When I was about 14, I got to ride in an XKE. I thought I was the cat’s meow! I was so hoping some of my friends would see me!
VERY cool car! I never got to ride in one. But when my son bought a used but well-preserved XJS about 10 years ago I enjoyed riding in that one immensely. The V12 engine has a very unique power curve and a LOT of torque even at low RPMs….

Personally, I prefer the translation direct from the ancient Hebrew and Greek into contemporary spoken English, after all textual criticism to date has been applied.
Although I heard and saw nothing but KJV versions of Scriptures while growing up and well into adulthood, I’ve never liked the sentence structures nor the pronouns of Olde (Elizabethan) English. I literally hated Shakespeare and have never studied it because of the archaic and awkward language. That’s purely my opinion while I know others have no problems with Olde English.
For me, the Bible is difficult enough to understand without having to perform an intermediary translations from 16th century English to the language – spelling and grammar – in which I am fully literate and conversant. I use the NASB-95 version and that greatly eased my Bible study.
GB, I guess it’s like taste and color. Everyone is different. I use the NKJV with frequent jumps to the Study Light app’s interlinear Hebrew and English Bible.

That is a garden in my Heaven, Corny. Kitties rolling away in ecstasy. Can’t get my potted catnip to start. It bursts forth, little stragglers starting to leaf, then wilts bad and dies. Of course it would grow aplenty in 120 degree Arizona from a crack in the ground. Makes me as irritated as trying to grow a house fern unsuccessfully when they spring from a rock with two tablespoons of dirt in Washington State. God Is such a show off.

She was very good, Baritone. I enjoyed her and have now created a large pot for the fur beasts up on top of a bar with overhead lights… following her method. I don’t have grow lights… but I do have aerogardens stored in the garage for winter. We have so many plants going, I don’t want to fire up and maintain the aerogardens until Fall, so we have herbs for winter.
Hey… guess what???!!! If you saw the story where I accidentally killed Savannah’s beautiful, prolific Hyssop… I read a Scripture verse about being cleansed by Hyssop. I read it to Savannah and it inspired a phone call. Our favorite nursery had five of the plants for $5 each. Scooped them up and now they’re doing quite well in a barrel planter on the patio. My hope is to keep them going and plant them in our own home’s dirt next July. (A very lofty goal at this point!)

Catnip is in the mint family – literally grows like a weed here. I bring it into my organic produce friend at the farmer’s market, for her to sell.

market are able to sell the ones we bring because they are organic. These folks are the salt of the earth: the best kind of people you’d ever want to know. We have such abundance – it’s really fun to share it with them.

You are killing me. I can’t grow ferns or catnip!!! I think it was about the water, though it was in a small draining pot, ash can’t be totally sure.
I’ve filled a larger, lined pot with rock and then potting soil and planted the nip seed 1/2 inch deep. With the cats intently watching. The rock will be good for drainage but also for weight in case it does bloom and the critters get after it. We will see.
You’re killing me, too, with the apricots and peaches. I purchased 36 lbs of peaches and gave 18’ish lbs away to coworkers and neighbors… processing the rest in boiling water to remove the skin, sliced, simple syrup, and froze them in small batch quart sized bags. Most beautiful orange fruit with fiery red syrup. BEST peaches ever and they are almost gone already. So much for winter stashing. It was $112 from the peach truck. Ouch. Bought them months ago before the school expenditure… as a luxury and to try them in bulk.
To hear you overflowing and not being able to give them away fast enough… imagine the blessing!

Not quite Napalm, but we finally resorted to bug bombs and closed things up for 2 days. I’ve ordered the organic killer Garrison suggested for future infestations. (Maybe just the threat will work!)
Spent several hours today, vacuuming (thousands of dead little buggers) and washing floors, cleaning books, the laptop, furniture, blinds, windows, and laundering sheets, pillows, blankets, towels, etc. Phew, had enough for today.

