If you’ve never read it I suggest the “Short and Happy life of Francis Macomber” by Hemingway to be a particularly apt description of our time.
Hemingway was in a word a jerk but an acutely observant one.
It’s been a whole lot of years now since I’ve read that book. It’s good from what I recall.
I was in college and read it for a class. Then I had to do a paper on it.
The teacher was an outspoken feminist, and made that a theme in her classroom.
She was married to a man who apparently identified himself as a feminist….
Whenever I hear a guy describe himself as a “feminist” I always get the impression they are weak and groveling for the attention of women.
She didn’t care for it when I described Francis Macomber as weak, and his cheating wife as a flaming witch.
Problem for her was that the logic was sound. Problem for me was that I apparently had enough writing errors to allow her to wear me out on the grade….
We talked about it. I didn’t get the grade I wanted, but she didn’t get to hear me change my position, I made my point strongly. Politely, but strongly. I think it may have bugged her that I was fresh out of the Army and already married and could make points about the book in a way she did not foresee a student doing.
Somehow I think perhaps the teacher viewed Mrs. Macomber in a positive light with her infidelity and the way she treated her husband.
Nope.

The person you describe is probably unhappy to this day. Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus is another good read. I never agreed with everything but learned some very important lessons. Most important is to just listen when my wife wants to vent.
Don’t try to “fix it”,( as is a guys first instinct), just listen. LOL!

I may have them too domesticated with the covered picnic pavilion. I think they come in search of a spiders, crickets, or other tasty bugs but can always rely on seeds, mealworms, or bark butter crumbs I put out for them.

When you receive Jesus Christ as Savior, you become the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit, and you have everything necessary to be witnesses to the world of His power. This supernatural power changes lives and leads you to a life that imitates Christ.
You have all the power you need, and then some. Evangelist Dwight L. Moody summed it up: “Without this power, our work will be drudgery. With it, it becomes a joyful task, a refreshing service.”
Allow the Holy Spirit to direct your life and let His power flow through you in a way that people will know it is not you, but Christ working in you.

I took my dog on his evening walk a couple of nights ago and ran into a guy who was strolling along taking photographs at whatever struck his fancy. He snapped a couple of my pooch and we began to chat. No politics, no current events, just superficial chit chat about places we had been and things we had seen and photographed. It was nice…almost like being back on old Earth.
While I love that photo, I did some counting, and I just dont think the caption is accurate. I just dont come up with 10000 men.
also, the acreage doesnt seem to be 7 either, based on the lot sizes of the row homes in the background. And, if each guy is maybe two feet across the shoulders (?), the space they consume doesnt seem to compute.

That means that increasingly more men are required to create the designs the farther away from the camera they are.
Several of these images were created back then, another one being the Statue of Liberty, which required 18,000 soldiers to create on a huge field in 1918.

They did not have aerial photography back, then, as any kind of routine technology. So they got these cameras up as high as they could, but then I guess they used binoculars and site lines to create the proportional image which, the further away you got, the larger those dimensions were in width and height. So they required a whole lot more individual men to fill them up.
I didn’t see much of this done after that period of time, at least searching online for more examples of this. But it was a short-lived fad, if you will, I guess to bolster American spirit.
And notice in both cases, they use military men. So this was not a civilian thing.

Today is suppose to get into the 90s and so this morning while the weather is cool I made dinner, a stew. There’s a cooking system called thermal cooking. It’s a stainless steel pot that fits into an insulated container. You process your meal in the pot, on your stove top bring it to a boil and cook it for about 10 minutes and then put it into the insulator. It will finish cooking using its own heat. By this evening the stew will be ready to eat and still quite warm. It taste good too, the potatoes, carrots and fresh green beans will still have a little bit of crunch to them, they wont be mush.

Here it is, the end of a full day and I just ate on the stew, it is perfect, absolutely perfect. There is nothing I can add to or take away from it. Oh yeah, I did make a loaf of fresh bread in the the bread machine to have with the stew, jalapeño cheese bread. Simple things makes living your best life simple.

Kamala Harris took the position of Hamas against Israel. This is the Progressive position, she is more radical than Biden (I said it before). She is repeating the lie of “hunger in Gaza”, a lie that came from UNRWA of the UN. I have watched multiple videos of tones of food wasted because they have more than enough and videos of Gazans joking about the American aide.
She wants that the 10/7 will end with a surrender of Israel, a full withdraw, and a Palestinian State as an award to Hamas.
Such actions will lead to the elimination of Israel as over 80% of Palestinians in Gaza and West Bank believe that Israel should be eliminated in any borders. Which means genocide. Some would agree to a “Two State Solution” as a step forward to eliminating the rest of Israel. There are many poles to make my point.
Following this step (her short speech) UK withdrew its support of Israel in Hague (The International court), following this Canada with Australia and New Zealand came out with a joint statement calling to “end the war now”. Israel will not do a deal that keeps Hamas in power and enables a repetition of the massacre.
If we do such a deal, in the Middle East it will show weakness and result in a much larger and worse war.
I am worried for Israel. But I have no doubt that if she is threatening the existence of Israel she will also threaten the existence of the US.
God help us. A lot is at stake in November. France just fell to the hands of the Progressives and Jihadists, so did the UK. Australia, Italy, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, etc… were already in those hands.
