Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
~Amen~
Every year I post this video. I am very proud to have called the little town of Ringgold, Georgia my home for many years. Every year we drive back down to spend the few minutes it takes to go through town, the main stretch and all the little side roads, and appreciate the flags, and honor the fallen.
May the blood cost of our freedom be increasingly appreciated and honored. And may America always be blessed with towns and people like this, who remember and honor our fallen because they value our freedom and know the cost.
If you hijack this post with political content that belongs on the other threads I will put you in moderation. This is a memorial in remembrance of our dead. Not a place to rant.

May God bless America and keep Her!
Amen 🙏
❤️
Beautiful 🇺🇸 God Bless America and all those who fought for Our Freedom 🇺🇸 God Bless all that sacrifice and have sacrificed 🙏🏻.

Mornin’ Bets
A respect filled day to you and yours and all Treepers who dearly love this country. ❤️
Others in government pay lip service to the memories of those they’ve sent to war, Corny.
President Trump pays them rightful homage…from his big patriotic heart.
A sincerely patriotic and valued leader. Thank you, Sir!
What you do when no one is looking, not when you have an audience that tells the character of a person.
Thank you Mr. President.
His whole life has been filled with such actions. Only those on the receiving end will able to tell of his generosity and selflessness will say.
He?
Never!!!
As the Bible asks us to do.
true pride…when no one is looking…when you do the right thing, even when doing the right thing doesn’t wiggle a meter.
it is also self respect….a discipline that is best honed and learned.
God Bless America
I remember that precious young man and his mother 💔
His father would be so proud of him…
Yes Bets. ❤️ 😔
AMEN ! God Bless them and console their families.
A courageous and dignified Commander in Chief.
And every year, my heart swells with pride, and I cry for those lost.
i pray for an America in peril today from those who will not take a stand to protect her and the ideals set for us by our Founding Fathers.
Amen.
Thank you for honoring our fallen war heroes. Thank you for the post. Blessings and gratitude to them all 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Amen.
To our heroes current and past – may your memory be Eternal – and may we who remain do you proud! Thank you for your courage and service.
Tauren Wells – Take It All Back
Mornin’ Woo
Hope you and Savannah have a very meaningful Memorial Day. We are attending a ceremony at the American Legion – always so emotional as it should be. 🫂
Blessed morning, Corny,
Enjoy the ceremony at the American Legion, friend. Emotional, indeed. It takes a special person who can lay down their life for their fellow American.
The ceremony was everything Treepers would love. I was holding it together until a Boy Scout (about 10 tears old) played Taps. I just couldn’t keep it together. When he came back from the stage I hugged him and told him how much we appreciated him. Can’t imagine what he thought about a strange old weeping lady hugging him.
And, also heartening- an old gentleman, in obvious discomfort sat next to me, and told me about his back pain! Lloyd and I spoke with him for half an hour, and hopefully helped him through some of the quagmire in the VA system. Gave his wife my phone number and hope we can be of some help.
Lloyd worked in the VA OR for 17 years and can hopefully sort out some of the questions. I love America.
Taps does it to me, every time. I can’t hold it together.
So glad you connected with your new veteran friend. Sounds like God had an appointment for you and Lloyd.
May the brave and the fallen rest in eternal peace. God bless them and all of us. We, too, must be warriors in whatever way we can. Our reward is not in this world.
The Lord knows my groanings. 🙏🏼✝️🇺🇸
For your prayers spoken, and unspoken, Ps…. I am praying in unity with you, friend. Hold on.
Thank you, Woo. God bless. ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸
They were there for us when my grandfather, a WWII vet, was laid to rest next to my father, who died during the Korean war, though non-combat. Truly a moving experience in my life. Bless them for their devotion.
“All gave some. Some gave all”
Never forget.
Never, Bill.
Thank you, Ladies!
Such a beautiful video–Amazing Grace one of my favorite hymns. Always brings goose bumps. Thank you for posting!
There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
– Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
Our Preacher is finishing up with the last chapter of Ecclesiastes. He has been doing an outstanding job in a really difficult book to preach on.
Amen
RIP my son ……along with all your fellow soldiers. We honor and remember you all.
Until we see each other again….💔🙏🏻🙏🏻
You will, Veritas.
He and his comrades in arms have just gone ahead 🙏🏻
Praying that the peace which passes all understanding is given to you on this difficult day and to all parents of children who are now at rest having served with distinction and selfless honour.
TY for your kind words ❤️
As a mom of a Navy vet who witnessed the dignified transfer of the earthly remains of a military brother, I am very much feeling your sorrow especially today, Veritas. You are most welcome 😔💕
Please pass on our thanks to him for his service….
You are very kind. Thank you 💕🇺🇸
Beautiful.
Teach your children well…
Project Vigil: D-Day 2014, The saluting boy on Omaha Beach
My name is Richie. I am 20 years old. In 2013 my father and I started Project Vigil, a personal remembrance project dedicated to the memory of American soldiers killed in the D-Day invasion of World War II.
In 2014, during the week of the 70th anniversary of D-Day, my father and I spent four days in the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial in Colleville-sur-Mer, France, where I taught people about three paratroopers who are buried there. When we got home from our trip my father posted a video about me saluting on Omaha beach. So many people were touched by the video that I have decided to create this blog and to broaden our project to include stories and memories of American soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice in any war.
If you have a loved one who died serving our country, please feel free to share his or her story with me and I will post it here on my blog.
Thank you.