I haven’t seen Silver Vine ever mentioned in the Caturday Open threads.
We’ve had a few cats that were non responsive to catnip. Wouldn’t go near it. So we tried Silver Vine and have switched to using that exclusively. All cats seems to enjoy it with varying levels of joy. But we haven’t seen any reject it so far. Even the few neighborhood strays that frequent our back porch (for meals that my wife enjoys providing) seem to like the dried Silver Vine that she sprinkles on a small area of outdoor carpet on the deck. They roll in it and often nap there in fair weather.

Is there a shoe that doesn’t feel like it’s breaking your toes while standing hours on cement?
I have these really expensive pair of SAS Factory shoes that I spent good money on. My second toe… is NUMB. Too small of shoes? Even wrapped the toe. It’s like I grew Barney Rubble feet.
FWIW – My former employer’s safety / ergonomics dept. exclusively recommended Redwing shoes for the factory / mfg. areas. They had a Redwing rep. visit weekly to sell & service shoes from a tiny room we let him use exclusively. Our workers seemed to like them and many swore by them.
OTOH, if your SAS shoes don’t feel too narrow at the toes, you might want to try some orthotic insoles (Dr. Scholls, etc.) if you haven’t already. I had a severe case of plantar fasciitis (which is more of a heel /arch disorder) that insoles cured in one day.

Being in a factory I gotta wear steel toes.
If you have to wear steel toes, go somewhere and try on Keen low cut steel toes.
Keen is a hiking boot company that happens to make steel toed boots and shoes with the same toe box as their non-steel toed shoes. I’ve had to do insoles with them in the past although the current pair didn’t require them.
If you don’t need steel toes……I would go somewhere and try on everything available til I found something comfy.
If your feet hurt…….it works its way up to your back.
I have a practically new pair of CAT steel-toed boots. Don’t have to wear them, can wear plain old basic tennies. Which is nice as I don’t think I could throw on the additional weight of the heavy boots. I don’t even know how heavy those pallets are that we are pulling – it’s funny I get the pallet jack going and that thing is practically pushing/pulling me and I scoot on the floor to stop it. LOL.
My second toe next to my big toe, is longer than my big toe – so I think it’s hitting the edge of the shoe. Thought I broke the dang thing. Numb and sooo painful. SAS Factory Shoe Source shoes are REALLY expensive – and they do well, for the most part. Not sure any shoe is going to be 100%. Those concrete floors are hard and unforgiving.
I, accidentally, purchased Savannah a pair of sporty tennis shoes, which happened to be orthotic shoes and she LOVES them for her job. Keeps her feet dry and super comfortable. She’s been trying to get me to try them. I think I may just need 1/2 size larger. Your steel toes make sense, though, for your job. Was thinking of heading to a Good Feet store to check on orthotic inserts.
To think, I once dated the son of Randy Merrell of Merrell Boot Company fame. He sold the company years ago and hand crafts custom leather orthotic shoes for sports stars at his home in Vernal, Utah. His son, was my old boyfriend, and is a Pedorthist out of Tennessee. Talk about a missed opportunity. Maybe he would do me a favor if he wasn’t mad at me for breaking up with him? He was just too young at the time when he was attending UTSA and I in San Antonio at CAT.

When we lived in Wales, we wallpapered all bedrooms with Laura Ashley…and our small morning room. We had a Victorian Up house built in 1869, so her papers were so perfect. Thankfully, Chris is an expert at papering. No visible seams!! Made easier because we had a wallpaper table which we looked for when we moved back here and couldn’t find. Could put a roll on the end and pull out as much as we needed, slap the paste on, cut and apply.
It was easy peasy!!

That sounds lovely. My home in CT was built in 1825. The plaster walls weren’t in pristine condition, to say the least. We wallpapered every room. My dad became something of an expert and helped us (thank goodness) 😊

Mornin’ Bet. I had a very good ‘Tink morning . . . I slept a bit late (just got up, in fact) and found Little ‘Tink sleeping at the foot of the bed—she’d been there all night, apparently. But when I told her she was a “good kitty” she answered with a kitty chirp and a soft purr as she snuggled up under my chin. It was a sweet kitty moment.

