This is our customary Sunday Benediction post (glad I remembered it this time 🙂 ). I first posted this version of “The Parting Glass” a number of years ago. It was such an ionic performance that my friend Bet and I instantly recognized that it could be perfect way to celebrate the honest, decidedly personal, religious contents of many posts then as now appearing on our Open Thread.

This Sunday Benediction almost immediately became our humble way of saying thank you to our many Treeper friends. It is a good way of saying, without being overly complicated, that belief in Our Lord is freely expressed here. It is a way of saying that faith and belief are both real things and are a common part of our community.

Be blessed, Treeper friends. And always know that our Dear Lord loves us and desires the nest for us. All He asks in return is that we accept Him. That’s all it takes . . . Honest. 🙂

Israel Update:

-As to the expected massive attack on Israel we are still expecting but Iran has been strongly threatened and we don’t know their final decision. Some voices there are saying that a lot depends on the possible Gaza deal.  Hezbollah also letting us wait.  The IDF today had jet fighters flying low breaking the speed of sound causing booms over Beirut shuttering hundreds of windows.  We are getting reports of massive flee of residents from Beirut areas of Hezbollah and internal pressure in Lebanon to avoid a whole out war.  

-Into it all enters the new deal that Biden and Kamala are working on.  They are trying to end the war with Hamas still in power in Gaza.  They want to be able to say that they ended the war and got hostages back.  Bibi refuses to have any ending the war into the deal. 
Rumors that Bibi agreed to withdraw from the Philadelphi Corridor that controls munition flow from Egypt to Gaza and the Nezarim Corridor (the area that the IDF created to split Gaza into North and South as to prevent a return of Hamas to North Gaza).  His own Security Establishment are telling him that the “IDF can handle it.” I don’t trust the Security establishment until people get replaced for 10/7 disaster.  The idea is to get some 30 or so hostages women and injured and the rest will depend on other negotiations later on.  They also want murderers terrorists released from prisons.  Hundreds of them.  Bibi wants them to be denied entry to the West Bank and Gaza.  At this point Hamas is more stressed out because they took serious loses recently.  But Sinwar Hamas Leader also sees here an opportunity to get Israel involved in a war with Iran and Hezbollah.  So he wants this war to expand so I personally think that it’s all a delusion of the Biden’s Administration.  We will probably see an attack.  No one knows how big.  Bibi is playing chess.  He goes along with Biden so long as he can continue the war.  Hamas will deny and then he will have the legitimacy to move on with the war efforts.  

-The IDF is into massive attacks in some 6 areas of Gaza.  There was some skepticism  about the withdrawal of most of the IDF’s forces in Gaza and transformation to the stage 3 of the war that is raids based on Intel.  the criticism was that you must hold the lands to prevent the enemy from rebuilding.  But we may see here something that will be studied in Military schools.  When you’re in an urban zone with an enemy that is using Guerrilla  warfare or hit and run you can bleed really bad.  On the long run it’s a recipe for a disaster.  What the IDF did is flood the area with Intelligence activity and using relatively small mobile forces who can hit and run.  You basically use raids against the terrorist.  The IDF built some fortresses from which it can embark raids.  Also a lot of work from the air.  
So for example today we had an IDF attack on a school compound which had a mosque area in it. We had strong  Intelligence that it is used as a Command for issuing attacks on the IDF.  It was in central Gaza.  So after some surveillance and choosing precision missiles we got 19 terrorists of Hamas and Islamic Jihad killed.  I saw the images with names and positions they had.  The IDF is confident that it minimized the collateral damage with the use of very precise munitions.  Of Course we got scolded by the Progressive world and by Hamas and Russia.  But we actually gave Hamas a strong blow and we likely killed the Senior Commander of all of Hamas in Central Gaza.  Plus other senior commanders.  
So this system is quite effective in fighting terror, rather than being sitting ducks you make them the ducks.  Of course Hamas lies and talks about ” a 100 dead”, we know it’s false.  
All those attacks are pressure on Hamas to go a hostage release deal.  A deal we can accept. 

-The US is to give Israel 3.5 Billions of the 14 billion that was approved in Congress.  This is for purchasing US weapons and munitions.  It is for weapons that are still in production and will arrive only a few years from now.  Also a few billions for immediate supplies. Not clear what exactly.  I think they hide the content to prevent political pressure against it.  

-Quite impressive presence of the US Millitary arrived to the area.  Trying to deter Iran.  
Now we have an additional fleet of F22 advanced fighters.  We have a carrier and a few ships and we have bases in the Middle East with additional jet fighters and soldiers.  

-Massive forest fires in North Israel from the rockets of Hezbollah.  

-The IDF is back to Khan Yunis.  Civilians are evacuated.  Many dead terrorists, tens. 
They fired from there into Israel and the areas will be flattened.  Also the IDF is seeking information about Hamas Senior Commanders and sending out leaflets.  
Sinwar is running out of places to hide and losing all his command structure.  

-Targeted assasination.  One of the most senior Hamas Commanders in Lebanon is dead.  Yes, Hamas is also in Lebanon.  Not so many.  

-Another participant of 10/7 eliminated in Gaza.  We are getting to them one by one.  In the West you may see some drone taking out an “innocent civilian” when we know it was a 10/7 participant.

• Note that the promises referenced in today’s verse are reserved “for those who love Him.” Havner also said, “These things God has prepared refer not only to the joys awaiting us in heaven but blessings available now.”
• Do you love the Lord? Are you keeping His commandments to love Him and your fellow man? Let God’s promises for both today and tomorrow wash over you so that others will be drawn to Christ by your life. 
• Pray that believers who are candidates for public office in this year’s elections will let their lights shine.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me. 

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

Terrible decision.
If I were a parent of a school age child anywhere and my wishes for my child were to be ignored, thus allowing this killer jab to be administered, when I had forbidden it, I would be moving. My child’s life would be the most important issue.
