If you are on a phone, you can be on this Open Thread landing page and if you scroll up, there should be a tool bar that pops up… click the magnifying glass and type his call sign “WP” and it should highlight all where he appears on this page. Now, if the thread has more than one page… you’ll have to do that on each. (I’m using an android, if that’s helpful. )
If you’re on a desktop computer, there’s is a search feature on the landing page where you can search keywords for an article. Such as “RFK” and it’ll show you the articles. So if there’s a particular message you remember and want to find… try that.

Her mother has her on dry food which is NOT Mags’s favourite…no it is not. So she is not eating and this is very much stressing me out.
Yes she needs to lose weight. No I do not need this. So I may have to fall back on “Bucca’s House, Bucca’s Rules” as I did with the grands once upon a time. If I can hear her stomach growling that’s what I’m doing.

Dogs are carnivores. They need meat. It makes them feel full longer, and less amount food can be given. A lot of these kibbles do not have enough animal protein. They’re loaded with carbs and pea protein. Not the correct diet.
This I know, TT. Thus my stress. Words will be forthcoming.
My little 25 lb dog eats a man’s meat meal everyday plus kibble! IDK about “less!”

I make no claim to being an expert on animal diets, but, I have fed and raised several dozen critters.
We use both – dry and wet food for kitties and pups.
The equids get hay and bran, apples and carrots (sparingly), and access to acres of different plants.
It varies their diet (I like that in my diet!), is more fun, and ensures enthusiasm for feeding time. Plus, in my amateur opinion, it provides various micronutrients not available in any one food. Dry dog food can be on shelves for months at a time. I’d lose weight too if my supper had been in the pantry for 6 months! (Hey, maybe I should try that!)
We eat a lot of fish – always cook a bit more to share. I can’t believe it’s not good for the fur kids.
Plus, going to grandma and grandpa’s ought to be special and fun! For all concerned.
There are many animal crazy people who disagree mightily on diet and feeding. Plenty of room for “bones” of contention!
Personally, I’d go with Bucca’s Rules! 🐕 ❤️

Mags has got her “hunger strike” down pat, doesn’t she? She breaks you in less than a day. As she should. Nothing like a grand dog protesting!
When Danny was so sick, we added wet food into their repertoire, and everyone got the same. Now that he’s gone, we have went from one 5.5 oz can split by two cats once a day – to TWICE a day. Those cans were up at almost $3 each!
I found the Petco brand Whole Hearted pate and made the switch, now about $1.60 a can, but boy… are their coats and eyes and teeth sure pretty! The food actually smells decent (according to Savannah) and looks fresh (the chicken and the turkey pate anyway – the oceanfish is just gross). They even have a chicken and vegetables that looks like the real deal. Fancy cats. They get salmon and sweet potato kibble, but let’s get real… it’s like snacking on appetizer “peanuts” before their “real meal”.
Though Harry is a Maine Coone – he is still dwarfed by Tim the domestic short hair. They have us trained well.
Good afternoon, Betsy. My 2 aren’t thrilled with dry food either so I add a little warm water and a meat topper. It’s usually chopped up boiled chicken or beef, sometimes a sprinkle of cheese. If Tucker loses any more teeth, his kibble will go through the coffee grinder first.
When I have the big grands they expect their kibble to be prepared just like the littles and won’t eat unless it is. This Grama is a definite spoiler😁

This is my grandoggy, Fritzee. Sweet, funny, smart, loyal, tough girl. She does just fine with our pups, but generally ignores them in favor of obsessing on our son (her daddy).
He found her and 3 siblings as weeks old puppies in a grocery cart on a cold January day. Found homes for all and kept her because she was the runt.
We spoil her every chance we get – No one says boo!

-you just know, when the Holy Spirit is ‘visibly’ present.
There were many times during the last two years of Sister’s earthy life when the guidance; the presence, was so clear.
For instance, there was no way that her breath or quiet moans could possibly have awakened me.
-I could not have heard that. But I did!!!
– Yet we were a hallway, two rooms and half a floor apart!
I would sit up and then calmly walk directly to her; as though I was compelled.
That happened as well when she made no sounds; as her blood pressure or sugars were sooo low that she was beyond lethargic…. or the three times she was leaving.
I knew not what to do!
Yet, I did what was necessary; with calmness and confidence
by the Guidance; by the Grace of God.
During joyful times in life, there is an almost electric… awareness…sense
… connection that cannot be put into words.
I find that comes about with certain people especially
—without warning, it’s like a surge!
A certain feeling of high energy and joy… that can bring tears with a smile!
That expression, “something in the air” comes to mind.
You can’t go wrong musically with Crosby, Stills Nash and sometimes Young. Thanks for bringing back memories from decades ago.

Notably, Goodman’s band was integrated despite the era being one of racial segregation. Teddy Wilson on piano, Lionel Hampton on vibraphones, arranger Fletcher Henderson, and guitarist Charlie Christian were featured in both his orchestra and smaller group settings.
With the decline in popularity of swing music, he returned to his classical roots recording and/or performing works by Mozart, Weber, Stravinsky, Bartok, Hindemith, Poulenc, and Copland.

Morning Feisty! We followed a truck carrying one of those blades. It had exited off I-8 at Gila Bend, drove through the town and spent an hour trying to get turned onto Hwy 85 heading up to I-10 into Phoenix. Luckily, once he made the turn we were able to pass and be on our way a bit faster than 35mph. That thing was ginormous. I hate seeing the wind farms and the solar farms, such a great waste and so harmful to the animals and birds.