Kid’s working noon to 8:30 tonight. She was such a dear. Let me sleep this morning after getting to bed at 4:30 AM. Woke for a storm to move the plants on the patio from being blown all over tarnation and battering from hail. Then, Harry the Maine Coon can’t quite get time adjusted… so he’s waking me, too, multiple times. I overslept… to daughter coming gently into my room… having brewed coffee for me. Quietly asking for me to wake… that her work was coming soon.
I was sleepy and groggy and muttered to just let me sleep a while longer… thinking it much earlier in the day than it was… then it was UP WITH A START… gripping the liquid gold of the coffee. Sharing watermelon with her before she left, because I failed to make our Saturday breakfast. I made her a peanut butter sandwich for something on her bones to start her day. She’ll eat at work – and it’s good nourishing food there. So, I am not guilty… I just feel guilty. That guilt comes from satan, not from God.
The cats were patiently standing centry at their bowls. Probably need to move up feeding time to my return time.
We are doing Good.
Off for two days, looking forward to spending our day together tomorrow. She’s eager to go grocery shopping with me, with new understanding of the shelves I help stock. I bought her that Mrs. Meyers’ Lemon Verbana soap (hat tip to “Little House On The Prairie” and Mrs. Beadle and Laura Ingalls.) Smells sooo good.
Five hours last night in aisle 05 alone, soap. If MyFitnessPal app is telling the troup, I’m burning over 3,000 calories in a night!!!! That’s a whole buncha dirty people. Ha ha.

Got to see Little Feat with Lowell before we lost him, musta been summer ’78 on the Waiting for Columbus tour.
They started the show with the lights low, subdued reds and dark blues, almost a dark stage, with the band vamping on the intro to Fat Man in the Bathtub.
They get to Lowell’s vocal entrance and he steps up to the mic wearing these white farmer-style overalls and he was a big man at the time so it was a lot of white real estate.
Hopens his mouth to belt out his first line and they hit him with a powerful bright white spotlight.
With the combination of those white overalls and the white spotlight, it was like the sun just came out, almost blindingly bright with everyone’s pupils dilated from the darkened stage prior.

Have you ever visited one of America’s major hydroelectric dams? One might assume that the water spilling over the top is the source of the power it generates, but that is not the case. Deep within the dam’s structure, turbines and generators receive and churn tons of water into electricity. They work out of public view.
The energy these produce must go through various transformation processes before it finally reaches the outlets it powers. The Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy states, “Hydropower relies on the endless, constantly recharging system of the water cycle to produce electricity, using a fuel—water—that is not reduced or eliminated in the process.”
In John 16, fully recognizing what was ahead for Him, Jesus encouraged His disciples to remain constant in their trust in Him. “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life,” He told them earlier, in chapter 14, when He promised that the Holy Spirit would be present with them after He was physically absent.
“Abide in Me and in My Word,” Christ said in chapter 15, while warning them of trials and tribulations to come. In Chapter 16, Jesus again laid out the power and work of the Holy Spirit before telling them of the time when He would return, reassuring them of His power to overcome the world.
Much like the turbines in the hydroelectric dams, the Holy Spirit brings the power of Christ into your life through an unseen process that recharges and transforms you. As with electricity, you must stay “plugged in” to the Lord and His Word to appropriate the power of the Holy Spirit in your life.
He is able to do “far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us” (Ephesians 3:20).
Pray for Christians in government and believers who are seeking public office this election year to receive and utilize God’s power.

Jesus did not say that everyone must cut off the right hand, but – If your right hand offends you in your walk with Me, cut it off. There are many things that are perfectly legitimate, but if you are going to concentrate on God you cannot do them. Your right hand is one of the best things you have, but, says Jesus, if it hinders you in following His precepts, cut it off. This line of discipline is the sternest one that ever struck mankind.
When God alters a man by regeneration, the characteristic of the life to begin with is that it is maimed. There are a hundred and one things you dare not do, things that to you and in the eyes of the world that knows you are as your right hand and your eye, and the unspiritual person says – Whatever is wrong with that? How absurd you are! There never has been a saint yet who did not have to live a maimed life to start with. But it is better to enter into life maimed and lovely in God’s sight than to be lovely in man’s sight and lame in God’s. In the beginning Jesus Christ by His Spirit has to check you from doing a great many things that may be perfectly right for everyone else but not right for you. See that you do not use your limitations to criticize someone else.
It is a maimed life to begin with, but in v. 48 Jesus gives the picture of a perfectly full-orbed life – “Ye shall be PERFECT, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

