where I used to live because I was near the Coast & on a mountain range, perfect location for hawk/bird migration.

When I read about the enormous flocks of Passenger Pigeons & to a lesser extent Eskimo Curlews it always boggled my mind and make me quite sad that they are all gone, though in the Curlews case there are rumors that a handful of them still live in some unknown breeding location as the few sighting are always during migration.