Wind turbines don’t just kill Raptors. They kill lots of bats also. The bat does not even have to contact the blade to be killed. The over pressure by the blade passing close by crushes them.
That’s horrifying. We have many fruit bats here. They eat so many bugs! They also empty the hummingbird feeders each evening – but so worth it.
Watching them backlighted in the evening sky is priceless.

Ed, they really are and have such fun personalities. They have huge enclosures and are really very happy there. Some never having felt grass under their feet… the refuge is liberating. It’s one of our favorite places in Indiana. 🐅 🐯 (roar!)

Tucson has a world renowned facility, known for its rehabilitation efforts.
It’s called the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum.
It takes only animals indigenous to the Sonoran Desert, but that includes large cats, birds of prey, fish, amphibians, reptiles, etc in addition to what people usually associate with desert dwellers. Desert plants also – a plethora! It is worth a visit if you are in the area.
I would love to visit – but maybe in the winter when it’s cooler. LOL Don’t know how you handle it! I was in San Antonio for 8 years, but that’s a totally different heat then what you have. Did my Industrial Engine schooling at Empire CAT in Mesa, AZ and about died. It was 120 degrees in full gear, thick jeans, steel toed boots. You’re made of tough stuff, Corny!

Indeed, steadfastness is what we need in these difficult times, the ability to hold on and keep to the course, despite the ferocious headwinds. But it’s not being stubborn – any mule will give you as much. As you posted, we should count it all joy when the Lord allows the headwinds because the end of the process of such buffeting is a character perfected, more like Christ than when it began. THAT is the joy and why we grab his strength and hang on and endure, not a spiritual masochism or ascetic mindset, but knowing that God uses these circumstances, and our reactions to them, to perfect his children, to make them like their Father.

You cannot consecrate what is not yours; there is only one thing you can consecrate to God, and that is your right to yourself (Romans xii. 1). The one mark of a saint is the moral originality which springs from abandonment to Jesus Christ. In the life of a saint there is this amazing wellspring of original life all the time; the Spirit of God is a well of water springing up, perennially fresh. The saint realizes that it is God Who engineers circumstances, consequently there is no whine, but a reckless abandon to Jesus. Never make a principle out of your experience; let God be as original with other people as He is with you.
If you abandon to Jesus, and come when He says “Come,” He will continue to say “Come” through you; you will go out into life reproducing the echo of Christ’s “Come.” That is the result in every soul who has abandoned and come to Jesus.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. My dad was at one point stationed in India during WWII.
He loved watching the elephants. Totally appreciated the people’s love of animals in that country.
The Indians used elephants for logging, and every weekday a group would cross a small river and come to the camp unaccompanied. There was no work on weekends, and they didn’t show up!
He always found that most amazing!

It has been said that no two snowflakes are the same. They do carry distinctive common characteristics in what NASA calls their “six-fold radial symmetry.” These icy crystals are far more than frozen drops of water coming from a cloud. At their center is dirt! The crystals slowly grow only after they are attached to a “particle” of pollution in the atmosphere.
Like snowflakes, pearls are also things of beauty. Yet once again, dirt or a parasite gets trapped between the shells of the mollusk and that irritant causes the oyster or mussel to protect itself with layers of nacre. Like it or not, people are like pearls and snowflakes with a dirty irritant, sin, at the center of their being which causes rebellion against the love of God.
Psalm 51 was written by King David after the prophet Nathan confronted him about his affair with Bathsheba and the murder of her husband, Uriah. David had reflected on Nathan’s words, and this psalm was his admission of a soiled heart and life, his worship and adoration of the Lord, and his confidence in the hope of God for restoration.
He acknowledged God’s justice even as he sought God’s mercy.
In Bill Gaither’s song, “Something Beautiful,” he confirms what happens when God gives restoration. “Something beautiful, something good / All my confusion He understood / All I had to offer Him was brokenness and strife / But He made something beautiful of my life.”
Whatever has polluted your life can be put at the center of something beautiful in the hands of your merciful God.
You can be a snowflake, a pearl, or a sunbeam for Jesus. In Psalm 51, David promised to pass along the message of restoration.
You, too, can honor what the Lord has done for you by sharing the incredible good news of His love with others.

Getting shuffled between a rural medical system that says “We do not have the sophisticated abilities needed to address this!” and a Metro system that is saying “Why did they send you 300+ miles to US. SURELY you can get what you need, where you live?”
Anyway, meeting this a.m. with the metro people, to try to come up with a plan.

Doesn’t mean you must have all your care delivered 300 miles away, but, perhaps initially.
Be The Squeaky Wheel! Insist upon things being explained in a way you fully understand. Enlist a primary care provider to smooth your way, and help coordinate care. If you have a friend or family member who has been in medicine, take them with you, for support, for a second set of ears, and to advocate for you.

Both my folks called at 2am from hospitals, scared and confused. And, yes, I drove an hour to be there with them and “sort things out.” Perhaps we really shouldn’t have to – but We Do.

Israel Update:
-Hundreds of rockets on North Israel in the past 24 hours, getting pretty deep into Israel all the way to the Sea of Galilee and some large cities in the North. Also sent in 20 min some 60 rockets and 30 drones. So far only two lightly injured and some 15 fires, forest fires. We do have good defenses. “Biden is doing everything to prevent a regional war”. Means threatens Israel to not provide munitions if we respond properly. A war in the North would be worse than Gaza and there are pros and cons. Bibi may wait for the right time when Gaza is at a better point and hopefully Trump get elected and our laser defense system is operational. But we can’t just keep on like this. Israelis are furious and disagree with this equation of daily attacks on Israel.
