It really is remarkable to watch the similarities between left-wing politics in the USA and left-wing politics in France. Historically, and in actual practice, we see this similarity as history rhymes and repeats. In both instances, you will note how the “mainstream” Democrats align with the communists to stop the majority of commonsense patriots.

The problem with France is ultimately different from ours. The French revolution was an anti-religious one, which has enshrined the ideologies that were spawned by Rosseau and others, precursors to Marxism. France was once called the eldest daughter of the Church, but her Catholicism has been hollowed out over the course of two centuries and will be very difficult to resurrect.
The American revolution, on the other hand, was a religious one, which is why it took so long for the communist menace to gain control and why the foundation on which to rebuild is more available, should we repent and show the courage to rebuild our formerly Christian culture.

As a child, I had no idea of the weight of growing up in a tiny western Massachusetts parish, North American Martyrs, named as I understand it, after a posse of Jesuits who took it on the chin from the Natives.

I am with you on Catholic Charities entirely. Please, bear with a little side trip here, for explanation. Many years ago, even before the abuse scandals rocked the Church, I became aware of what the bishops were doing through Catholic Charities and other organizations like CCHD. I stopped any contributions at the diocesan level, and tried to make other Catholics in my circle aware.
In the years since then, my heart has been torn up, and I cling to the Church at times only by the grace of God.
But, having experienced the Sacraments, been given the graces I’ve experienced and been saved by, and surviving only by the Eucharist and Confession in these times, I cannot leave the Truth.
Jesus asked if he will find faith on earth when he returns. I’m trying.
Total respect for you to raise issue of Catholic Charities within your church circle.

The first churches were to my knowledge were the seven in Revelation in Anotolia during the time of the Apostles. Peter traveled a lot before he made home in Rome while this was going on. I don’t have a proverbial ‘dog in the hunt’ over dogma between any of the claims either way between East and West. The East claims they are older. The West (Romans) say they are older.
There has been many ‘schisms’ over the centuries. East splits from West, Protestant splits from West. All.have sub denominations or schools of thought.
I was raised in a Protestant denomination, but am non-denominational.
What I do and have done for years is read scripture, but not only read it, apply contemporary historical accounts to it. Sometimes, some things take on a whole new meaning that is less mysterious that it appears.
For me personally, I believe that whatever it takes to believe in and accept Christ as the Lord and Savior, is the ultimate goal.

Esdras I & 11, MacAbees, and the Books of Enoch are personal favorites for very revealing when studied and compared to other canonized scriptures and traditions.

My ex’s paternal grandfather, the foreman of a iron forge, along le Blavet, a river that drained les Montagnes Noires of central Bretagne into the major French port on the Atlantic toward Asia.
In this part of Brittany, the Nazis took over during the WW2. My ex’s Mamie told stories of riding a bicycle down la Montagne, one of the foothill of the Black Mountains, with a cabbage, contraband, hidden under her dress. As a foreman of the iron forge, and a leader, her husband naturally supported the Communists, or les cocos. In this part of Brittany les cocos historically had a significant minority of the voting bloc.
My father in law, a sales and marketing executive Citroen, supported at the time the RPR, Rassemblement pour la République, the center right party of Jacques Chirac.
So, with experience, between my father-in-law and his father-in-law, the discussion of politics at the dinner table became impossible!
Meanwhile, my father-in-law’s step brother, who lived in a suburb of Versailles, supported Marine Le Pen’s father, when la Front Nationale was a swear word in France 20 years ago. Ton Ton R was a good host and always kind to me. He served as his community’s President or host of the sister city in Germany, avec les Bosches!
There was however at not pleasant side to this otherwise, kind host: his niece, my ex’s cousin, married a Black American dancer, and gave birth to 3 beautiful daughters. Ton Ton R did not accept his niece or her daughters.

I so enjoyed reading your post. There is nothing like becoming au fait with another country’s politics and parties to understand that no country is or can remain isolated. I became fascinated with them when I was living in Wales for 20 years. Both British and Continental politics and the machinations thereof, especially as the EU was just coming into existence. Fierce debate on both sides.
As I have said often this university credentialed gal didn’t begin her education until I immigrated there. Our dinner parties were replete with discussions which would often get heated, though as soon as we rose from the table the points of disagreement were forgotten. It pleases me that as children we were never involved with any church, however our grandparents were decent god respecting people.
Here in southern British Columbia numerous middle of the road individuals, and others are openly talking about a weakening economy, and are ill at ease.
Our cottage ( from where I plonk away) is home to l many comfortably off retired seniors from our prairie provinces.
Many are from a Conservative background and they are for the most part doing very well.
Mortgage free homes, dividend paying investment accounts etc.
However many are children of depression era parents..

The pundits from the parties were interviewed and they used the democrats talking points to a tee… Cries of we need to “save our democracy” to the concerns for the marginalized migrants, discrimination of the LGBTQ community, loss of “reproductive” rights etc. if the “fascists” (alt right) takes power.
