An eyewitness gave a statement to BBC news, very angry about why nothing was done by secret service to secure a specific area.
The eyewitness describes watching the shooter carry a long rifle onto a barn roof. The eyewitness alerted police; no immediate action was taken. The eyewitness grew frustrated with police and secret service. The eyewitness saw the gunman prepare in position for 2 to 3 minutes before shooting 5 shots at President Donald Trump. The eyewitness saw law enforcement then engage and kill the shooter.

What little I saw of the layout the barn was visible to the eyewitnesses but a distance away, too far to “do something.” We’ll see.

Shooter was probably spooked by the red headed witness who was shouting and pointing at him in an attempt to get the SS and LEO’s attention. He may have waited longer for a better less hurried shot if not for that witness. Indeed, that witness may well be responsible for Trump being alive now.
With medium accuracy 1.5 MOA ammo, and a 79 dollar barrel on an AR, you can do that shot all day long with a 4X ACOG.

I’m pretty sure the red headed witness was interviewed by BBC said he was about 50 feet away from the shooter. Still, in my opinion, if he had tried to intervene, he might well have been shot by SS or LEO once they responded after the shooter exposed himself by firing at Trump. Being unarmed himself, he also might have been shot by the shooter.
Think about it.
If you saw someone crawling on a roof and acting suspiciously, would you be able to a) move to the building, b) find a way into the building, c) find a way onto the roof, and d) interdict the shooter all in under three minutes?
Or would it make more sense to contact trained, armed law enforcement present for this exact scenario and report the suspicious person and his behavior?
The person did nothing wrong. He made the reasonable assumption that alerting the police would result in prompt action. The responsibility for inaction lies with the officials, not the reporting party.

So the eyewitness says that the barn roof was out of line-of-sight for the secret service who were clearly positioned many places. My question would be how the shooter knew that.
He said the SS was on top of “the barn”, but the way the roof is, that the guy was probably concealed from them. Thus his pointing non-stop for 2-3 min.

Personally had a security clearance and worked with the SS on several occasions through the 90s. They were never this incompetent. The advance team always planned with local law enforcement and medical support personnel. They were securing roofs out nearly a half mile on some venues

Can you explain that more for people like me who don’t know anything about guns or shooting? This is a serious question. What does it mean to “pull a shot”? Is it possible that this was a warning shot to Trump?
It means the shooter wasn’t skillful at longer distance shooting. It also means the shooter may’ve rushed to pull the trigger, which would’ve caused the rifle to move off target and thus miss the intended target, which was President Trump’s head. It also means the rifle used may’ve had a very hard trigger to pull, requiring so much force that it made the rifle move, which made the intended shot to President Trump’s head barely miss.
And yet the shot still grazed the President’s ear. A VERY CLOSE CALL, indeed.

When you place the reticle on the centriod of the target and then pull the trigger with (supposedly) even steady pressure rearward to break the sear, the bottom of the receiver actually moves laterally because your finger pressure didn’t move perfectly rearward. This happens more and more as the pounds required to break the sear (the “pull”) increases. You can also rotate the entire chassis on the front rest which moves your windage.
Absolutely not. The shooter was not at ease with the shot or rushed it. Elevation was perfect.

There were no SS on that roof and others around and when the gentleman alerted the police an SS they didnt do a thing to stop him. He says he watched the guy for 2 to 3 MINUTES and Trump was allowed to keep talking and not one of the cops/SS even took a potshot at the guy. He was shot after he shot at Trump.