Absolutely heart wrenching. What a wonderful tribute to the fallen. May their sacrifice not be in vain.
That was just beautiful!
Patriotism and the quality of faithfulness go hand in hand. That’s something the people who spend their waning time on this earth disparaging this country will never understand. There is a truth ground into the bedrock of this country – that we were created to be free, endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights, and this country is uniquely worthy of being defended, even dying for.
God bless this project and those who still appreciate the unique gift he once gave to the world in the creation of the United States of America.
Very moving, Menagerie. I watched this last year and it never gets old.
And, small towns are the best — especially those in Georgia! 🤗
Thank you for this …
Menagerie, thank you. Such a beautiful tribute to the ones lost. I know this town well. Maybe we have crossed paths at some time. Blessings to all reading here today. God Bless America.🙏
Every year for many years, I come here to read your lovely remembrance tribute & listen to the video. My fallen friends are never forgotten & always remembered via tributes by patriotic , caring individuals like you, Sundance, the Administrators & the CTH Treepers. Thank you.
Was just looking up my great uncle Lloyd who died in the Philippines in WWII and found that he was memorialized at the American Military Cemetary in Manila. He was a brave and heroic pilot who went down and died in a P-38, and his loss to the family was considerable. He is remembered on a wall because he remains were not recovered having died at sea like so many other Americans. Didn’t know about the Manila cemetery before, but it looks amazing.
🙏 🙏 ✝️ ✝️
Oh, Bets
My heart. 🙏
Mine, too, sis…
Hat tip to Breitbart….
a good bit of history embedded in the article, worthy of the read, and giving Captain Mugford, his honor as he also died on his 27th birthday if the article is correct…during a naval battle of sorts…also some nice photos of Old Burial Hill…maybe our first real ‘veteran’s cemetery’….?
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2024/05/27/exclusive-odonnell-forever-young-memorial-day-revolutionary-war-unsung-hero-and-appeal-to-heaven/
And an afterthought…as the birthdays pile up…live your best lives, be always grateful…and remember those to whom we owe much…
I watched Patrick K. O’Donnell on Warroom this morning and it was mesmerizing. He was on for the entire two hours with Bannon and it was a very moving tribute to our honored fallen heroes. I recently finished The Unknowns, his book about the Unknown Soldier and heroes of the Great War. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
God bless this small town that takes the time to honor and inspire others with an amazing tribute to those who gave all.

Usually associated with Veterans Day…but also Memorial Day courtesy of google:
In Flanders Fields
By John McCrae
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Found in the bin… 🙁
Interesting, Ad rem…
Last year I tried to post “In Flanders Field” twice for Veteran’s Day. And both times it went into moderation. I tried to figure out what word triggered it and decided perhaps it was poppies. In the end I gave up.
Today Aggiegirl’s went into the bin, and yet mine below did not…curious….
I’d rather it show up two times than not at all. It’s very moving and a reminder that eternal vigilance by we who came after those who died is the sacred duty we owe them 🙏🏻
Yep….remember pulling Aggie’s comment from the bin earlier.
I dunno….perhaps it’s the different formatting of the poem that triggers it? Sometimes biblical scriptures find there way into the bin for the same odd reason. There are a series of “bugs” we have had to deal with since moving the blog over to the “self-hosted” version. Sometimes the “scheduling” of a post doesn’t work, and we have to manually post them….sometimes something as small as an “apostrophe” in someone’s name tosses their comments. Is it worth bringing back a team of engineers ($$$) to debug things?
I’m here all day today, so go ahead and “post away”….I’ll keep an eyeball on the bin! 😉
As soon as mine to went to moderation, I realized I had used the flower name…
Bless your sweet heart, sis (and I mean that in the most loving way)…and your watchful eye 😘
you are the best.
You are so kind….made my day. 😘
I am so sorry, Aggiegirl…
I posted the same after looking to make sure no one else had. Then yours appeared…
On Memorial Day, Remember Those Who Died for Nothing
https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2024/05/on_memorial_day_remember_those_who_died_for_nothing.html
“On this Memorial Day and other national remembrances, I remember the fallen and the veterans that survived. And I also remember those who lived and died for nothing. I honor them all.
But I also remember the stupidity rather than the glory of the leaders that caused it all.”
May His Holy Spirit be with each and ever family who remembers this day those who stood for freedom and having done so, returned not to their earthly home.
God bless those who gave all.
I just read an article about a Centenarian who was a navigator on B-24s and another article on an 102 year old who was in the Normandy invasion. Thank you for your unswerving unselfish sacrifice.