The gaslighting has reached a fever pitch. Talking heads making outrageous and easily debunked claims that President Trump lied with every fact he cited during the debate.
There are liars, damned liars and then there is media and government. Scientists and experts whose very discipline is to arrive at indisputable fact use statistics and “concensus” to sell politics like some kind insufferable Dr Feelgood tonic.
Facts and logical thinking always wins in the end. Artificial and farcical lunacy cannot be maintained over time. As more people awaken to the lies and the terrible liars the pendulums return swing should be devastating.
This is what I await. In the meantime the talking heads outdoing each other in their beclowned assertions are to be ridiculed!
In a way, it kind of makes a person grateful that this is all those talking heads have left; lies, and vanity, and more lies.
There are those who seek truth. They continuously reassess as new information is processed. These people search beyond the answers. Their quest is for solutions.

Well we now have a real Tropical Storm in the Atlantic. What was IL-95 became a Tropical Depression yesterday and this morning became a strong Tropical Storm named Beryl. Already has sustained maximum winds of 60 mph. I would bet Beryl will be a hurricane before the day is out. Over all this storm has developed considerably quicker than the NHC projected.
Current track projection shows it turning to the WNW from it’s current path of due west and heading towards Jamaica, arriving over that island nation on Wednesday. The NHC projects it will be a CAT 1 or 2 hurricane by then but I suspect that it will be a Major CAT 3 or higher by then.
Well, Well, Well! The NHC forecast finally caught up with this old truck driver!
BTW Beryl is now a hurricane.

The Eastern Pacific Basin is going to set a record for the latest start for a recorded tropical storm. There is also no activity in the Indian Ocean.
Typically 60% of the global ACE is generated in the NW Pacific and it has practically been dead.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

I love your coffee mug and your meditative reminder. Tell the story of the “first” stone. I believe I have heard it before, but I am having a hard time recollecting.
Back when Savannah was at the hoity toity Christian college-preparatory school, she actually got in trouble for “stealing rocks” from the elementary school playground. She was little – maybe second grade. I couldn’t believe they actually sent her to the Principal’s office for that. (There was a teacher there, who hated the kids, and she was so hard on Savannah personally.)
What the school didn’t know – is that our Pastor that Sunday invited the congregation to take a small inanimate object like a rock and place it in our pockets as a reminder to pray. So, as Savannah is taking her punishment, she tells the Principal that the rock in her pocket was a reminder for her to pray for Africa.
I have so many stories such as this. It is no wonder why we no longer attend a brick and mortar church. I simply can’t stand the double-mindedness and I’m not quiet about it. I am way too direct from years of the fighting for my daughter, and for me.
Please tell the story of your rock.
And the more “simply” I try to live – the more complicated things get. It is so unreal. It is like God is resolute to force me into refining. I simply can’t hide. The more I protest, the more He reminds me that He can throw me into the belly of a whale. God and I have words sometimes.

Remember the summer of 2020, Covid lockdown?
My doorbell rang and went to answer.
No one was there, but a small package wrapped in paper towels.
I saw a neighbor’s two young granddaughters running from my driveway.
They wrote a sweet note telling me to take care and hoped I didn’t get Covid.
It was very touching, and I saved their crafty piece.
Later, I heard a message from Pastor Swindoll about a parable of Jesus.
He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone.
I needed that reminder, so wrote the word first on the girls’rock.

The movie is an excellent TRUE STORY of the doctors performing the first heart surgeries on blue babies at Johns Hopkins back in the day when medicine honored “The Great Healer” Jesus Christ. I hope that statue still stands in its halls. I wonder?
