In fact, in line with Sundance’s analysis a few years back, the perturbations in the international system were achieved by oligopolies (paying off gov’t regulators and pols globally) to facilitate using market power for segmentation purposes – not free trade. The same market power was used to push labor over seas to lower cost sources.
A country can engage in free (and fair) trade and benefit while simultaneously protecting its Defense Industrial Base Critical Infrastructure (DIBCI). DIBCI politics have been play since at least the early 70s – though, by all appearances, in rhetoric only.
The additional complexity here is that trade can be politically manipulated or expanded beyond economic fundamentals (e.g., currency devaluation, capital controls, foreign aid, etc., etc.). Free (and fair) trade in and of it itself is not good or bad. It’s politicians, ideologues, xenophobes, and market power that can make it so.
I am hopeful the recent ruling on the Chevron Doctrine will inhibit the regulations put on corporations, especially the ridiculous “climate change” regulations.
Oh, the recent Supreme Court ruling on the Chevron Doctrine will most definitely inhibit the regulations put on American businesses! Large payroll companies are already restructuring their operations to reconsider rulings by DOL, OSHA and other regulatory agencies that have no ‘legal’ authority to dictate to anybody. Now I assume they can merely make ‘suggestions,’ also known as guidance?
But “Free Trade” is not free trade when foreign countries subsidize their industries, manipulate there currencies, tariff our generally speaking superior products of export to them; and our own government penalizing our industries with burdensome regulations and excessive tax rates.
Free Trade was and is everything but “free” except when Trump busted their (foreign countries and globalist ideologists and owners) rear ends with tariffs and other measures to level the playing field.

Tell us how that works when foreign nations and globalist multinationals have near or full control of key components necessary for products being produced or assembled domestically for domestic or military use, particularly with issues of national defense, and those foreign producers cut us off or limits our supplies, or just as bad, puts Spyware on our tech products (ie China, Israel, etc) or produces products or components with defects or inferior quality; or components that pass ‘quality assurance’ because that quality assurance is their application of the term that is accepted?????

It is akin in analogy to when Quality Control (inspections by people of defects in components) was replaced by Quality Assurance using 6 sigma in the manufacturing process by eliminating defects during production.
The overlooked flaw in QA is: what if the product is still being produced with inferior materials but not being inspected before being used in production or assembly of the final end user product. 👀
JIT can be done in this country, outside it, or a combination. Outsourcing manufacturing to other countries has been the problem. Rewrite the tax code to discourage that activity. Remove draconian laws and regs to ENcourage manufacturing, mining, and raw resources processing in the USA.
Frankly, “Free” trade is inherently unfair, because America has a built in advantage no other Country can match.
Due to a variety of factors unique to the U.S. (Constitution w/Bill of rights, rule of law, ability of the U.S. to be self-sufficient in all things including energy) all of which have created a situation in which U.S. Consumers punch way above their weight.
Only 350 million people, yet our consumer market for goods/services is far larger than countries with billions in population, DUE TO a large, vibrant and growing middle class.
So, EVERYBODY wants access to U.S. Markets, and yet there is NOTHING we need, that can’t be produced here, which means we don’t HAVE to import ANYTHING.
This gives us a unique position when it comes to trade, and our enemies have been systematically attacking and trying to undermine/destroy the Middle Class, the upward mobility that has created the middle class, the manufacturung jobs that built that middle class, and of coarse the Constitution with B of R’S and the rule of law, while shutting down energy priduction.
And, PDJT’s A1st, MAGA agenda attempts to restore and buttress up those inherent advantages, bringing back manufacturung jobs, freeing up energy, etc. which restores that inherent trade advantage.

I just checked Milwaukee has about 200 polling locations. Evenly distributing (unlikely) 200000:ballots is 1000 per location. So does 1 truck drop off 200 ballots? Again unlikely. That second floor, and its several windows, perfectly overlooks the rally and overlooks the rooftop that Crooks’ body was found on.

What makes sense was postulated here last night: They gave him dummies, the cop interrupted, he got hurried, tried to fire, realized he’d been set up, dropped the gun and was fleeing while also trying to keep a low profile, and was then shot in the head by the real shooters. He likely never fired a shot.
Maybe they even told him he was there to help, or help train agents, cool job, bro . . . .

Meanwhile, back at the podium….maybe it’s just me, because I haven’t heard anyone else mention it, but when President Trump ducked on Saturday we heard a command voice say “Get down!Get down! Get down!”
I think it was President Trump’s voice. I’d really like to know.
I watched it live, and in those gutwrenching early moments it seemed to me he was always in command of the situation. His detail was taking orders from him, as evidenced by his demand for his shoes, and of course, the fist pump and by his order to the rest of us to fight.
Our President is bona fide tough guy and a born leader.
The toughest, Ma. I didn’t year it, so shocked and fearful for his safety was I. He dropped pretty quickly. But at the time, we didn’t know how badly he’d been hit. Shouting out to warn would be just like him.
That would be the first question I’d ask him if given the chance.
I also think the woman agent in the podium scrum wasn’t ducking as some have suggested, but instead was securing the President’s shoes, per his orders.
