Biography: Developed a successful line of beauty and hair products for black women that made her the first self-made female millionaire in America.

The daughter of slaves Walker became one of the wealthiest African Americans in the country, “the world’s most successful female entrepreneur of her time,” and one of the most successful African-American business owners ever.

Walker was also known for her philanthropy and civil rights activism.

THE TEST OF SELF-INTEREST
 
“If thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left.” Genesis xiii. 9
 
As soon as you begin to live the life of faith in God, fascinating and luxurious prospects will open up before you, and these things are yours by right; but if you are living the life of faith you will exercise your right to waive your rights, and let God choose for you. God sometimes allows you to get into a place of testing where your own welfare would be the right and proper thing to consider if you were not living a life of faith; but if you are, you will joyfully waive your right and leave God to choose for you. This is the discipline by means of which the natural is transformed into the spiritual by obedience to the voice of God.
 
Whenever RIGHT is made the guidance in the life, it will blunt the spiritual insight. The great enemy of the life of faith in God is not sin, but the good which is not good enough. The good is always the enemy of the best. It would seem the wisest thing in the world for Abraham to choose, it was his right, and the people around would consider him a fool for not choosing. Many of us do not go on spiritually because we prefer to choose what is right instead of relying on God to choose for us. We have to learn to walk according to the standard which has its eye on God. “WALK BEFORE ME.”

In 2005, a nursing home in the US got a six-month-old kitten named Oscar as a therapy cat. The staff soon noticed something unusual about him.

Oscar often liked to be by himself, but sometimes he would go and lie next to one of the residents.
Strangely, the resident he chose would often pass away within a few hours.

At first, the workers didn’t think it was important, but after it happened 20 times, they started to think Oscar knew when someone was going to die.
So, they began to call the resident’s family if they saw Oscar with them.

Some people think Oscar could sense certain smells from dying cells, and that’s why he went to comfort residents who were alone.

There was even a time when the staff thought one resident was going to die, but Oscar stayed with a different, healthier-looking person, who then died first.

Oscar lived until 2022 and was right about more than 100 deaths during his life.

Earlier this month, Scottish actor and avowed atheist Brian Cox called the Bible “one of the worst books ever,” saying, “It is not the truth, it’s a mythology,” and, “It’s patriarchal and a control issue.”

In addition, he stated that people of faith are “stupid… and they cannot see the writing on the wall.”

Furthermore, he added, “There’s no such thing” as a God who “takes care of us all.” Mr. Cox is a striking example of 2 Corinthians 4:4, which declares, “In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”

He cannot see or understand that “it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). 

The Apostle John wrote, “I saw, and behold a great multitude, which no man could number, out of every nation and of all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, arrayed in white robes, and palms in their hands; and crying out with a loud voice, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne and to the Lamb’” (Revelation 7:9-10). 

 
The glory of God transcends all humanistic, agnostic, and atheistic thought, today and into eternity.

Though he notes that Scripture does not teach future reconciliation for the lost, theologian John MacArthur says, “Someday, the entire universe (including Satan) will publicly declare and openly acknowledge Jesus as Lord.”

Pray today that the eyes, minds, and hearts of the people of the United States would be opened to the truth so that they repent and turn toward Him.

His Dirty Secret: Late ‘Super Size Me’ Star Morgan Spurlock Wasn’t Just Shoveling McDonald’s into His Body During Fast-Food Doc

Filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, who passed away this week at 53, rose to fame thanks to his 2004 movie Super Size Me exposing the dangers of fast food.

Spurlock claimed he ate nothing but McDonald’s for an entire month during the filming of the documentary, which showed the adverse effects of his diet on his physical and psychological health.

But it was later revealed that he had been struggling with alcohol abuse during that same period, RadarOnline.com can report.

In 2017, Spurlock admitted to a history of sexual misconduct and disclosed that he had been drinking heavily for decades.

“Is it because I’ve consistently been drinking since the age of 13? I haven’t been sober for more than a week in 30 years, something our society doesn’t shun or condemn but which only served to fill the emotional hole inside me and the daily depression I coped with,” he said.

That confession directly contradicted Spurlock’s statements in Super Size Me. “Any alcohol use?” a doctor asked him at the outset of the fast food experiment chronicled in the film. “Now? None,” Spurlock replied.

Spurlock’s all-McDonald’s stunt diet seemingly took a toll on his health. By the end of the 30 days, he had gained 25 pounds and begun suffering from depression and liver dysfunction.

At one point in the documentary, a doctor examining him told Spurlock that he was “pickling his liver” and said that it looked like “an alcoholic’s after a binge.”

Because Spurlock failed to mention his alcoholism at the time, it was assumed that the effects on his liver were due solely to the fast-food diet. McDonald’s discontinued its “supersized” meal portions six weeks after the film’s debut.

But since the truth of his alcoholism emerged, viewers have been forced to wonder how much of the health issues discussed in the film were connected to his alcohol abuse.

As Monday approaches I want to remind everyone that it is Memorial Day not Veterans Day- most that come here get this as do my fellow Vets.

Understand and respect the difference- one is for thoe who made it home, Memorial Day is for those who gave it all, including those who gave so much that it caught up to them after they came home.

On Monday when spending time with friends and loved ones, remember them, say a prayer, and promis them we will keep our country free; they didn’t die in vane.

Rest in Peace Tony, we love and miss you brother…….I won’t let your death be in vane. I will keep my oath.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me. 

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