I wonder if any of those crosses in Ringgold were for the fallen in the war between the states?
Thank you for that beautiful remembrance Sundance. God bless.
Greetings from Ringgold Menagerie. They are all in the arms of the Lord.
My heart still lives in Ringgold!
Ringgold also plays a historical significance during the Civil War when Union soldiers dressed as civilians (aka Andrews’ Raiders) stole “The General” locomotive from the Confederates and managed to make it just outside of Ringgold before running out of steam. It was every man for himself as they dashed across the Georgia countryside trying to make it back to Union lines in Tennessee. All of the participants in this daring raid were eventually caught. Many paid the ultimate price of being hanged as spies.

The Great Locomotive Chase…
A 1956 American adventure western film produced by Walt Disney Productions, based on the Great Locomotive Chase that occurred in 1862 during the American Civil War. Filmed in Cinema Scope and in color, the film stars Fess Parker as James J. Andrews, the leader of a group of Union soldiers from various Ohio regiments who volunteered to go behind Confederate lines in civilian clothes, steal a Confederate train north of Atlanta, and drive it back to Union lines in Tennessee, tearing up railroad tracks and destroying bridges and telegraph lines along the way.
Filmed in Georgia and North Carolina, along the now abandoned Tallulah Falls Railway, it was released in U.S. theaters by Buena Vista Distribution Company on June 8, 1956, and capitalized on Parker’s growing fame as an actor from his portrayal of Davy Crockett. The film reteamed him with Jeff York, who had portrayed Mike Fink in the 1954-1955 Davy Crockett miniseries.
By the 1950s the Western and Atlantic Railroad tracks where the Chase took place in 1862 were a modernized main line of Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway (now CSX), and unsuitable as background for a Civil War era film. The Disney studios looked about fifty miles east to the Tallulah Falls Railway,[3] a somewhat decrepit but scenic shortline with photogenic curves and several wooden trestles. The film was shot at various points along the 35 miles between Franklin, North Carolina and Cornelia, Georgia.[4]
The locomotives today-
As of March 2021, the two surviving locomotives from the chase, and the three which appeared in the film, were located as follows:
The General is displayed at the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History in Kennesaw, Georgia.
The Texas is displayed at the Atlanta History Center in Buckhead.
Lafayette, (in the film as the Yonah) is displayed at the B&O Railroad Museum.
The William Mason is also displayed at the B&O Railroad Museum.
The Inyo is displayed, and occasionally operated, at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City, Nevada.
I trashed your first post of this. What part of not hickacking this Memorial Day remembrance did you not get? You just got out of moderation. Too soon I guess. Knock it off, there’s a place for posts like this, but you damned well know this isn’t it.
Menagerie
Memorial Day Service at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fl
Great Great Grandad Jake Beare shot through the neck May 22, 1864. Lay three days in field before taken to Old Hollowell Union Hospital where he died. His wife, Mary, got a parcel of letters she had sent him and his underclothes. Jake’s bones rest in Alexandria cemetery. We still remember you Jake. My sister, Judy, who lives in Alexandria put a wreath on his grave this morning.
Thank You for this posting of Ringgold , Georgia , Menagerie !
I Look for it Every Year !
God Bless Our Fallen 🇺🇲
Thank you!
As I listen to the “dissenting voices” finally begin to appear within NATO, I know that these are the ones who were the most “in harm’s way” in our world’s bloody past: the World Wars ran right over them. They are the ones who most of all will never forget what “Real War” is, and what it costs.
Let them now teach us all: Truly, there are no “victors.” Let us remember the fallen, as we strive that one day no one will ever fall again. War is not an “industry.” It is the empty chair at the dinner table, carefully preserved.

Please, please scroll down through this link u til you get to the most poignant self scolding ever written.
It was penned by the late Gerard Vanderleun. His site is now gone along with all his archived essays. A great loss.
But a dear friend of his in paying tribute to him managed to save perhaps the best he ever wrote for Memorial Day, 2003…
THE NAME IN THE STONE
This one has stayed with me every since the first time I read it…
I know it will never leave me.

FANTASTIC album, BTW…
Let Them In – David Wilcox
“Let Them In was made into song by John Gorka from a poem found in a hospital in the Philippines during World War II. The nurse who found the poem kept it all these years until the recent war brought out all the memorabilia. Luckily, her daughter sent a copy to John”
